It's hard to believe that it's been almost 7 months since Chef Gus introduced his Umami Food Truck to Jacksonville! We've been and continue to be Chef Gus fans from his days with Bento, Blazin Azn and now Umami! What a glorious sight to see Chef Gus and his really Cool Black Umami Food Truck here at Greystone Park today! Absolute 5 star menu deliciousness and customer service!! I opted for one of my Umami Favorites - the Tuna Poke Bowl Chockfull of so many tasty ingredients including big chunks of Maguro Tuna; Mango, avocado, Wakame Salad, fresh cucumber slices, julienned carrots and fresh salad greens -- all atop a very generous serving of sticky rice! The drizzle of spicy mayo was a perfect compliment to the delicious flavor profiles in Chef Gus' Tuna Poke Bowl - serious flavor goodness here and the portions are truly generous! Umami earns these 5 star marks across the board! Can't say enough about this fantabulous Umami establishment - if you're in need of a delicious Asian food meal, look to Umami and Chef Gus to deliver supremely tasty goodness and food you are guaranteed to love! Highly highly recommend Umami and hope that you "get some" of this 5 star experience!!

First the owner is a really nice guy. Very friendly and loves to talk to his customers. I feel it's important to be welcoming, it helps people feel comfortable & will bring them back. Food was absolutely delicious! Will for sure look for this truck again!

During The Covid-19 lockdown, food trucks started appearing down the road from my house. I would see them and look them up. My husband and I saw the truck parked at the Church of Our Savior (something like that) but we were actually coming home from dinner and it was already too late. We had just talked about how we need to find some hibachi somewhere but we hadn't found anything open near by. We kept looking for them and the locations they were visiting and finally found that they were going to be at some apartment complex across town. Yes, we drove across town about 30 minutes from our house to try this food truck and I'm so glad we did! While we were waiting we spoke with the owner and told him we had been waiting for them to come back to our side of town. He was so nice and gave us a couple of extra egg rolls while we waited. They were so Yummy! For dinner, I ordered with Shrimp Hibachi. It came with an eggroll and a small salad. The shrimp were huge and the veggies were perfectly cooked. Such great flavor!!! I heard that they are starting a restaurant on San Jose which just so happens to be my side out town. I'm so excited to give their restaurant a try!!!!

Wish I took more photos, this is after we dished it all up! Teriyaki steak. It was cooked medium. Delish!

Our family of 5 all loves and craves Asian food, due to many years of travel and living in China, Guam, Japan, and the Seattle area. When we heard this food truck was coming to our neighborhood during this time of shutdown, we were excited because the food looked great. Little did we know!! Portions were ample, and the food was fresh and delicious, and presented really well. The fried rice, teriyaki steak, teriyaki chicken, hibachi shrimp, and sushi rolls were all amazing and devoured immediately. The meats were perfectly cooked, flavorful, with just enough sauce. The sushi was really well-presented, fresh, and just a welcome bit of comfort food. This meal is a Jacksonville favorite for all of us!! Made our week. Thank you!

Definitely not worth the $11. It's lot of rice (no veggies even though it mentioned zucchini on the menu) and the steak is super tough and pretty salty. You'll need extra shrimp sauce to make it ok but that will set you back an extra 50 cents per tablespoon. Salad is shredded lettuce with a bit of ginger dressing. Rice looks like steamed rice with some food coloring. Egg roll is okayish. Not impressed with this one unfortunately. Total bummer on a Monday. **Updating** to say the owner was very expedient in reaching out to rectify. I will give them another shot when i see them again.

Delicious hibachi and sushi food truck has a new home on San Jose near Osaka. My boyfriend and I recently had dinner here and the sushi was outstanding. We've had the hibachi before but if you want to indulge in sushi then this is definitely the place to try. The edamame is not overly salted like most places and has an interesting yet flavorful seasoning. Normally, my boyfriend and I like to try 3 rolls each but the rolls were so big we were only able to try some of the specialty. Next time we will try the poke bowl and sushi burrito.

Decided to partake in some hibachi during Food truck Friday. I have an hour lunch break and I waited for 35 minutes in line. I ordered the 3 meat combo. The description says it for with stir fried zucchini, onions, fried rice and salad. $16.05 for that. Very disappointed no flavor and the rice was gummy. I literally ate one fork full.

This food truck is by far one of the best ones in Jacksonville. The food was hot, well seasoned & everything tasted very authentic. In my opinion it was well worth the 13$ for the 2 meat plate. I got the Korean bbq chicken and shrimp. It's a little spicy but very well balanced. The salad was absolutely delicious and I would definitely recommend to a friend or family & eat there again over and over lol GREAT JOB UMAMI & thank you for such an awesome meal!

It had a nice kick so I was sold. I watched him make the hot sauce when I arrived to place my order. So you know everything is fresh! I ordered 6 bone-in wings. The wings were cooked perfectly, crispy outside and juicy inside. And I really loved his spicy hot sauce used to toss the wings. But if you don't like heat don't order the hot wings. I suggest ordering a different wing flavor. I only ordered the hot wings as there were no healthy side options. And if you are in a hurry don't order here as it will take a hot minute. But you know the old saying, good things come to those who wait;)

They came to our neighborhood but weren't on the normal schedule (I noticed 2 trucks didn't show up). I ordered the whiting fish sandwich combo without tarter sauce. I got the combo with sauce. Hubby ordered the catfish sandwich, daughter ordered the hamburger and son got the hot dog combo. We all agreed that it was just ok. The breading on the sandwiches was just okay but mostly bland. The breading tasted store bought but bland. The fries were good and seasoned well. I don't eat bread but ordered the sandwich as that was my only option for whiting fish (also breaded). But after receiving the sandwich with tarter I was only able to eat the ends of the fish. I miss my old soul food truck from TN so I was willing to change up my eating to enjoy a great fish dish...I was disappointed.

Fairly new to our city's expanding food truck scene, Southern Twang doesn't seem to know exactly what it is. I'm not sure if it's supposed to be traditional Southern cuisine or some type of "fusion", but the food was tasty and that's always a good start. I had the Farm Burger, and it was extremely flavorful. Well seasoned patty, with bacon, pickled onion, goat cheese, and a sweet/spicy pepper jam. The fries were also surprisingly good. I've come to accept that most places just treat fries as an afterthought, but Southern Twang did 'em the right way: hot, crispy and well seasoned without being too salty. Despite the righteous burger/fries they offered up, there is room for improvement. The menu is pretty confusing and seems like it could be condensed or cleaned up somehow (3 pages stapled together). I actually went there to get the beef bowl (which I assume is Asian-inspired) that I saw a pic of on their FB page only to find out that it is a breakfast dish. I'll chalk these missteps up to them just getting starting, and hope that next I visit thay the menu is a bit more cohesive.

The canoa with triple meat is the way to go for sure if you eat meat. The vegan canoa was great with jackfruit. For my taste I don't think it needs extra sweetness from the sauces since it is on a sweet plantain already. I would adjust the sweetness of the sauces for the vegan option. The yucca fries are the same as you get in the area. Frozen and about 6 for $4. I would like to see a signature sauce for o go with them since everyone in St A does a coconut sauce which is too sweet. I think a mayo-ketchup would be perfect.
