Keith's Cookies
Jodi T.

Was already at the Hawaiian Chip Company, so of course I'm gonna visit this place too~! So glad I did because they sell a huge variety of items! The best were the 'ulu chips and Keith's Cookies (which I completely recommend buying a bag!). The fresh 'ulu chips with churro seasoning was excellent! Not too sweet! They don't have a parking lot, so park in the lot across the street.

Located in the busy Kalihi neighborhood on Republican Street, directly across the street from Hawaiian chip company, don't let this place fool you! Open the door and you will be surprised by all the goodies they got! Wow! That's what I said! They sell ulu chips, (both chips and broken chips), cassova chips, teas, ubae cookies, chili oil, and so much more! I was rather surprised to see all the goodies they had! The store was really clean and the staff was helpful but most of all very welcoming and friendly! I will return to buy more goodies! Please support local!

Chips made fresh to order, either ulu or cassava. It is all fried in coconut oil, so it's relatively healthy even though it's fried. It's extremely thin and crisp. Really delicious, especially when hot. And you can request the seasoning you would like, except we just had it plain. The sales person was so nice and let us try a couple different chips and dips so we could figure out what we wanted to take! Additionally, we got a ulu hummus to go. They sell a lot of local products as well, including coffee beans and cookies! Definitely worth checking out. Plenty of parking across the street. Entrance looks like a back entrance but there is a sign that says they are open during their hours!

Outer island (Kona Hawaii) boy does good!!! Loren, owner of Ula Mana does everything- from emptying trash to answering phones and shipping products. You name it he does it- here is my story: I read about Ulu Mana in our local Pacific Business News. I then received a "you're In" for one of Yelp's events at the Ulu Chip Factory. I loved the Ulu chips so much I went back for more. I then realized it makes great gifts by itself or mixed with other local products they have in their store. Here's a tip; If you want to get some of the Ulu goodies to share with your friends near, far and wide, please know that ULU SHIPS and their shipping fee is nominal and reliable. They can ship their hummus also; frozen and carefully packed. The hummus to be shipped is a minimum order of 4 containers. If you are looking for other items for consumption or for gifts, I'd make this place Ulu Mana your first stop when shopping. Parking plentiful They open at 09 am and they are closed on Sundays. Fun Fact- For those who may not know what ULU is? It is breadfruit. Healthy too

Ulu Mana is fairly new - it's located across the street from the Hawaiian Chip Company. I did not try the freshly made ulu chips but I did go over for the ulu hummus. The tumeric was my favorite!! The shop also carries a lot of other local products - it's definitely the place to hit up to shop local or take goodies to family/friends in the mainland or abroad. The owner was the one helping me and he was really friendly and welcoming.

My favorite ulu chips now has a storefront with plenty of parking in Kalihi. They are located across from the Hawaiian chip company. They also have to go sandwiches, dips and hummus, other local snacks that's perfect for gifting as well as açaí bowls and iced coffee. I would highly recommend ordering fresh ulu chips (1 lb for $30). You can also do half and half depending on what seasoning you want. You can also call in your order ahead of time which I would recommend and plan on doing the next time I go. Cool lime is my favorite flavor but you can't go wrong with garlic sea salt or ranch.

Fresh 'ulu chips and 'Ulu Hawaiian Hummus in Kalihi, Honolulu, Hawai'i... Located across from the Hawaiian Chip Company on Republican Street is the 'Ulu Mana - 'Ulu Chip Factory and Store. Besides breadfruit chips and breadfruit hummus, they also sell merchandise from other local small businesses. We saw items such as Hawaiian Sea Salt, Truffle Popcorn, Hawaiian coffee, T-shirts, caps, gift baskets, and more! It's like a one-stop shop! Krystal is a very friendly and informative staff! She let us try various flavors of chips AND hummus - and even the truffle popcorn! Everything was so delicious! I told her that I wasn't going home right away, so, she offered the frozen version of the hummus! I got the turmeric and beet flavors! Yummy! I'll have to bring all of my mainland friends here! The 'ulu chips are very unique! The fruit (with skin intact) is cut with a meat slicer! Genius! The thick crunch is satisfying! I liked the garlic salt flavor the best! Try it!!!

'Ulu...Breadfruit and it's all here! 'Ulu Chip Factory has been on my radar for quite some time and when I got the introductory chance through Yelp oh my gosh I embraced it and hope to experience all it has to offer! Located right across Hawaiian Chip Company in fact they share a parking lot with a sign "Hawaii's Snack and Gift Center" which is so smart making it convenient for anyone stop by for that snack or gift at anytime. Well I had to return as this is the perfect gift in fact I gave a bag to my neighbor who's always been amazing by being such a gentleman for any help that we require does so without hesitation and he's on a restricted diet and was delighted to see these chips that he's allowed to have. You're able to snag a freshly made bag or box of 'Ulu chips seasoned to your liking or those packed for retail in small and regular sized in Garlic Sea Salt, Sweet Potato Mix, or my favorite Cool Lime along with their Hawaiian Hummus that's made with yes 'Ulu is the perfect pair. Lots and lots of amazing local items are found here as they work together for support which makes it an easy place to gather all your gifts you been searching for. Thank you!

If you didn't know, you can now get fresh ulu chips here at the ulu factory Located in Kalihi across from another popular chip brand, ulu factory makes fresh ulu chips and they also sell a ton of other local products. They offer free samples too so don't be afraid to ask. Also they have a decent amount of parking in front but if you go on the weekend it should be less crowded. It's a cute store inside and they do have a bathroom which was a nice thing lol. They're usually at the farmers market across Oahu but if you want fresh chips I highly recommend coming here. Staff is very nice and I noticed they're picking up more attraction so great for them!

Know a person who has everything ? Going to visit someone on another island or on the mainland? Want to make a basket of unique island goodies? Then you'll want to make a visit to Ulu Manu. Use the directions on Yelp and it will bring you directly into their parking lot. Once you spot their red building with revolving circular orange vent on the roof you're close. They have their own baseball hats and cute colored tshirts. We came for their ulu chips which comes in several flavors. They even have iced coffee. But they also carry many other products from different businesses like cookies, sauces, and so much more. So much to choose from that you could make a gourmet gift basket for a deserving someone. I had to chuckle cuz they even carry seasoning and the bag I purchased for someone special was called Rub My Breasts. Use it on chicken and I was told you can rub it on Turkey too. You may be delighted as me to find so many treasures here. The brown paper bag has an inner waxy like coating bag which kept my freshly prepared ulu chips crispy, crunchy and no greasy residue. I'm certain a smile will quickly appear with your first crunch of their ulu chips. Awesome product!!!

SAMPLES, how can anyone not love free samples?! They have a whole sample bar for all the items in the front. So great to be able to try local products and taste what you really enjoy because buying it. Ulu means breadfruit, I totally forgot before coming here since I've only ever had breadfruit raw, this was so much better! Everything they used it in was so good!. The chips were made to order and the hummus too if they didn't have what you wanted. Overall a nice spot to see local items and try something new

Ulu Chips and Ulu Hummus, where have you been all my life? YUM! Unique operation specializing in Ulu in Kalihi by owner and founder, Loren! Ulu is breadfruit - has a similar taste to potato. All of their Ulu is sourced straight come the small local farmers in Hawaii. The farmers bring their crops directly to the facility where they process everything in house! You can even watch their process through the window. Stopped by today and met Crystal, the owner's fiancé and she was friendly and personable. Great energy! She offered samples of various Ulu Chips and even the hummus! My favorite was the Cinnamon Flavor and Garlic Flavor, which had a mild flavor and was still crunchy. The iced coffee with Oatmilk was decent. I do wish the garlic flavors were more prominent, but it's a good mild flavor to bring out the Ulu flavor. The Ulu chips did get stale/hard fast, by the next day. So, I recommend bringing a ziplock or airtight container if you plan to order fresh ones! We bought a bag of Sweet Potato Flavor, Beet Ulu Hummus, Turmeric Ulu Hummus. The Turmeric one was SO ONO! I was pleasantly surprised by the texture. We also tried the locally made Truffle Popcorn (yellow bag) and it was delicious! Couldn't resist taking a bag home. I love that they sell local products alongside their own personal Ulu business. Support local always! Across the street is the Hawaiian Chip Company which I highly recommend getting fresh taro chips there too! We can't wait to come back for more!!

We stumbled upon this shop looking for tea, coffee, and a bathroom and found so much more! We were SOOO THANKFUL that we stopped by because it was a highlight of our day. First of all, we were able to get iced hibiscus tea and iced tea. Refreshing and delightful flavorful. Also, they did have a very nice bathroom! So all of our intentions were met. But then we discovered the Ulu Mana breadfruit chips and hummus. The delightfully friendly woman who was working the counter let us sample the garlic and sea salt chip and the lime and sea salt chips. Both were delicious, but he garlic sea salt was AMAZING! We HAD to order a bag. We tried all four hummus. If we weren't leaving tomorrow, we would have gotten the turmeric hummus...soo good! The others were good too. The beet hummus was a great flavor and the jalapeño had a great kick! The man then made the chips fresh for us! Cutting the breadfruit, seasoning them, and then frying them up. Now that's service! And delicious. While we waited, we enjoyed our drinks and looked around the adorable shop. They also boast lots of goods from the Hawaiian farmer's market. If there are items you want to sample, you can try them before you buy. What a great deal! My mom ended up getting some dark chocolate macadamia nuts. Yum! This accidental encounter with Ulu Mana ended up being a highlight of our trip. We only wish we had found it sooner so that we could have stocked up on chips and hummus for our entire visit. Next time! If you are able, make sure you stop by today and pick up the most delicious and addictive garlic chips and flavorful hummus today!

Upon approach to our fave Chinese roasters, I noticed ABC Market with its fresh locally (some imported) grown fruits and vegetables displays. ABC Market has been in O'ahu Market's stall #25 for some time now but it took me until today to stop, browse and make a purchase. As I browsed through the fruits and produce, I managed to purchase a couple of Hawaiian papayas, green onions and bitter melon. The papayas are still green but I don't usually buy ripe papayas because they ripen quite quickly so these will ripen over the next couple of days. But, the green onions aka scallions and bitter melon were fresh looking and priced competitively with the other nearby fruit and vegetable vendors. The cashier was soft spoken as she weighed our papayas and then the bitter melon before telling us how much to pay. Our total bill only came up $6.25. I don't think that this vendor takes credit or debit cards as most vendors in Chinatown are CASH ONLY. She packed our papayas, scallions and bitter melons in separate plastic bags which made it easier for us to put into our Yelp reusable tote bag. We'll be back either in a couple of days as I was eyeing the soursop and egg fruits but didn't get them today since we walked into town and didn't want to lug home too heavy bags.

I saw many vendors that share the same items so sooner or later if you become a regular you will have your favorite vendor you will lean towards. They have vendors that sell already prepared mainly Filipino foods and desserts. They have vendors that sell you fresh fish and seafood as well as fresh meats. I always go to farmers market but I decided to start shopping here. It's convenient for what I was looking for. I see I can buy seasonings and noodles (dry packets) as well as many other things. I will return again when I'm running low on stuff. The prices aren't terrible but not that inexpensive either. You can find some bargain vegetables that aren't pretty but for $1 a piece it's good if you're using them up that day. I say try and go around and see what you can find. Plenty of convenient parking. Nearby outside there's Kamehameha bakery, sugoi'a and other eateries. Nearby is Costco and Costco gas and Home Depot so you can't go wrong.

One of my fondest childhood memories is going to Tamashiro Market with my dad…read more When we lived in Kalihi, this was our usual spot. And even after we moved, we would still drive out just to come here for the seafood. That's how special it was to us. The reason why he chose Tamashiro over other grocery stores was simple--it was quality and because of my Nanay (grandma). His mom purchased from here and made so many delicious dishes. He knew what to look for, and he trusted this place. For him, it wasn't just about buying food... it was about getting the best for his family. My dad isn't the type to say "I love you." He shows it. One of the biggest ways he showed love was through his cooking. Even after a long day on his feet cooking for others, he would come home and cook for us. That was his way of taking care of us. I loved coming here with him. It was a five-senses overload--the smell of fresh seafood, the sound of people talking story, the colors of fish on display. Back then when you were allowed to sample a grape or poke to make sure it was good before buying. But more than that, it was time with him. I still remember the excitement I felt when I saw the pink building with the huge crab. I thought back then was to look at everything but now I understand that it meant something more..... something special--time with my dad. It's with a sad heart that Tamishiro Market is now closed.
