When the cleaning was eventually completed, cleaning-solution splashback damaged the paint on my front door. The surrounding areas had not been adequately covered or protected before the cleaning began. The solution also stained my brand-new pool equipment and killed areas of my grass. When I reported the door damage in June, he readily acknowledged it and agreed to repaint the door. Over the next three months, he repeatedly said he would come fix it, but there were continual delays, excuses and missed promises. I finally purchased the materials and repaired and repainted the door myself. The overall property damage and work required to correct it were worth considerably more than $49.17. To resolve the situation reasonably, I asked him to reimburse me only for the paint and roller--not for my labor, the damaged pool equipment or the grass. He apologized for the runaround and promised in writing to send the $49.17 through Zelle by the end of the day. He never sent it and did not respond to my follow-up. I gave him numerous opportunities to resolve this. The damage was frustrating, but the repeated missed commitments and complete lack of follow-through were worse.
