This place isn't like other gyms. It's all about results. Their advertisements don't lie. The sole focus is helping you achieve your goals.

She was kind and helpful and I highly recommend going to her.

I have the unlimited membership, which grants me pool access plus all workout classes (except for Reformer Pilates). 98% of the time I take their group fitness classes - their schedule is top tier (tons of variety, great times). Shoutout to Jessica's exceptional, technique-focused mat Pilates classes and Pure Strength classes. A thank-you to Adrienne's Thursday noon and Terence's Saturday morning Power Yoga classes (both great for advancing strength, balance, and flexibility). A nod to Courtney's efficient 45-minute Mat Pilates Monday noon class. Recommendation for the Candlelight Yoga wind-down 5:45pm Friday and 6pm Sunday classes. One last thing - I always make sure to workout on their Open House days monthly because they give us free treats like mini, delicious cupcakes or blueberry muffins. They'll occasionally throw an event with their spa, and hand out salon goodies, give you free 10-minute chair massages, and offer free food.

If you are considering signing for trial classes and are perusing this page for reviews - good for…read moreyou for doing your due diligence. No matter what shape you are in, who you will be entrusting your body to is very important. I can say with full confidence that every single one of the what? three bad reviews? Of Sweatbox  should be cast aside because they are irrelevant since none of them talk about the actual sweat method and what it does to your body. Firstly, if you are worried if fat shaming/ageism exists here. The answer is a firm NO. I am older, I am overweight , and I was  welcomed with open arms, made a part of the family immediately, and that has not changed since the first class. I went to one OrangeTheory location a year or so back and was full on fat-and-age shamed and that made my self esteem spiral down into dark abyss for a very long time. Because words hurt, because I am already so vulnerable and frightened to cross the threshold of the gym, I need support, not otherwise. SweatBox is all welcoming, all inclusive type of place. Yes, they are located inside an exact copy of the Globo Gym from Dodgeball, (I got jokes) but just walk to the back of the first floor, to the Sweatbox counter, as far as I understand, gym and them are two separate entities. I purchased a 7-day, $34.00 unlimited trial pass online, came 30 minutes early for the instruction session (important to come early, instructors won't say no to you if you show up 5 minutes prior to class, but ultimately you are shorthanding yourself on the instruction part - don't you want to know as much as you can about bike set up, and components of training? And remember that instructors have other student s  to take care of prior to class) I began my training on Tuesday, September 3rd, 2019 and I made sure to come every day, dragging my self in sometimes, even if my body screamed to go get nachos instead. The instructors I've experienced during the trial week were: Alexx G Shawn M Kevin D Ashley D I loved all the instructors, Alexx is all tough love, just as described in his bio, but I love his light show and music choices. Kevin has an amazing aura and energy and makes you feel included. Then comes Ashley, wow. I don't know if she somehow hypnotizes the class, but you get in the zone, stop thinking of outside world, and all you focus on is her voice, her example poses, and her corrections, nothing else. At the end of the class, when you finally come to, you realize that you worked out for a full hour and  never looked at the clock once! Shawn is a rare soul. I have my collection of special, big hearted people, the list is short, but Shawn is on it. First of all the energy during his classes is through the roof, he is so charismatic, you WANT to do good to show him your appreciation. But my experience with him is also more personal. When I felt embarrassed, questioned myself, felt weak, cried like a baby after second class, Shawn in the gentlest of ways supported me, was there for me, helped me get past those hurdles and I cannot be more thankful. He always has words of encouragement, listens with attention, he is present. What an amazing human being. To sum up - 15 lbs. down (results will vary of course) and I signed up for an unlimited monthly. They got me good.

From the moment, I walked in I felt welcomed especially with Brad taking me into the studio early to get me acclimated with the equipment. Brad was an amazing instructor as well, checking on me every few rounds to make sure I was okay and if I needed modifications for anything. I loved his energy throughout the class too. I typically never ask about the membership plans after a class but today I did. I have one more class on my intro offer but I am highly considering getting a membership. I've done other HILT style classes at the other gyms but this one is the best.

It is small and clean, the staff is friendly, and the locker rooms are very nicely stocked -- I think the fact that it is also a hotel gym helps in this regard. I have never been there when I couldn't get on a machine or felt like there were too many people (oversold memberships, like some gyms do). This also makes me feel less self-conscious because there aren't a ton of people around, and if there are half of them are from out of town and I will never see them again anyway! I have started doing personal training with Emanuel and after two sessions am confident that this man is going to whip me into shape! He really knows his stuff and I feel like he is genuinely interested in helping me reach my goals. I haven't taken any of the group classes yet. There are not very many to choose from, so if that is what you are mostly interested in, this probably wouldn't be the gym for you. I am looking forward to the pool opening next week -- I really like the fact that it is also the hotel pool, which means you can order food and drink poolside! On Friday nights supposedly they set up a walk-up bar, which sounds fun to me, too. :-) I have a feeling we are in for a super hot summer and I love that I will have a private pool just four blocks away. As a member, I also have access to a huge grassy area for laying out, picnicking, reading, etc. It would be a great place to watch the fireworks. If you live in the neighborhood I totally recommend this place.

In addition, there are also loads of fitness/cardio equipment, a group fitness studio and crossfit station(s) to complete just about any of your fitness interest and goals. Most importantly.....MY PLAYGROUND/SANDBOX .....is the free weights section! This area is standard and adequate enough to meet your needs. What I like most about this gym is that, although it is off the metro line, it never seems croded. This is something that is a major problem at other Gold's Gym locations around the DMV. Workday evenings from around 5pm - 7pm at best, is the most I've seen this gym get crowded where it can be a hassle to get a good workout in or may find yourself having to wait for equipment. So, to sum it all up: THE POSITIVES * Great Customer Service - Very friendly staff and helpful. * Cool Vibe - Non-intimidating. Beginners, Novice, Bodybuilders and Advanced Fitness Enthusiast...would all fit into this utopian environment. The gym is has an open floor plan and great exercise equipment, in well thought out space. * Great Locker/Shower Space - Uber, super clean and does not wreak of $#!% for now. THE NEGATIVES * No Added Amenities - Pool, B-ball Courts, Boxing, or Racquet Ball Courts. * It is located downtown DC where parking can be a hit or miss; but on the positive side it is directly next to the Farragut North Metro. At any rate, if you read this review this far......Get your butt up off the couch and sign up for this place....you will not be disappointed.

I just never did it. I hated sweating, I felt out of place and insecure at the gym. I never learned how to find a sport or exercise I enjoyed and so I just never did it. I had just accepted that I was not an "exercise" person. I don't remember the catalyst for reaching out to Amy at CenterPointe three years ago -- I think I had gained some weight and figured I would try moving my body. I started with some one-on-one sessions and eventually added some of the easier classes that CenterPointe offers. From the very beginning, Amy MET ME WHERE I WAS. She is warm and funny and caring. She taught me about MY body. About how my muscles work and how doing different stretches, lifts, exercises are supposed to feel in my body. She taught me where my hamstrings are. She taught me where the line of "too much" really is and how to listen to my body. The list goes on. And not-so-slowly over time, I got stronger. I LEARNED TO DEADLIFT. The lovely woman who *hated* exercise was DEADLIFTING, like what! I experimented and found the exercises I really enjoyed (dare I say LOVE) and that made my body feel better. I also refused to ever do a burpee and Amy never made me. In the past three years, I have taken breaks from working out and have also returned, and each time, Amy meets me where I am. My perspective about my body, my strength, and my power has all shifted over the past three years because of Amy and CenterPointe. If you are searching for a non-judgemental gym to help to discover your strength and learn about your body, I encourage you to try CenterPointe.

They and my RtB classmates were super welcoming, supportive, and encouraging. Programming-wise, RtB is similar to CrossFit. Every workout starts with a warm-up that is related to the day's main workout. The main workout is usually a compound lift plus conditioning/accessory work, intense conditioning work, or some kind of running/sprinting. The coaches make sure to work with your level--what they ask you to do is adjusted for whether you have been doing heavy back squats for years or can't squat to parallel, whether you can do five unassisted pull-ups in a row or are working up to assisted pull-ups through inverted rows. They also happily work around whatever injury you may have, coming up with alternative exercises that avoid stressing the injury. And they keep track of your progressions on various exercises and recommend how much weight to lift/how deep to move, so you don't have to guess what you should be doing. They can do this because class sizes are capped at around 8 people. It's as much attention as you might want from a one-on-one personal trainer, but much, much more affordable if you work out frequently. In the three months that I had the pleasure of attending RtB, I did an unassisted pull-up for the first time in my life and vastly improved my form for both Olympic lifts (with which I had little prior experience) and powerlifting lifts (with which I had years of prior experience). I was having trouble progressing beyond intermediate strength standards because my form was off, and RtB has so noticeably improved my form that I look forward to seeing what I can do in the upcoming year. Whether you have little experience with exercise and don't know where to start, or have been exercising for a while but are feeling stuck, CenterPointe RtB has the individualized, attentive coaching and focus on form that you need!
