Let me preface this by telling you what a tough sell I am. Before I even chose Bobby Bluford's bootcamp, I did my research. I also tried it for one day before paying for the groupon deal at the time. I started working out with Bobby back in July 2013 and I'm the last person that ever expected to stick with it for this long. First off, I *hate* mornings. I have to get up by 5:15am to get to this class. This entails me rolling out of bed, washing my face, brushing my teeth and throwing on my gym clothes so that I can drive up and over the hill to make it to class. I didn't think this was possible until I met Bobby and really got into his program. Now I'm surprising myself by being super consistent and calling it the highlight of my day. Wait.. Did I just say that? Yes I did. There is nothing better than the feeling I get after doing one of his workouts. It is the most gratifying uplifting feeling-- think R. Kelly when he's singing "I believe I can fly, I believe I can touch the sky.." Yes, yes, yes, it sounds corny I know. But trust me on this. I actually know what people mean now when they talk about endorphins. I used to go to the gym and plant myself on the ellipticals for 40 minutes but nope.. Never got the endorphins there. So I guess I have to thank Bobby for introducing me to them. Now I can't get enough. Ask me what I'm doing tomorrow morning? Chasing after my endorphins with Bobby of course. read more

I was in the process of finding something to belong to that would help with my fitness goals. I came across UMC here on yelp with a friend's review stating her pleasure with the coach and his method so I asked her to join me in a class. That was over a year ago and I have not looked back. Classes follow a HIIT method where the coach carefully chooses activities for us to work large or small muscle groups for 30-45 seconds with cardio mixed in as well. My thoughts are usually start with, "I can do this for 30 seconds" and end up at "this is the longest 30 seconds of my life." I like to think I've got it down and am able to keep up but then he goes and changes it up and challenges the status quo. Ultimately, increasing my strength, my endurance, my confidence, and my overall health. I am amazed at what I am able to do thanks to Coach Bobby. No doubt, he knows his craft. I think he has the superpower of being able to decipher through my whining about whether I need to slow down, modify, or (usually) shut up. He is willing to educate you on your nutrition as well with his BTY group. (Hard core devotees who love sharing the wealth and encourage you along the way.) Definitely worth the value. Good group of regulars. Regular classes are MWF with private lessons available T/Th and bonus class on Saturday. Saturday is usually an elevated level class that is longer in duration and challenging at first. But Boy, does it feel great! read more

Ultimate Muscle Confusion Bootcamp - Boot Camps Near Me - San Jose, California

From my previous review at Bobby's former bootcamp: UMC, or as I like to call it: Bobby Bootcamp, is effective, unique, & motivating! Bobby Bluford is an inspiration in fitness, values, self-improvement, & community outreach. As a busy entrepreneur & family man, he really knows how to maximize effort & time for quality results. Whether you are with him for 10 or 100 minutes, you will give your all, because he is giving his all. UMC is also understanding & adaptable to time restraints or restrictions due to injury without sacrificing goals. No yelling at you from above or the sidelines like other trainers- Bobby gets in the trenches with his clients! I never have to question the fitness level and authority of Bobby, I know he's qualified to teach me, because it shows -"life's too short to keep your shirt on," right Bobby? lol, AND he proves it by demonstrating all the moves and working out with us. Unlike some boot camps where, ahem, I'm pretty sure I would outlast the trainer in the Hunger Games. It's hard enough waking up at 5:15am to make 6am bootcamp- but once I'm there Bobby gets me ready to work & puts me to it! Even so, I don't feel the minutes go by. Each day and each set is something different, so you are constantly challenged and never bored. He also incorporates different kinds of props such as hurdles, tires, bands, weights, steps, etc. to make the most of a workout and makes it fun. My abs are worked from core exercises as well as laughing at his jokes. I have tried tons of different gyms & bootcamps- it's so difficult to find one where I feel constantly motivated, challenged, & guided, but after all those experiences I can definitely say Bobby is the best. I love working out @ Bobby Bootcamp! read more

This is the first exercise program that I've stuck with and actually enjoy! Bobby is a pro. His workout is tough and, while I never thought I'd say this, but I've found that I am tough too! And my body is indeed stronger, I don't get sick, and I am less stressed at work and at home. Moreover, Bobby, as a person and a trainer, is as knowledgeable as he is fun and inspiriing. We laugh. Alot. It's for all fitness levels because you push yourself at your own individual level. Not only that, but there are multiple classes/week. If you miss one time, you can pick up another. Try it, you won't regret it! read more

Let me start by saying I don't like waking up before the sun comes up for anything except taking naps. But there I am every morning waking up to hit Bobby's 6AM bootcamp class before starting my day. My wife started 6 months before I did and pushed me to try it. I did, and it's been one of the most rewarding decisions I've ever made. I've been going for 6 months now and the transformation has been remarkable. I have more energy and I feel great. I have muscles in places that I didnt even know I had places! It's more than just another fitness class. Bobby is personally motivated to see you excel. He pushs you individually to strive and be your best. He gets you pumped to work out and that feeling carries over into your day. If he ever retires from training, he will be one of greatest motivational speakers around. When you sign up for UMC classes you get more than just a personnal trainer, you get a life coach! The only bad part about going to UMC bootcamp is having to buy all new clothes because nothing fits anymore. We love the class and the results will blow you away! read more

I joined the UMC family in 4 months ago after a trial class with some coworkers and I've been hooked ever since. I have become addicted to the feeling of being strong, fit and full of happy endorphins. Bobby does a wonderful job of being encouraging yet pushing you to get to the next level each and every workout. Each class is different and challenging in its own way. I love having someone skilled who can help me with proper form, who can spot me when I am transitioning to a heavier weight and who is watching so I don't quit working hard. The team bond is so essential - we encourage each other to push through and fulfill Bobby's motto of being better than yesterday. Can't speak highly enough of this program! read more

I have been coming to UMC for four years now and I average three classes a week. Bobby not only mixes it up and keeps the workouts from becoming boring, he creates routines that are challenging. He has been a wealth of information on nutrition, how to eat to reduce body fat and increase my energy/stamina during our workouts. His Saturday bonus class is an hour and a half long and is well worth the $10.00 he charges for attending it. I have not found another trainer or group class that comes close to his class. My strength has increased, my body fat has significantly decreased and my energy has increased. Great coach! read more

Bobby is awesome! He makes sure we get the most out of each workout and switches it up every time. He will definitely push you to your fullest potential. Highly recommend! read more

Bobby's class is so much fun! Don't be fooled by his bad ass appearance or the name "boot camp", which can be intimidating. Bobby is a goofball who is extremely passionate about fitness. His workouts are challenging, but fun. I have been attending for five weeks and have noticed significant results. For years, it has been difficult for me to increase my muscle mass as I have always been on the "skinnier" side. Since, I joined UMC, I have gained 2-3 lbs of muscle mass. Although the classes are earlier than I would like, I find myself energized through out the day. I also really enjoy the music. read more

This boot camp thing is probably one of the best things that's ever happened to me. And here's my blog post on it because I just have that much to say. http://soap1069.wordpress.com/2014/06/26/the-bobby-boot-camp/ "You gotta love it when your morning work-outs come with complimentary comedic entertainment. And then from time to time, amidst all the sweating and trying to catch your next breathe, Bobby throws a super motivational line at you and you start wondering about life in general. It's crazy. But it's not what he says that motivates me the most. It's him. His attitude rocks and he sets such a great example from how he wants us to do a roll up right every time to how he runs his own business." read more

From the moment I walked through the door 6 months ago Bobby made me feel welcome, he took the time to listen to my concerns and my personal goals. He kept in touch via email, gave me a meal plan and checked up to see how everything is going on a regular basis. I've never know someone who is so passionate about what they do. He keeps the class motivated and on our feet, we never know what's coming next! Thank you Bobby for helping me get in the best shape if my life. I'm really looking forward to 2014. read more

I don't usually write reviews but I feel compelled to write this review on behalf of Bobby because he has successfully found the formula for making exercise enjoyable. He is the ultimate motivator. He has truly made a big difference in my physical appearance and my overall mindset about fitness and nutrition. Anyway, I joined his class in July of 2013 with a friend. After she so pitifully told me the story about how she had a membership to a gym, but she would just drive there and sit in her car, watching all of the other people going in. I kind of felt sorry for her so I went along with her to the class. Now she is more enthusiastic about working out than I am. I was in decent shape when I walked through the door but now my fitness level, strength and muscle definition has greatly improved. If someone would have told me that I would be attending a 6:00AM class during my 10 weeks of summer vacation I never would have believed it. I have lost 15 pounds and dropped 2 dress sizes so I am more than pleased with his style of coaching. The class is composed of people from various cultural backgrounds, fitness levels, and ages. We all support each other and Bobby calls us his fitness family. The environment is very comfortable, positive and challenging. You feel like you have a personal trainer because he closely and consistently monitors your form to ensure that you are doing the exercises properly and safely. Once he gets going with his comedy show he keeps us laughing everyday. My husband has now also become a faithful participant and he is happy with his results. Thanks Bobby for your expertise, positive energy and humor. read more

Bobby is an amazing trainer! He is very personable and motivates you exercise and live a healthier lifestyle. His workouts are always different and even though I feel sore after, I can't wait to go back the next day. Bobby uses high intensity interval training to build and tone muscles. Attend a UMC bootcamp and you won't be disappointed!! read more

This review is long overdue! I have been working out with Bobby at UMC since April thanks to a group-on deal, and am so grateful I found him! I not only lost weight, but inches and gained some muscle! I was able to fit into outfits that had been sitting in my closet for a year which is nice because everyone thinks they are new. I have more energy, and have learned how to eat better and train better. In fact, I was sad because I just graduated from school and had to quit for a bit because of lack of funds while I search for a job, but my dad told me I had to keep doing it and offered to pay for me until I get settled in and find a job! He noticed the change in my health and told me he didn't want me to quit. Not only my dad, but many of my friends have noticed a change in me, and I owe a big part of that to Bobby. If you want to get serious about your health, join UMC! The people are friendly and everyone goes at their own pace. Seriously, people range in class from 20s to 60+! Bobby is friendly and motivating but he will make you work, and you will change. Give it a try and you won't regret it! read more

I had been working out at home for over a year, but felt like it was time to push myself more. From my very first workout at UMC, I knew that I would be pushed and challenged. In just 3 months, because of Bobby's encouragement and motivation, my strength and endurance have totally increased. I wake up at 5:30 am excited to go work out - because I know it will be a good one and a great start to my day. read more

#1. I have ALWAYS hated waking up early. #2. I have never had a SUSTAINABLE workout plan that I enjoyed #3. I have never had a Motivational Coach such as Bobby. That being said... I had to come and leave a review because I am convinced that Bobby's strategies and workout regiments are what most people need to get into shape, and STAY healthy, and I Know this from personal experience. I am the typical guy who gets excited around the New Year, and then falls off before January ends. Surprisingly, it has been a couple months, and I am STILL with it. Not only have I noticed that I've lost inches, but I feel stronger, and despite the fact that I attend the 6am class (there are other class times if that is to early) I find that I am energized enough to do my much enjoyed hikes in the afternoon. In addition to a great class, Bobby takes the time to post recipes and updates on his page in regards to health related matters. I was kinda out of shape when I joined the class, and so I was a little intimidated on the first day...But when I saw that there were people of all ages and sizes and of different levels of fitness...I found that I fit right in. When you have an injury, or feel pain in a certain area, Bobby will quickly and efficiently teach you the "modified" version of that exercise, that way you don't fall behind. Some of the things that make this boot camp unique are Bobbys attentiveness, the different music options(He will even let you bring your own playlist to play!), the class support, the online tools, and the convenient schedule that works perfectly with work and school! I am pleased with the progress and results I'm seeing! If you are looking for CHANGE, I encourage you to TRY out this UMC boot camp! read more

I've been coming to Bobby's bootcamp since 2013. (May have been one of his first Groupon people!) He pushes me like no other group trainer I've had which makes each workout unique which is why I've kept up the 3x/week schedule for 3 years. I also like to do other activities such as yoga, swimming, biking (and will run just to keep in semi-triathlon shape) and all of these have improved because of the high intensity + weight training aspect of the workout. Love him! read more

Best Gym I have ever been too. Best trainer I have met. Bobby is great, he's hard on you but it's only because he knows you can do it. He will help you with whatever you ask him. His workouts are always different and challenging and he will always assist you with the correct form so you do not injure yourself. He is willing to go above and beyond to help you achieve your goal in you health, physically and nutritionally. If your looking for any place to get fit. Coach Bobby and UMC, is the right place for you!!!! read more

Today is my first day and I loved it. Like the others said in their comments, Bobby was very motivating, nice, and helpful. He did his best to help everyone there. I never really work on my arms in the past bc they are physically weak due to a surgery I had a year back but he was very motivating and helped me pushed through it . My arms are super sore right now but I'm loving it. I didn't get bore with the workout since he switched the moves every 30 seconds. I came in half a sleep and came out with full of energy. Give it a try and I can guarantee that you will love it. read more

My son and his 12U Baseball team, The Morgan Hill Assault, worked out with Bobby twice a week for 6 months solid. The training was in preparation to take the team to Cooperstown, NY to play teams from all over the country. Bobbys training was tedious, exhausting and demanding. Bobby himself was a great motivator and endeared himself to the kids he was training and all of us parents. Fast forward to the tournament... We were one of 32 teams and would have been happy to play competitive baseball over the course of 6 days. Well, as a result of Bobbys training our boys were a little faster, a little stronger, a little hungrier and alot more conditioned. They were stronger mentally and overflowing with confidence. My son, being one of the smallest kids on the team, performed exceptionally well and hit 4 HR's in 9 games. To date he has only hit 1 in his baseball life to that point. I have no doubt that Bobby's strength and endurance training were the sole reason for his performance. He has always been a good player, but Bobby raised his game to the next level. I can speak to the success of the other players and the team as a whole as well. We finished the tourney 8-1. Our only loss was in elimination play. We went down fighting to a top ranked team from So-Cal. 11-10. One of the best games I have ever witnessed. And the only reason those kids were able to battle at that level on day 6 and game 9 (third game of the day), was because of Bobby. He prepared them and those games were won before they ever took the field. Hard work and Opportunity= Success! If you are looking for a elite level training program for you, your family, child or sport team, you have to stop looking a call Bobby Bluford. His results are second to none and as good of a trainer as he is, he is an even better person. This is his passion and he truly cares and takes the time to develop a strong bond and relationship with his students. I give my 100% endorsement to Bobby and UMC Bootcamp training. Everyone else is just fighting for second place. read more

I started this class with a 6 week groupon but quickly decided that I should stay longer! Bobby is a really great trainer who cares about his students. I love Bobby's Bootcamp. He's a caring coach who looks after your well-being. He checks in regularly with his clients, cheers on you and pushes you during class, and calls your B.S when you are not working hard. What an awesome find! I was looking for a place that I could go to that would help me "be better and feel better" about my health regimen. Going to UMC in the mornings is the best start to my day. Every work out session IS different and challenging, which I love. I appreciate the atmosphere Bobby has created; everyone is respectful and supportive of each other. I am not an experienced workout individual, but with Bobby's help and encouragement I have learned proper form and challenged myself to get stronger. Bobby's workouts are effective and make me look forward to the next! Thank you Bobby, I am glad you push us all to be better! read more

Just knocked out 100 burpees. Doing my business trip workout. Thanks bobby. Now push-ups and knees to elbows....

First of all when it said boot camp, I thought it would be like the boot camp i had gone long time back, but it's entirely different. Bobby is an all rounder. He has great sense of humor and he is an excellent trainer and he has good knowledge of fitness training. He keeps us motivated and make sure we do the exercises correctly so you don't injure yourself. He gives us good advice on nutrition also. I have been going for the past 4 months and will be continuing in future too, what can i say, having a great trainer like bobby is enough to get motivated and keep going. Bobby, You Rock!! read more

Bobby is amazing at everything regarding fitness. Bobby broke every muscle( I didn't know I had) at my first bootcamp. after that every bootcamp was awesome! His attitude and attention to everyone is incredible. Bobby's passion and personality put him on top of the list of bootcamps.to go to. Just one class and you will be addicted!. The only regret is that you didn't meet him sooner! read more

I first started training with Bobby 9 months ago. I am almost 42 years old now and I got inspired into getting in shape after seeing myself getting in poor shape year after year. I was constantly tired, slow, weak and my diet did not make things better. I tried some different classes but I didn't experience any changes and I was not motivated enough to continue. After few weeks with Bobby I started seeing changes in my mood and my energy level increasead. I was amazed in watching my muscle mass increase and my legs, arms were tightening and now I can see the muscles even if I wear tight shirt. Before I started my training at UMC I thought that your bottom is supposed to drop down after you turn 40, but I found out that it is not true because after 9 months it is tighter then 20 years ago. I am almost 42 years old and thanks to Bobby, every day I am getting slimmer, faster and stronger. Bobby is very charismatic and caring person. He helps us bring out the inner self that most of us like myself have lost down the road. If you care about your body and you want to get back few more years of your youthful appearance, sign up for UMC boot camp and meet Bobby, it will change your life for the best. read more

Bobby's Bootcamp is just great. I love how he gives me alternatives for exercises because of my bad knees. I have seen an improvement in my fitness and my energy level. My husband has noticed an improvement in my svelte bum. :) Worth going to for that! ;) Bobby is a great motivator and he's really invested in making you be "better than yesterday!" I love how he has multiple ways to exercise one area. Get off your bum and get into a class. read more

I won a 2-month Bootcamp class through a drawing at my job. I love the classes that were offered. The workouts are very challenging, but afterwards, I felt great and had tons of energy. Also, within those eight weeks, I noticed that my arms had more definition and that I my love handles had trimmed down significantly (my husband even noticed). This was exciting! The trainer, Bobby Buford, is an amazing trainer!! He's energetic, encouraging, and 'ALWAYS' makes sure his students are doing the exercises properly in order to prevent injury. I 'HIGHLY' recommend his classes. He's the AWESOME!!!!! read more

Guys, if you are looking to lose your gut this is workout for you; I use to play football in college and over the years the weight just crept up on me; a pound or two a year, then 5, then 10 and before I knew it I was 250 lbs. After taking Bobby's class for 4 weeks I am down 14 lbs and have lost 2.2% body fat. Before Bobby's UMC class(boot camp) I was going to a gym just working out; I would do 30 minutes of cardio and then I would work out for about 45 mine and was going every other day or more. I was getting a little stronger but I was not losing any weight. The problem with the gym is there is no one there to motivate you but yourself and then you also have to wait for machines or equipment unless you are lucky and no one at the gym is working the same body parts as you. The best thing about Bobby's class is that you work your whole body (a lot of focus on Core) and he is always changing things up so you are never bored. The class is fifty minutes plus five to ten minutes stretching. Bobby is your personal trainer and he is there to keep you motivated along with the other students in the class; everyone in the class is super nice and was giving encouragement from the first day I walked into class. Everyone in class is there for the same reason and they all want you to succeed; if you have been trying to lose weight and nothing seems to working, this is the class for you and I highly recommend giving it a try; you won't regret it. read more
