One of the best gyms in the QC! Have been coming here for 5 years and absolutely love it. If you have a stigma against joining a CrossFit gym due to a stereotype, this gym breaks all of that down. Seriously, the people are the nicest and all athletic abilities are welcome! Come out and give it a shot!!! Ask for Ben and he'll set you up with everything you need to know. read more

Ultimate CrossFit - Interval Training Gyms Near Me - Charlotte, North Carolina

It's been about one year since I started working out at Ultimate CrossFit and I'm just as jazzed today about the gym as I was when I started. Thanks to the great trainers and smart programming I've learned how to lift weights efficiently, increase my speed, and do a variety of exercises I was about damn sure I could never do. Like 50 double unders in a row. Or 100 kipping pull ups. Or weighted push ups - yes, they do exist. Is it expensive? Well, yes and no. If you're making great use out of your membership - i.e. going to classes, heading to open gym, or yoga, or even Olympic lifting, the cost is absolutely justified. I mean, if you're going to spend money on one thing in your life it should be your health...right?! If you have any sort of motivation, you can absolutely make Ultimate CrossFit your home. You'll learn how to workout in an impressive, yet humbling way; you'll absolutely be inspired to come back again and again. And the people who are part of the gym - that includes managers, trainers and members - really make this place what it is. Oh - and they take music requests...listening to some Biggie Smalls really makes a workout. read more

If you're looking for a kick ass workout, this is the place for you. If you're looking for a great community and to find your new best friends and chosen family, this is the place for you. UCF was my second home during the 3 years I lived in Charlotte from 2011 - 2014, and I was so bummed to leave this place and the amazing people there! I recently went back when I was in Charlotte for a wedding and it's still the special place that I remember. Look no further - you'll love it here! read more

I think a true testament to the great crew at Ultimate Crossfit is that I still think very highly of the staff, gym, and athletes at Ultimate even after a relocation moved me out of Charlotte to the west coast. I try to go back when traveling to or through Charlotte - it's that good. Ultimate continues to offer a true Crossfit training experience with a location and hours that work well for professionals working in the downtown Charlotte area. Having worked out with a private coop Crossfit crew before, I found the staff and clients at Ultimate to be top notch. Everyone is there chasing their own personal bests - just the right balance of pushing each other without being narrowly focused on just elite athletes. Some Crossfit gyms can be a bit intimidating of an atmosphere; Ultimate is unique in helping people new to WODs as well as pushing elite athletes further. Ultimate's owner Lance is a great instructor and fun guy to hang with. FYI - Ultimate has a sibling relationship with Crossfit Ballantyne. You can't go wrong with either. Also, another Crossfit gym in the Meck area was started by Ultimate alumni. That said, it seems to be the heart of Crossfit around Charlotte. read more

After researching all the CrossFit gyms in Charlotte, I chose UCF and have been loving it for the past 2 years. Pros: Super clean facility Large and well equipped Friendly, knowledgeable, helpful coaches Welcoming and encouraging members Challenging programming, but also easy to modify to your ability Cons: You will become addicted. read more

This CrossFit gym is phenomenal. I am new to CrossFit and was excited and a little nervous about Olympic lifting. But the coaches are encouraging and do an excellent job of teaching form and technique. Top rate coaches, challenging and fun workouts, excellent music, and a warm and welcoming atmosphere, I am so glad to have found Ultimate Crossfit in South End, Charlotte! read more

At first glance walking into the gym you may mistake it for a gymnastics center. There are parallel bars and rings everywhere I look. Handstand push-ups what??? My curiosity was peaked. I started working out here in September of 2010 and I think I may just be addicted enough to give up some of my running and biking addiction. I may add this is not normal for me to say the least. First and foremost let me discuss the trainers. They are topnotch and always there to correct your form. Always no matter how long you have been Crossfitting. They take the time to explain each movement as if you are a newbie. It is like getting a personal trainer for an hour but you pay much less a session. You want to get faster in your running? I highly suggest you check it out. On a side note I would love some more runners in class to challenge me in the running segments. Yes there are running segments. I did cross country in college and let me point out I have been doing less running since I have been working out here but who can complain about a 6:50 mile from running less? On to the gym itself. There are four bathrooms and two contain a shower. The gym has had a major renovation since I started all for the better. They like to play loud energy pumping music during the workouts but I will mention the gym has a bare bones feel. This is in feel only UC has plenty of equipment to torture yourself with on a daily basis. Please note there is no ac or heat...only to torture you more mu ha ha...I workout early so heat is not an issue for me nor is it a reason for a downgrade in stars. As for the cold you will be sweating so much you will wish it was colder. Trust me on that statement. This is not your "typical" gym. There is a Christmas party, movie viewings and a farmers market to name a few things other gyms do not do. The people attending the gym range from your military types to moms trying to get into better shape. There is no need to feel intimidated all of the people are so nice and friendly. If you get bored easily with workouts you need to try this place out. There is a different workout everyday so I promise no boredom. Oh and they remember exactly who you are after a few sessions. So don't expect to hide! You k now who you are...I cannot say enough good things about this place and this continues to be true 2 years later. Amazing.... read more

Okay - so if you've been working out awhile and need something to elevate your fitness, Ultimate Crossfit is the way to go. You will seriously feel like a beast after finishing one of the classes. Let me back up a bit.... So after doing the Yelp Kicks Butt Crossfit event, I was really keen to add Crossfit into my workout rotation. That said, YKB had an offer with Ultimate Crossfit for half-off a 10 Crossfit class pass. So I started emailing the GM, Mike, about a million questions and he was so helpful that I decided to try it out. You begin with two fundamentals classes where a trainer walks you through the correct way to do the moves, how to read whiteboards and how to work out on all the different machines, which include elements from gymnastics (rings, parallel bars), weights, weighted balls, weighted bars...well you get the idea. Not going to be a cakewalk. To give you an example, while pulling up to the gym around 6:45am for my first fundamentals class, there were people outside walking around with 45 pound plates held over their heads. Being early, and having had no coffee yet, I wondered what I'd gotten myself into. Once I met a few of the trainers and realized they weren't meat heads with drill sergeant tendencies, I began to relax. So back to today...I feel like a complete bad ass. Seriously. We did an intense warm-up and then moved into the WOD (workout of the day), which ended up being a total of 90 pull-ups, 45 overhead squats, and 20 bench presses. The other folks working out were really friendly and encouraged us newcomers. The trainer made sure to watch us to ensure we had good form and weren't feeling overwhelmed with the intensity of the workout. Our trainer also showed us an online tool to track our progress, which I thought was a really great way to keep people coming back. The music was high energy and there are two bathrooms (one with shower with another shower promised soon for those who need to go right into work). Ultimate Crossfit is a great way to kick it up a notch with it's great trainers, welcoming and supportive atmosphere, and kick ass workouts! read more

This place is great! Got a sweet deal with Yelp Kicks Butt...10 classes/sessions for $75. Normally $150, which can be steep, especially if you're a casual "workouter" like me. I've been going to the Y for years, but never could get my grove on consistently. Crossfit is a different story. It's challenging, time sensitive and fun. Yes, fun. The trainers at Ultimate Crossfit do a great job with all levels of experience and endurance. If there's a workout you struggle on, they'll tailor it so you can still enjoy the workout. Don't get me wrong, you are pushed hard and the workout will kick your ass. For that I thank Amber, Chad, Carter & Mike! If you haven't tried Crossfit, you need too! I highly recommend Ultimate Crossfit! read more

Best gym around. The coaches are great, the programming is fantastic. It's a good environment- competitive yet friendly. Pricing is reasonable and classes are frequent, with convenient times. They will work with all level of athletes. I highly recommend coming in for a free trial sometime soon! read more

Best CrossFit community in Charlotte. Educated staff and great trainer to athlete ratios. What makes this gym stand out from other gyms in Charlotte is the sense of community. The owner, Lance, often gives back to his athletes and genuinely cares about each one. Love this place!!! read more

I found this gym after multiple people told me it was a perfect balance of great programming, down to earth people, and a supportive environment. The space is classic CrossFit. No fancy lobby, no towels, no espresso machines. The facility is clean, ample bathrooms and showers. Equipment is up to date. And the coaches are great. There's also a space to train if you do not want to do the workout. In looking for a gym, the people matter almost as much as the facility and i think Ultimate has a nice balance. read more

I drop in to this gym each time I am in town for work. I have always been helped and coached, and this is much appreciated! Love this gym and will be back each time I am in town! Thank Ultimate CrossFit Team for always making me feel apart of your gym FamBam! read more

Ultimate CrossFit has everything you could possibly want in a gym.. plus more! I have visited gyms in different areas along the east coast and this one is by far my favorite. UCF is spacious, has knowledgeable coaches, and all of the equipment you could possibly need. They even have flexible hours and invest into their space every day. Also, regardless of it being a larger gym, it still has a strong sense of community and family-like culture that you don't always find. I would highly recommended this gym to anyone, whether it is your first day or 10th year doing CrossFit! read more

Awesome gym! The trainers are knowledgeable, and take the time to actually coach you and get you comfortable with the movements. It's a super friendly and welcoming group of people. They make it fun and challenging for any fitness level. read more

Well designed, well executed, effective, and fun-- it's exhausting and social at the same time. The high levels of creativity and attentive guidance of the trainers is matched only by the mutual support of the group and the fact it's actually cool enough to get me up before sunrise. Try it once. You'll want more. And you'll get better. read more

I have been affiliated with this gym since crossfit began its climb to THE activity everyone wanted to do, through the apex, and now on its slight decline, as OCR (Obstacle Course Racing) now seems to rule the fitness/activity world. Regardless of world view, UCF has done nothing but get better over time! Excellent trainers who will teach you the correct way to do things, and they do their very best to stop you from doing stupid things that could result in injury. Fellow gym members have always been encouraging and supportive. I have valued friends and acquaintances at this gym. UCF added Charlotte Jiu Jitsu to its physical space and also to its member benefits for a very reasonable extra fee. Yoga has been made available off and on over the years. Member participation has generally determined that. This is a great crossfit and more gym! read more

Have been at Ultimate since moving to Charlotte almost 2 years ago... UCF has great coaches, a friendly community and is reasonably priced. They have a lot of open gym time which is a big bonus!! I'd recommend it for locals as well as visitors. read more

Came into town from California and dropped in at Ultimate Crossfit. The coaches were super accommodating and thorough. The gym is well organized and all the Covid protocols were taken to make everyone feel safe. Highly recommended!!!!! read more

I switched to this gym 2 months ago. This is my 4th crossfit gym and I think it's a good one. They offer a lot of class times which I love. I go in the mornings most of the time but I've gone at noon and night as well. The programming is good and I love the strength focus. The coaches are friendly and helpful. read more

I had the opportunity to drop in on a couple of WODs here this past week while visiting from out of town and loved it! Great programming, friendly, motivating coaches, and great people! Awesome facility with outdoor tents set up for social distancing until things get back to normal. Would definitely recommend and will be returning the next time I'm in Charlotte for a few days. read more

In my opinion Ultimate Crossfit Bootcamp is the perfect fitness program. Several attributes of Boot Camp make it the perfect program for me. These are: Variety - Unlike running or many other exercise regimens, Boot Camp is not boring. Carter and Amber work hard to develop unique daily workouts. Also, Bootcamp is fun and forces me to work my entire body. Camaraderie - It's great to work out with a group of nice people and I feel like I've somehow let the group down if I miss Boot Camp or don't give it my all. Also, while I do not participate in the diet aspect of Boot Camp, the fact that diet is a topic of conversation among the rest of the group makes me think more about what I eat such that I end up making better decisions about food. Regularity - Having a scheduled exercise time pretty much every day helps me fit exercise into a life full of work and family commitments. The fact that Boot Camp happens at 5:30 has also caused me to go to bed earlier and get more sleep. The early morning Boot Camp also makes me think a lot harder about whether to have that 2nd beer or glass of wine with dinner which means I am drinking less. Coaching - As an elementary school, high school and college athlete I have been conditioned to do what my coach says even if it hurts. Without that coaching I get lazy and slack off. The fact that the Carter and Amber "walk the talk" makes it that much easier to do as they say. If you are looking for something different that will shake up the way you exercise and get you in the best shape of your life, Ultimate Crossfit Bootcamp is the place. read more

Awesome coaches, great programming, and a community feel. The best part of coming here is that you feel like you're coming to hang out (and suffer haha) with your friends. The workouts are HARD and will push you, but can be scaled for any level. This is hands down the best way to stay fit. read more

Dropped into the box twice during a trip to Charlotte this week. Had two different trainers who were both awesome and very welcoming. The wods were challenging and the equipment great. All of the members were also very welcoming and brought us in. Highly recommend if you live in town or are just here to drop in. Thanks!! read more

I recently joined the 6:30Am class in Freedom Park. After years of not exercising and having a job that most likely contributed to my case of "office-ass", I'm so glad that I decided do join. After my first day, I was so unbelievably sore-- I even had to use the handicap stall in the restroom just so I could use the handrail to sit down. Every single class will make you sweat and sore. I like working out with Carter, he's a funny dude. I needed to join something like this rather than joining a gym and relying on myself to go every other day because I'm held accountable-- Carter will know if I won't show up and he won't be happy!! read more

Absolutely love this gym! I have worked out at UCF for over 6 years now and can't say enough great things about it. The coaches here really know their stuff which is very important for anyone considering trying Crossfit because if you don't learn to do things the right way (particularly when in comes to lifting) it can easily lead to injury. Another great thing about this gym is the people and the community atmosphere. For the most part everyone is very helpful, friendly and invested in each other's success. That's why so many members of this gym are long-timers like myself. read more
