This review is for the first one, a bedroom ceiling/roof leak that needed mold mitigation, asbestos testing and renovation. March 2025: Leak originally started as a moisture spot on the ceiling in October 2024 but my HOA ignored it. By March 2025, the ceiling had become so compromised that water streamed in like a waterfall during a massive storm. My original contact was Noah - he gave me an estimate (along with two other companies). I really appreciated how Noah was communicative, informative and thorough. And! he didn't badger me w/ phone calls & emails, like the other two companies did. He understood that I said I would take care of the situation when I could b/c I was in the middle of Massage Therapy school. I understood the "risks" of having mold & just shut the bedroom off. Fast forward to August 2025 & now we're ready to take care of the situation. Noah followed protocol of getting an asbestos test first. Luckily, it was negative. Then Spencer, their Mitigation Specialist? built a special containment room, inside the guest bedroom that sealed off the contaminated area. Heavy duty fans stayed on for about 72 hours? so the area could be thoroughly dried after being treated w/ some kind of mold treatment. Noah was available via text when I had questions - that was surprising & super helpful! Once Mitigation was completed, Noah connected me w/ Jacob at their Restoration Department. He sent over a stellar crew led by David & they proceeded to rebuild about a quarter of the bedroom - meant to mention that they had to rip out dry wall, scaffolding, etc. This crew rebuilt and then refinished the area, including re-installing wainscotting and painting the ceiling + walls. The results? This bedroom looks gorgeous! We were thrilled with how thorough/smooth ATH was w/ this process & how the renovation turned out. It's not easy to do that, so I respect him for it. Dan asked if I'd still be willing to consider an itemized quote from him for the work, and he sent a detailed one when I agreed. Then there was a long delay on my part, but when I finally accepted and signed the quote, he was on-site within a week and finished all the restoration work in 1 day.

The experienced plumber that fixed the leak was quick & fast and referred me to using Drystar as a restoration company. I went with it since the plumber was awesome ( but not affiliated with Drystar). Drystar came out quickly with multi fans to dry the attic & removed all the damaged insulation, drywall and baseboard of an affected wall. They sealed off the attic with tape & plastic tarp until it dried out. ( I had to re-tape the plastic barriers myself several times to keep it secure due to cold weather affecting the tape adhesive). My insurance took care of the pay out to me & Drystar... USAA won't talk direct to a restoration company unless you use their preferred vendors . ( So I was a " go between" several times to keep things moving) . The paint job & the drywall replacement was quality work and it looks good. I needed to remind the company to replace the insulation but that was taken care of immediately. I would use them again. Side note : One of the initial Drystar consultants that conducted the estimate of damage & cost that came to my home initially moved onto another company during this whole process & this caused minor delays as well but overall I was happy with the end result. I felt the cost was very fair for the work done. ( the entire process took several weeks due more to insurance procedures ) .
