I cannot thank the team at the Turlock Ulta enough, especially the manager, Christine. On the morning of my stepdaughter's wedding, my scheduled hair stylist texted me saying she was sick and couldn't make it. I was in a complete panic. I walked into Ulta totally unprepared, having expected someone else to do my hair for me. As soon as I walked in, a kind young woman asked if I needed help, and I just burst into tears from the stress. She immediately brought me to Christine, the manager. Christine was an absolute angel. She listened to my situation, calmed me down, and immediately jumped into action. She put me in a chair, did my makeup beautifully herself, and managed to find a stylist in the store to do my hair. They completely saved the day and turned a wedding morning nightmare into a wonderful experience. I am so incredibly grateful for their kindness, empathy, and amazing service. I placed an online order for one can of hairspray for in-store pickup about an hour before arriving. I assumed the order was ready, but when I got there, it wasn't processed yet. I had already paid online and was traveling, so I planned to quickly grab it on my way. When I went to pick up my order, the manager was extremely rude because I didn't have the barcode pulled up, even though I had waited in line and explained the situation. She told me I would need to wait at least two more hours for the single item to be processed. I explained that I was traveling and asked if I could simply grab the hairspray myself and have her check me out. She gave me attitude and said that was "not their policy." She then told me my only option was to cancel the order, go get the same hairspray myself, and then wait in the long checkout line to repurchase it. Again, I tried to explain the situation, letting her know that I was traveling, and I really just needed to pick up the hairspray that I had already paid for. As the manager was getting ready to hit the cancellation button -- at that exact moment, I received a notification on my phone that my order was ready--and another employee was literally walking down the aisle bringing the hairspray to the counter. I did end up getting my order in time, thanks to the other employee. However, the manager's behavior was unnecessary and unprofessional. I'm not leaving her name here, but corporate should really focus on customer service training. This was all over one can of hairspray, and I even offered to grab it myself to make things easier. Approximately around 5:45pm on Sunday, May 10, 2026 on Mothers Day my little family and I walked into Ulta beauty in Turlock, Ca. I was very excited because I only needed a few items and it is rare when i get time out of my day to buy things for myself. Especially on mother's Day it makes it that much more exciting to shop. I was greeted by a gentleman that helped me pick out a couple of items in the redken isles and he was amazing I didn't catch his name but he was the only gentleman in the store working at the time. At this time I started to work my way up to the front with my family when a female with black pants and a white tank top asked me if I'm finding everything okay (with a bad attitude) and later finding out her name is Jennifer I was shocked at how she can ask me that question like if she cared, but her tone didn't seem like it. I did have a question, but before I could ask a question the words wouldn't come out my mouth because I was in shock how little she made me feel. Before I could say anything my mouth opened but nothing came out because she shut me down and said "WE ARE CLOSED! " and I said "oh I didn't know I thought I had a little bit of time left" and she rolled her eyes and walked away so angry at me and she sped walked up to the front of the store. My husband and twin daughters went up to the front of the store to wait in line and I looked around and noticed so many customers still in the store and was unsure why I was the only one that got picked on. I checked my phone and noticed it was 5:55pm. Not only did she make me feel so little and made me feel like I was nothing on my day (Mothers Day) in front of my twin toddler daughters and husband she ruined my experience and she lied about the time. My husband came back to me and said "it's 5:55pm she lied about being closed and her co workers were telling her it's not 6 yet". I tried to put a smile on my face to grab my last item and all I could think about is why someone would try to ruin my day. We worked our way to the front and all I can think about is why Jennifer would act like that with me. I worked in retail for years and I could never treat a customer the way she treated me. I saw her in the front and she's laughing with her co workers up next to the registers and I'm shaking because I don't like conflict. As hard as it was for me I didn't want another woman to feel as little as she made me so I knew I had to let a manager know. I noticed a female by the front door and she was letting customers out the door and I asked "Are you the manager?" And she said "Yes." And I said " I just want to let you know as I'm pointing to Jennifer the female in the black pants and white tank top I said "she was very rude" and before the manger can tell me anything Jennifer starts yelling and getting defensive with me and I started to shake because I was scared by me speaking out I didn't know if she was going to do something. The manger constantly had to say her name constantly to stop her from yelling at me as well as her co workers on the registers they said "Just stop Jennifer " almost as if her behavior is like that all time and I said "Not only were you rude you also lied about the time and it's Mothers day" and she was just yelling making a whole scene the manager didn't get to say much and my husband finished paying for my items and we walked out the store. Very unsatisfied with the customer service. Yelling, pointing, screaming at me because she was in the wrong. Also a manger is constantly saying your name for you to stop and your co workers on top of that saying to stop and you still don't and I had to be the bigger person and walk out before she tries to get closer to me or hurt me. I never again want to feel what I felt yesterday. I hope in all this someone can let Jennifer know that is not how to behave & I hope nobody feels the way I did. read more

My last few visits have been a lot better. The employees greet you and offer you a shopping bag to put your purchases in or ask if you need help finding anything. Now it's the store layout that feels cramped. Very narrow walkways so it feels crowded and you have to plaster yourself against the shelves to let others through. read more

I come to this ulta often, While there are many amazing people that work here and they are quiet kind they weren't as kind to my mother. My mother went in for a signature haircut which is 52$ (highest tier other than the curly cuts) according to the webpage and my own personal experience it includes a consultation, haircut, deep conditioning, and a blowout. So I went ahead and booked it with Bianca F., which i've booked with before and for the same service. My mother goes has the haircut all goes smoothly till the bill where she is charged $73, which was 52 for the haircut and 21 dollars for a blow out. I was very angry and went to the front and asked for the charge to be removed. Bianca states that she let us know that blow dry was add on, but she did not state that and she stated that she will check her cut with the blow dry. So it was already included in the initial service i had booked for and have had MULTIPLE TIMES from ulta. Do not book for Bianca F unless you would like to have a random charge or some sort and have to go to the front and wait for them to work it out. It's super uncomfortable to do that but i won't stand for them charging an older woman more than myself. I am incredibly disappointed and disgusted at this behavior. read more

I went on 7/25 looking for some new makeup and perfumes! The ladys helping me get new makeup and try new perfumes were awesome, and were really helpful and sweet. I was happy to get everything, and to be there even. I got in line though and the next available cashier called me up and was already doing something else and didn't really greet me. It was fine because it is what it is, and then once she was done scanning my stuff I had told her I wanted to find a coupon on my app and my app wasn't really loading so I asked for the free wifi password there and she didn't give it to me all she said was "It doesn't usually work" and told me to "turn off my wifi" and try to load the app that way?? I did and the app still wasn't loading even off my data. So I stood there looking dumb.. then I told her I wanted to redeem my points so she was able to look it up with my # and I was able to get my 3 off but not the 10 dollars/20 dollars off. So I was disappointed because it was like 200 odd something dollars it would of been nice for more money off! Then I put my card into the reader, and it declined several times! It was not her fault, however, she told me to tap my card and my card is a few years old and doesn't have tap implemented in it, to which i told her it doesn't have tap kindly. She tells me "Every card with a chip will have tap." And thats when I sternly told her "My card doesn't have tap." It just felt really offputting.. why try and tell me what my card has and doesn't have.. it just rubbed me the wrong way.? And it didn't seem like she wanted to help me try any other ways to get the 10/20 off or even use a different chip reader. Thankfully my dad was there so i didnt have to do the walk of shame out! Took my 11 year old daughter in to get a hair cut and trim her curtain bangs, we do this frequently at Ulta. When we checked in we told to have a seat and they would be with us. These girls were super nice. Another woman came up and said just so you know you scheduled a "dry cut". ( I have never heard of this) my daughter's favorite part of the whole experience is the washing and styling. That if we wanted a wash it would be $20 more and if we wanted it dried would be $25 more and if we wanted it curled, straitened or styled it would be $30 more. I scheduled and an adult hair cut and usually they wash, condition, cut, dry and styles it up a bit to make sure the cut is what she wanted. Now it would be another $75 on top of the $62 hair cut. I was so confused and have never heard of it done like that. I asked them to wash it for her and cut it. Once it was cut the stylist came over and asked if I wanted to add on a blow out ( we have never had a blow out before) I asked if she could just dry it since we had plans right after and I wanted to see if the bangs were cut right and I didn't want her walking around with wet hair. We paid $75 and left with half wet hair. I will not be going back Ulta for her hair appointments. The services they offer are not deserving of the prices. The attitude of the girls is so unwelcoming on top of being treated as a burden instead of a customer. When I look up online it says Ulta doesn't even offer dry cuts so someone needs to let Ulta in Patterson know. read more

She was more concerned about finding store staff to call and try to clear her book for the following day than performing her job. Got my hair cut yesterday and the girl absolutely butchered my hair. I feel bad because she was so nice but I had waist length hair and had her cut 4 inches off. I also wanted face framing layers. I'm not even sure what to call what I received... she tried to have a different stylist fix my hair but it was beyond repair at that point. Went somewhere else today to get it fixed and my hair now barely reaches my shoulders. I am so upset and have to really try not to cry every time I think about or see my hair. It's a disaster. This is the second horrible haircut I have gotten from ulta. I should've never given them a second chance. I will never go to them again. Should've learned my lesson the first time. read more

Came to ulta to pick up some stuff for my hair since it's soooo Dry and breakage. A girl from the salon helped me out picking out appropriate supplies and she was mentioning that I need a haircut and could do it at ulta! As first of all, I completely forgot that Ulta even provides services like that!! It's like a one stop shop. So she got me in and I only had to wait about 5-10 mins I had a lovely girl named Sydney help me!! She was so down to earth and friendly. She kept the conversation going and made me feel welcome and at ease. She washed my hair and did a deep condition so it's nice and smooth! She trimmed my hair and re did my layers to my liking. Then even straightened and curled it!! Saved me sooooo much time. I was very happy with the results!! Give the girl a raise!!! Sydney was awesome. So thank you Overall. Always enjoy ulta. Visited this location again to purchase eyeshadow. I figured wasn't getting my hair cut, so I would be "safe." Not one person asked me if I needed help, and when I did need it there was no one around. I waited in line for 20 minutes to pay. Why do you always wait so long to pay at this location? The manager and another employee are working the cashier. The manager is spending more time chit chatting with other employees and giving other employees working in the salon tips on how to dye hair better (which is terrifying). So, I suspect some of the long check out is because of this manager. I go to pay and the chip in my card won't read. I used the same card prior to and after leaving Ulta with no issue. I ask if i can swipe it. The manager -who is not helping me- swoops in, grabs my card out of the reader and actually bends it as she "wipes" off my chip. She didn't even ask, and she nearly snapped it. She goes in to say that if the chip won't read it they can't swipe it. Wtf? I've also never had that happen either. I pay with cash. I say, "it is always a hassle in this place." And, I get no response from manager or employee. So, a four-inch uneven haircut and then rude service. Yup. I won't be back, ever. And, I highly suspect nothing will be fixed until corporate steps in to fix problems stemming from poor management. Got my haircut at the Ulta Salon last week. The stylist blow-dried it without styling (just to get it dry), and then curled it. I'm guessing the curling was to hide the almost four inches of difference in length between the right and left side of my head? I now have two (ugly in my opinion) haircuts; one for each side of my head. I don't even want to darken the door of the salon. I know they will want to "fix" it, and now I don't trust the original stylist or the person who hired her. I mean, this isn't a little mistake or a case of someone just not liking their hair. I've been growing my hair out for a year, so I'm especially bummed that I'll be most likely losing a ton of length to fix this mess. I was tired of ordering the wrong shade for myself online from this popular new brand and I decided to actually come into this store after researching they do carry. Glad I did. I found the PERFECT shade I would have never ever have gotten it. I was totally off by many shades. The shade I was going to order online definitely was a big no no. Two employees who work at this Ulta location were so mean and they make me not want to come back to this location. This all happened a while ago but it's the only reason why I won't be shopping here ever again. The problem started here. I asked one of the employees if she could help me find a match of the Anastasia Dipbrow Pomade. She helped me find a match. Then I asked her how to apply the product and she used the brush and applied it onto my right eyebrow. She never described or explained what she was doing. Then she gave me the brush so I can apply it onto my left eyebrow. I asked her how did she do it on my first eyebrow. She just said follow the shape of your eyebrow and apply it. I saw how she did it so I tried it. But it was not as good. Then I asked her again if I was doing it right and if she could help me. She said I need to learn how to apply it because she cannot do both brows. She said it with such attitude and it was disgusting. Like how rude is that??? All I asked was if she could help me since it was my first time trying it on? Then I asked another employee to see if she could help me and she did. She described how it was done and I thought she was nice. Then I asked her if she could help me find a blush that would compliment my skin tone. She told me to just find a blush I liked, swatch it on my skin, and figure it out for myself. Then she walked off. In my head I'm thinking, "What is wrong with people here?" I was just so disgusted with those two employees that I just walked out of the store. Those two women need to work on their attitudes. If people have questions about makeup and they need help, just shut up and help them. Don't be mean about it. Too bad I didn't know their names. If I did, I would have mentioned them. The only person that genuinely welcomes me is the security guard, all the time. I will opt to shop at a competitors store for now on.
