I've been a long time customer of Ulta. I've had good experiences in the past. I went in recently because I wanted to get some help choosing colors for new eye shadow. I wanted a glitter /shimmer look and wanted some professional help to determine good colors for my eyes. The clerk directed me to a few brands that have the glitter/shimmer look but I keep asking what colors and combinations she would recommend and she said "any color", you just need to try them. She then left me to fend on my own. At that point I decided to leave the store and go home and dig through my existing shadows. This was a missed sale and left me feeling like the days of helpful sales personnel are gone. (I remember once visiting Ulta in the past many years ago and a sales clerk asking me if they could use and eyebrow pencil on me and I said "yes" After that I bought the brow pencil, continue to buy that same pencil and even took my mom back so the clerk could help her with selecting the same pencil. To date I've been buying these same brow pencils for both my mom and I for years. ) What happened to the days when clerks would do a mini makeover on you to help sell products and help the customer make good choices? read more

I've been to this Ulta for years and up until today, service has always been great. I walked in (not on a busy night) and I roamed around the store a few times not finding one person to help me nor approach me to offer help. I had to go to the front to find someone. I also had a pick up purchase where I had to wait a long for someone to look for my order in the back (because she didn't bother to look at the orders at the counter) and never came back. I feel like this stores energy completely changed. i can tell the employees aren't as happy and full of enthusiasm as they used to be. I went there three weeks in a row and none of the girls i usually see and get help from who know me were there. The super skinny girl with long black hair wasn't there, Kaylee wasn't there and some others i'm used to who just always know their stuff and are happy to help. Last time i was shopping there, I needed help finding a product in Mac and I had to ask a group of girls talking and i believe one of them was the manager cause they were asked to come to the cash register for something after a I finished asking them my question. I also needed a hair as well product on top of Mac. I went up to the group of girls who weren't very friendly when I approached and i felt like i wasn't supposed be there and like I was doing something wrong by asking them a question. The Mac girl seemed annoyed to have to shade match me and she also had her hair done so I asked her a question about the hair product I needed and she just quickly walked to the section and pointed to a brand she heard worked well and walked away and continued her conversation with her friends. They didn't act like employees they acted like the way you act when your in the locker rooms in high school. I also noticed the shift in attitude the manager had to the younger looking girl who needed her help and interrupted them laughing and talking. I am there every week or two and every time I have needed help this sweet person has gone out of their way to help me, order my products online that they were out of, give me samples of things I might like, and is constantly engaging customers and staff in a positive manner. Me and my sister walked in so we can get things for her and our experience was pretty bad. We were looking for a cleansing balm and some employee tried to help and once she found what she was looking for they said it was at Sephora But she remembers buying it at Ulta and one of the employees said straight to us saying she was wrong. And we both worked/work customer service as well and I know for a fact you DO NOT! Say that to a customer that is buying from you. Just went shopping for my birthday today and I was followed around by a blonde woman with shorter stature. I overheard her tell the manager "she had 5 products in her hand and look how many is there now" because I gave them to my husband to be put in a basket... she then followed me the rest of my shopping experience. I never leave reviews like this but it was just really stupid honestly. I understand I'm dressed in sweatpants and don't look like I have a lot of money, but I've spent more money than I'd like to admit at Ulta and I'm not sure I'll be back after this. I was just in looking for a few things for a production I'm in and while browsing the first woman was helpful and pointed out a few brands that were cruelty free and mentioned nothing of the time even though i was looking for waterproof mascara & eyeliner. The second woman asked me at 5:02 if I was doing okay, when I said with a smile "uhh, yeah I guess so" very unsure, and about to ask for a bit of direction, instead of offering some help, which.. other customers were receiving guidance still from other employees, she said "well you know we close at 5pm" smiled and walked away. I have been back to this store twice and they keep randomly closing. Knocked on the door even and an associate came to talk to me. Asked how am I supposed to return something? She said go to a different Ulta. She wasn't rude but certainly I expected a little bit of sympathy or acknowledgement for how inconvenient this is. When will this nonsense end? My time is valuable. I've spent a total of 90 min at this point driving to this store trying to guess when they might be open. The staff was also pretty rude when I actually got in the first time a couple weeks ago. I had been at an appointment with my Dermatologist; she suggested getting a shampoo for my hair type for the occasional flakiness that is attributed to weather change. I asked for help With choosing the right shampoo. Hi started Working with this woman, she was excellent, but there was a guy with her that was " in training," and he wanted to know my shampoo, wanted to know this and that; he was just too intrusive. I am writing this review to give a shout out to one of their employees to just seems to truly love his job and be a compassionate, amazing young man. Unfortunately, I don't know his name, he is always there I'm assuming probably some form of management, but he's very handsome and brown hair olive skin, and he definitely knows what he's doing! I went in today and they had moved things around and I was looking for one specific eyeshadow, and all I could tell him was where it used to be... Kind of... And he knew exactly what I was talking about and found me the eyeshadow. I am in the store a lot and I have never seen him. Have a bad day! He's always helpful. I wish there was a 1/2 star. I've been standing in line for 25 minutes, probably 5 people have gone through the line. Maybe there's one person working but I'm so far from the register I have no idea, so 0 stars for staffing. There's always a long line here, but I'm probably another 30 minutes from the register. The sales people are always sweet and awesome, but they work for individual lines, so they often push just those lines other than what would be the best fit for your needs. I'll still shop here because it's convenient. They just need some help with managing the store. read more

Great staff | Nice location $$ I came here for the first time because I needed a color match for foundation and concealer; it's for a wedding I'll be attending in a couple weeks and a wedding I'll be filming afterwards. So, I kinda need to look professional. From when I first entered the store, I was greeted by multiple staff working the floor. People are so friendly here, I couldn't believe it. The other Ulta locations I've been to (back in CA) and Sephora too, do not have as great of a service like this place. This one lady took the time to find my correct shade with Bare Minerals. I've got yellow golden undertones, so it was a little bit of a challenge to find a foundation and concealer that would match my in-between shade. Most products are either too pink or too dark. Finally, we found a product that matched perfectly. She removed the other samples that she left on my face so I wouldn't walk out looking like a zebra mess. I was in and out within 10 minutes. The ladies at the check-out counter were really friendly too. I don't know why others experienced the complete opposite, but I really liked coming here. read more

My daughter had her hair highlighted and it came out gorgeous. The stylist was very professional and did a wonderful job. She needed some dead ends cut off and she said that would be 65.00. I said we wanted a trim not a hair cut, just the dead ends cut from the back of the hair that would have taken not more than ten minutes. She said anytime the scissors touch the hair they tack on 65 bucks, We spend 165 and they want another 65 for a trim?? this is unacceptable and a horrible business practice. If a customer is already spending over a 100 they should be able to add a trim for 30 dollars or under. read more

I do all my shopping at this location now for the most part. The folks who work here, like any Ulta, range from super helpful and friendly to they could care less. This location does seem much cleaner than some of the others and product is less dumped all over the place. ALWAYS look at their clearance section since it changes daily and they have some good stuff in there for pretty great prices. read more

Senior Designer Sarah was my hair maven tonight, and I'm so glad to have scheduled services with her! She really enjoys her craft and had such enthusiasm even though I was her last appointment on a Saturday night. She's super knowledgeable, having been in the business 10 years. I feel like she's very current with the latest techniques and styling products. We used Redken products, Yay!-- I'm a fan of Redken products and training programs. Sarah majorly refreshed some damage and was very careful and meticulous. She recommended a few extras (additional charge) that proved beneficial to the overall service. She also gave a great consult before we started & a printed quote with two options to choose. I chose the higher end package for a few reasons & wasn't pressured into it at all. I really like Sarah's attention to detail in assessing my hair and providing the color, highlights & cut we chose. She explained everything along the way. I left with a fuller, healthier head of hair with loads of volume thanks to all of Sarah's decisions. She is really a gem and talented artist! This visit surpassed my expectations of Ulta. I was lucky to stumble upon such a great hair designer. Many of the sales ladies working on the floor have their hair done by the in-house team of artists. They all have the cutest hair color and hair cuts. I had such a positive experience, we already have my next visit on the books :) read more

Some of the worst people work here. Vendors are competitive and fight over customers making you feel uncomfortable. Management is rude and degrades employees. Employees are overworked and understaffed. The managers degrade employees for every time a customer doesn't want to give their phone number at check out, creating a hierarchy system from best to worst employee. read more

Ulta is the big-box generic bland beauty supply store around here. Actually, they're the ONLY beauty supply store around this part of the suburbs, so I end up going there simply because it's my only option. It's true they do have a LOT of products, many of them are salon brands, but they do have drugstore brands too, which is nice on the budget. I've more often than not found they are out of the product/color/item that I want, and repeat visits have shown that they don't restock all products each week. Some staff is friendly and helpful and others, well, they don't seem very satisfied with their jobs. So it's a mixed bag when you walk in here. read more

I had a wonderful color experience with Taylor V.! She is VERY creative, thorough ( she had to be to cover all my grey hair), fun, friendly AND professional. This was my first time in and she spent some time asking questions about my color history, showing me options, making recommendations and helping me make an appropriate decision. She is a real professional. I highly recommend her. ULTA is Disneyland for Women! Just walking in makes you feel special! This is the WORST Ulta and I love Ulta. I came in to purchase lipgloss because it was the deal of the day at $3 each. I also decided to take advantage of the buy 2 get 2 and I grabbed bronzer, eye gel sticks and primer. I get in line and wait forever because the cashier tells the customer you have Ulta Points do you want to redeem them. She has no idea so the cashier explains the program THEN the customer says I forgot something so she leaves to go get what she needs and the cashier still doesn't help me so I keep waiting. Finally it is my turn to pay and the cashier says this is a tester for bronzer we don't have any left. Are you kidding me?!?!? I just waited in line for 10 minutes so I told her to grab me something else and I will do the exchange later. Then she says you have 6 items and all Ulta products are buy 2 get 2. I respond with even the lipgloss that is $3 today because it's Thursday. Oh yeah it's Thursday she replies. It is sad when a customer knows the sales and the employee doesn't. What should have been an in and out visit took 20 plus minutes. I won't be visiting this location again. read more

I'm a girl. I wear makeup. I love Ulta. Love! But, oh my gosh. There needs to be negative stars for this Ulta location. Less than negative stars, because the service at this Ulta IS THE WORST I'VE EVER EXPERIENCED. After I was done picking up what I needed, I began waiting in line while someone was being checked out. The customer before forgot something so she stepped out of line -- and you would think that the cashier would help me. BUT NO - The cashier NEVER acknowledged me.... and blantly made me wait 15 MINUTES IN LINE. I had two items! She could have easily rang me up. Then... the cashier experience. Gosh. Not only did she tell me I couldn't 'purchase' one of my items because it was an 'exclusive' product -- I've purchased it several times before -- she put it behind the counter! On top of that, she DIDN'T EVEN ANSWER ANY of my questions about a product I was searching for. She told me that 'we don't sell those lip products' when I clearly said I was looking for an eyeshadow. Train your employees at this location, because it made me, a customer, feel stupid. That's the worst feeling, and so, so rude. If you want no customer service and want to wait to check out, go to this Ulta. For me, after this HORRIBLE experience, I'm about 1000% sure I'll NEVER be going back to this location.
