OK... I have one name for you! Trinity! This girl knows her way around some color! She cares about the integrity of your hair and will do everything in her power to make it so you walk out happy and gorgeous! I had this very stubborn keratin clenditioner in my hair... Kera Color to be precise... And that crap is so stubborn if you want to go lighter... Especially if you use the blue! Trinity did everything in her power to get as much of that color out of my hair before applying any sort of chemical. It took a little bit longer, but it was nice to have a stylist who does not cut corners for the sake of moving onto her next client. She cares about her clients and that says a lot! This use to be my favorite Ulta! However lately, I rather avoid this place at all costs. The salon was usually my go to however in a recent visit, I felt discriminated against by one of the stylist. I brought my 8 year old sister in for a silk press, this was not the first time and for some reason the girl assigned, stated her hair was undoable because she is not familiar with the texture. How horrible to embarrass my sister when it was never a problem before. I complained to the corporate and was never contacted by the manager for an apology. Today I came in the the horrible weather and was met with a rude associate for pick up order. Came in with a friend on a weekend. It was busy, which is not surprising as it's a weekend. We were looking for a brand of makeup my friend saw on a video. Per the video, the brand could be found at Ulta. As we walked up, we noticed a display case in the window with a dirty cleaning cloth laying on a shelf (yuck). When we walked in, there were two employees at the door chitchatting and holding the bags they hand out to customers to put their merchandise in. Neither employee greeted us or offered us a bag. We walked around looking for the makeup but neither of us was familiar with the brand. Finally, an employee came up and asked if we needed assistance. When my friend gave her the name of the makeup, the saleswoman snapped "that's Sephora!". My friend apologized and explained that she had gotten the information off a video which stated the makeup was available at Ulta. The sales woman then demanded to know what the packaging looked like. Neither of us was familiar with the brand and therefore not familiar with the look of the packaging. At this point, we decided it was a lost cause and just decided to look around to see what they had. The store was dirty and disorganized. You could see that customers had picked up items, decided they didn't want them, and then set the item down in a random spot. No one was going around to make sure things were back in its proper place, despite the fact that you had two employees at the front who were having a conversation with each other instead of working. The fragrance section was overpowering as if somebody had gone through and tested all the perfume at once. The bottles of nail polish were dusty, and some of the colors had separated, leading me to think these were older products. In the end, we ended up leaving without purchasing anything and I doubt either of us will be back soon, if at all. read more

Hire a new manager that loves her job and that isn't there for the money and the perks of her job, and when you give someone an appointment for anything don't just let them wait and waste their time cos some people might be coming in to go to an event regardless whether it's a party a wedding a family gathering etc., be considerate of other peoples schedule if you want the people to be considerate of yours. Waited 15 minutes to check out with no one in front of me. I honestly would have just put my things down and left if I didn't really need the product and already had so much time invested. Should be safe for everybody to shop here. With that being said, I asked one of the women here to point me in the direction of a brand to which she did guide me and walked away without even asking for questions. Sad to see this location has such low reviews. I've been here dozens of times and have always had pleasant experiences with the employees. Usually at other Ulta locations employees typically don't ask if I need help but here they seem to often and they seem to always be very attentive of each other and guests plus they seem to enjoy working there. Employee Ben helped my mom find her new favorite tinted sunscreen (juice beauty) and was so knowledgeable about products. Him and other staff seem to always give honest feedback when I ask which is super appreciated. I was shocked by the low reviews until I shopped there earlier today. It's been a few years since I've been here but damn, the change is drastically worse. First and foremost, I will be returning everything I just bought. Had there been testers, I could have tested these items to see if they were my shade but there weren't any. There also weren't any sales associates willing to help me look for what I needed which is why I ended up buying the wrong things. Also, your security guard needs to chill. He makes all of your customers feel like they're in prison with his how he follows everyone around with suspicion. I'm not one to write bad reviews often, ever really - as I just simply don't have time. But the Lodi location is the worst Ulta I've ever been to hands down! Mind you, i have the highest credit card with them. Story is, I went to return a $275 straightener that literally did not work on my hair and they tried to deny me + not give me a return? What? They stated "their policy changed" i had bought it in November and tried to take it back a little over 30 days range. Long story short after going back and forth with them politely but sternly - they gave me a store merchandise card - that I CANNOT use online (figured that out after trying to pay at checkout), drove to the store and they can't even order for me IN store what I need, and have it shipped. I have NEVER had anything like this happen before. It's truly bizarre. I had the receipt + everything. Not to mention it's on my actual account. The reason I've stayed with Ulta, use my card so much - is because they have a great point system, their return policy WAS fabulous (especially for a mama) I didn't feel stuck if I got any products that I was not a fan of. Usually any other location customer service is great. After this - I will not be shopping at this Ulta anymore, I will literately drive to any other location to use the rest of this card that I have the merchandise credit. I also plan to cancel + not use my credit line. I will now be shopping Sephora or anywhere else where. My daughter got her make up done at this Location for a photoshot. Eyeshadow was not mixed correctly and took way longer that expected. We had to move and pay extra for her not been ready on time. I wasn't not sitting near her and saw it until we left as we were running late. Got the picture back and you could even see it on the photos. She proceeded to tell me why it wasn't a good idea and made me feel like my daughter and I were being stereotyped since we both have ethnic hair. I really don't know how to review places like this. Because a majority of the time I'm holding a basket and my girls are just throwing stuff in the basket. 10/10 times I'm just a spectator. I don't mind at all, I just love spending time with both of them. So we've been coming to Ulta for sometime now. My youngest is 15 now. She was into makeup for a few years. But now she's winged off make up. Well for the time being, lol. My eldest is 24 and she is still into makeup. But not a lot like when she was younger. I could never say what I was buying they just tell me they need this and that. Girl stuff, you know. But they were teaching me about lipstick, foundation, eye shadow, lip liner and nail polish. This was through out the years. This review is like several years of different experiences each time we came to Ulta. From when they were younger. Now we only made the trip once this year to Ulta Beauty. I was with my eldest daughter. We had a good time. I was holding a basket and she was doing her thing. My bestie and I came here on payday Friday to treat ourselves with our hard earned money after a long week at work where we are medical professionals. We were "welcomed" by the security guard literally following us around the store (she is African American and I am Hispanic). It was extremely obvious as he stood right behind us in an already tight aisle. When confronted, he said "I'm just doing my job." We felt extremely uncomfortable and obviously profiled. Needless to say we didn't want to spend a dime here and left the store. Probably the worst Haircut I've ever received in my entire life. It has been about two months and it's still a disaster. I came in because I needed a color correction and a haircut.. my hair had some damage since I was a platinum blonde but it did not need to be cut more than 2 inches. The hairstylist completely ruined my hair and cut approximately 4/5 inches off. Not only did she cut it too short but she tried doing these layers that look HORRIBLE! She didn't advise she was doing this to my hair which I find that completely unprofessional... the color correction wasn't done correctly at all.. so my advice if find a stylist who has actual experience and will not ruin your hair. It was and it is still so bad that I have to wear a hat everyday... I tried talking to the store manager about it but she said there was nothing that could be done at this point only cutting my hair again. I told her no thank you because it was left in such a horrible state that I no longer trusted últa with it. She did not really try to help at all and sounded like she was annoyed while I was explaining how bad their hairstylist left my hair... it almost sounded like she was agreeing with the stylist rather than listening to my experience. Basic Ulta with average service and usually has what you're looking for. They have gotten better within the last year, not as dirty and staff seems more friendly and helpful. I love that they carry both high end and drugstore products and have a generous return policy for opened items. Sometimes some high end products don't work for you and it's nice to know you can get your money back.
