Went in for a facial wax(lip, chin, sides, brows). First off they placed me in a shampoo area, very BAD lighting for a wax & uncomfortable. Wax didn't seem even hot enough when she applied it. She asked me to check via a mirror, but I couldn't see due to the bad lighting. As soon as I got to my car I noticed that she missed every single section she waxed. Not worth the $65, quite frankly I deserve my money back bc I look the same as I did when it walked in there. I would give one star, but gave Theo bc of the customer service throughout the store was good. Just would NOT GET WAXED HERE. read more

Did a curbside pick up so I wouldn't have to get out with my kids. Following the instructions on notifying them I was parked etc... waited for almost 15 minutes because maybe they were busy, trying to be considerate. My 18 year-old daughter wanted an all over hair dye as her Christmas gift. We first attempted to do it the week after Christmas. We had taken her to Ulta, as I didn't really know of someone to do it off hand, and Ulta should know what they are doing, right? We explained what we wanted, and the stylist let us know that it would probably be a long process because my daughter has very dark hair. That was fine. I left her there. She called not long after to tell me that the stylist told her she couldn't do what my daughter wanted in one visit after all. She wanted to start and then have my daughter come back for another visit later. This didn't sound right to me, but I agreed. When I went back to check on things, my daughter was just sitting waiting. Her stylist had a family emergency and had had to leave. I understand family comes first. But it's also very difficult to be the paying customer who is expecting service and ends up just sitting around. Her stylist finally returned, and I left. What my daughter ended up with- after wanting all over blue hair- was green highlights in her hair. They weren't very well done, and my husband, who picked her up, was charged double the amount that we were told it would be- even though she had had to wait 45 minutes or more for the stylist to return. My daughter was devastated- to say the least. I called the store immediately and requested a refund. The best thing I can say about the visit is that after I refused the offer to take her back and let someone "fix it" they did refund my money. I've since taken my daughter to another awesome stylist who did an amazing job. He said over and over that the stylist at Ulta had done some ridiculous things that he couldn't believe. It took him five hours to get my daughter's hair to the look that she wanted- part of the time was trying to undo what Ulta had done. read more

I can't say enough good things about this Ulta store. I have had the pleasure of dealing with Sales associates, Brow Bar, Neeka (for awesome facials and Regina in the Salon. They are always very friendly and helpful. Regina is the best stylist I have ever went to and trust me when I say I'm picky! She always listens and gives me exactly what I want. This place is always clean and the staff is helpful. I didn't like that "policy" says they can't color match in a certain section of the store. I ended up spending $50 I didn't have for my cousin for prom. That was definitely not in my budget so I'm sure you could only imagine how I felt when I felt forced to buy a foundation well over drugstore prices because of a policy. We are asked if we need help several times and there is always a ulta representative within 10 feet of us "checking inventory". I love this Ulta! It is well staffed, clean, welcoming, and has a wide variety of product choices. If you're looking for cheaper drug store cosmetics you can find them here, and if you're looking for up-scale, pricey items, they're at Ulta also. I always get the help I need; in fact I've made a few friends here as I've been more of a regular. One of the managers even gave me a free lip gloss that is kept behind the counter as a gift because we had a great conversation. Ulta's return policy is AMAZING!! I am more than willing to try new products without a fear of losing money. I've returned 3 or 4 items because they weren't working well enough for me and each time the associates gladly took them and allowed me to make my exchanges with 0 hassle. read more

Haircuts and products- great. Color? Run! Went in to get balayage brought up from the bottom half to come up a bit. Turned out 3 hours later and 3 chemical processes to get really bad color (hot spots galore!). I haven't color processed my hair in a decade and now it's so messed up! Regina has no clue how to color. I went elsewhere to get it corrected. Terrible experience! She even asked me which color I wanted on the second toner! That's YOUR job to tell ME what is required to balance my hair! I don't know!? That's like me taking my car to a mechanic and him asking me how to fix it! read more

I booked a haircut with Rina for today and I could not be happier with the results! She was so pleasant when I arrived and when she was ready for me she took me to her chair and started asking what I wanted. I explained to her that the last hair cut I got (at chain salon that I won't mention by name) was not what I wanted. I have longish hair and had asked for layers, and while I got layers they weren't blended well and it just wasn't pretty. Rina ran her fingers through my hair just checking it out and assured me that it could be fixed. And while I was skeptical, the minute she was finished and turned me around to look at the end result all my skepticism was erased! I felt like I was looking at a different woman in the mirror. I couldn't stop smiling and telling her how much I LOVE it! I will definitely be seeing Rina again in two months (her recommendation to keep up my new look!)! I came into the hair salon with high expectations since a men's haircut is $30. I asked for my sides and my back to be clipped to a 7 (about 7/8 in long) and even showed a picture of exactly what I wanted. Carl, the senior stylist, used a size 6 clipper and somehow clipped my hair to about a size 2 clipper (1/4 in long). After he butchered my hair, I was paying for the haircut and one of the store clerks mentioned how I looked like I was 12, speaking in a nice and complimentary tone, as if looking 12 is supposed to be a good thing... I'm a 19 year old guy. I am never going back there. read more

I love shopping at Ulta. I went in to buy bronzer today . I ended buying bronzer, blush, lip gloss because they had a free 12 makeup items with purchase of Ulta items valued at $21. The staff is really helpful. My only complaint is that they need to replace testers more. A few testers weren't available to try. read more

Every time I come into this store, there is a retail assistant there to help me with my needs. I have sensitive skin that is having some issues right now and instead of trying to talk me into something super expensive, one of the ladies who works there walked me around the store and helped me find exactly what my skin needed which, in this case was a $5 Ulta mineral foundation. I've been to enough make up and beauty stores to know what the end game for them usually is (getting the customer to spend as much money as possible) but at Ulta in Rock Hill, they really cared about me and my needs over the money. read more

Don't waste your time here. They don't keep their products in stock and they aren't helpful. I came in looking for lipstick and the girl said "I can't help you; I'm terrible at picking colors out." And walked away. All of the colors I liked were out of stock. I cleaned and tried on a few myself using their employee makeup stations. DO NOT ALLOW THIS SALON TO TOUCH YOUR HAIR. I made an appointment to have my roots colored and my highlights touched up two weeks in advance and was assured that my stylist Robert would do an excellent job. I arrived on time and everything was going well until the foils started to be removed and my hair was 50 shades darker than it was when I arrived. I had very FEW strains of highlighted color and lots and lots of DARK BROWN hair. Robert then cut my hair and dried it and styled it with a flat iron. As he was styling my hair I noticed a lot of smoke coming from the iron. I assumed this was due to the tremendous amount of product he had put into my hair so I was alarmed but not frightened. I was not satisfied with the end color but thought I could live with the much darker result, until I got home and discovered I had horizontal blonde lines going through my hair and that the ends of my hair had been burned. I immediately went back to the salon and confronted Robert about the horizontal blonde lines and he said "Oh I didn't notice those". Really you cut, dried and styled my hair but you didn't see the horizontal lines! And have you ever heard of using a low heat setting on the flat iron? A blind person could see how burnt my ends were. I've never had such a thing happen before so I had no idea what I was in store for next. Robert then proceeded to put an entire bottle of toner on my hair and sat me in a chair while he cut another customers hair. I sat for 10-15 minutes then he washed out the toner and I had basically EVEN DARKER HAIR with blonde spots throughout my entire head. So Robert put another entire bottle of toner on my hair and had me sit for another 10-15 minutes. Again he washed out the toner and added something else to my hair as he washed it, I'm still not sure of exactly what that was but as you can guess by now my hair is almost black. He dried my hair again and offered to put in more highlights later in the week. I was so upset that I just wanted out of the salon, mind you it is 5 hours later and I've spend all day in this salon. I decided to go home and survey the mess that was now my hair. After crying I went back to the salon for a full refund and had the manager Carl (who watched everything from his chair) apologize and say "I know this isn't what you were looking for". I waited a week and went to another salon, they did what they could to put in some highlights without all of my hair falling out but the ends were so burnt from that flat iron I was forced to have another 2 inches cut from my already above shoulder length hair just to blend everything together. So in all I had my hair COMPLETELY RUINED at Ulta by Robert and it cost me $250 at another salon to have another stylist attempt to save as much of my hair as possible. I WILL NEVER RETURN TO ULTA. read more
