Make up I asked the stylist for.
    Alexis K.

This salon was recommended to me for bridal hair and make up by a friend of mine who was a bridesmaid in another wedding. I looked at their portfolio online and had seen some pretty decent photos. After my first trial at another salon going badly, I made an appointment for a consultation at salon naman with a lot of hope in my heart. The consultation was a very formal business like meeting, of which I was impressed. The salon is super clean, chic, and the receptionist staff are very polite. It seemed like a great atmosphere... I liked that all of my bridesmaids and me would have a team of stylists working on them, instead of one person working on all of us who would be crunched for time with a party of 6. However, I didn't like not being able to see any of the stylists work or even meet them before booking my trial run. I went ahead and scheduled the trial run for myself anyways, being desperate to find someone 3 months before the wedding. At the trial I showed my stylist a picture of the hair and make up I wanted, I said I wanted a soft dewy mauve look on my face. And a soft curly updo with cascading curls. I explained what happened with my first trial and what could possibly be done differently, how I did not want my foundation to look "cakey" and that I wanted to look natural. (Thought it was cool this place had their own line of make up products). (Explained that on the day of the wedding I would have tinted brows and I also had eyelash extensions on so I couldn't have mascara on the top.) It was one of the WORST experiences of my entire life!! On my first look, the foundation was just WAYYY too much. You could see harsh lines because she used a flat make up brush. And I looked like a ghost because of how much highlighter was used. I said I didn't like it. The eyeshadow was orange, not pink. (Seemed like after thinking about it, they didn't have the colors I wanted. Wish she would've just told me that instead of applying the wrong color.) She asked me would I prefer a powder foundation that would be more lightweight. I agreed to let her fix it. That looked a bit better, but it wasn't very bridal. I looked like my make up was fixed to go to the mall. Overall on the make up: -she didn't line my waterline. -brush mark strokes on my face - foundation was too light for my skin tone, and cakey. - I know I said I couldn't have mascara on my top lashes, but she could've put mascara on the bottom. - she didn't line my lower lip - the highlighter they use flakes and is super white. - my lips and eyeshadow were orange. - she did absolutely no contour. - the eyeliner was brown and barely visible, also poor application. - Left the make up on throughout the day to see if it would grow on me and to get an idea of it's wear. My face started itching after about 30 min after wearing it. Progressively got worse after the next hour, felt like I would itch my skin off it was bothering me so bad. Overall take on the hair. - she had no idea what to do with the sides. There were little pieces that just looked really weird. - how she curled my hair before she started doing the updo, the curls were coming out as she was styling. - In the back of the updo the curls were not defined at all and not cascading like I had asked. Way too tight. I had her pull some of the curls out to look softer, but that didn't look any better since the curls had already started off bad. I paid a $100 because I thought the look would grow on me, and I thought that perhaps I was just being a bit picky and what I was asking for was just not possible for my hair type or face structure. I completely understand that stylists cannot make you look exactly like the inspiration photo.. but it was very obvious when I left I wasn't happy. & it got worse every time I looked in the mirror. My opinion of doubting myself has since changed as I had a family friend do my hair and make up (not licensed at all), she was free... and it was exactly what I wanted. Just left astonished how I paid so much, for something clearly not like the picture I showed her and this was by someone who had been working in the industry for 10 years I believe.... and it was horrible. But someone who has no professional experience did it better. Also just want to add the pictures I posted from me at my wedding, I know aren't the best of quality since I don't have my professional photos back yet, but there's still a big difference.

I've given this salon so many chances and every time was a disappointment. The service I went to the salon for was tape in hair extensions. I had Kat as my stylist. Super nice girl but doesn't seem to know what she is doing when it comes to hair extensions. Please see the timeline below: Beginning of May was my first appointment and seemed legitimate and they had knowledge around extensions. I moved in the area and was getting extensions done at Dolce Lusso and never had issues. Needless to say, I am back with them today. I had to come back two weeks later as 5 extensions fell out. I've never had this happen and especially during this short time period. They put them back in for free which I thought was great. However, a week later another fell out. At this point I'm questioning the level of expertise, tape quality and overall knowledge of this service. I call to book another appointment to get them all taken out and out back in. They had me come after hours and the whole process seemed extremely rushed. My hair wasn't even and extensions seemed not lined up and all over the place. I had so much tape residue in my hair it was hard to brush. The last chance I gave them was to call and move my scheduled appointment up a week as they starting falling out AGAIN. They couldn't find time and didn't seem to care about problems thus far. I then cancelled all my future appointments and decided that was it. Today, I am current at a Dolce Lusso salon in Kingsley and blown away by the feedback they have given me. The tape they used is super cheap and my hair is in dreads. In addition, too much hair was between each extension. Overall, I had a terrible experience. If you ever want hair extensions do not go there! Go to a salon that knows what they are doing and spend the extra money. I am a Dolce Lusso girl for life. I've included pictures of what Salon Naman extensions looked like three weeks into a 6-8 week process

they were amazing!!! i had such a good experience and the staff was so sweet! she gave me a great treatment and they were SO NICE! i will definitely recommend!

She keeps deleting my reviews so I will continue to make accounts. If you are a customer service business learn how to handle unhappy customers. The salon manager is known for threatening and intimidating to get their way and keep the happy reviews. Just know what you're dealing with god forbid something goes wrong. Wednesday I went to get a completely new look at salon naman. The stylist did her best and was super nice but unfortunately it did end in my hair being overprocessed. The issue is no longer with the stylist. I went back an hour after the initial service to ask for a refund since it was destroyed. They wouldnt admit that my hair was over processed and told me they couldn't guarantee a total refund and would have to go through a chain of people. The following morning my mom called in my behalf because I'm too polite. The salon manger accused me of bleaching and destroying my own hair and told my mom that I wasn't a big enough person to talk to her myself. I then drove down to the salon to continue the conversation. The salon manager did apologize for the comment about me not being a big enough person. I did apologize for my mom my mom calling on my behalf and I wanted to have a civil conversation. She kept talking over me but I stayed quiet and just answered her question. She did offer me a full refund, free product to help my hair recover, and a hair treatment at the salon. I thanked her and left. My mom left a review on my behalf. The salon manager then sent me the following email threatening legal and police action. She is very disrespectful and unprofessional. Again this is not in the stylist at all. The salon manager and I agreed the stylist did what the stylist thought was best and that was the end of it. The fact she was threatening us if we didn't take down the review is insane. I payed over $400 for damaged hair. Just want it to be known what you will have to deal with if a service goes wrong. She is now going back on her word for the refund. It is legal to record conversations in SC. Record anything conversation you have with any managers here. They will say whatever they have to to make you happy then go back on it when you leave. I'm now disputing the charge and have the audio of her agreeing to a full refund that I can submit to the bank.

Excellent Salon. Excellent service from all employees at the salon. The ladies at the front desk are very friendly and accomadating. The stylists were friendly, professional and listened to my wants. I have recommended this salon to anyone that asks that is looking and will continue to do so. Thank you Heather for making me feel beautiful!

Salon Naman has amazing customer service, and I felt heard and valued as a customer. Although I felt like I walked out with a much lighter wallet, it was well worth it! Heather and Jessica worked well together to give my hair life.

    What I asked for

I went in for a junior stylist special. I was quoted $93 on the phone for cut, color, and partial highlights. When I arrived I was graciously greeted and given a tour of the salon and information on the products that they use.. It is a very nice salon, they have great products, and they even sell a small amount of clothes, jewelry, and miscellaneous fun stuff. I was wanting an all over color to even out my tones and a couple face framing chunky blonde highlights in the front only. My stylist was very nice and my hair looked good when it was finished, but it really wasn't what I had asked for.. I even had pictures, so I'm not sure where the confusion happened. I got the all over color, but ended up with just a lighter color in the front. There are not any real highlighted pieces that stand out. Also, a different hair treatment was recommended to me than the one that came with the package. Also the toner was not included in the price I was told and a toner is usually always needed when you go lighter. So I ended up paying a $176 for my hair in instead of 93.

    Feeling awesome!

She was making sure I was ok when she was doing it and I thought that was nice. Every mask she put on me, she told me what it was and what it was for. We had taken her to Ulta, as I didn't really know of someone to do it off hand, and Ulta should know what they are doing, right? We explained what we wanted, and the stylist let us know that it would probably be a long process because my daughter has very dark hair. That was fine. I left her there. She called not long after to tell me that the stylist told her she couldn't do what my daughter wanted in one visit after all. She wanted to start and then have my daughter come back for another visit later. This didn't sound right to me, but I agreed. What my daughter ended up with- after wanting all over blue hair- was green highlights in her hair. They weren't very well done, and my husband, who picked her up, was charged double the amount that we were told it would be. My daughter was devastated- to say the least. We started looking for a competent stylist who came recommended and could get her hair the way she wanted it. Caleb at Twisted Lemon was highly recommended, so we went to see him. He took time to look at what my daughter's hair looked like. He told us exactly what he would do to fix it. He gave us a quote for the price. And then we made an appointment. My daughter had her visit to Caleb this week. And we are thoroughly impressed. He took so much time with her- much more than he had expected , once he actually began to work. He discovered that the Ulta stylist had done some crazy things that really messed up the color of her hair, things he couldn't believe a professional stylist would do. He spent all afternoon and then had my daughter come back after her night class at Winthrop to finish up. Her hair looks beautiful! Even after all that time, he charged us what he said he would. He is extremely talented and professional. He put my daughter at ease and did an amazing job. We can highly recommend him!

I feel like it is always hard to look for a new stylist because it can be hard to know where to start. Sometimes referrals from friends are great, but because the Charlotte area is large, the last thing I want is a commute for getting my hair done, that process always takes enough time! I went back to yelp again, and found Southern Roots. While they only had a few reviews, they were all great. I called in and Tiffany actually answered, but had to book me with Donna because of the day I was requesting. She was very kind in trying to set this up for me. When I went to Donna the first time, I asked for my usual cut, a little off the bottom and plenty off the layers, as I love to see my layers. I also asked for my hair color to pop. Unfortunately this is where things went wrong. Everyone can interpret their definitions differently, and my thought of pop was different than Donna's. That is my fault for not going further into likes/dislikes. My hair is naturally brown and she added in blonde highlights that were way too bright and blonde for me. I hated how I looked and hated the contrast. While I did receive compliments on my new look, I did not like the shade of blonde in my hair. However, I loved the cut. I finally received a cut that I had been asking for! As I stated before, I love to see my layers, so I always ask for much shorter layers, and for some reason, other hair stylists only seem to go about an inch above my longer length even though I always ask for much more. Since I got the cut and realized my communication was poor on my likes/dislikes and what I wanted out of color, I decided to go back. At the second appointment, I told Donna I hated the color from the first visit. She was very kind in taking my hatred and even suggested I should have come back, but I really just wanted to try to get used to it, maybe I would eventually like it. I found pictures off the internet of colors that I liked and had them saved for this second visit. I showed Donna a couple, and she picked right up on the colors! She added in some red to my brown while darkening up the blonde from the last visit. My color was spot on! And to me, adding in the red and darker blonde, was my pop. It looked great, along with the cut! I just went back this weekend for a third visit. I confirmed my love for the looks from the second visit and we updated the red and brown this time. After we finished with the cut/color, I pointed out what I loved so that she could make notes on what to do and how to update the different colors for next time. My hair is naturally curly, but I probably style my hair curly half the week and half the week I style it straight. I love that Donna is willing to take the time to style it straight so that I can see the layers and see the cut, that way I can ask for a little bit more if needed. I am happy to say and excited to say, I have found my new stylist! I think it is great someone is willing to listen to my critiques and wants me to be happy. While I can't say anything about Tiffany here, I can say Donna is great and I would recommend her easily!

What I have now is a deep dark strange head that even my young children still can't figure out. My eye brow pencil is too light for my new Tiffany given color. I was needlessly elated to find such a price but the reason is because you are not getting a real hydrafacial. First off, this is patented technology and Serenity has a knock off machine Aqua Touch or something to that extent. This is a clear violation to state you offer a trademarked and patented technology but yet their spa is not authorized for such or even owns one. By the time I was situated and she's about to start the so called Hydrafacial, I was extremely disappointed when I glanced over my shoulder to see some knock off machine that was not clearly the authentic Hydrafacial machine that is patented. I didn't want to make a fuss about it or dispute it so I continued with my facial and paid for such but this experience deserves to be a review to let others know what they are truly getting. This was my first time here as I stated and it was a very beautiful and calming environment but I specially went there to get a Hydrafacial and they don't offer such. My skin looked nice but not nearly the same result as with the real machine. Please change your website to truly reflect the name of something else but you can not state you offer something when that name is trademarked and you don't own the actual patented technology. I highly recommend Jim to anyone who wants top-notch care and beautifully polished toes, and did I mention he also does manicures.
