I went to Platinum for the first time a few weeks ago, as my stylist (from my other reviews!) has recently joined their staff. Samantha is wonderful, you read about her in my previous hair review. She listens to you, and will do exactly as you want - with insight and recommendations if you want them. Because I am a very low maintenance hair doer, but very frequent visitor to Pinterest, I wanted those chunky big highlights. I told Samantha what I wanted, and that I had been on Pinterest, and we talked about what would really work for me and my lifestyle. Turns out, chunky pretty highlights take lots of upkeep and work - more than 2 hair visits a year (imagine that!). So we went with lower tones and less upkeep. The girl knows me better than I know myself! Love the cut, I go in to see her about twice a year - not the recommended every six weeks. But I tell Samantha what I'm thinking, we talk about it and then I'm always happy with the result!! The shop is really pretty. The staff is nice, and it smells good in there! Never go to a hair salon that doesn't smell good. I will definitely be coming back here to talk about my hair with Samantha. She was also helpful in talking me through a few hair styles that I could do quickly, but that look more grown-up than just a hair elastic and a pony tail. Schedule an appointment! Ask for my girl!

$398 for highlights and root smudge??…read more Very disappointed in the amount I was charged today for highlights and root smudge and feel it was quite exorbitant for this area and what I received was not at all at any level to justify. My appointment was for full highlights and root smudge. I consider this salon nice but not high end and though the person who did my service is very sweet and did a great job the previous time I visited, they are more junior level. When I asked for the breakdown of my charges, they had a hard time providing them but said I was charged for a haircut, highlights, toner and root color. I did not get a haircut so I said oh, I didn't get a haircut so you need to take that off so they said they would refund $30 which is odd because a haircut is $60. After asked for a call from the manager who wasn't available while I was there, I found that they charged foil highlights ($265), a toner ($45) and $76 for a little root cover at the bowl. I have barely shoulder length hair. The manager wasn't clear on what was charged either so she was going to give me a call back but never did. My total bill with the refund was $365. What's worse is that I have to have it redone. The highlights were not allowed to lift enough and the toner was nothing like what i like or looks good on me. The roots are not dark enough and turned out looking like 'hot roots', nothing like the root smudge I had previously. I hate this happened. This is simply unaffordable even if it were a great color but it was nothing like what I had done before, which I what i asked for when I sat down. Also, I would have probably split up the service or possibly changed to partial highlight had I known the toner wasn't included with the highlight service. After all, you generally don't have one without the other. And, I would've decided to go elsewhere altogether if I had known they charge $76 for root coverage at the bowl with your highlight.

Summer was on time for my daughter's appointment, she took her time and made my daughter feel comfortable and most importantly my daughter loved her haircut!!! I made an appointment with Karlee and crossed my fingers. I had pretty dark hair and wanted to go blonde. We knew it would take a couple sessions because it's almost impossible to go from cheap black dye to blonde in a single session. I ended up leaving my first appointment with a beautiful copper color and fell in love with it. I just stuck with it! Karlee is super nice and honestly a saint for putting up with me lol. I hope neither of us ever move because my hair is the best it's ever been and it looks gorgeous thanks to her! The salon itself is gorgeous and welcoming. The huge windows bring in a lot of light so when the weather is nice you really get to see how good your hair turned out. Also I know I'm not the only person that has left a hair appointment with a sore neck because the wash bowls have no support so let me just say their wash bowls are the most comfortable I've ever sat at. Usually when I get my brows done, it's a quick and dirty waxing at a random place like "Star Nails" but this was fantastic. For just $11 plus tip (only $1 more than most places charge) I got my best brow wax ever. She followed my instructions to "clean them up but not make them thin" perfectly. They use a cream-based wax instead of a honey-based one so it doesn't pull off unnecessary skin and barely hurts at all. They also did a great job trimming them shorter, which is an art that few have mastered. To top it all off, they had fresh cookies all around and offered both my boyfriend and myself water or coffee even though they knew they weren't going to make big bucks off of us. (He just sat in the nice waiting area.) This place is tucked away in an awkward corner surrounded by medical and real estate offices, but it is worth the search. This time, I decided to try a salon closer to home, hoping that if I liked the results, it would become my new regular salon. To avoid any miscommunication, I showed the stylist a reference photo and asked for a haircut similar to it. Unfortunately, the final result looked nothing like the picture. When I pointed out that the haircut was very different from what I had requested, the stylist told me it was because I have a wider face and a shorter neck. While I understand that every haircut should be adapted to a person's features, this explanation didn't justify how different the result was. Looking in the mirror, I was heartbroken. The hair was cut shorter than I wanted, the shape was uneven, and it looked poorly executed. I had already decided I would need to find another salon to try to fix it. The owner later stepped in and did her best to reshape the haircut. I truly appreciate her effort, and the final result was an improvement. However, there was only so much she could do after the hair had already been cut, and it still not looked like the style I had asked for. I still left a 20% tip because everyone was polite and treated me kindly. But not for the quality of the haircut.
