Sometimes it's a real challenge to find a place to get a good pedicure. You want the place to be clean, have a nice and professional staff and when you walk out you want to feel like you got good value and service. I found all of that at this place. You can make an appointment but it's essentially walk-in, first come, first serve. There must have been a half dozen ladies and a gentleman that were on staff. It was 4p on a Thursday and I got there 15 minutes before my 4p appointment. They never checked the book or ask for my name so having an appointment doesn't make any difference. Lee was very nice and professional. An older lady with a good sense of humor. She really laughed at me laughing as she scrubbed the bottom of may feet, she said "everybody laughs at that part". I was happy to pay $32 bucks for the basic pedicure. You get the cut, the clip, and all the feel & smell good solutions and then the abrasive scrub on your foot bottoms and then...a nice calf massage for happy ending. I will certainly be going back, but I won't be making an appointment next time if I'm going during the week. The place is clean, but I had several disappointing things happen while we were there. First, I called ahead of time to make an appointment since I had my elderly grandmother with me and didn't want to wait for too long. We booked one for 11, showed up a few minutes early and were seated quickly for manicures. My grandmother was getting her powder dip nails removed with regular polish applied and I was having just regular polish applied, no manicure. We were not seated next to one another despite being the only ones at the tables. In addition, people kept pouring in without appointment (walks in welcome) and they kept saying yes despite not having the staff to support. They tried to remove someone else's nails while attending to my grandmother and it just took away from the experience. I was done quickly and happy with what I got. My grandmother, however, has a hard time hearing and has had a stroke. She accidentally messed up a nail moving her hair out of her face and a staff member fussed at her and never fixed the nail. Very disappointing. Lastly, the tech walked away from my grandmother while we were both sitting there and just... never came back. We waited for 15 minutes before I finally asked why we were waiting and they replied "oh, you're done." I then waited at the cash register for another several minutes before anyone bothered to help me pay for my service. Tl;dr Good: nails looked good, quick service, would probably be good to get there early when it's empty Not good: not patient with elderly, takes people when they don't have the staff to support, didn't let us know when we were done, wait to pay was puzzling to say the least read more

It was very calm and clean inside, everyone was very friendly.. they have many colors to choose from and it is very reasonably priced.. I will be coming back! This was so relaxing! I went there for a fill in and they soaked me nails so long they dried back on! I complained and all they could say was sorry. I asked if the girl went on vacation and they just laughed! I was in the chair for over an hour soaking! Then when they finally took it off they said I need a new set. Of course it was gonna cost more. I would not recommend this place. I went in for a gel polish change this week and had a very good experience. The gentleman who did my nails was detailed oriented and did a very nice job. He put a lot of attention in when shaping and filing my nails which I appreciated. His tools came out of a sealed, sanitized bag and his station was very clean and organized. I don't normally write reviews but was recently made aware of such a dishonest review by Missy D and just thought I'd chime in to defend the staff at Five Star. My family (including my husband) and girl friends have been coming there for some time and we have nothing but great experience every time. I recognize the lady that post that negative review. I was there that day as well and in my opinion the staff was nothing but friendly and professional to her. I understand we all have a busy schedule and all don't like long wait but sometimes the service provider is just too busy and I wish we all could be a bit understanding. I have had to wait for some time at my doctor and dentist offices as well. That said, the staff members were very apologetic and managed to always have a smile on their faces despite some very unfriendly attitude from certain inpatient & impolite customer. The staff even went the extra mile by offering her free services for that day for her wait, believe it was multiple services that would have been at least $60-$70. Not sure what more you could ask for from a customer service standpoint! read more

This is the place to go if you like Great customer service! I'm extremely particular about how my nails look and Sam has taken care of me every step of the way. We've had an issue where my nails came out the wrong color. Sam told me to come back the next day and redid the full set at mo costs. Then three of my nails chipped within the first week. Sam said come back and I'll fix it. My nails are naturally oily, so it's been hard to find a product that works well for me, but the SNS nail treatment has done wonders for my nails! Sam is gentle and doesn't do any unnecessary filing or drilling on my nails. He is the most professional nail tech I've ever had and I've been getting my nails done for over 10years. ive gone here since they opened and its gone downhill. Tonight ws the final straw. the "manicure" consisted of barely pushing my cuticles (which the owner responded to my complaint by saying she didnt want to hurt me) ran the nail file over my nails ONE time each , never buffed my nails at all. I chose no polish. owner came back at me and said normal manicure takes 15 min and he watched the tape and mine took 8 but most of that time was rubbing lotion in my arms. I complained at check out that i was unhappy but no offer of discount or another manicure. nothing just took my money and let me walk out. Ill never go back. Owner just wants to argue and justify but clearly im unhappy and paid for subpar service. too many other places to waste time here. read more

I went to 5 Star Nails for the first time today. I went in without an appointment. I picked out my polish and they took me back to a chair I soaked my feet for 30 minutes and they started on my feet. I have very sensitive feet because of my disability but the lady was gentle and patient with me. The owner, Sam, even redid my big toe because the next toe smudged the polish. Everyone was friendly and the atmosphere pleasant. My only advice is to get an appointment before you walk in. It was a weekday at noon and they were busy. I went in for a mani/pedi a week ago and am very disappointed in the results. My nails were filed with "edges" along the sides and many have broken already. I paid extra for a French gel and the the tips are uneven, and quite frankly look like they were done by a student. My pedi polish is already chipping. All this AND a Covid surcharge. I had two gift cards and a frequent buyers card that was supposed to award me $10 off. They accepted none of them. I hadn't been there over the pandemic and went today to use them. I understand that the frequent buyers card and one of the gift cards that stated a 1 year expired date may not be accepted but thought they may have a good business practice and accept it anyway since we had a pandemic recently... but that was a no go and I was totally understanding of that. What was NOT acceptable was that they wouldn't accept the gift card that was not expired. He was getting angry and bothered by me simply wanting to use a VALID GC. He said there had been a change in ownership and the money was gone so I couldn't use it. I said that's not my problem. So then he offered using less than half the amount or nothing at all. I am still shaking because I am so upset. I visited the salon today for an Express Pedicure and Classic Manicure combo for 40.00. I have a job interview tomorrow morning and felt it necessary to spend the money to create a professional first impression. All was going well until I asked the nail tech if she could change my toenail polish. I realized the color was not quite right after it had been applied. I have never done that before but I knew the request was reasonable felt it was ok to ask. Immediately, the nail tech's attitude changed. She showed obvious displeasure as she removed the polish-it took about one minute to do the task. Then she gave me HALF A MANICURE-meaning she SKIPPED SEVERAL STEPS while she made impatient sounds and shook her head. All she did was clip my cuticles and put on the base coat to start applying the polish. I was alarmed. I firmly asked her if she intended to push my cuticles back and buff my nails during the manicure. She just shrugged and motioned to my base coat wet nails-implying that the base coat was already on and-no she was not going to give me a real manicure. Then, she applied the polish-no top coat-and while my nails were wet-decided to half heartedly massage some lotion near my wrists and front of arms. She could not get near my hands at all with the lotion because my nails were already wet. Basically, it looks like I did my nails at home. There are already a few chips. My cuticles need to be pushed back and my nails need buffing. My hands were not lotioned properly and my skin looks as dry as before I came in. I believe her attitude changed abruptly after I asked her if she could remove the polish that I felt wasn't right for my job interview. It was an innocent enough request. Some colors show up differently on the nails after applied. I also sensed she felt it was not necessary to give me a proper manicure because my nails are currently short -as if to say "You don't take care of your nails anyway so I won't either". Its is true that I have been biting my nails recently due to life's pressures. But I have had many manicures in the past and know the typical set of steps involved. Came in and asked how long to wait for a pedicure. The gentleman (seemed to be in charge) said about 10 min. About 5 min later, they sat us in pedicure chairs, filled the water and left us there FOR AN HOUR! We kept asking how much longer and the response was "10 more minutes". I decided to try the new salon near my home. I had my nails done less than a week ago. They looked okay, though one was slanted from the way it was filed. That same nail broke off days later. Yesterday I went in to have it repaired. They had me wait for the one person who can do gel nails, though they had several people there. I was fine with that and visited with someone I knew who was waiting for her daughter. When I sat down, he wanted to do a fill in. I explained I didn't need one, since he had just done my nails a few days prior. I showed him the broken nail. While using his electric file, he burned my nail. After he put on the nail, I asked to see it before he began to be sure it was on straight, but I was nice about it. He then starts the procedure. When he gets to filing again (gel nails) he is going so fast with the emory board that he keeps hitting my skin on the side of the nail. I pulled back each time, as it really hurt. I asked him to please slow down. No one was waiting for services and he acted like he was in such a hurry. This was at 6 PM and they close at 7 pm. He did it again, this time taking skin with it, and I accidentally swore, I couldn't help it, it really hurt! He then kept filing on the sides making it really narrow. I asked him to stop filing the edges and that the nail was too long. It didn't match the length of my other nails at all. More than 1/4 " longer! He kept filing the sides! I pulled my hand back and showed him the two fingers from each hand to show him the difference in the length. He was so angry that he shot his chair back and said the following "You are mean, you don't look me in eye, you mean, I won't finish your nail" I was quite taken aback. I said "so you won't finish my nail?" He said "no". I asked for someone else to finish it if he wouldn't. He said "I only one who do gel nails, you out of luck!" I was never mean, I was never rude. I was trying to explain to him gently that the nail was too long as he thought he was done and was going to start the painting of the nail but he was first angry I was in there for a repair, and then because I wouldn't pay for a Fill In, which I didn't need and then because he kept hurting me and I asked him to slow down. I left with my nail not finished. After posting on my Facebook page my experience with this new salon near our neighborhood, others have come forward saying they had similar experiences and would never return either. When he originally did my nails, I asked how business was doing and he said they didn't have many customers. He said "maybe 20 a day" I think I understand all too well why. I haven't been back in town until recently. Looks like the salon has changed ownership and it is for the better, IMPO. All of their staff members are still there plus a couple of new faces. I had better experience during my most recent visits than I did in the past, not saying that my past experience was bad, it was good too. The salon seems very busy in the evening and weekends. went there again for my fill in ans color change. normally its $25 but this time they tried to charge more. before she even told me the price she ran my card. i noticed that it said more than usual so i declined to sign it. told the nail tech the price was wrong and refused to sign.THE 'OWNER' called another nail tech over who said it was $15 more. i kindly disagreed and asked them to show me what the additional fee was for and where it was on the price menu. THEY COULD NOT SHOW ME, instead made up something and became very hateful and angry. long story short, they ran my card and voided the transaction and then ran it five more times causing my card to decline. they made seem like it was problem. i pulled my bank acct and showed them the pending transactions from their business. they said that they will have to run it again on monday(wrote down my card number). I told them to not run my card and proceeded to call my bank. this place is horrible! they will not last long if they continue to be this way. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO ANYONE!!!! they are very unprofessional and inconsistent with their service and pricing. read more
