They have a cheap salon in the back, and their towels and gowns are smelly. I am wondering if they did some something about it for hygiene. Towels were smelling mildewy, and of course they are also cheap ones! Also, they told me that they had a plumbing problem, and the floor became nasty one time over the summer. Thus, based on this, I am not confident that I would go back and or suggest this salon to others. read more

I have used the salon services several times at the Ulta in Roanoke, VA and I have always been satisfied. Today, Laken Edwards cut my hair again. As always, she did a fabulous job. I will definitely continue to come see Laken! read more

The manager was the one who was rude to me and speaking about me. She's going to read it and write it off. And I'm sure the next time I come in there it will be the same thing. Maybe she was having a bad day but the way she treated me I felt absolutely belittled and treated like I was going to take it. She wouldn't even let me try to match it to my hair. So when she reads this I truly hope that she can maybe be nicer to the customers. She didn't think she was rude in anyway and I think that speaks to her character. There's a reason this store has the rating it has. read more

I've always had a good experience in the Ulta store as a shopper but today was the first time I tried the brow bar. I was very nervous as I've never had my eyebrows waxed for fear of having them done too thin. I made an appointment online with Courtney B for a wax. We were able to get started right on time and she was very kind and listened to my concerns about my brows being to thin. I was very pleased with the outcome and I will be back! read more

This is absolutely insane, 1 cashier and all the other employees are laughing and talking.. Back- up never came! This place is always unorganized and horrible customer service. read more

Well...I order some products online and received my order. Two days later, I received another duplicate order, which I didn't order. I called Ulta immediately for return instructions. I was told to take it back to my local store. I am disabled and no longer drive. I told them that. I asked for a free return label and for them to have ups to pick it up. Ulta did not! Another call. I was then told to keep the package and I would not be charged. I was. Then, I wrote them about the matter. I was told that I could no longer charge online b/c I used multiple names and was reselling their products. What? What a way to run a business. I buy products only for my personal use and only use my name. I would give a zero star if I could. read more

Ulta Beauty - you can SEE the pink stains. i'm LIVID - Cosmetics & Beauty Supply Near Me - Roanoke, Virginia

All I can say is mehhh. The last 2 times I have gone into this store there is NO ONE to be found to offer help. None in site. I had come in there within a week after my last visit hoping surely by then they would have had the Too Faced product back in stock....nope still nothing. Not only this the way I was treated when I came into the store was almost like walking past high school girls gossiping in school. I made a comment to my friend and one of the employees working on a NYX display mocked me. The only assistance that I received was from a salon associate. Unacceptable, staff unprofessional. Will I return? Sephora will be my first stop, or I'll order from Ulta online. Definitely won't be back in store. read more

As far as the shopping is concerned, staff is super nice and helpful. Some of their recommendations are hit or miss, but it's expected. As far as the salon - I've had a few salon visits there and overall they were okay, but a little expensive for what they were. The hair dye and toner washes out pretty quickly or just starts to look sad really fast. The haircuts and styles I normally requested were pretty basic....nothing hard, so I was happy. But the last time I visited, I wanted a totally different haircut that made me look younger and I got the complete opposite. When she was done, I couldn't get out of the salon fast enough to go cry in my car. I cried and wore a hat for about a week before I found another Salon to fix my hair. My hair was a little past my shoulders and after the haircut I was left with a homely, tired bowl haircut that made me look 10 years older. After a few days of hats, tears, and angry outbursts- I called the salon; the manager was very nice, understanding, and accommodating- he refunded my money right away. I have thick, frizzy hair and I know it can be challenging to cut. I was upset that my haircut came out bad, but I was utterly more upset because I wish the stylist could have communicated with me more, I wish she didn't turn me around to cut my hair, and I wish she would have been forth right if she was not comfortable with cutting my type of hair. read more

I've never had a bad experience at a Brow Bar anywhere in this country until I walked into Ulta in Roanoke Virginia. At all costs, AVOID getting your eyebrows waxed by Courtney. She will butcher them and not even ask you if you're okay with the work she's done or how she can fix them. Bad customer service. Choose any other brow studio in the city for your own good. Rest in peace. read more

I have been trying their phone for over 3 weeks, want an eyebrow appointment with Courtney. The automated system puts you on hold, to schedule an appointment, then flips you back to the general announcement. How does one get an appointment? Do they not realize their phone isn't working right? read more

I came to this Ulta with high expectations for what the stylists could do. I had been once before to the one at home (In Virginia Beach) and had an excellent experience there, which is why I drove all the way to Roanoke from Blacksburg for this haircut. When I got there for my appointment, my stylist was working on another person. It was clear that she wouldn't be done anytime soon; she glanced up at me briefly and when I said I had an appointment, she asked me to come back in about 45 minutes. I walked around the mall and came back when she asked me to. I ended up waiting over an hour for her to finish with the girl she had been working on when I first arrived. At this point, I was a little miffed. I requested a discount because I'd waited so long for my appointment, and the manager, Cecil, graciously obliged. If he hadn't given me the discount, I would have immediately walked out and gotten my hair cut somewhere else. I wish he hadn't given me the discount. By the end of the appointment, I had cried twice about how bad my hair looked. Although my stylist, Jasmine, did a good job with the color and with most of my haircut, she completely botched my bangs, cutting them about an inch and a half shorter than I wanted them (I wanted Zooey Deschanel bangs and ended up with Betty Page bangs). The bangs were also very uneven, but there was no real way to fix them because they were already so ridiculously short. She called over the other stylist to help her, but even she could only soften the damage done to my hair by the original stylist. This was also four hours after my appointment was supposed to start, which is an absurd amount of time for a Cut & Color for a bob. Final verdict? No discount given to me by the salon could have made this haircut worth it. And Jasmine, if you're reading this, please err on the side of caution the next time you're cutting someone's bangs. If someone's hair isn't short enough, that's easy enough to fix, but there's no immediate way to make a client's hair longer if you cut off too much. read more

Monte at the salon is a AMAZING!! I'm biracial and have very curly textured hair and he did wonders. Got me in and out super fast and is just a lovely person and makes you feel super comfortable. I'll be seeing him every month now so he can do my hair!! read more

I brought a picture of exactly what I wanted to this salon: a few more layers, eyebrow-length bangs, and beachy waves. I got ringlet curls, no bangs at all, and the rest of my hair was trimmed less than an inch in a few places. I wish I hadn't paid for a cut and style, but I was in such disbelief that I thought maybe I didn't look closely enough. Nope, now I'm out $32 and a small handful of my hair! read more

Ulta has the best staff especially Sarah at The Benefit Bar!!!! I only had one problem in all my many years of shopping here 2 to 3 times a week. That was a one off with a then cosmetologist that was extremely rude and condescending to me over the phone. Everyone at the Ulta at Valley View with this exception has been kind and helpful. I can not say enough good about everyone at Ulta and with their high quality products. read more

Great customer service and always super friendly and Helpful. The salon is amazing as well. The whole store is like one big family and they all get along well and treat their customers just the same, almost feel spoiled in there read more

I went to this store to use my Ulta gift card that I had been given for my birthday. I got this one pallet for 15 usd and i didn't like it. One the price was too expensive for the quality of the pallet and it came with a sponge brush, I tried to use it and it was ok but then again I got it from Ulta and I expect to get better quality things! I got a different pallet from Walmart a few weeks earlier for the same price and it was way better! The formula the quality everything! And it actually came with a decent brush! Other than that it's a pretty good store. read more

I have VERY pale skin, with freckles, and I came to ulta after work to get color matched for a foundation. Now, I was ready to spend some big ass bucks on GOOD foundation. I asked an employee to color match me, he looked annoyed as hell, went straight to TART, and nothing else.... Took a color, rubbed it on my chin and said "I can't see it. If you can't see it, it a good sign.".... And then walked the fuck away!! ARE. YOU KIDDING. ME. RIGHT. NOW?!??? No. That was absolute bullshit. Sad part was, I had major money I was about to drop at Ulta tonight. I wasn't JUST getting foundation. So my daughter and I left he store without purchasing a damn thing. Sephora got my business. Sorry. read more

Tyshaun saved my hair! I came in for a color correction days after another salon absolutely destroyed my hair and he was so incredibly helpful. Ugh. Will I ever find A good blowout in Roanoke? This was the second place I've tried. I made an appointment and arrived early but the stylist was running about 12 minutes late. What was supposed to take in 30 minutes took her an hour. And I paid $27 plus tip for a really not great blowout. I would pay double that for a really really good blowout. And to add insult to injury the girl didn't mind insulting my hair as part of her sales tactic to sell me all of the products in their store. I really did not appreciate that part as I did not come to get sold on their products, I came for a blowout. If the products were so amazing and I was impressed I would've asked about them. read more

Highly recommend Jasmine at the Ulta hair salon. She did a great job on my 13 year old daughter's hair. She got some pink in it and Jasmine made it look really pretty. And also got the price down for us. Thanks again Jazmine!! read more

This is the worst customer service experience ever. I used to buy all my makeup products from here but will never buy from this company again. I was charged for 9 items from the store two days ago for $130. When I got home only 8 of them were in my bag. I went to the store to complain and they said it would take 30 minutes to check and get me a new product. They were so rude and unwilling to fix there mistake. Worst Ulta in the area. Do not go to this store. read more
