I am not a makeup person, I try but yeah it just really isn't my thing. When it came down to figuring out what to do for my wedding makeup, my little sister and friend recommended Ulta. I did a test run at a different location in Sherman Oaks for my bachelorette party and liked the results. We booked our appointments and hoped for the best on the big day. Alyssa did my makeup and I felt for her. I walked in and told her I wanted to be as natural as possible...lol. She asked me to explain what I meant by natural and I just told her I do not normally wear loads of makeup and I wanted to look like me on my big day. She ensured me that she would do her best. I thought the end results were amazing. My green eyes normally pop but the addition of the purple and eyelashes really made them sparkle! I had to drive 25 miles back to their store because they made a mistake. They offered NOTHING to make up for their mistake and the hassle it created. Poor customer service. I placed a pick up order for this location as a Valentine's Day gift to my husband it was a cologne I didn't have the time to go and pick up that day so I went the next day to pick up my order and I was told that someone picked up my order and was told they had all the information they needed to pick it up they then came back with a picture of some random man showing he picked up the order they went on accusing me of trying to steal from them I have never been more embarrassed in my life after a lot of "talking" they gave me the cologne so they wouldn't look bad I guess I was not going to be left paying for something I never picked up and they probably mistakenly gave it to someone else. I went to Ulta to go buy foundation with no makeup so I can find a perfect shade since my skin got a little darker. Almost all the employees looked at me when I walked in and just turned away. No one asked if I needed help nor approached me. But best believe one was following me as if I was stealing! I asked one employee for help and she said she's not working in the specific area I was in, which was the prestige brands, that she would find someone to help me. No one came! With no one coming I got the wrong shade. The next day I went to return the shade and they asked what was the reason for the return so I let her know "I'm returning it due to it not being my shade because when I came in to buy it, no one helped me" and she looked at me rude when I was just being honest. She also slammed the pen down for me to sign the return receipt. This is a HUGE difference because last time I went on my lunch, with a full face of makeup, they greeted me, helped me, and everything. I got the total opposite from this visit. My goodness. Get better employees or having training on how to assist customers and not be so judge mental. Sephora employees don't judge one bit if you're wearing makeup or not. read more

I was looking all over for a liquid eyeliner and couldn't find it. It was annoying because in Sephora, they have them all over. I eventually asked someone to help me out. She was kind enough to go all over searching, she found two, both waterproof, so I declined. She then asked if I was ok with going to the other side, with me not knowing other side meant cheap brands, I said yes. I ended up getting a Nyx, because I felt bad, since she tried her best. Having worked in cosmetics for several years, I love all things "Beauty." This is a nice ULTA that offers some great products and good customer service. I really have no complaints. They have plenty of testers to try fragrances, cosmetics, skincare and the newest "item" from all of the lines available. My only gripe is they don't offer testers for the Maybelline-type drugstore brands. And although no store usually does, I always wonder, "Why not?" That would be helpful to have testers for those products since we still need to try to match our skin tone. FYI: They also don't offer samples to take home since you have free range of the make-up tester bars throughout the entire store. I guess I can understand that, but it still sucks. Overall, this is a pretty nice location and I really do enjoy the "self-serve" aspect of ULTA Beauty stores since I can usually figure it out myself. I've spent way too much money at ulta in general and 90% in this store location. And even with over indulging on self care items, every time I'm here I get stalked like I'm going to steal. Idk if it's because I have a bunch of tattoos but come on this industry of beauty almost everyone is tatted. Any ways I spent $600 the prior week of my horrible experience with my ulta card and came in again the following week with non stop following me around the store. Let me add on I stopped bringing my purse in so they would leave me alone and that definitely didn't work. So as I'm leaving with a armload of items cause of course you'll only buy what you can carry. And the manager with no personality asked if I need a cart, of course I decline and cracked a joke about and she just stood there until I walked away. Then when checking out the girl at the register was speaking to her manager on their walkies while putting all my items on the ground. I worked in retail and that's an obvious you're checking to see if I stashed items with in things. I didn't. Then I ask to use my points and money rewards and the register girl looks all shifty and asks for my id while the manager comes up. I spent $200 this time. I've never been asked for my id unless I didn't have my card present and I've had it for a year. Completely disgusted on the way the treat their customers, i let them know that I was never coming back in and customer service on the app also never gets back to you. Sadly this review is going to be an echo of every other complaint on here. The lack of customer service. Now I went to the store one early afternoon on a Friday. There were quite a few customers and what appeared to be a generous amount of workers. Now here's my issue, I was standing at the Chanel area, clearly looking at products then looking around for staff. I found two chatting super close by and they completely ignored me. At one point, one girl walked away to stock or do something. The male proceeded to not look in my direction and applied makeup to his own face and looked into the mirror multiple times. Look, I get it. You love makeup as much as I do and you can put it on for free but I'm the customer and your priority is not your own face. Anyways, i had to ask him for help and his customer service was satisfactory. I stood in line to purchase my product for soooo long. I didn't understand why it was taking forever because there were four staff behind the counter. Well let me tell you what really irritated me. Only two staff were behind the registers checking out customers. Another was holding bags like they were going to replenish them but wasn't actually doing anything. Another girl was stocking or moving products. Seriously!?!? There was a huge line and that was what you felt was a priority. Besides the lack of customer service, I appreciate the variety of products in store as they are more supplied than my local one in Goleta. I made a last minute appointment for makeup application on Saturday 12/3 at 1 pm. I got there early, around 12:30ish and got right in. From the get go, Alyssa was professional and courteous. I went in not feeling very merry and left ready to spread some Christmas cheer. Thank you Alyssa! Also, special shout out to Alyssa's work husband, I feel terrible that I don't remember his name (Jeff? Nick?)but he had blue hair and was super entertaining! He also helped run and grab products for Alyssa. Also, when the Collection lost power for about 5 minutes, I had a harem of employees surround me with their flashlights from their phones. Overall, super fun time and excellent results. I told Alyssa I didn't know what I was wearing, it was either going to be black, navy blue or burgundy and I would like holiday makeup. This is literally all I have her for direction. Pretty non descriptive. In hindsight, I was a total nightmare client. However, Alyssa took her time, explained her vision and gave me a beautiful result. I loved the look and so did everyone I came across. Alyssa- You were right. I got a ton of compliments. Thank you! I am not happy with the ULTA CREDIT Rewards card I hot from this branch. I agreed to sign up for their CREDIT CARD that I was told I can cancel at anytime. I purchased $17 for that credit card. I was not informed of the $40 late fees. I was trying to cancel the card but it took me a while to get connected. Until I was told that I have to pay $120++ because of late fees . I didn't get the statement and don't even have the physical card with me. The name of the bank is COMENITY CAPITAL BANK. Be careful with this company. Be careful with the ULTA CREDIT CARD that they offer because late charges are unforgiving and they are hard to reach to cancel the card or negotiate transaction. Customer Service of Ulta are understanding and felt my frustrations but the Vultures of the collection office NO. Just be careful. I felt like I was scammed and misinformed and I have to Pay 8x more of the amount I actually bought. read more

The staff was amazing at this location. Super nice and friendly. VERY helpful. The only negative thing was the security guard followed my daughter and I around like we were trying to steal something. Checking our basket every time he passed us.It made us very uncomfortable. We had planned to go for weeks! The guard followed us around so much that my 11 year old noticed. We felt targeted. Girl, I dread coming here! when possible I try to go to the Camarillo location, but this store I just cannot with the attitude that you get. I walk in apparently five minutes before they closed. I had no idea that's fine. I knew what I wanted and I knew what I needed to do but instead of being offered assistance when I walked in the girl just said we close in five minutes and just let me wander. Personally when I worked retail and somebody came in last minute, I would offer to just help them find what they needed to find but that was not the case here. after I find the item I needed I get in line with my exchange and returns. of course the horrific what's your phone number is asked instead of hey, how are you but Ulta is pretty much known for this. They've literally gone viral for the terrible greeting of what's your phone number. The associate is not listening to me so she missed the whole part of me doing an even exchange and continued to ask me what I was doing three times and proceeded to assume that I was using my credit towards a new purchase. I had to literally ask her to do two separate transactions because she was not understanding. Following this transaction for the next transaction she asked me if the items were used I said yes I don't think she was expecting that because you could tell she had her speech ready. She then proceeded to ask me for the order number about three times again after I had shown it to her. I don't understand where her head was when she was processing the transaction. I also assume she was a supervisor keyholder of some sort because she was screaming across the store to all the employees to ask them to verify that there was nobody else in the store. When doing my first exchange, she loudly made it a point to say if I used any points, she couldn't do the exchange. I then told her I paid with my own money there were no points involved, which took me by surprised too, because I have no idea where that thought or assumption came from. If She looked at the receipt one of the three times she would've noticed that I paid with my card in full. Fortunately, some of us can afford a $40 lip gloss and don't need to substitute points to complete a purchase. The energy in the store is very negative which I'm sure is established by management but they definitely don't trust the customers they don't appreciate them and they're just another dollar sign to them. This review has been held back for a long time. Every time I go in here it's attitude from someone or lack of interest in helping you, but never had I had such a unique experience that I had to tell about. Like I said, proceed with caution, you will get nasty attitudes. I hope one day that the district manager sees this and tries to do something about this because all the other Ulta locations I go to are not like this it's just for whatever reason the girls at Oxnard are just on another level for no reason. Another thing to know they love to be so loud when there in a sense trying to call you out for something, but when you ask them a question, they literally do not respond. I wanna love Ulta because of all the deals, but this place is awful. I would give it 0 stars, but it deserves a star for the few and rare sweet and helpful girls. It's always under stocked, the lines are very long, most of the staff stands around and doesn't bother helping customers or their coworkers as the line stacks up. Products are always tampered with in some capacity. I wanted to buy a body butter and literally only 1 did not have fingers dipped into the 10 I checked. UNSANITARY! There are a couple of very nice girls, but most of the employees come off as lazy, hating their lives, unhelpful, and unfortunately incompetent. I asked a sales associate if she could check in the back for something since there weren't more on the shelves and she literally gave me a dirty look and said no, then walked off. Well okay then! I went here a few weeks ago with my dad, he waited outside while I shopped around. The employees didn't seem friendly and were almost annoyed to point me to a certain brand or answer my questions. If you are a teen like me, and are alone going here like with your friends I don't recommend going in. The past two times I've been in here have been bothersome. Maybe I'm just used to Sephora and the employees there that seem to actually try and help you. However- Three weeks ago, I was checking out with simple wax strips and overheard one of the ladies behind the counter say that her blush looks like rosacea and that it was ugly. Well. I suffer from rosacea and hearing that it's "ugly" wasn't a warm and fuzzy moment. Not cool, don't say that stuff in front of the public. Then today, I'm looking for their Algenist line. A lady asked me if I needed help and I said "Yeah, can you show me your Algenist area?" she looked at me like I grew three heads. I said it "Al-Jean-ist"... I normally buy it at Sephora and maybe I heard it said like that, maybe I haven't bothered to look into how to say it perfectly. Either way- she finally looked at me and said "Oh. You mean Al-JEN-ist." Had she said it as a simple "oh this is how you say it" with a smile, maybe it wouldn't have been so offensive. It came off beyond condescending and judgy. Every time I go into this Ulta I am met with the rudest workers. They don't like doing their job that they get payed for and could care less about the customers. I Went in a couple months back looking for a product that they said they had in stock and one of their managers seemed irritated I was asking for help even though the store seemed very empty, and she was very adamant that they definitely didn't have any in stock. I ended up getting help from one of their outsourced workers who was very kind, attentive, and helpful and found the product that the manager claimed wasn't in stock. On numerous other occasions the workers have ignored me, dismissed me, and they overall act very snotty towards so many of their customers. I'll have been either at Target or the movies and remember I need something quick and don't want to go back to Ventura. I was here recently because I wanted some Burt's Bees products. Took me quite a while to find an employee (as I couldn't find the products myself)...that's always a bad sign to me. I saw the ONE employee in the entire store and she was working the register. HOWEVER, I did see one other employee, an older woman (who I've seen in prior visits and I am relatively sure is the manager or key carrier) who was behind the counter for a moment and then she was gone. This "customer service" bothers me because by the time I got in line, we were 3 customers deep. I don't care if it was late, after 8:30 PM. If you have customers, who are PAYING YOUR BUSINESS money, then you should and could be a little more professional. I am not doing YOU a favor by patronizing your business. The last few times I've been in this store there has been a very obvious man practically following me around. He looks like security, but this last time he asked me if I needed help with anything, and then went back to stalking people. He makes me very uncomfortable when I'm trying to browse. This man alone is the reason I will stick to Camarillo or TO Ulta. When the store was located across the 101 in the Esplanade Shopping Center, I was more of a frequent shopper for all beauty needs- but ever since they moved to The Riverpark Collections shopping center I found myself limiting my visits for multiple reasons. 1) Parking is always a hassle at The Collections. 2) Traffic is always a hassle at The Collections. 3) Ulta's new location seems smaller compared to their old real estate. 4) Decent Customer Service, is rare to none. 5) Organization??! What's that- this location, forget it. What a mess. *****6) This place never has anything in stock! I came in last night because I received an email that my face wash and lotions were part of a GREAT sale which was one day only. My Murad face wash which is normally $36 was 50%, this usually never happens. I was hoping to come in and buy 2, sadly when I arrived to the shelf- there was only the sample bottle present. No workers were to be found on the floor so I went up to the register. The Ulta associate went on to tell me that they are out of stock and have been out of stock for these items? Not okay- basically she said I was SOL on the deal. (I should have known 'cuz this alwayyyyys happens.) But that's not all, I also wanted to buy my Body Shop lotion 'cuz it was running an awesome deal. Buy 2 get 1 free; when she rang up my lotion- she was unable to sell it to me because it was the "tester"? I proceeded to tell her that there isn't a sticker that says that so I should be able to purchase it... But no, & they were out of stock in the back. At this point I was completely over it and said screw it to the rest of the items I was going to purchase. Moral of this story- purchase my items online especially if the total qualifies you for free shipping. Buying toiletries and beauty products online is different than clothing so you can trust what you buy online to work for you. As far as this Ulta location, workers are snotty, they most likely won't have the item you want in stock and it's an unorganized-$#\t $how. Good luck. read more

I have read a lot of negative reviews and I have to say that the few times that I have been in this store, I have had great customer service and the store was clean and well stocked. We had several employees willing to help us and when the check out line got a little long, they called in extra checkers to help. We have always had a great experience when visiting this location. They sell high end hair and makeup products which can be pricey as well as more affordable hair and makeup lines. They have so many brands to choose from. They also have a large hair care and accessory aisle as well as a large makeup brush and accessory aisle. You can find almost anything you need here. Here is my one complaint: The samples are gross. People come in and make a mess or destroy the sample area. These really need to be cleaned up and taken better care of. 41/100 read more

There has been a few exceptions when I've been approached and asked if I need any help. Other than that, the staff is mostly concerned with chatting amongs each other and looking at their faces in the mirror. Yesterday, I went in to purchase some foundation. I was approached by a lady who informed me that she would call someone to match my shade. The other staff came quickly, however, the look of disgust on her face was obvious. She was rude and personally dry. Look, I get it, sometimes working with people is frustrating. Yet, I was not rude at any point (despite the fact that she was). It almost seems like if you don't looked glammed up like they do, you get treated like an annoyance.
