I am 66 years old and have had "interesting" eyebrows for as long as I can remember. This was my second visit to Holly Dowd, the Arch Expert at the Benefit Brow Bar, for tinting and waxing, and I could not be more pleased. Holly is skilled, meticulous, and truly understands how to shape brows in a way that complements your face. For the first time in decades, my eyebrows look natural, defined, and genuinely flattering. After the wax, when my brows were already looking perfect, Holly went a step further and helped me find a concealer and foundation that make an enormous difference--natural, yet more vibrant and polished. A colleague of hers even weighed in on color matching. They were a young person with a fabulous look all in black, cool silver jewelry, and unmistakable kindness in their eyes. The whole experience felt collaborative and attentive. It is definitely more expensive than the threading I've had in Philadelphia, and I may try to stretch out the time between visits, but it is absolutely worth it. Ulta - please review basic customer service with your front facing staff. I have been coming here since opened in the Commons. I have had great experiences until this year. Walked out ripped off (overcharged) and in a bad mood for the rude and condescending summer staff this year. They are not knowledgable about your products, your current discounts, and the demographic who comes into your store. I spent $300+ and the whole experience I felt like I was inconveniencing people for existing in the store. I dealt with three associates while there - one seemed to be from corporate and very nice (as is usually the case at this location - great senior staff....). The other two were young, bored, and seemed to want to be anywhere but at work. And they let me know that with their attitude. When I brought up a current sale on a hair line being held at the store, the girl looked at me like I was bothering her, told me that there was none and told me certain color stickers are full price - so I said just ring it up. Sure enough I was overcharged $68. This is not the first time this has happened this summer. Probably the last. I'll stick to sephora delivery rather than getting ripped off by rude kids with no respect. Train your staff. read more

Had an awesome experience with Jillian at Ulta's hair salon. She is really nice and listened to what I was looking for! I got the signature cut which included a nice wash, deep conditioning treatment, long layer cut and trim, curtain bangs, and a beautiful blow dry. It was the best Ulta to go to. More upscale. Genuinely knowledgeable and the stylists were great. Not anymore. Now you can barely find any anyone to help. The manager was dressed like a slob. They hire stylists right out of school and are clearly inexperienced yet they charge top of the like prices for their services. I left in tears after a $200 service. My hair looked better when I walked in the place! The manager told me to let my hair grow out and then I could go back and get it cut by a "master stylist" for free. My favorite location! I split time between Washington State, Arizona, and Connecticut. After going to many locations, this is my absolute favorite. There is plenty of help, but they don't bombard you with annoying "Do you need help yet?" questions. This store is clean, well stocked, seems well staffed. I enjoy going here every time. I normally do not leave reviews. I deal with good service or poor myself, at the business or directly via the phone. I am in fact writing this on behalf of my wife. Earlier today, my wife decided she needed to get her hair colored and wanted to have someone do it for her (first time she hasn't done it herself.) After a quick google and yelp search and review check she decided on your establishment. She left here happy and content. Which is why I was confused and worried when she got home and was near tears. In a nutshell the person doing the coloring job not only did a bad coloring job, but spent the entire visit disparaging my wife's hair, her looks, and in general making my wife, in her words, "feel ugly." Whether or not the individual who was doing my wife's job was having a bad day or generally didn't know what she was saying and the comments she was making were hurtful is irrelevant. My wife is not only the most important person in my world, she is also the center of my world. I don't care what someone thinks of me or her, truly. Neither one of us have ever tried to fit someone else's idea of what is proper or "beautiful." However I was also raised to believe that the rule of "If you have nothing nice to say, say nothing at all" is true. I find it a disgrace and outrageous that someone working in the beauty field would consciously or unconsciously make negative comments about someone else's looks. As I said, maybe this person was just having an off day. Maybe they were disgruntled at the company or were going through issues in their lives. I don't care. What I do care about is my wife and her happiness. To that end I assure you that I will do whatever I can and whatever I must to bring back her smile and good cheer. I simply wanted to leave this here and let you know that you have forever lost a customer and also made a lovely and amazing lady feel ugly. For that I can never forgive you or your company. Amanda is an excellent hair stylist who is professional and knows what she's doing. DO NOT go to Natasha for anything regarding your hair. I'm not sure if Ulta is desperate for hair stylists or if she just got her license but she messed up my highlights and it looked blotchy and striped and Amanda had to fix it. While Amanda was fixing it she had another customer for a haircut who looked liked she wanted to sprint out of the building the entire time Natasha was cutting her hair. I travel to this ulta because of how well of an experience I have every time I am here. The staff is very friendly and knowledgable of products. I have gone to ask some employees help with deciding/purchasing an item and they are always so helpful and such wonderful people. This ulta is the cleanest out of all the ones I've been to.
