I can't say enough about Suoer Cuts in Old Saybrook! several of the hair stylists give excellent haircuts.. They are far more professional then Guilford Supercuts..In Giulford they talk about their customers before they are even out the door, and brag about how the owner never checks on them, because they all work so hard! very arrogant.. Geri and Connie talk about their customers, which is hardly the thing to do in Saybrook, you are greeted very warm,y, soon as you walk in, and the salon is spotless.. Leica gave me an excellent haircut, as I only wanted a trim, and she did what I asked,,,the best ever, and my friend went to Paula and she gave him a great haircut.. I don't know about this place; I really wanted to like it but...the inconsonant haircuts they provide needs to be addressed. They are under pressure to get in as many customers as possible. I've been going to SuperCuts, in Old Saybrook, CT., for years. I've never had a bad haircut, or bad experienc, ever.....until today. The atmosphere was so jarring. Loud music was playing, and the stylist seemed to be under extreme pressure to do their work as fast as possible. It was like the boss/owner was timing them. asked for a 1/4 inch buzz cut. they gave me an inch buzz cut, completely uneven with hairs poking out past 1 inch everywhere. she went through my head with the hair trimmer a single time. im beyond disappointed. will not return. it seems noone on the shoreline knows how to do a simple buzz cut. this was for a job interview. Yes, if I could leave zero stars I would. My eighteen year old just came home with truly the WORST cut he has ever had. We made an appointment for Saturday, as he was having highlights done, as well. The highlights were equally awful! If you have absolutely no choice, and must go to the Old Saybrook Supercuts, DO NOT go to Meghan. Meghan is the worst hairdresser that we have ever had, and she is quite rude, as well. This is the first negative review that I have ever written, but the Supercuts/Meghan was so bad that I felt I had to write. Stylist didn't listen at all. Brought my son in there for a trim and she cut all of his hair off even though both he and I said only to the brow line. I didn't get her name but she was about 5 ft tall and of a Spanish descent, very soft spoken. I asked her what happened and she just said oh I'm sorry. My son was so so upset. I feel like a lot of the negative reviews on here are folks coming here and expecting a full salon experience for a fraction of the price. Supercuts is affordable, quick, and efficient. I came here on a whim after being tired of a grown out bob. I hate my hair being long enough to touch the back of my neck, and my usual place was booked out and busy. I walked in after work just hoping for a short, clean cut that fit what I had in mind. Walking in the salon was busy. There were two women working and they knew their stuff. They managed the line, and had their clients in and out. They were friendly, professional, and quick. I showed my stylist a couple reference photos for what I wanted, and she was on point. She knew exactly what I wanted and did a phenomenal job. Exactly what I would expect from a Supercuts. If I wanted all the frills I would go to a smaller salon. This place is great if you want to be in and out. $21 for a haircut is also a steal, and I wish people would realize that. Also if you are coming here and saving the money money, please TIP YOUR STYLIST WELL. They deserve it read more

I took my brother there for a hair cut and we waited quite awhile. Once sat the hairdresser began cutting not really listening. She wasn't really cutting anything off. I stopped in at the Old Saybrook location for a desperately needed haircut and this was the first time I went to another stylist in 20+ years. I met an excellent stylist named Sarah and she did a fantastic job. I'm the first person who will tell someone "so what if you don't like your haircut, it'll grow back", but I probably would also be freaked out and wear a ski hat in August if I didn't like my haircut too. I didn't have to wait more than 5 minutes and even though the cut took maybe 15 minutes, it was as quality and great as the cuts I've been getting from my usual stylist. Nice haircut, but they don't except coupons if you pull them up on your phone. Since I travel for work I have my hair cut all over the state and even though my coupon says it can only be redeemed at the Old Saybrook location - and I don't print it out - every Supercuts accepts it by just scanning the bar code. This is the second time I've had this issue here and each time I'm told it's the manager's policy. Well, it's safe to say I'll be taking my business elsewhere simply out of principle. read more

My son and family are regulars in another location and thought I'd give a try. On a Saturday afternoon didn't wait too long. The young lady who cut my hair asked what I wanted, good first step. Seemed thorough while cutting the back but once the front was addressed I became uncomfortable with her method. Very hurried while not sectioning as she did the back. I asked for my layers to be maintained as well. At the finish I expressed my concern that one side was longer than the other She offered to check it but didn't, only drying off the longer side saying it appeared that way because wet. Honestly is that too much to ask? It kinda looked ok but so not the case at home with closer look. Longer on one side and the layers ugh a choppy mess. Everything in front was obviously cut without thought. Honestly I felt intimidated by the situation and a girl half my age with no personality. Oh I did get a smile when I handed her the tip. I needed a last minute blowout on a Saturday afternoon. I called every salon in the area and of course they were all booked. I figured, how bad could it be, so I stopped into Supercuts. I was amazed at how awesome my hair came out. I wish I could remember my stylist name. She was great. She is a young blonde that has the first station behind the cash wrap. I love her!!!! I will never pay $50 for a lack luster blowout again. My hair is thin and full of cowlicks. She worked magic on me and it only took about 15 minutes. Give this place a chance. The lady who cut my excited (she gets her hair cut twice a year), happy, 8 year old daughters hair maybe said two words to us. Had a frown on her face the entire time. Very short with responses. Instead of getting a booster to prop my daughter up for the hair wash, she had me stand there and push the chair back the entire time, unable to wash the hair around her face. Surprise! Found myself wishing I had planned for a haircut weeks before I got to this stage. Walked into Supercuts & decided to take my turn. The Hairdresser, Carolyn, ( Caroline ? ) gave me the best haircut I had gotten in a long time. I have long hair. I had a wash, cut, blow dry. Unless you are male or a girl under the age of five....do not go here!!! It has nothing to do with the the their skills, because I didn't even get that far. I have curly hair, I needed a tiny trim in the back along my neckline, super easy. I would do it myself except I can't reach that one spot. The two stylists there both looked at my name on the list, made eye contact with me, and then purposely called the next person. When it happened the first time, I thought maybe the woman didn't think she could handle my curly hair, but then the second stylist did the same thing. When I asked (after waing 45 minutes) they said "Oh sorry, we skipped you." But no effort to resolve the problem. So I went somewhere else. Got a walk-in immediate appointment, paid $10 more than I would have at Saybrook Cost Cutter, but got not only that one spot trimmed, but also got an amazing haircut with outstanding customer service!!! I went into th new super cuts in old saybrook, no one ever acknowledge me and the owner was very rude he had a chip on his shoulder serious attitude problem. He told me the last customer was at 3:45, the time was 3:48pm. So apparently I missed the cut off by 3 min. There was no sign saying this and the door says they close at 4. As someone who pays taxes in old saybrook I was extremely pissed off. He's new to MY community, you don't treat people that way, especially as a new business owner. A family member that had received two excellent haircuts from the same hairdresser at Supercuts recommended I try them. I asked for some long layers and to have 3/4 inch cut off. She had me tip my head down and she cut through the thickness of my entire hair. That left it looking very jagged. She then started on the long layers. I had big chucks chopped out over my entire head. Some areas were very noticeable. One over one ear and one side of the back of my head. She talked like she knew what she was doing and I didn't notice until I got home and looked closer in the mirror. It took her about 7 minutes to do this damage. It will take many months for it to grow out. The family member feels so bad and agrees it is terrible. She is afraid to go back. I will not go back. read more

Just had the WORST service at this salon. My 5 year old daughter came in with long snarled hair. I apologized to the stylist and said I would be willing to pay more if necessary, and planned to give her an extra tip. The manager, very rudely announced across the entire salon, after my daughter was shampooed and in the chair that I would have to pay an extra $20. The stylist then felt pressured to rush, however remained very kind. Our timed appointment lasted 26 total minutes. I complained to the manager for the more than 100% upcharge, especially since there was no one waiting. I also asked how long it normally take (15 mins according to stylist), the manger snapped at me that she does haircuts in 6 minutes. GIVE ME A BREAK!!! I have never seen a 6 minute haircut on a child with long hair, and I never would expect to. Out the door $48 later!!!! This was my first and last time at the salon. read more
