A lot of these reviews are people complaining about not being talked to or approached. I love coming here because I am left alone. I am usually greeted, and if I am in a isle and an associate is too, they say hi and ask if I need help. If I need help I have to ask someone. My kind of shopping is the shopping where I am left alone until I choose to talk to you. Nothing is more annoying than people following me around suggesting things to me. But to each their own I guess. When I do ask for help, it's always super nice and professional and knowledgeable girls helping me. I don't know what these other women are talking about. If you want someone to hound you and tell you exactly how to wear your makeup go to your mothers house. read more

This is an ok Ulta location although not my favorite in greater Cincy. I dont know if its the times that I come but it is always super busy with not a lot of staffing, and they are ALWAYS out of things I came to buy. Several times they have given me a bigger size for the price of the small size to make up for their lack of inventory which is nice. I think its just a busy location that cant keep up with the demand. read more

Extremely disappointed. I came here during their grand opening weekend to see what they have. I was immediately greeted by a pleasant and friendly woman. But unfortunately that's where my happy and pleasant experience ended. After asking one of the employees if they carried a certain item, I was met with a rude attitude. It was as if she was put off by my question. Bad day for her maybe? Does it matter when customer service is your business? It matters to me. This was my first visit and it will be my last. Yeah so this place is practically in my back yard, I have no problems driving out of my way to Sephora, where I know I will find what I'm looking for and have a great customer service experience. read more

You know I have a real love/hate relationship with this location of Ulta. The love is just what I love about Ulta in general. It's a great store for cosmetics and beauty products. They have such a great selection and I love that. Also, what Iove about Ulta is that they allow you coupons and you get to use your points from your rewards cards. They also have a lot of great sales all of the time. So, as much as I love Sephora you get to save money at Ulta for getting pretty much the same things. Now the hate part of the relationship comes with the people they hire at this location. They are usually teenage girls or women in their early twenties who don't know anything about anything in the store or cosmetics in general. I went to cosmetology school and while I don't feel like I know everything about everything, I do feel like I know more than every person who works here put together. I think I've had one good experience here as far as customer service goes and I go in here every other week. The good experience was with a woman who helped me pick out my foundation from Urban Decay. I actually felt like she knew what she was doing. Every other girl who works here is ALWAYS rude, not helpful and unless you come up and ask them a question they act like you are not even in the store. It's pretty terrible. But this is the closest Ulta or Sephora to me so I keep going to it. Driving five minutes to Newport or twenty minutes to Kenwood is the deal breaker. I love Ulta, I hate the service here at this location though. read more

I have been coming here for quite a while, since it's the only Ulta near me, and it's not like there are many of them in Cincy area anyways. While in general the store is OK, it is not the nicest Ulta I know and it is somewhat quiet, which is both good and bad, depending how you look at it. My biggest complaint is that they are not stocked well and many things I come for are not there. For this reason, I switched to buying things online much more often, as they have a lot of freebies and gifts with purchase on-line that are not offered in store. They often change the layout on this store and where things are at, but it is not intuitive, so I need to spend a lot of time searching for what I need or finding someone to help me. At times, the shop seems very messy and untidy. On my last visit the loud buzzing alarm was on all the time in the perfume section in the middle of the store, which will prevent me from coming for a while. I also wanted to get a Living Proof dry shampoo and found that majority of the bottles were missing the caps. I was told that they are lost in cardboxes, but some of the bottles were clearly used, with white residue around the neck. While it might not be their fault that people come and use something, why would I buy a $24 shampoo that is missing the cap and shows signs of usage. I think this location should get it together and try a bit harder. read more

I'm so upset I could scream!! I've been going to the brow bar for 1.5 years. I've had really good experiences until today! Today, Emma decided she would free hand my brows and not use Benefit's brow mapping technique. I should have just gotten out of the chair when I realized what she was doing. Now my brows are skinnier than ever. If you want to free hand brows... please go open your own shop! Loyal Benefit Brow bar customers go there for a reason. This place is brand new....so the staff has not been there that long....why such the long mean faces when I entered? I mean the places was dead and I couldn't find anyone to help me. Which stinks, because I really needed a ton of new products that I wanted to try. So I left, and to Sephora in Crestview Hills. I was greeted upon entering, and $200 later left with everything I needed. Ulta needs to step up their game. This place is just like shopping at the cosmetics section at Target. I will never return to get my hair done here ever again. I came in a few weeks ago and showed them a picture of what I had wanted,she put semi permanent color in my hair without telling me, and it completely washed out. I went in to fix it and they were very unapologetic. She redid my hair and basically just took me back to my natural color. She immediately rescheduled me for another redo. I came back and again they weren't very kind or apologetic for the 7 hours I had to spend redoing it. The final service was a bit better, however it was not close to the color I had requested in the picture. read more

Clean, well organized, with friendly, helpful staff! I've never had a negative experience, and the women working are always very helping. If you ask a question about a product they aren't familiar with they'll direct you to someone who is familiar with it. They're always great about recommending products in a non pushy way and informing me of any sales I might be interested in but missed. The staff is always great about knowing when to hover and when to just let me browse. I've never used the salon, but I've seen lots of people leave there smiling. read more

I had an appointment today for a facial with Kelly. I had gotten my eyebrows waxed on Monday with her and scheduled the appointment then I asked for anytime during the week, but Kelly works only Monday and Friday. I explained that I had to come in between meetings at work so I would need to fit within that time frame and we agreed on a time that worked best for her. On Thursday Diana, the spa manager, called me and asked if I wanted to move the appointment to Thursday since Kelly had picked up shifts on Thursday night. I was not available to change the appointment and confirmed my original appointment and time. Today, I got to the appointment 5 minutes early and checked in with Diana, and she said she would let Kelly know. I waited for 15 min (so 10 after my scheduled time) and asked Diane how much longer the wait would be since I was in a time crunch. Turns out, Kelly wasn't even there. So I told Diane that it wasn't okay that I had been waiting and Diane started talking about how Kelly was in a car accident right after a different worker said that she had just gotten a hold of Kelly and she thought she was not working today. I found the entire experience to be incredible unprofessional. There is no reason that my appointment came as a surprise. Kelly made the appointment earlier this week and Diane confirmed it just the day before. I suggested they offer some kind of service recovery to make up for the time I wasted but Diane, despite being the manager, said she couldn't do that. Ultimately the Clinique sales representative gave me some sample products. If I could give less than one star I would. This situation has been my worst interaction with any service company. read more

You can't make this dumpster fire up: I was a customer at the salon in Newport KY for years. The lady who styled my cuts and highlights also happened to be the manager. She was the only good stylist there. There were 2 occasions where she had called in sick and I had to use another stylist. Both times, the haircuts were so bad that people were kind of shocked, and asked "What did you do to your hair??" I kept going bc the manager stylist was an exception, really good, but she eventually left the company and no longer works as a stylist. Here's where it gets so wrong: I reluctantly went to another stylist there, a "Master Stylist" at that....we would talk about the color I wanted, in great detail, and then after I was all done she would say, "I made it a little brighter/darker bc I just thought I would do something different." Every time. Every 3 months. For a year. But the last time I went to her was the deal breaker: right before a big vacation. It seemed the foils were on longer than usual. The lighting in that salon is not good, and I didn't notice it until afterwards at the Mall shopping: My bangs and crown looked like a rat's nest. So damaged and frizzy. And no surprise, the color was not the regular summer blonde we discussed. It was platinum senior white. Ulta was then closed, so I ran into the salon at the Mall. The lady there was nice and empathetic but very taken aback. She did a conditioner with a low light color, but said it was beyond repair, I would have to wait for the regrowth, but the conditioner might help. I used the conditioner all vacation but still, the top of my head was a rat's nest and I couldn't use any vacation photos except from a distance. Immediately looked up a different salon and one year later, am very happy to be done with Ulta. Took this long for damage to get trimmed out/grow out. Moral of the story: Do not use Makenzie at Newport Ulta. Just do yourself a favor and do not use Newport Ulta Salon at all. read more

If I could give the Newport Pavilion store no stars I would. I was waiting in line to be checked out when the cashier took a customer that had came in while I was standing in line waiting to get checked out. When I told the cashier I was next she was rude and answered in a nasty rude tone sorry all the while looking at the other customer who I believe must have either been a family member or a friend and proceeded to laugh. I recently moved and wanted to find someplace close and convenient. I had my hair highlighted. The styling area was freezing cold. The local store apparently doesn't have control over the thermostat. My stylist couldn't feel her fingers. Maybe that's why my highlights start 1/2 from my scalp leaving an obvious ring around my head when my hair is pulled up. I paid $120 and it looks terrible. I went here today because this is one of the few locations with a benefit brow bar. I was in a rush and did not notice how many little hairs were missed. With waxing being the fun experience it is, I don't think I'll be running back in tomorrow. A sore upper lip for two straight days is not what I want! I doubt I'll go back to location. I came to Ulta for a brow wax after work. The associates were busy helping other customers, so I went to the brow bar and saw the sign that said to go to the salon to book an appointment. I waited at the salon for five minutes but clearly no one was working there. So I went to stand in line at the front to ask if I can could a wax. After 10 minutes of the associates hopping around the store to different customers, I finally left. I'm not an impatient person, and I felt like I wasn't even acknowledged. read more

Do not use salon unless you have been before and have a regular stylist. I made an appointment for an all over color $60. I left with a $232 bill for services I did not realize was needed. I agreed to a conditioning since she added highlights and then had to tone it down causing damaged hair. After washing, my strains were fried like elastic string breaking off. When I called to discuss my overcharged damaged hair to the salon manager, she could not adjust my charged amount only a complimentary conditioning that they already did that obviously did not work. I purchased, from another retailer, $70 worth of product just to make my hair manageable. They did not seem concerned and showed no empathy to my situation. WARNING: DO NOT USE THE SALON! read more

I like Ulta in general and shop there often. The Newport store however, consistently frustrates me because I always have to remind them if there is a gift with purchase, and it seems that they never have the gift with purchase that is advertised. The sales associates will often offer a substitute but I am usually purchasing my products because I want the gift I saw advertised. Before this location opened, I shopped at the Kenwood location and I never had this problem. The sales associates always automatically placed the gift in my bag and it was always the advertised gift. I don't know if the Newport store doesn't order enough of the gifts or if they are just unorganized and can't find them. read more

This location has the worst customer service I've ever seen at an Ulta location. It's been my experience shopping at other Ulta locations, store representative greet customers upon arrival and ask whether they need help finding anything. At this location not a single store representative greeted me or asked if I needed assistance after 10 minutes in the store. When I asked for assistance the store clerks response was "everything we have is out" When I asked if there was anyone available to help locate a product the Ulta employee said "sure" walked to the back of the store and failed to send any type of assistance. The employees at the Covington location are extremely rude and unhelpful. I highly recommend avoiding this location at all costs. Worth traveling the extra miles to shop at the location at Rookwood. read more
