She helped me pick out an entire makeup routine, color matched me, and labeled all the products in order of application -- all while juggling helping other customers! I was so happy to encounter her again at Ulta where she helped me pick out a cleansing conditioner which, sure enough, is amazing. All her product recommendations are always on point. She is so kind, empathetic, and understanding and it's clear she genuinely cares about ensuring you're getting the products that match your individual needs. Made a hair and makeup appt for my daughter 5 weeks before the prom. We came in from out of town (2.5 hour drive) and were told the hairstylist had to leave early. They asked if we wanted to come back another day. They did call another salon nearby to find a last minute appt for her, but there was no apology, no discount, no empathy at all. Here we are waiting to get her hair done somewhere else and she has to be back at our hotel and ready to go in 30 minutes. Will that happen? Most definitely not. Worst blowout ever. I seriously do it better on my own, but I threw out my shoulder and figured I'd pay someone to do it for me. The girl doing the blowout had no idea what she was doing. She left my hair sopping wet after the wash, and then I had to suggest products to use because she wasn't sure! It was a total waste of money because my hair wasn't dry all the way in the back and I ended up having to dry it more when I got home. read more

I visited Ulta as part of their grand opening this past weekend (the previous weekend, on Mother's Day, was their soft launch). As I entered the store, I was warmly greeted by a number of employees. One reason I was very excited about coming here is because like Sephora, they carry a lot of premium cosmetic product and fragrances that I like. But where they have an edge over Sephora is the following: 1. Better deals (thanks to coupons, lots of promotions, more freebies and a better rewards program) 2. They have a salon in the store 3. More hair care & nail product selections 4. In addition to premium cosmetic brands, they also carry drug-store brands providing one-stop shopping The store is quite large which can appear a bit daunting at first but the layout is very straightforward and when paired with helpful employees on the floor, I was able to find my way around the store quite easily. When you first walk in, in front of your to your left are the premier cosmetic brands (Benefit, Lorac, Bare Escentuals, Urban Decay, Laura Gellar, Smashbox, Tarte, etc.), to the right center are fragrances with nail care behind that (including Essie and OPI!), and on the far right of those are drug-store brand cosmetic brands (Revlon, Cover Girl, L'Oreal, Burt's Bees, etc.). The cash registers are conveniently located near the entrance/exit in the front (ahead of the fragrances). Behind the fragrances and drugstore brands are hair care products including shampoos, conditioners, hair color and other products. You can also find hair styling tools here too. The salon and mini-spa area are located in the rear of the store (behind the premier cosmetics). I thought about doing a service with Dermalogica, a brand they carry which I love, but opted for a hair appointment instead. I was nervous about getting my hair done as I've been seeing the same hair stylist in NYC (where I used to live) for the past 7 years so I was putting a lot of faith in my stylist. She did NOT disappoint! I am happy to have walked away with a fantastic cut, color & highlights for a VERY affordable price ($90 in total since it was a grand opening promotion). Overall, the store seemed very well stocked and organized for this opening weekend and I look forward to shopping here more in the future! read more

This is the Ulta store I visit on a regular basis. I've always had great experiences with the Ulta staff. They're friendly and helpful. The product selection is great, I always find what I need. I also signed up for email coupons and those benefits are unbeatable! It's worth it - i use an alternate email that all the coupons go to so it doesn't clog up my personal email. Salon: I've never had a good experience. Every stylist I've liked has left, and do not see a novice stylist. You get what you pay for! I'm scheduling a gloss with one of their senior stylists/managers for a final attempt- definitely not a cut. But I don't have high hopes! Look up their stylists on Instagram and Facebook before deciding to make an appointment. Brow bar: Melissa, Melissa, Melissa! I could say it 100 times over. This girl works miracles. I've been seeing her for two years- admittedly, I've seen other places between visits here and I always go back because she fixes what everyone else ruined and she is amazing. I'm always pleased with her work. I get them waxed and tinted. I've visited 5 Benefit Brow bars around the country and Melissa is second only to one in Denver, CO. (Boston, MA., Denver, CO., Manchester, NH., Richmond, VA., Portsmouth, NH.) Dermalogica Facial Bar: Amazing! I went here on a coupon. She customizes everything to your skin type and has great advice. I have never used demalogica a products and my skin didn't react at all - and it's very acne-prone and sensitive! It was a great experience. read more

First off I have never had good luck finding a hair place, I am not picky, I have a super simple hair style and dye black. Not tough. I went to the salon in the Ulta on a whim last month I had visited last year and had a disappointing experience but gave it another shot(again simple hair). Things went fine so I scheduled a follow up appointment. I took time off of work went in right on time today and was told I didn't have an appointment. I thought maybe I had the day wrong but then the woman at the kiosk said oh I don't know it looks like it was cancelled. I hadn't communicated with the salon to verify I still had an appointment since I had received a card with the appointment. So I took time off of work, came all the way down here and was told how about tomorrow? read more

Great selection of products but I can't stand the customer service. Every time I go they want me to sign up for their card and rewards points and their tactics are so tacky. I've actually had a woman ask for my name and email after I said no to signing up and when I asked why she was asking for my information she said for "rewards points" and I said no politely again. She continued to tell me everything about rewards program and I had to interrupt her and tell her I'm not interested. It makes me want to not go there knowing that each time I go they try and talk me into this program. read more

Very friendly however worst blowout I have ever received. Booked a blowout for a wedding I was in. During the wash, my roots were hardly touched. I asked for high amounts of volume and large curls and was assured it would come together at the end....it did not. She blew me out with a round brush but blew it out straight. She did a terrible job on the roots, they looked greasier and more stuck to my head then they were coming in. She proceeded to curl my hair, without it being fully dry, so my curls came out "wormy" looking. She finished it off with a spritz of root pump and said it was good. It was not and I have my own root pump, the blowout volume was what I was paying for. The only saving grace was when another stylist threw in a quick headband braid so it didn't look totally undone. Would have re-washed it and done it over myself but didn't have the time. Scared to see wedding photos. The woman was friendly and kept good conversation but not what I was there for. Recommendation: I get blowouts monthly but am from out of state. Go to a salon that only or mostly does blowouts. If you're thinking of here, drive to Boston instead and go to a DryBar. Went in for the first time last month! I got my hair colored prior to vacation and couldn't have been more satisfied. Stylist listened to what color/highlights I was looking for and did an amazing job! She was very professional! All the staff, in the salon area, were extremely friendly!!! I have been coming to this location for many years. Unfortunately, things have gone downhill. Over the past month and a half, I have been to the store for two specific items several times. Each time, nothing I want is stocked. The same Physicians Formula section has been unstocked, disheveled, and covered in makeup dust. The bags to carry items aren't readily accessible either. They are stored near the checkout line. The bathroom is usually out of soap and the hand dryer doesn't work. Clearance does not have stickers, so I can't know the price and tend to avoid it all together because of the hassle. All in all, I am very disappointed and frustrated and will avoid this store. read more

I love Ulta. It is very convenient. All my beauty products in one place! The prices are certainly reasonable, and there are always plenty of employees to help you find what you are looking for. As far as the Eyebrow Bar goes, I LOVE it. Melissa does an excellent job. I don't trust many people with my eyebrows, intact; i only trust her! SALON: Do NOT see sharleen or cassie. They are very nice girls, but they have no business touching hair. My mother and I wasted 4 HOURS in there today only to end up with horribly colored hair and no cut or style. My mom wanted a touchup but to pull out lighter pieces to keep depth, but ended up with a blotchy full head of single process, (except where she missed), and a head still full of dye and shampoo. I wanted highlights, but they were left in for about an hour, (even though I kept asking them to check), so I ended up with WHITE streaks all over my head that required 2 rounds of toner to return more or less to a natural hue, (though looking at it now there are still several uneven splotches of light light blond throughout). The stylist acted like it was her plan to bleach the life out of my hair and then recolor it later, and insisted that it only came out light because my hair was dry, (it's not, and even if it were, she ought to have anticipated that and formulated her plan to counteract that problem rather than attempt to blame-shift). Shockingly, she tried to charge full price for both of us, (over $100 each), but luckily, the store manager, (not the salon), immediately recognized the severity do the situation, (maybe because he came over just as I pulled out a tangled clump of wet hair-yep, lost a lot of hair today), and he instructed her not to charge me for mine and to only charge for a portion of my mom's, though in hindsight I wish I'd insisted she not pay either, now that I see the mistakes on her finally dried hair. The store is great, but this is NOT a functioning salon. read more

I left with my length 4 inches shorter. Very disappointed with the attitude of the employees at this store. I used to be a frequent shopper here and still give them a lot of business but I am going to stop going to this location. I went in looking for a type of product for brows. The associate gave me an annoyed look and said she didn't know what I was looking for. (Looking for a marker type product, not that crazy.) Finally thinks of one but I ask for a cheaper alternative, she goes to a group of employees standing around in a circle and they all sound appalled/ disgusted in my choice of product. I am giving my money to you and you critique my choice of product? Not just that but right in front of my face as if I can't see. I wouldn't say any of their face makeup was stellar either... I went here to get a new foundation. I walked in and got help with matching a foundation which was great. The woman gave me the foundation and I bought it. I went home and looked at it and it was far from the shade she put on my face so I had to go back and return it. The woman helping me when I returned was kind of rude. She shade matched me again and then I went to do the return but she had taken the original foundation from me so the guy doing the check out called her over and she said "did you give it to me?" In a very sassy tone and then went to go look for it with my mom. She kept saying "I don't know where she put it" to my mom even though she had taken it from me. So overall customer service wasn't great and I probably won't go back for buying a foundation. read more

I like the store, the general manager Scott is so kind and helpful, I visit the store very often, I love cosmetics so I always spend so many hours seeing and trying new different things, unfortunately there is an angry/ sad or unsatisfied girl that most of the times doesn't give a good and proper customer service, Anahi has a bad and poor attitude with customers, it seems like she doesn't want to see any person in the cashier ...I hope you can remove her or replace her with a person who can deserve the opportunity to work there, it is not nice to deal with her, very uncomfortable. read more

As one of the reviewers said below Cassie may be a nice girl but I don't think she should be doing hair at Ulta. I had a lightyears better haircut done by someone at their Epping location. I went in and even though I had scheduled an appointment I was treated like a walk in that was rushed. She was coloring a friends hair and only had 30 mins before she had to wash our her color. She convinced me to not get my hair washed since it was still some what damp from being in a bun all day. Sure fine. She then wet down my hair and was very conservative with the cutting and didn't seem to be listening to me when she cut my bangs. She cut them much longer at first after I had just spend a solid minute showing and explaining where I wanted my bangs cut and how. It wasn't a horrible hair cut just not as much style as I would have liked It was extremely basic. Then when she styled and dried my hair she didn't put any product in and completely ignored styling my bangs. Whatever I just wanted to get out of there at this point. I stood up and walked back to her computer then she asked of $50 dollars sounded right for the total!!! What?!?! It says online that it's $37. Then I saw her computer screen. She was charging me a $13 dollar hair and bang trim on top of my hair cut?!?! I'm sorry but are my bangs not part of my hair and the hair cut was average at best not $37 dollars worth. She told me should would take it off like it was a favor to me. I'm sorry but she was trying to up charge me flat out. I should also add that she used to work at a different salon and completely BUTCHERED my boyfriends hair a few months earlier. When I walked in that day and saw it was here I said a prayer because I really didn't want to have a bad hair cut. I got a decent gift card to Ulta in my Christmas stocking and went to the Manchester mall store to use it. I didn't know that in the back of the store there are skin care services with an actual esthetician. It's kind of hidden. Anyway, I ended up getting a facial, which I loved. The esthetician was Amanda (I think they have others who work there (because their credentials are on the wall) but they must rotate shifts or something because there's only one skin care chair). Anyway, Amanda was really down to earth and didn't try to sell me a bunch of products I don't need, but gave me some helpful suggestions for my skin. My face felt fantastic after. I only wish the bright department store lights could be dimmed while I was relaxing. Anyway, I don't write a lot of reviews but think more people need to know about this! Went to get my eyebrows done and they literally waxed off my eyebrows into thin lines. Its terrifying and it took me so long to grow them out and not they look awful. Its so hard to even make them look better with makeup because of how thin they are. Also took the girl 35 minutes to do my eyebrows and she filled them in with a color that doesnt even remotely match my hair. read more

This is a mixed review because I had two different experiences in the same visit. I went in to look at a cosmetics brand and when I asked a sales associate for help, she was great. She admitted she wasn't very knowledgeable about the brand but gave me her point of view, answered as well as she could. When I asked about a mascara she was very helpful and I liked working with her. I was at the mall also to get a gel manicure and asked her if there was a place in the mall that she'd recommend. She then mentioned that they did them in their salon. I didn't know, until that time, that they had a full service salon. This is where the quality started to go downhill. I liked the nail tech that worked on me, she was lovely and very patient. However the time and quality of work was not what I'm used to and just 24 hours later, I'm sporting a manicure (really, it's not a manicure, it's a polish change) that looks like its grown out. She said she would not trim the cuticles, she said she wouldn't have the gel touch my skin since it would lift off. It is called a manicure and while I agree that it's probably not right to cut the cuticle, my nails look undone. She pushed the cuticles back and buffed, that was it. I wouldn't mind that as much except that the polish went on sloppy and the tips of the nails are already wearing off even though she painted polish on the tips. I havent done anything with my hands that should warrant this kind of wear in just one day. I really wanted to eventually move my business here but the quality just wasn't up to par. read more

The woman who did my hair was very sweet but did a horrible job with the blow-out. I got a treatment and blow dry and my hair came back feeling more overprocessed and dry than before. I don't think she was using the right instruments for my particular hair so it came back flat and frizzy. I could have done a much better job myself. and not spent the money.
