absolutely HORRIBLE I guess this is what I get for trying to book a massage in a strip mall. I give my credit card information online set up an appointment only to find out when I get there that they didn't even book the appointment! I reschedule for the following week mind you I have to take a day off of work just to do this because I live in New Hampshire and work in Massachusetts then they call me two days before my appointment telling me my massage therapist went on leave and they have to reschedule me not for the same time with a male when I wanted a female and couldn't even do the same date and time again mind you I have to take a day off work to do this so I haven't even had my massage yet and already had a terrible experience twice do not recommend them!! if you want a real massage go to a real spa. read more

Ok I saw the reviews and tried it out anyway. My massage started at 12:45 but ended right on time at 1:30. If you start late (not my fault I was waiting) then give the client what they pay for. Same exact thing happened for my facial. Supposed to be 60 minutes but was 45. I also love the girl who did my facial but I'm there to relax and she talked constantly. Very basic massage and facial. I've had much better. Facial products absolutely smelled horrible. I came home and washed my face. read more

Whatever you do, DO NOT sign up for a membership with this company. They cannot hold onto employees and will cancel appointments that have been made months in advance because they have such a high turnover of staff. When you start to accumulate credits, you cannot do anything about it because every time you make a new appointment, they're cancelled 70% of the time. Not a huge deal if you have a flexible schedule and can come in whenever but super frustrating for working families and or single parents. If you try to cancel your membership, they give you two months to use all your credits or you lose them. (Which again is ridiculous if they keep cancelling appointments). Also, when I called to cancel due to frustrations with trying to get in for a massage, the manager Samantha told me that I "didn't come for several months and that's why I had accrued credits so it was really my fault that I had so many credits to use. My husband had passed away and she had the gall to make a statement like that to a customer. Then she hung up on me. I will never use this company again. read more

Booked a same day appointment for some muscle tightness. When I arrived, I waited about 10 mins past my appointment time to be told I needed to fill out paperwork. Then I was taken to the room (so estimate 15 mins past the hour then still took a few mins to get undressed and on the table). At 36 mins past the hour the massage therapist was done and out of the room. So I paid $65 plus tip for a 18-19 massage that was supposed to be 30 mins. I will not be retuning as I feel I was absolutely short changed. However, Ginny was great! She very friendly, helpful, and used just the right amount of pressure! read more

This past weekend I had an appointment for a facial. While I was at work I received two voicemails asking if I could 1. move my appointment up and 2. call them back when I received their voicemail. I called them back and was told that my appointment at 2pm was missed and they asked if I would like to reschedule (my appointment was actually at 5pm). They moved my appointment without my knowledge and told me I missed it. I then hung up with them and went onto the app on my phone and screenshot my appointment time from 5-6pm and called them back. They then told me that they were trying to "let me know" that I could come in for 2pm (it was past that time) and said my appointment at 5pm was still on the schedule. Why would they call me at 2:10pm and tell me I missed my appointment and ask to reschedule if they were just trying to "let me know" they had a 2pm slot open. I still decided to go in for my 5pm appointment so I did not lose the $65 for the appointment. I really can't believe the company treated me like that especially after being a member for a year. It was not appreciated one bit and I went in to my appointment feeling uncomfortable and upset that I had to prove my original time for my appointment, it was almost like I had to fight for my appointment I made weeks ago. It is supposed to be a stress free environment and that day was not stress free to say the least. I also put in a request and completed the form to cancel my membership about three weeks ago so my membership does not renew and have not received a response. I emailed twice after sending in the form asking for an update and am receiving nothing back. This month has opened my eyes to this company and I am not impressed. read more

If I could give 0 stars I would. It has been so difficult to schedule appointments. I have had 8 appointments cancelled by massage envy since March. I was able to put my account on a freeze for 3 months, trying to use up the remaining hours I have left. In the last week I had both a massage (one that I transferred to my son in law), and facial cancelled. Now I imagine it will difficult to get the $10 transfer fee returned!! I have 3 1/2 hours left... hopefully I'll be able to use them so I can cancel the membership I emailed the manager, requesting to add another month to my freeze, without paying a fee, and she said no... it would be $20 a month. Referred to massage Envy from a chiropractor for a sports injury booked an appointment with massage therapist Shane. Drove over 45 minutes to set appointment. Melissa the receptionist had me for the SPECIAL NEW PATIENT pricing and I had to pay in advance. when you enter Massage Envy a person brings you in a room to fill out a form and tries to push the membership deal on you.... I clearly refused to join a membership before even getting a massage. The manager told me the only way I could have my new introductory special was only if I bought a package and did not allow me to get a massage. Then she refunded my credit card because I did not buy the package she offered. My next call was to my chiropractor.......hopefully they will learn from this. Do not trust these people it's all about the sales pitch....not the care of the patient. read more

I have had at least 8 appointments cancelled on me in about 18 months and that is with a 6 month hold on my membership to just not be charged for service they can't provide. I have asked for a manger to contact me multiple times and that never happens. And when you ask for the managers name and email they will not provide. They make it nearly impossible to cancel the membership and not lose money they have charged. This place is a scam. They take peoples money and never provide the service. warning - deal with all branches of Massage Envy at your own risk. I went to Methuen MA but it's the same crappy manager at several locations. customer service is horrible. I had a one year subscription for massages and paid a monthly fee that guaranteed me one 60 min massage per month and a discount fee for additional massages that month. I found a therapist there I liked and this review is not about him at all. the business model of this spa is awful. they gave me a brochure with rates when I signed up, and 4 months later started charging more for the additional sessions. Their desk staff are poorly trained and quit often, so there are no experienced administrative support staff, and the manager is singularly uncooperative and rude. I canceled my membership at the year mark as permitted, and they continued to charge me for 2 more months! they refused to honor the earlier quoted price, stating that they could change the prices at will without notice regardless of the figures in their brochure ' because no price freeze appears in the contract' just in the brochure, and would not refund the overcharges. I will never deal with them again regardless of liking the therapist. they have no respect for their 'members' read more

absolutely the worst customer service I have ever had. this place is a joke I signed up for couples massages which were cancelled 3 times and never able to be rebooked. Because they can't keep help. We had to come on separate days. I had an appointment scheduled for the 12 th of December which some how got deleted so I was rescheduled for the 22 nd. When I got there I was taken back to the room after I was undressed she asked what I was looking for and I said a deep tissue message and she said she has wrist problems and can only do medium message. Which is 100 percent not what I wanted and to top it all off she wore gloves the whole message. I have worked at a spa and have never seen anyone us gloves. It was not a pleasant and relaxing message. Weird to say at the least. I asked to cancel my member ship and they told me I would have to use the last one or lose my money. TL;DR - They double charged me and have not given me my money back yet and it has been 5 days... My wife and I were gifted some massage time at Massage Envy. This is a real treat for us as it is not something we normally do for ourselves. We both enjoyed our massages and felt like the masseuses were very professional and did good work. However, when we were leaving naturally we gave them gratuity. I charged it on one of my cards. We got a call about an hour later saying the charge didn't go through. I thought this was odd but no matter i gave them another card and they charged it. Naturally after the call i looked at my balance on my original card and not only was there plenty of money on the card but there was the charge as well! I checked the second card and sure enough both cards had been charged. I tend to give people the benefit of doubt so i assumed a mistake had been made. I called them back and said they had charged me twice. The receptionist said "oh the first charge did go through?" i said yes and i need you to refund the 2nd charge. She said she couldnt do it without her manager's authorization. I asked for the manager and was told that she would not be in till monday and that she would have the manager call us on monday. Monday came i got no phone call, so i called again, They said they were working on it and would call me back. They never call me back so i again called them and they told me the manager was not in and would be in on tuesday. Now i am frustrated. You cannot give your employees the ability to charge customers and not give them the ability to fix their mistakes. They said the manager would call us on tuesday to remedy this. Never got a call on Tuesday. I called them again and they said they had refunded me the money tuesday morning. They have not. I still have 2 charges on my cards and no refund. I am going to call them again and try to get this resolved but i may have to go back to the store in person to fix this. This is ridiculous. I would not recommend this place at all at least as far as their customer service is concerned. They are terrible! read more

I've been here a couple times before and honestly had really poor experiences. Someone gave me a gift card so I used it and of course had pre-judgements as well. Sarah, my therapist did me a solid foot massage. After the first floor and shin, I seriously thought that she did both! I definitely drifted which is so hard for me to do. The rest of the massage was decent, but in a picky person and very critical. That being said, with a few tweaks, it would've been perfect :) I don't like how I need to go over my consultation with anyone other than the person that's going to touch me. The "tranquility room" is lacking, but the people here tonight we're really quite friendly and I left feeling very nice! I wish they offered a little more value to either amenities or refreshments, considering if your not a member, but want to return, it would cost $80 for 50 minutes. All in all, there are better options for local spas, but this recent visit at envy has softened my opinion of them. read more

THE WORST!! If I could give negative stars, I would! I stupidly signed up for a membership after my first facial, which was decent. I thought it would be a good deal , and would be nice to have a relaxing facial once a month. First of all, they have messed up my appointment time EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. They text to confirm appointments and either the service confirmed is wrong (massage instead of facial) or the time is completely wrong. Last time they tried to say my appointment was for 4:15, when it was actually 5:30. I work until 5pm every day, so there is no way I would book 4:15, ever. Then they had an attitude, basically telling me that I messed up the time. Went home and found my appt. card stating, you guessed it 5:30. On top of this, when I signed up, they gave me some free upgrade coupons. I used one last time, and gave the gentleman up front my coupon when I checked out. Surprise surprise- they charged me for it anyway. It how now been OVER A WEEK of calling them for a refund and getting the runaround every time. "The manager" who is the only one who can apparently do this refund is always either out, or on break, or at lunch, or someone there is the manager, but not THE manager who can process this refund. I just called again and the woman basically accused me of lying about giving a coupon to them. I am sooo mad at myself for being locked into their services- they are the absolute worst. Only go here if you like being frustrated, making multiple fruitless calls, and having your money stolen from you. read more

I am a 75 year old retired women, my husband bought this gift certificate. It was not explained to him there was a time limit. The staff do not know how to handle customers. I had a gift card that would expire and we were on the road traveling, and could not use it. They would not honor it even for one day. It wasn't so much that they would not accept my card, but it was mostly the attitude of the staff, they refused to make any attempt to resolve this matter, and the manager would not make herself available to even speak about this. I have been going to the same girl for a massage for several years, but thought I would switch over to Massage Envy because it is a lot closer to where I live. I was just about to join the monthly membership. None of that seemed to matter to the staff who just seemed like they didn't care. I told her I was going to post a bad review, nothing seemed to matter. I also told her I guess you have enough business, you really don't care, and that was the extent of the conversation. I hope the owners read these reviews, because maybe they don't think they need business, but they lost a good customer, and possibly others who read this poor review. So, beware of using MASSAGE ENVY!!!!! Good customer relations is not part of their corporate identity! My massage therapist keeps my body functioning well. Without massage therapy I would require massive doses of pain medication. Massage therapy relieves pain, minimizes spasms, improves joint movement and flexibility. I do fine work with my hands. My therapist keeps the joints, knuckles and fingers limber. Thanks so much! I personally like the membership model. I like getting lower rates which provides me with more massage every month. I invest in my health as my job depends on it. I like the fact there are so many therapists. I'm sure you will find one that fit's your lifestyle and body. I also recommend the practice of ai chi for those of you that experience chronic pain. Called to make an appointment and was told we had to pay for another year after we cancelled the new renewal. We still had like 6 massages left and they would Not honor massages we ALREADY paid for and would not refund any $$. Poor business practice!!!! I second the "conveyor belt" feel to this place. I found them online offering an introductory $39 hour or $57 hour and a half massage. The only reason I went was my regular therapist, also in Manchester, was out of town for the week and my back was a mess. I did the 90 minutes and was told when I got there it would be 80 minutes, to allow me 5 minutes to undress and 5 minutes to "review" my massage with my therapist. A bit confused, but ok. Except that the massage didn't start until 20 minutes after it was supposed to,so my 90 minute massage was really 70 minutes. The therapist was good, that's the only reason I gave it 2 stars. The "review" I was confused about was the therapist trying to sell me Biofreeze and other oils and when I went to pay they were schilling their yearly plan to me like there was a guy with a gun under the desk they were sitting at and I had to refuse them 3 times. The therapist was good, but the whole corporate, money sucking thing will keep me away for sure, on top of being gypped 20 minutes because of their late start when I was there on time. This was a completely impersonal experience and I enjoy having a therapist who wants to help me rather than sell me products to get a commission. Try Absolute Relief on Elm St. instead,my regular place as they offer great deals and genuinely care about the clients they have. read more

SCAM ALERT: I moved out of the area in October. I told the ladies at the front desk that I was leaving, had to drive an hour to the closest Massage Envy and needed to close my account. They said they would have to get the manager to reverse the November charges as they had already gone through. They (said they) put a note on my account and it would be closed after that. They told me I would have 2 60-min massages on my acct which had to be used in the next 30 days. (I had not used my October massage yet.) They assured me it would be taken care of. Today I got a notice on my bank balance and when I checked my account, Massge Envy of Manchester had deducted ANOTHER month of membership fees! I called to explain what had happened, and the manager started asking if I had filled out a form. I told her no, no one told me I needed to. I'm now in MS, so there's no way I can come in and fill out a form. She stated they can't close the account without that form. I asked why the workers didn't mention it and told me everything was settled. "I have no idea," she replied. I told her since HER workers failed to notify me, she should rectify the situation. (Thinking anyone running a business would want to do the right thing.) But NO--instead she stated that it was in the contract I had signed. Well, shame on me for not reading it word for word when I was leaving, BUT if I were running a business, I would not want to take/keep money that my customers were not aware of! However, this woman refused to reverse the charges, quoting "per corporate." She said I could email the company to fill out the form and send proof that I lived more than 30 miles from any massage envy. Thanks so much. I don't think corporate would want to do business so underhandedly, so I WILL be contacting them. And I hope my membership fee was worth the many you will lose because I will make SURE to spread the word on how I was charged and treated by the manager when trying to correct the situation! When I called in December to see if they would honor them, I was asked if they were purple cards. I said yes and they said they were from home office and they could not honor them. There is no reminder that you have to cancel, they continue to charge you monthly and REFUSE to reimburse you the money that you paid them but didn't use. We have been members of the Manchester location for almost a year now, and have been blown away by the consistent friendliness, professionalism and experience of the staff. Each time we walk into the facility we are greeted by friendly staff whom now recognize us as regulars! My Fiance prefers to stick with one therapist, whereas I tend to take whoever is available. I have never been disappointed, which says a lot given I require deep tissue massages. We have referred our family members, whom are now members as well!
