Communication was poor, and when I did hear back, it was just excuses from Amanda instead of real updates. If you're someone who has to arrange childcare, this is especially frustrating. I ended up paying for extra hours I didn't need because of the delay. Most salons have strict cancellation policies for clients, but this salon seems fine canceling or pushing appointments less than an hour before. Overall, the scheduling needs serious improvement. I wouldn't recommend if you value your time.

Southern Roots had great reviews and they didn't disappoint. I had my hair colored by Amy and she was wonderful! She really knows her stuff and I felt really comfortable trusting her with my hair. I've been to many salons in the past where my hair did not come out the way I wanted (cut or colored). I was seriously SO surprised at the wonderful work Amy did. I have naturally black hair, and wanted to add a cool toned ashy blonde balayage. My hair turned out AMAZING. Went home and my husband was surprised, but absolutely loved it. Highly recommend!

I deserve to be refunded, period. - This was my first visit to Southern Roots, and while I had high hopes based on the stylist's reviews, my experience unfortunately didn't go as expected. When I left the appointment, my hair had been curled, which can easily mask issues with color or placement. It wasn't until I straightened it two days later that I saw the actual results, and it was clear that the outcome didn't match the inspo photos I shared or the conversation we had beforehand. I reached out right away with photos, and while the stylist responded kindly and offered to fix it, I ultimately decided I wasn't comfortable with another appointment. I was then told the salon doesn't offer refunds, and instead, the owner, who I did not book with would be the one to do the correction. As a first-time client, this doesn't sit well with me. I don't feel comfortable going back, and I don't believe I should have to. I am not asking for anything beyond a fair resolution, and a refund would allow me to go elsewhere and have the issue addressed by someone of my choosing. Out of respect, I won't name the stylist - I don't believe this policy is hers, and I know she's done great work for many others. But I do think the salon's refund policy and how this situation was handled deserve to be shared. I'm including photos (the inspo pictures and my result) so others can make their own judgment. I always prefer to handle these things privately, but I also believe in transparency, especially when your first experience as a client leaves you feeling dismissed.

She got me checked in and I waited three minutes for Alex. She cuts good hair! Bangs are banging and my hair feels great. During my cut, three other girls were taking down Christmas decorations and sweeping and mopping. Music is nice. Smiles all around, for the most part. It's not an over the top friendly place (no hugs or fake conversations) but it's not cold or depressing or uncomfortable. Just the way I like it. I'll be back in two weeks for a bang trim. Thanks !

It's just a small place but it's very nicely decorated--not your typical "strip mall" type of hair salon for sure. I always wait until just about the last minute for my appointments (meaning I decide "Oh crap, I'd really like to get my hair cut tomorrow!") and Karla was able to get me in no problem...plus she was super nice and sweet. She was very attentive to what I wanted and had some suggestions. The only thing that's a little strange is that you pay your stylist directly, and at that moment, Karla didn't take credit cards (I can't vouch for the others). But to their credit, she did take a check so at least I wasn't worried about trying to drum up some cash. (Though, if I had no form of payment on me, it feels the type of place that would likely have no problem of you coming back later to pay.) I would definitely recommend this place to anyone.

Every time I'm there most of their clients seem to be of all other ethnicities but I feel they are a true find for us Hispanic curly hair girls who every now and then are looking for a good blow out.
