I had a really uncomfortable experience at this location. I was browsing when a staff member at the register suddenly rushed over to me in an aggressive way. It felt very targeted and unnecessary. I can't say for sure what he was thinking, but it honestly felt like I was being treated suspiciously because I look younger. I understand that stores need to prevent theft, but the way it was handled made me feel embarrassed and singled out. There are ways to approach customers respectfully without making them feel accused. I left feeling uncomfortable and unwelcome, which is disappointing because I've shopped here before without issues. Quality customer service still exists! At least at this Ulta location. Talayah didn't just point me in the direction of suggested products and then walk off. She made suggestions, escorted me to where stuff was located and helped me match shades for various things. She informed me of what was popular in addition to personal recommendations. Another guy chimed in with some make-up pro tips as well, I wish I could remember his name but he was really nice too. I walked out less confused than when I walked in and confident in my purchases. Im giving this Ulta location 5 stars!! I walk in and I am immediately greeted. No it's not like a robotic welcome with plastic smiles like other locations. This store is clean and very presentable. #Winning Each aisle was clean. The sample products werent damaged or looking used up. I went to look for Anastacia products because I love their brow pencils and to get a Kylie Jenner lip kit for my niece. I had no problem looking for what I needed. It was good reassurance when sales associates offered assistance. Other locations, suchas Rockville will ignore you or roll their eyes if you have to interrupt them. They had their shampoo sale going on and I needed a particular brand, so the sales associate found the last bottle in stock for me. #winning again. Checking out was a breeeze no waiting. Im the queen of couponing so I forgot about their coupon they had. They told me how to pull it up and to apply it to my total. Other locations wouldn't do that (( Rockville)) . I really like this Ulta. It's usually well stocked and the staff is very helpful and polite. Someone is always there to greet you when you enter and you can usually find staff in most areas of the store to answer questions. It's at the perfect location in the mall because it's close to one the entrances so it's always easy to find parking and it's a short walk from the parking lot. read more

The cashier named maya was really rude. I came to do an even exchange and she was doing too much.

I called my Ulta salon closest to me to find out how I could make an appointment and what the price was on a service. I was told that if I made and appointment and selected the service I was going to see the price, which happened and made my appointment. However, sadly the next day I get the stylist telling me that if the appointment goes longer than the original time there is a $50 extra for every hour. Hence, the original price for highlights was $125 and she mentioned it might take 3-4 hours. Thus, it would be over $200+. This is extremely disappointing because nowhere in the website does it say that for every extra hour there will be a $50 charge. If I had seen that I would have considered it before making an appointment. I don't know if this is a specific salon implementation, but it should clearly be stated in the website so people who make appointments are aware of the extra fees. I have been going to Ulta salons, but after this incident I will definitely look into other options. read more

I will never go back to this Ulta in Hyattsville MD or any other Ulta, I went to Ulta yesterday for the very first time with my friend, we were at the register, I had almost $90 of makeup and my friend has her phone number on file with them for points and discounts, the cashier said if my friend applied for the store card then we'd get a 20% discount on my purchase- I specifically asked the cashier if I could get the 20% discount on my purchase she just rang up because I was paying with my own card not my friend's card- the cashier said yes absolutely I would get the discount "right now" paying with my own card if my friend applied for a store card, so my friend applied for their store card and was approved but then when rung up, we asked where our discount was, then the cashier said, "actually you only get the discount using the store card which arrives in ten days and you won't get a discount today at all." My friend then said, you tricked me into applying for your store card because you knew we wouldn't get a discount today, then the clerk said she could cancel my makeup sale transaction if we wanted but she couldn't cancel the store card application, I said I didn't want my transaction associated with the store card discount offer so please ring me up again but separately from the card application transaction because I felt uncomfortable, like the cashier lied to me about me being able to get the discount using my card, just so she could make a store card sale, after I specifically asked and confirmed getting the discount on my card with her, when she cancelled the original sale then the manager came over and instead of using any managerial skills to find out what was going on such as asking us what happened or asking the employee to let us speak the employee told her that we called her liar, I pointed out that I said she lied just now which is not the same as saying she is a liar in general, then the manager said it was our fault for feeling lied to, don't blame her employee and then said she was cancelling my transaction and would not sell me any makeup at all because we complained about feeling tricked into applying for a store card. This was all very calm and no voices were ever raised, and a very big security guard came over and stood 3 feet from me when the manager came over so we were all very polite, I feel bad for the poor guy having to work in that atmosphere all day; anyway, the manager said it was closing time and she would not ring up my makeup and we were welcome to shop somewhere else. Guess what Ulta, I can buy all this makeup online instead of in your store where your cashiers appear to misrepresent your card offers to your customers just to get card applications and data from unsuspecting customers. I prefer to support local businesses but I will never go back to this store because they never even had to offer a discount but no one likes to be sold a false bill of goods, they treated us terribly for asking about our own transaction, and were very rude and also I am filing a complaint with the BBB for misrepresenting the terms of their store card. Also, I will discourage all my friends from shopping there. read more

I went to Ulta Salon and booked an appointment with Crystal in April 2024 for a haircut. For the preface, my hair is coarse and thick, and it was long. I showed her a picture of a reference of what I wanted, she did not ask any questions nor analyze my hair. I noticed a lot of hair on the floor, but I trusted her at the time. In conclusion, she gave me uneven layers and way too short bangs. The layers were only in the front but in the back there was no transition, just a short and long layer. Although she tried her best to fix it and convince me it looked good, it did not. I left disappointed and with my face down. I had to go to another salon to get it fixed. She asked questions and analyzed my hair and noticed damage. She asked me how she cut my hair and I explained and she said the way she did it is actually damaging to my coarse hair and that she took off too much volume then needed for the cut I wanted. I ended up cutting it short completely because of it. Crystal was kind and tried her best, but I will not be going back. read more

-Let's just say that after several hours of shopping here to help my elderly mother prepare for a formal party, I dropped my items at the front of the store and took my cash elsewhere. -Was so eager to visit this store...Missed the grand opening, but finally got around to going -Unless you're there to buy Benefit or Mac products, don't bother. -Much better Mac counter (less crowded and hectic, and better stocked) inside Macy's Entire front is filled with drug store items that could be purchased anywhere, including the TJ MAXX and Target in the same mall. Sincere waste of space. -No Ben Nye, no Fenty, no Sacha Buttercup, limited Nars, no Ordinary, not even any Iman in the drug store section... -Most disappointing was the staff. Only Mac and Benefit were staffed (likely due to the paid appointments for makeup application). This means that a) getting help with anything else the store sells is pretty much impossible, and b) if you ask for help from a staffer, you are likely keeping them from their paid clients, so they will be rude and rushed. -Just don't bother... There's a Sephora in JC Penney, a ton of discount brand name make-up at TJ Maxx and Target, several makeup counters in Macy's, and several locations to purchase fragrances throughout the mall. Don't waste your time. I'd be surprised if this store survives for very long. read more

On October 1 2022 my sister and I went to the Ulta at PG mall. We first entered the store and was immediately ask by the security guard us "Can I help you?" Which that was odd since the employee did not ask us. We said no and walked throughout the store. During that time we noticed that the security guard was there. I didn't mind at first but we noticed that everywhere we were in the store she was there a few steps away Still none of the employees ask us for any assistance in the store and the security guard continued to follow us. Having that done made us feel like we were theives or shoplifters. We visited the store several times in the past and we had a great experience with the store. When my sister confronted the security about her behavior, she became argumentative and confrontational to the point I had to start recording. When she noticed she left but I could never go back to store with a security guard that is unprofessional from attitude to uniform and assistance who do not assist. read more

This ulta has disappointed me so many times. Broken makeup, dirty and broken displays/samples, and they're ALWAYS out of stuff I need and want. One time I came here at 7:40 and they had the doors locked already even though they close at 8pm. It's sucks the pg girlies can't have anything nice. Just save your time and order online. read more

I'm really trying to understand the low reviews for this Ulta location. I've been to this location twice, and I haven't had any issues finding the beauty products that I use not to mention that both times the Ulta employees that I interacted with were super friendly! I'm not sure what kind of store experience you are looking for, but I thought that it was well known that Ulta stores carry a nice variety of high end and low-end beauty brands. I look forward to buying my "drugstore" products at Ulta and using the coupons that Ulta frequently sends out via mail and email. I get the $3.50 off $15 coupons monthly and the 20% off coupon every third or fourth month. I love that Ulta offers salon services too! Did I mention that the salon here is fantastic! On my first visit, I asked an Ulta employee about the salon and if they did natural hair like flat twist outs and flexi rod sets. They actually do, which is so amazing! I was able to book my hair appointment for the following week with Meshia. She was awesome! She asked me which product(s) I used and how I wanted my flat twist out to lay. She was very gentle with my hair and walked me through the whole process. I was pleased that she was willing to use the product, Design Essential, that I usually use for my flat twist out, so I already knew that my style was going to turn out bomb. After Meshia was finished with the flat twist, she sat me under the dryer for about 30 mins. I ended up leaving without taking the twists down as I wanted them to stay overnight. I assured Meshia that I was a pro at taking my flat twists down. She asked me if I needed any oils and suggested a really great brand, Macadamia Professional. I used that oil to take my twists down the next day, and they were perfect! I came in and showed Meshia the next day and also took a picture. I will definitely book future appointments here. I feel like the prices are very comparable to other Natural hair salons in the area. I love that I'm getting my hair done in Ulta, which houses sooo many hair care brands for all types of hair. The stylists are familiar with the different brands and can show you some that are good for any hair type that you may not have even thought to use. read more

I recently have become a card holder due to a promo offer and pre-qualified status at your silver spring location. I had a very small purchase in which the sales associate informed me that I can use coupon at a later date. I shopped a few days later at your prince George's plaza location in which I attempted to use my offer and was told I had no offer and that it needed to be redeemed at the time of opening the card. Dispite the fact that this associate was not engaging as she conversed with every other person beside the paying customer. She has no interest in solving my delima and referred me to the manager in which she was equally unconcerned with my problem. As a new card holder and not frequent shopper of Ulta, I found this encounter to make me consider closing my card and not shopping again. As a person in the service industry myself, every encounter should be pleasant and represent the company and whatever mission statement to service clients with respect and go above and beyond to satisfy the client I was highly disappointed as the manager just referred me back to the previous store and told me that is why they suggest to each new card holder to spend at the time of opening the card. That comment did not satisfy my issue not helped the situation. Being a card holder means that I will always have money to spend on the store at any given time, but my desire to use this card or shop in either locations is on hold. Seriously surprised @ the low rating for this Ulta location! It's one of the best, well-stocked Ultas I've ever been in. The sales assistants are the absolute best--always helpful and friendly. Every single time I've needed help, I've left the store 100% satisfied. If you've never been inside an Ulta before, no they do not sell Fenty or other Sephora-exclusive brands. Yes, they sell drug store makeup that you can buy anywhere. However, they always have coupons available if you check their website and their rewards program is great, as you can redeem your points for cash off your purchase. My only complaint is that the shades of darker toned face cosmetics go out of stock quicker, given the demographics of the area and I wish they would order more of these shades to meet the demand. In summary, this Ulta location is a great addition to PG mall and has a great staff. read more

(This is a review from a few months ago).Like others posters have pointed out--service, service, service!! It is horrible!! for this experience, I might as well shop online. As far as products and selections--they have it all. No complaints there.Juvia's and Fenty were available. But I was looking for a particular Nars Audacious shade (Domonique). The woman over at Nars told me she actually was the NARS representative and did not work for Ulta(so I expected her to know her products better than anyone). There was some release going on--it might have been the Orgasm blushes and glosses, so she kept pushing that on me. She did not even listen to me. If she was smart she could have said, "Well I don't have that color, but let me show you some shades that are similar." I made it clear I wanted something from the Audacious collection, bc it is my favorite formula, so I would have been easily swayed--but due to her poor listening skills, she kept going on and on about the Orgasm products, which I had no interest in. I sad ty, and walked out!! The other employees are the type that do not interact with customers, try to look busy stocking and restocking, when they should be busy greeting and informing the client, & then asking if we need anything. But alas, this is PG County--Hyattesville at that, I have come to realize poor customer service is the norm. Sad really. I came in for a Friday afternoon haircut. It was my first time at this location, and I had a great experience! Kayla was my stylist, and she did a fantastic job of asking specific questions of what I wanted and getting to know my hair before doing anything. She recommended the deep conditioning treatment which was amazing! She was very gentle throughout both the washing and cutting process, and I never felt pressured to "tell my life story." I am very happy with the haircut experience. After, I shopped around the store which was clean and organized. I will definitely be coming back! read more
