For the second time in the last few years I had a bad experience with Lancome mascara I purchased there. Frankly, those are the only times I purchased mascara there. I worked for Lancome at one time and found Definicils to be absolutely the best. When I made my first purchase of mascara at Ulra, I purchased my fave Definicils. When I used it for the first time it was like using a dry brush! No mascara except for flakes. Yes, it was dried up. About 2 weeks ago I took a chance. I bought another Lancome mascara. This time it I bought Hypnose. SAME PROBLEM!!! The mascara was once again so dry it would not even get on my lashes with the exception of 2 or 3 flakes. Lancome is not cheap! Ultra must be purchasing other store's going out of business items instead of dealing with Lancome. Can you say "bigger profit margin"? Lancome is a well respected company that would not send bad merchandise out. I will go to Dillard's, Macy's or anywhere else from now on. read more

The only reason why it even deserves a one star is because the lady at the checkout counter seemed nice. Looking for the Bobby Brown collection to purchase my foundation . I realize that the foundation was not displayed so I asked the associate if she can check the stock for me to see if she had my color. She seemed a little hesitant, but she did it. In the meantime, I took other tester samples and did isplotches on my face so I can figure out if there was an additional color that fit my skin better. As she's giving me my foundation that I requested I'm looking in the mirror trying to swatch other colors and she asked me "Are you opening the new bottles and testing them?" Very rudely. So I looked at her with a very confused faced and politely said no I'm obviously testing the sample bottles. She walks off and doesn't say anything. Obviously, I'm needing help with swatching and she has no interest in helping. So then I proceeded to look around the store looking for pimple patches and she just watches me looking confused and does not ask me if I need any assistance. So of course I told the front cash register lady about the bad experience and she was extremely polite. As much money as I spent in Ulta, the customer service here sucks. Just went there today. Demonte is such an absolute sweetheart! I usually have a hard time finding my foundation color because my skin just changes so much throughout the year, I do not like going to the store, I'm more of an online shopping person. I was so lucky that Demonte approached me and was willing to help not just with my foundation but also with my concealer. Just lost a platinum member! I went in a month ago for a blowout. The lady that did it, used no heat protectant on my very dry hair until the end when I asked her to. I could smell my hair burning and the flat iron was on over 400 degrees. Initially when I left, I was very happy because my hair was straight and looked nice. The second picture is of my hair after my first wash from it being straight. I waited three weeks, used deep conditioning treatments and then just cut pieces out because it looked terrible. I then when to Ulta and spoke to a "stand in" manager that looked at my hair and agreed to give me a cut to fix it at no cost. What great customer service I thought! When I went in for my appointment the lady doing my hair (which is Marcella) super sweet and good at what she does, suggested we do a deep conditioning to try to save curls and wait on the hair cut. I agreed. The first picture shows my hair a week after the deep conditioning. As you can see, there is no change. This is not Marcella's fault and I appreciate her trying to help me. When I called to schedule my hair cut, I was told it was going to be $55 and the "stand in" manager that originally told me my hair cut would be covered said she never said this. She stated that they only comp hair cuts if a prior hair cut was the reason for the damage. Now, had I just went with my gut, and got the hair cut on my last visit like I wanted, this would not be an issue. Let me say that I am not a person that tries to get free stuff and every job I have had besides one, has been as a manager in customer service. I asked the manager if a hair cut I was already promised to get, was worth losing a loyal platinum customer and getting a bad review and she stated I would not be getting the hair cut for free. So, with that being said, I will be stopping by the Harker Heights Ulta store to use up my earned platinum member credit and will not return. I am a military spouse and have shopped at Ulta in several states. I have never had any problem like this before. I do hope that the actual store manager reads this and also corporate because this is just BAD customer service. read more

Using one star pains me. I don't like to do bad reviews. However, yesterday I went to Ulta in HH on the recommendation of an acquaintance/friend. I've been looking for a while for a place and her hair always looks so pretty. I called and made the appt. I gave them the full info of a cut base colour to cover greys and highlights. I was nervous. I've had an amazing hair dresser for 11 years but recently moved to Tx. My appointment was at 2. I arrived about 10 min early. I was greeted at the front door and immediately at the salon. Friendly faces all around. I sat in the chair. The young lady never told me her name, so I can't even tell you who did my hair. She literally didn't say another word to me until it was time to wash my hair. Another co-worker offered me water. I have a lot of grey at my roots and temple area. It's been about 10 months since I've had a salon cut and colour. She was thorough in wanting to match the colour and brought me some swatches to pick from. I told her a dark chestnut brown and caramel highlights. Even showed her a picture of my hair the last time I had it done. She went back to mix the colours and then began. 3, yes 3 hours later she was still putting foil in my hair. So the first ones she did stayed on my hair for 3 hours!!!! She was foiling both the base and the highlights at the same time. She dropped the bleaching mixture on me twice, she has the base all over my forehead and cheek. I feel as though this was a first for her. Finally she went to rinse my hair but only the bottom half the rest she left on. 20 min later she did the rest. Shampooed, conditioned and whatever else she was doing. My back was soaked. And I had water all the way down my front. She began to comb out my hair and it really hurt. So I asked her to put some kind of tangle free in it first. She said she couldn't or the "toner" wouldn't work. WELL...after she put the toner in and rinsed it I had ORANGE highlights!!! Orange, not honey, not caramel but ORANGE! It looks like I tried to do them myself. She kept saying the colour will be fine once it's dry. Then came the cut. 1" please! Nope 2.5" came off. Then I was supposed to get long layers. Nope an inch above the original cut, she cut another layer. Finally 5 hours after I walked in I walked out after the place had closed with orange highlights and a very sore head. I have two streaks on either side of my head from my temple back and 1/2 they grey is still there. Now, I know she didn't do it on purpose and I know she wasn't being malicious but she is not equipped to do the hair I asked for. I want To say she was new at it. Maybe never foiled before. But I'm now stuck with pretty bad hair. I think some of the other girls are better but I must say when I called to talk to the manager she told me I should have addressed it last night. I told her you were closed and I had someplace to be that I was late for. She told me there was nothing she could do. But I could come back and pay to have it fixed. Ummmmm NEGAVTIVE!! When I told her the price was outrageous even if it had been perfect she had the never to tell me you get what you pay for. So I told her then my hair shouldn't be orange!!! She hung up on me. So, go at your own risk and if you do I hope you have a better experience that I did. read more

I had a great experience at the salon located inside Ulta in Harker Heights. I made an appointment, unsure about what exactly my hair needed. Miss Schevonn (an Elite Stylist) was SO knowledgeable when it came to my hair needs. I ended up receiving a gloss because I needed to freshen up my color without causing any damage to a keratin treatment I received about a month ago. She also suggested I trim off about 3 inches in order to get rid of the frail, dead-ends that were doing my hair NO FAVORS. I'm so glad I made an appointment at Ulta and got paired with Schevonn. Why offer curbside pickup if no one is going to answer the phone or fulfill the order? I know they're doing their best but this is just ridiculous. After spending about 15 minutes in the parking lot on hold on the phone, I finally went inside. I expected them to be busy, with the way no one was answering the phone. But when I went inside, there was no line. Three people were standing behind the counter just talking. Ultimately super disappointed in this experience and while I won't be using this Ulta again, I hope the experience is better for anyone who has to shop here. read more

Just had a buy online, pick up in store order and it was a horrible experience. Got my product, opened it and saw someone had stuck a finger in it. Immediately took it back in and the person "helping" me said she could not exchange it for the exact same item, with the exact same barcode. I couldn't even just return it. I now have to make another trip out here, what a waste of time and how ridiculous! She was also entirely annoyed and rude. I decided to run in here because it is next to Target. I wanted to see if they carried a particular brand. I'm not the biggest Ulta fan as far as makeup is concerned. I'd much rather go to Sephora but when you live in a small town like I do. Meh you take what you can get. I walked in and was greeted by two associates. Okay, so far so good. After that it kind of went downhill. I go to the section where Urban Decay is located and begin to browse. Well, while standing there the 'makeup artist' who is helping another customer. He completely blocks my view with not so much as an excuse me. Then he angle his body where I can't get around him. So I'm standing there while he's carrying on. Finally, I had to say "I was standing here". I then had to create a pathway to get out the aisle. Do you think he cared? No. Do you think he apologized for essential moving me out the way? Hell no. If you don't want your hair CHOPPED up (literally) do not go to their Hair Solon! Even though i told her I didn't want it short She just started "chopping" it off. I didn't say anything because how could I just get up and walk off? I left there in tears the Hispanic girl chopped up my hair and there's literally no style, some hair is longer than other. It's just a mess. She left it so short I won't be able to fix it until it grows back. I went there because I thought they'd be high end stylists but what a lesson learned. I went to visit my son and I did a wonderful job packing for my trip except for one little thing. I completely forgot my body lotion so off to Ulta I went. I was immediately greeted by the 3 employees at the cash register area. The store is laid out a little differently than the Ulta that I shop at when I'm home but it was easy to find what I was looking for. It was my first time seeing Ulta brand body sorbets. There were 3 flavors, pineapple, buttercream and chocolate. The buttercream smelled delicious but I was curious about the chocolate. I couldn't get the lid up for the scent and didn't see any employees around so I took it to the register. I explained that I have arthritis in my hands and the cashier nicely popped open the jar for me. Buttercream was the best in my opinion. When she rang me up she said, you look so young to have arthritis. I just told her thank you and that I was in town visiting my son in the Army. I wasn't about to share with her that arthritis can effect any age even children. I appreciated her opening that jar so I could try the scent. I like Ulta's variety of products, reward program and customer service. I definitely recommend. read more

I have made appointments twice with this store weeks in advance and even received my call the day before to confirm all to get here and have them tell me that they took me off the books. I will never trust this bunch again. Non was who I made my appointment with and he even confirmed it and then sent me packing when I got there. One time for a hair color the stylist kept me 9 hours with out food or water and then charged me $450 for the service. I can't believe I was willing to trust them again. 3 stars Because Kelly at the brow bar is an Angel! I highly recommend her! if you want your eyebrows to look perfect call her! but the salon itself is horrible!!! I went in wanting an Ombre and lost 4 hours of my life! and nothing was done about it even after talking to the manager who basically blamed me for my hair not turning out right. I made an appointment with Paul Mitchel to have my hair fixed, I will never trust Ulta salon with my hair again. Went to Paul Mitchell in the fort hood exchange yesterday to have Them fix your disaster. Stefanie first looked threw my hair and said as highlights go they were awful. Un even, blotchy, some areas were void of them, and other areas had too many. Some even showed signs of bleeding threw the foils. Came here to check out what the store had in stock. The store is simple,organized & clean, even down to the clearance racks. The store holds a variety of perfume, hair, nails & makeup products, neatly stocked & sectioned off even with a little salon in the back. When I walked in the store, their were 4 workers, 1 at the cash registers, 2 in the back doing hair & 1 walking the store organizing everything & greeting people. The staff was ok, asked if I needed help but not over doing it. Personally I don't like staff down my throat about buying products. This area never ceases to amaze me with its horrible customer service. I briefly thought that a store that sells higher end cosmetics wouldn't fall into the bad customer service trap that the rest of Harker Heights and Killeen falls into, but I was wrong. I've gone into this store a total of probably five times in two years after my first experience was unimpressive. For comparison, I used to go to Sephora on a weekly basis. The bad customer service is what keeps me away. In all those visits, I was only ever greeted one time (my most current visit, and last last time I'll spend money there). The first visit almost two years ago was a failure. I had just moved here and didn't have certain products with me, so went to buy replacements. A gift with purchase (GWP) event was going on. I got back to the hotel, and my GWP wasn't in my bag. This was after receiving zero help or even told "hello" while shopping. Every visit is the same: no greeting, no assistance, missing/damaged/used up testers, and employees who hide if they see you're looking for help. My last visit was the final straw. I spent over $100, again with no assistance. I actually spent less than planned because I couldn't find certain products. Oh well. At the register, I noticed the cashier didn't out my GWP in my bag. I asked where it was, and she said "Oh I think we're out" while looking around nervously. She then lazily opened some cabinets, and lo and behold, one was stuffed to the top with GWP. She put it in my bag with an annoyed look. I've worked plenty of retail, so I'm pretty sure I know what's up here: they're not giving out GWP so they can claim "not enough customers qualified for it" and then take it themselves. I understand hoping for a legit freebie from your job, but to outright lie about it so you can take stuff home? From now on, I'm just gonna come here to test products and go home to order it from the Sephora website. Prestige cosmetics cost too much to have to deal with bad service. I'm done dealing with the lazy, grumpy 20 year olds. read more

Sadly, I have to agree with the other reviews. I spent way a lot of money getting a full set of highlights done (by the salon manager mind you) only for them to look brassy and orange. I explained that I wasn't thrilled after she blew my hair out and like other reviewers mentioned... They tell you to "wait and think about it". I asked for 20 foils and it looked like she did 6. - according to my new stylist it seems they charge per strand of hair for highlights. I'd stay away unless new management steps up and changes the customer service and quality of work. read more

They have a great selection of products, both designer and drug store brand. However, there is a bit of a mark up on some of the drug store brand products. Most of the staff are very courteous and eager to help. I tried the salon for the first time today and am happy with the services I received. I just got my ends trimmed and a deep conditioner treatment. The trim counts as a hair cut and style and is $48 which I found to be expensive. My stylist made an effort to focus her attention on me but there were interruptions to answer the phone and book other customers that walked in. It wasn't her fault, they just don't have an abundance of staff to handle that so the stylists can work uninterrupted. At such a high price I wouldn't go back for a simple hair trim but I would go back for a hair style and color job. Also they offer free skin mapping to help you choose face products. I went ahead and dropped it a star, specifically for the salon's pricing. The list price for a haircut is $38 and I was charged $48. It says that prices may vary, depending on your stylist's experience, but I feel like they shouldn't charge that much money just to trim ends. read more

The customer service can definitely improve on sales floor. I went to get a haircut with Krista. I was very hesitant at first because I had a horrible experience in Austin. I have been to Krista twice for a haircut and has cut my hair like I have asked. I went to Krista to get some color done however it didn't turn out the way I wanted it to. She said to give it a few days and i did, still wasn't looking the way I wanted it. called her Monday morning and she was able to schedule me for Wednesday. Went in on Wednesday still didn't turn out the way I wanted. She added more highlights and those did turn out blonder however now I have honey and blonde which wasn't my goal but now have it. Just wasn't happy with the color at all. So I decided to go back to someone different to do my color. Called ahead of time and surprisingly got an apt an hr later told her that I wanted all over blonde color instead of the highlights. However once I showed up there she said she didn't have time that it would take more than 2 hours to do it. Um yeah I was pretty mad that I drove over there to tell me she didn't have the time. So I decided to give them oneeee more chance called ahead of time told them I needed them to make time to do an all over blonde color. I walked in and wanted to get a price quote first before anything. She quoted me $400!!!!!!!! My hair is long yes (about middle of back) and dark yes (with blonde highlights) i understand about using more toner and all the that jazz but $400 I thought was excessive for all over color. I get that they are a LARGE corporation but regardless that's crazy. Walked out went to another salon and got it done for $80 and turned out fabulous. Won't be returning! read more

I didn't have any of the customer service problems mentioned in other reviews. I went only to the salon and Krista did a great job on my hair. I will be honest and say she's the first new person to cut my hair in about six years and I was a bit nervous. Krista put me at ease and was very sweet, my hair (only a trim) turned out perfectly. Krista was working alone and had to manage me, the phone and anyone who approached the desk all by herself and she did so beautifully. My checkout experience at the front of the store (to pay for my salon service) was just fine. I had a coupon for new salon clients and it was accepted without any problems. The attendant was helpful and even got my Ulta card reestablished after years of inactivity- I was a Sephora girl before moving to Killeen where Ulta is just about our only beauty store besides Sally's. Overall I would definitely make another appointment with Krista at the salon- she's great and the rest of the store seemed ok to me on this visit. read more
