I just heard today that Ulta now stocks MAC products so since it's so close to my home I went to get blot powder. The MAC representative said, "that's a very popular item, a lot of people have been coming in to ask for it, but we don't have it. I said are you out of it? She said no, it's not something we stock. I said, well since a lot of people have been asking for it, can you order it? She said no, that's not something I can do. We don't stock it." No offer to pass the information along to their district, store, or brand manager or any type of business acumen and she had a look on her face like what's your problem? I am so tired of companies and their hired representatives taking my purchasing power for granted. I am going to leave this right here. I like Ulta and liked the Flower Mound location. However, here's how you can expect to be treated: my first encounter was with a mature rep who knew the store and product lines, and was quite helpful She directed me to the MAC counter, an unfamiliar product line. I had to walk THROUGH a gaggle of MAC reps who were too busy gossiping to assist me. I was exploring foundation and had to snag an employee walking by just to find out the product coding system. It was only at that point that a MAC rep came over -- useless. LESSON: Only go here for products you are familiar with, and expect to self-serve. My first time EVER in Ulta and it was so overwhelming in a good way. I was on a mission to find a certain shampoo and it was so easy to find. I really like how they had the types of beauty products in their on sections of the place and it was labeled with a sign, saves you time. The place was packed however the shelves were kept neat and tidy. The staff were all knowledgeable and willing to help you find what you need, but so many rich snobby customers... smh. This star review is SERVICE based. I generally order my items from other beauty stores and thought I'd give Ulta a chance as they are close to home. I had my grandbaby with me and she was asleep when I arrived so I chose the curbside option. After submitting to the store I was there and waiting 22 minutes in the curbside parking, I called the store numerous times with no success. (pressing 4 multiple times over) Finally, I opted to call the salon and thankfully Angie (sp?) answered and went to find someone who would assist me to obtain my item. The call was transferred to Alli, who promptly ran my item out to me. I'm not certain if the store is understaffed or what their staffing tier looks like through the week, but I hope that someone of importance sees this review and proper adjustments are made to save the next client the time I've lost. I usually visit an Ulta store at least once a month. Time after time, I have tried to give this location a break after break just because of it's convenient location to my home. However, this afternoon I went there to look at two skin care items that I wanted, which were recommended, and from what I read looked like achieved the same skin care goals. There was not one associate around to ask, so I proceeded to walk up to three girls congregating in the higher end make up area. (I am sure talking about quantum physics, rocket science, or something of greater importance)I asked if I could bother them to answer a quick question I had with the differences of the two products I had. From what I read on line, both products look like they are used for the same issues and for the same skin goals. All three sales reps, were confused as to what each product could do, or differences, and proceeded to ask me "what I wanted to use them for?" I knew what I wanted to use them for, which I had already explained to them previously. Furthermore, I had stated I had seen a video where an "aesthetician" suggested using both products and wondered if any of them had heard of this before? Again, I was looked at like I had two heads and with the preverbal Deere in headlights look. At that point, the one Ulta rep suggested other products to me at a higher price point, which products were for different issues than what I needed the original products for in the first place. Trust me, I was a cosmetologist 20 years ago, but since that time received my masters in another area, so I know how to take care of my skin, very little sun, eat right, exercise and drink plenty of water, so I'm not a novice when it comes to using great products and/or receiving proper facial treatments to preserve my skin. Needless to say, these three rocket scientists offered me zero assistance and the one was almost just rude. I just said "thank you, and walked away." I then began looking for a great translucent powder, but not one person came over to me to ever ask if I needed assistance, nor were they assisting other customers either. I eventually got the hint all staff wanted to just skate by for the rest of the afternoon. I proceeded to leave, I walked up to the cashier line then I believe I heard the cashier say to another associate "what is going on today why are we so ....ma'am I can get you down here"I about replied "if it won't make you exert too much effort for you, considering I am the only person in line please please please can you check me out?" (Sarcasm) I then realized this location is not worth it...ever. I won't be back unless they have a manager or assistant there at all times. However, when you have 18-20 year old somethings working who have ZERO respect for their jobs because their parents have paid for their cars, their phones, still buy their clothes and pay their rent, just proves this is the disease that is eating up America right now like a cancer. I just wanted to leave and get the heck out of there. I then began to think if the employees and mgmt don't care if they reach their store sales for the day, then why should I. I was a retail manager when I was there age. I know for a fact, each home office sets daily goals from the previous year to date which sets the store's goal for today's date. This is in hopes that the corporation can exceed sales from the prior year. This bs customer service will catch up to this location and their managers. A person ,or persons, will have to answer as to why prior YTD numbers are higher then this year. This country is in a major financial crisis right now, staff will have to work even harder because the of gas last year wasn't almost 5 dollars, interest rates weren't as high as they are now, the lowest cost of an increase of perishable goods in grocery stores from a year ago was between 8-12%. Staff will have to sell more especially at check out for add on items to make up for some of these additional domestic costs. Here is a hint-Your associates cannot add more sales by acting like they don't care if there are customers in your store or if they are not there. By the way, I was at the Plano location on Thursday last week. I didn't really know how bad the customer service sucked here in Flower Mound until I visited the one in Plano. Of course, I always have Sephora up the road here in Flower Mound too, so thank goodness for that. read more

Have you ever sprayed just a spritz of fragrance on your wrist at the store and quickly realized it was too much and too strong? Crap. I did that here, yesterday. I turned to the nearest employee who was doing somebody's makeup and I waited until they finished their conversation and asked if she had a wet wipe. She shook her head no. She obviously didn't understand...I said I just spritzed some perfume and got too much and just needed something to wipe it off with...she looked at me like I was the biggest pain and I said, "Sorry to have bothered you." I found cotton balls, tissue and makeup remover and did the best I could. The person who rung up my $150 worth of purchases was cold too. This review is based off the salon as well as the store itself. I went in a few weeks ago to get highlights and saw "Mimi" although she talked a lot and seemed nice it was a painful experience, I mean literally PAINFUL! She was so rough while washing my hair that is became super tangled and my scalp hurt so bad but I kept trying to be polite and ignore it (although when it became too much to handle I did politely let her know) she seemed to not understand or maybe she just didn't care. After the highlights and rinse was complete she began brushing my hair which as mentioned was a HUGE tangled mess but she just went straight in with the comb not using anything to relax the tangles until finally CHUNKS of my hair were on the ground then she took me back for another condition. After that she was still super rough! In the nicest way I could I let her know the color was not what I had hoped it would be, she responded by telling me she thinks this color looks better with my skin (I WASN'T ASKING FOR AN OPINION I PAID FOR A SERVICE). But again I don't like confrontation so just figured whatever I'll just deal with it until the next time I need highlights and go elsewhere, ANYWHERE but here. I could also tell that another stylist sensed that I was not happy but instead of intervening just went ahead and asked when I would like to come back (obviously never!) I paid, left a proper tip because it's the right thing to do but I'll never come back. As far as the store itself, it lacks in many things, I could hardly find anything I usually buy online or at other locations so I suggest going to another store even if the drive is longer. read more

I had an amazing experience at this store today. Honestly, it just brightened my whole day. I was searching for face/eye/wrinkle creams of various sorts for both my mom and me. I called first and talked to the manager of that section, Ilena. I hope I spelled that right. It's pronounced Ill-ee-nuh. Anyway, she was one of the most knowledgeable face cream sales ladies I've encountered at either an Ulta or a Sephora. She has 20 years experience in this field, so that makes absolute sense. She had a different recommendation for every single little issue. She didn't have a coined one-size-fits-all go-too pricey face cream for everything. She also didn't try to just sell me the more expensive one, because it didn't fit what I was needing as well as the less expensive one. She actually recommended the more inexpensive one!!! I loved her honesty, and her matter-of-fact up front advice. It was worth gold. To top it off, she gave me some samples to make sure I tried a product I was feeling sketchy about buying just yet. The funny thing is that today was my day to do errands looking like crap. She was absolutely gorgeous, and probably could even model. But she didn't judge or have a single ounce of snobbery in her, even when I looked my worst. She was super nice, easy to talk to about my embarrassing flaws, and even gave me water when I started some weird allergy coughing spell. Still love Ulta. It is by far my favorite make-up joint. Coming from CA into this Ulta had me a little turned around. I had no idea where anything was located. Trying to help my mom find some makeup that I was trying to recommend was impossible. One lady was nice enough to help us out once I was able to track her down. They don't seem to restock their shelves very often. My mom was looking for an eyeshadow brush - large or small. Neither was on the shelf and it didn't appear there was a spot for it either. I went into their inventory down below where they keep their extra products and sure enough they had exactly what we needed. The lady behind the counter kind of gave us a weird look like "What are you doing?" I casually mentioned that no one wanted to help so I took it upon myself. She just shrugged. Ulta.com is sometimes easier because you can find EXACTLY what you want from the convenience of your own home but I do like the experience of being out and about. so my friend and i went to Ulta at flowermound (closest one we got) and this was my third time going there. So we paid and once we were at the car police parked behind my car and then the police man got out and told us to get out of the car which we did and asked if i knew why he was there and I answered "no" he said "are you sure?" And i said "yes" and asked if i bought something which i did and asked what i bought and i told him and asked " so if i look in your purse im not gonna find anything else?" And i told him "well i have a bunch of make up and lipsticks" so he asked for my id and started to go through my purse and took all my lippies and started to open them to see if they were used even checked the names and brands and i was so embarrassed because people were just staring at us and then he continued to search into my friends purse doing the same stuff. He went to the store 3x and the last time he apologized for the inconvenience and said they had no proof of us stealing and said that they had to do it since they received the call and we understand thats their job and have nothing against them. They were nice and respectful. My problem is with the store! They wrongfully accused us of stealing. NO PROOF, Of it. I used to work in a retail store and understand that you have to check and always watch costumers but to the point of calling the police on someone you have to be 100% sure that if they look in their purse or bag they will find the stolen product . Im so offended because we stood there for like 20-30 mins because of a false accusation. I mean if you're gonna accuse a costumer and call police at least make sure you saw them grabbing the product, putting it in their bag, and walking out without paying for it. Terrible experience today. My luggage was lost from recent travel with all my favorite make up items. I went to my local ulta today, which I shop regularly. I was looking for a specific benefit brow product. I could not find it my preferred color so I asked for help. The "beauty expert" basically said there's alot of items out of stock and I can look around. Subsequently she referred us to a second "expert" which was beside her. This individual without words looked at me and my sister in law, sized us up and looked away. I responded with "um ok" as I was perplexed by this interaction. She said maybe you are looking for something that is an old product. And I responded with I don't think so because it's on display. Honestly, as a PA I have thousands of patients from all walks of life and always treat everyone without discrimination or prejudice. However, after a very long time I felt disrespected and discriminated aganist in my own neighborhood. Very disappointing interaction. Nobody greets you, they look at you like if you don't belong. I've never felt so out of place because of my skin color.
