Overall, I have very positive things to say about this salon based on my most recent visit. I decided to try a new color stylist because I felt my previous stylist wasn't fully understanding the look I was trying to achieve. I scheduled an appointment with Bre, and she immediately took the time to understand my vision. She asked thoughtful questions to make sure we were on the same page, which I really appreciated. The color turned out exactly how I wanted it, even though I came in with a lot of ideas and suggestions. She also did a fantastic job with my haircut. I wanted a V-cut with layers that would remove some weight from my hair while maintaining length, and she delivered exactly that. The biggest downside is the cost. This salon is definitely on the expensive side, and there seems to be an additional charge for almost every service. I ended up spending over $500 during my visit. While the results were amazing and Bre was worth every penny, it's difficult for me to justify that expense on a regular basis. Realistically, I could probably only afford to come back once or twice a year for touch-ups. That being said, if the pricing fits within your budget, I highly recommend giving them a try. The quality of service and results are excellent. My first experience at the salon was less impressive--I only got a haircut with a Level 1 stylist, and it wasn't cut or layered the way I had requested. I don't get my haircut that often since I like to keep my hair long. BUT I really needed a haircut! I had dead ends and it was just time. I booked my appointment online. I was required to pay half now, and the remaining at the time of the appointment. Reasonable cost. The salon has a chill vibe and everyone was friendly. Lexy was such a pleasure to have as my stylist. She's personable and knowledgeable. She knew exactly what I wanted. She cut my dead ends while keeping the length long with layers. I have only been to this place twice and my hair turned out better than I had wished for both times. I have had so many awful experiences with hairstylists and just gave up for a while, even bleached my roots myself (sorry Tara), but I was recommended to come here! I bought extensions online that I wanted my hair to match and I did not expect them to be matched so perfectly. They were blended and I got soooooo many compliments at work today that my clip ins didn't even look like extensions. WARNING!! If you have curly hair do not step foot in this place or you will regret it. I never write a review for anything, but this I had to do. This was my very first time ever getting my hair colored and they ruined my experience. I was also needing a haircut at the same time. So I was required to pay $100 non-refundable as a new client. My appointment was at 8:30am exactly when they open. My stylist Julissa was a mess. Not having her station ready and dropping things on the floor. Just not prepared at all. Which was a red flag in itself. But I decided to give her the benefit of the doubt. But that was my mistake. I asked for a trim of just the dead hair which would only be about half an inch and a 1 fade. When she was doing the so called fade. I told her I needed it deeper and she said that was the only razor she had available. Why would you guys offer the service of a hair cut with my coloring if you don't even have the right equipment to do a certain haircut. Also When you have curly hair everybody knows that you should wet it to actually see the curls and extend it with your two fingers so not to cut too much. Tell me why when she doesn't do that and cuts it while it's still curled. Cutting more than 2 and a half inches. Mind you it took me a while to grow this much in my curls. And when I asked here she said I prefer to cut it dry. And that she only cut an inch. Which clearly wasn't what was cut. Since she cut that so called half inch of hers while it was still curled. And I couldn't correct her because I was going to have dent in my hair if she tried to correct the rest. It's not like I can ask her to glue the hair back on. So after she messes that up I ask her to hold a strand up and ask her how long it is just to have her see if she can figure out what she did wrong. She tells me it's about an inch and I tell her I came in with over 3 and a half inches of hair. She goes and repeats that she still only cut half an inch. But you would think she knows the math ain't mathing. At this point I didn't even want my hair to be colored, but I had to since I paid the $100 non-refundable. I wanted a caramel color but wasn't sure exactly what color. They had told me they won't really know til they bleach my hair to see how light it can go which is fine. She goes and does the hair through the plastic bags since I wanted highlights and tips and I didn't need the foil apparently; but it seemed kind of uneven when she was doing it. (Which it did end up coming out uneven) She was asking a lot of questions. And seemed like she didn't know exactly what she was doing. If I wanted to go to someone who was still learning I would've gone to the Ogle School. When it came time to color we found out my hair can't go as light with the colors which was fine. We agreed on a color in a picture they had shown me which seemed like dark caramel to copper and I could see that color so I knew what it looked like. Tell me why during the coloring she goes and tells me. "I found out we could go lighter so I did". Without telling me or showing me the color that would have been lighter. She just made the decision without consulting me first. And when I called to speak with the store owner(Summer). She felt like it was an inconvenience to her. And I was just complaining just because. When I explained to her about the hair cut. She said certain stylists choose to cut hair a certain way. Which is fine, but if it's cut wrong, it's cut wrong. And when I proceed to asked her when you cut curly hair do you extend it to get to tips or just cut it?, she completely ignores the question. And when I responded that she cut more than 2 and half inches with her so called half inch. Summer had the audacity to ask me if I measured my hair before I came in. No I didn't need to. So she proceeds to ask me how do I want this to be resolved?(Still as if I'm an inconvenience) And I would have presumed for her to give me the options on how to resolve this problem; since I'm unsatisfied customer. I asked for refund for the haircut. But to be honest I should have asked for a full refund. With the whole mess that happened. I haven't ever been to very many salons in my life, and the first few times were lackluster experiences that I didn't feel were worth the money at all. NOT so with Denton Color Lab! The first time I went I was a little hesitant since they asked a lot of questions about my hair and even pictures before I came in, but it was worth it 100% so they could get my color and cut done exactly the way I wanted it. The first time I came in Kat did my hair (she's now at another salon) and the second time Kinsey did my retouch! Both of them and every single one of the stylists are so sweet and supportive and helpful and ask for your opinions through every step of the way. Kinsey even had a great new idea for my hair this time around and encouraged me to do something different from what I planned and it turned out STUNNING! Also, the salon itself is very well laid out, has a great modern vibe, and they even offer drinks while you do your hair. Literally the worst haircut I've ever gotten. Save your money and go to Sports Clips if you want a sub par haircut. I made an appointment with Mercy for a trim and for face framing curtain bangs, the stylist didn't listen to anything I said and somehow came to the conclusion I wanted layers from 2007. I don't care if Mercy is a Level 1 and she's new... your customers shouldn't have to be guinea pigs, that's what training is for, so train your team to give decent haircuts instead of hack jobs please. And always double check what the clients is asking for before you do something extreme like that. Jeez. Before she even cut my hair I told her how much I loved my hair long and she point blank asked me how much I wanted taken off and I said just a trim. I left with my hair of all different choppy lengths on the floor and there nothing I can do that would fix this. I was so confused when I realized how much she was taking off I asked her what she was doing and she said "I thought you wanted layers", and I said "no, I wanted curtain bangs like the picture I showed you multiple times and a trim which I mentioned more than once and it's also in the appointment notes", and she said "oh well, I've already cut it so it's too late..." no apology or anything. It was a complete hack job. Now I look like I should go apply for a job at Hot Topic. My hair is extremely uneven and I have random chunks all over that are a good 3 inches shorter than the rest of my hair all over my head. My bangs are way shorter on one side and she charged me full price for a haircut after she completely did the opposite of what I made the appointment for when all I wanted were very minimal changes and she made me look absolutely ridiculous. I got it toned too and it took 3 hours for a wash, tone and cut cause she saw me 20 minutes after my appointment time and randomly left for 30 minutes to ask another stylist advice on things she should have known the answers to in the first place because somehow she's a professional stylist. I can't believe I paid to have my hair ruined. It looks like my toddler have me a haircut. I'm really particular about my hair and when I trust people with it I expect them to at least apologize when they mess up. I'm the one who has to live with this, you could at least say sorry. I got it cut for maternity photos which will last forever. I really don't want an after the fact apology, if she was sorry she would of said something during the appointment. Just trying to warn people cause I wouldn't wish this haircut on my worst enemy. Starting this review off (and I will update if need be) by saying how shocked I am at the pricing, I actually have not had an appointment there, won't be making one so I cannot come on the quality. I did a email consultation, which consisted of me telling him a little history of my hair, and kind of what I was looking for as well as sending photos. All I was after was some blonde highlights. I have an amazing colorist in Dallas, who has given me that beautiful bougie Oscar Blande blonde, that beautiful California blonde we would always mix a couple of different shades, a warmer golden blonde with more of a brighter Barbie blonde that mixed with my own hair color, gave such a beautiful dimensional hue. Price for a full head (front back sides crown) the whole shebang 200$ which included using 2 different shades of blonde. I asked for a quote for a partial and a full, using just one shade of blonde not two as I was certain that would raise the cost so when the quote came back for the partial I almost fell over in shock! I couldn't believe what I was seeing! 443$ for a partial highlights!! apparently this included a blowout a haircut and Ola Plex treatment- they can take away the haircut, but they're going to include the blowout and they're gonna also include the Ola Plex for the health of the hair they say. So now it's 343$ lol unreal! Not interested in a blowout whatsoever but to pay $343 for a partial highlight is high way robbery! I'm new in the area and was initially trying to get into the local Aveda salon as I was going to an Aveda salon in Mobile, AL that I loved. They couldn't fit me in for 6 weeks so I asked to be put on a wait list and I decided to search out there in my friendly Yelp app to see who else might be a good fit for me. I found the Denton Color Lab - the Yelp reviews were pretty good and they were able to get me in after my business hours!! That's a real plus as I just can't take time off to tell my boss I'm getting my hair done. :-( so, they got me in at 6:30 in just a couple of days actually requested by me. I arrived... nice, clean salon, friendly people and I was immediately asked to be helped. It was my hairdresser and she had me come sit in her chair. We chatted a bit, very friendly and interested and seemed to listen to me. I told her my Aveda salon had a formula but I didn't know it and she was confident she could fix me up. She mixed up my color and got started right away. Then I waited for the process which is always boring and seems like you are wasting time but when you have grey that needs to be colored, you just have to be patient. When the timer went off she came right over and we went over to the sinks. I had told her my hair was very dry lately and she recommended something that would be great for me and she informed me how to use it at home and also that it was a special treatment that could be done in the salon. She also told me up front about the cost without me asking. :-) So, I did the moisturizing soak, rinsed me out, then on to the blow out. She did a great job and didn't waste any time chatting to other hair dressers or anything but was friendly and attentive to me. She did a great job blowing me out and the color was fantastic. Loved it. My hair was also smooth and felt in such good shape again. The cost of everything was $115 I believe and I gave her a $20 tip. That was a ;fair price as about what I was paying before also. She told me how to use my product for moisturinzing and took a couple of pictures of my hair which I will post. I scheduled a next appointment with her and feel great that I have so easily found someone great in my new location. I recommend this place highly for color. I saw another hairdresser finish up someone and her hair was blonde with highlights and it turned out just gorgeous. I'll be back!! I am so happy I found this gem in Denton. I have lived in Denton for about 5 years now and I just discovered this salon. Where was I before? I was desperate to get a haircut because my hair is so thin that it tangles every time I just move! It was so frustrating. I also bleached my hair about a year ago at another salon and hated it because of how damaged my hair ended. (Which happens when you bleach) Anyway, I saw that this salon specializes in colored hair and things like that so I messaged them well after 9 (their closing hours) for an appointment this week and didn't think they would reply until the next morning. I was wrong! They scheduled me in for the next day with one of their new stylist ,Tori, and I was ready to go in less that 10 minutes via email! (Which I hate phone calls so this is a plus) When I arrived, I was greeted and offered a drink and asked if I needed anything. Super friendly! I even added a last minute eyebrow service because they had a bit of time without any questions! I explained to Tori exactly what my problems were and what I wanted done and she went above and beyond! My hair turned out soft, bouncy, and light. I am completely in love with her work. She even took the extra step to show me how to use my olaplex treatment that I mentioned in conversation that I purchased. Completely not worth $300. Maybe my mistake was going to a level 1 stylist... I wanted to touch up my balayage and get my hair cut straight across. She even messed up the straight across cut, leaving an entire section longer than the rest. I went home and had to cut that section myself. And the color turned out very orange, despite my using the recommended Redkin's purple shampoo twice a week. The balayage also looks completely awkward and is nothing like the pictures we agreed on. I have been going to Denton Color Lab for over a year now and have been impressed every time I have been in. My hair is very thin and was so damaged I thought it would never grow back or grow back healthy. Elizabeth Rose is seriously a miracle worker. She has the uncanny ability to educate her clients on good hair care habits without making them feel like they are dumb. She has completely revived my hair from brittle and thin to healthy and growing! I usually see her every 6 weeks and always have a different request for my hair. Elizabeth Rose always accepts my requests while providing me with recommendations to protect my hair during the process. Apart from her extensive hair knowledge and strong work ethic, Elizabeth Rose is such a sweet soul. Her and I have had many conversations about people, work, life, and other things outside of the purpose of my hair appointments. She always makes me feel like everything I say has value. I truly feel like she is one of good friends! The prices of this salon are typical for a high-end salon, but I truly want to emphasis that the quality in which you are paying for is completely worth it. Elizabeth Rose always ensures that I will leave the salon loving my hair. She uses multiple colors/toners in my hair for unique, blonde colors in which would not be possible to achieve by only using one color/toner. Although this costs more, I am so thankful she does this for me. She also neeeever makes me feel guilty for not wanting to cut my hair. This is pretty huge for me since most stylists will peer pressure their clients (for good reasons) to chop off all the dead ends. However, Elizabeth Rose only takes off the minimum amount that will keep my hair healthy. Additionally, the products that Denton Color Lab uses are seriously worth the price. You cannot achieve fabulous hair without investing in good products. Also, Kaylee was my stylist a few times at Denton Color Lab and she is also wonderful! I always had great, healthy hair whenever I left her chair. Kaylee always checked in with me numerous times throughout my appointment to make sure I had enough coffee and that I was comfortable too. She is an incredibly talented stylist and so sweet to me every time I come in. I am a little disappointed to see some not-so-great reviews for the Denton Color Lab because I have had nothing but wonderful experiences that have saved my hair and brightened my Saturday mornings. I am confident that the low-starred reviews are merely small exceptions in comparison to the many men and women that have had wonderful experiences time and time again. I'm one of those tragic clients who falls off the hair appointment bandwagon and wakes up one morning realizing I've become some long-haired person that I don't recognize. This last go around, I've been working with Alexis. Besides the fact that she's really friendly and patient, she truly listens to my hair concerns. In the past, it's been a struggle to find stylists who believed me when I said I wanted to cut off eight inches of hair (yep, I'm sure!), but Alexis committed to making my hair dreams a reality. At my last appointment, Alexis gave me a razor cut. I've always preferred razor cuts, but I can never seem to find anyone comfortable enough to use a razor. While away from my usual stylist, I booked an appointment here for a chop & to blonde up my hair - which was a HUGE change for me. Peyton took my reference photos & made them COME TO LIFE. This was my first time getting my hair cut here, and I'll definitely be returning. The entire staff seem very friendly, I was greeted by literally everyone when I walked in. I waited maybe 5 minutes before being sat in Brittneys chair, during which one of the employees gave me a quick tour of the place and offered something to drink. Brittney was wonderful, she listened to what I wanted and asked questions to clarify. I really couldn't be happier with the results! I will admit I was intimidated walking in because it's such a trendy space, but everyone was so nice and I felt absolutely no obligation to buy any products. I had a disappointing experience just with the phone call and consultation itself that I decided not to get my hair done here. Let me explain. I called to ask some questions about pricing and was told to do a consultation, which is totally understandable as I needed a color correction. I made an appointment for later that evening for the consult but decided to call and see if I could get a range of pricing prior to the appointment. I was told I could send pictures to the salon via the website and I could get a range since I didn't want to waste my time if it was too much for me. I never got a response for those. Anyways, I decided to go ahead to my appointment and I spoke to a hair stylist about my hair. She told me that the only way to go from black to red was to bleach all of my hair and that it would be "expensive" and "damaging" and that it would take a long time. I'm not here to crap talk a business so I'm just telling my story, but there's a lot wrong with this. First off, I had a few other consultations and was not once told I'd have to use bleach on all of my hair. The other salons were willing to give options. I think it's just lack of experience here. I think I was most upset about how unwilling this stylist was to come ik with suggestions and the verbiage she used. I ended up deciding to go to one of the other salons I had a consult at and she was able to color correct and dye my hair red WITHOUT bleach and it only took about 2 and a half hours. Andrea SAVED my hair guys. I came in with swamp green hair- the result of a green temporary dye over blonde hair that didn't wash out. When it didn't wash out I freaked out, put auburn over the green, and here we are. I looked like Shrek, no joke. She was so patient and sweet, let me pick my shades, and asked questions about what I wanted. She worked extensively from my references, and she is such a perfectionist that it came out beautifully. I'm going in again next week to finish up the balayage and get it perfect, but she is a MIRACLE worker. I highly recommend her. read more

I made an appointment at Denton Color lab after dealing with Salon 720 in frisco being so rude and messing up my hair then charging a fortune!! 2 other places really messed up on my hair as well.I did alot of searching and researching before I settled on Denton Color Lab.Well,my daughter Jada & I both went on 3/11/2020. We got there,were given a tour of the salon then we sat in our chairs I explained to Dana that I wanted copper red and Blonds lowlights/highlights.We discussed what she could and would do to my hair.She went to get the color ready and a treatment plan.She came back with a price sheet and explained all the prices to me.It was expensive but you get what you pay for when getting your hair colored, cut,permed, etc.I didn't even bat an eye!I have been going to hair salons for 40 yrs.I was so glad that I knew how much the bill would be before hand. So many times I was shocked,not in a good way when it was time to check out and pay after having my hair done!It was nice to know upfront how much it would cost.Dana did a wonderful job.I love the colors, it's gorgeous!My hubby loves it.I told Dana that I didn't need a cut because I have a hairdresser for that.Now I wish I had let her cut my hair before we left.I trust here 110%!!I will call her for a trim soon.I will be going to Denton Color Lab for all my hair needs!!My daughter Jada had Lauren color her hair.She did a magnificent job on Jada's hair.We love it.Jada has taken tons of selfies!
