So this was my last ditch effort for a salon in Denton- my previous tries have been failures. I called on a Tuesday and was surprised to get an appt that night because I thought it would be hard with college night BUT there is no more college night. That of course was NOT a dealbreaker for me. The end result was a pretty good cut- honestly the stylist who cut my hair didn't consult with me long enough so some things were lacking but I left on a high of freshly cut hair. The next day however I re-styled my hair and was saddened by my lack of cut bangs. Not a problem at HeadRush though! As I was told the day before- they offer FREE bang trims between services. What?! I'm sold. I went back in and saw Nick who did something new to my bangs which I'm still learning to love but I like his edge to my quick 5 minute free trim so I might ask for him next time. Good haircut just be sure to tell them everything you want right away. And free bang trims- done. See you next month HeadRush Salon. read more

I had been going there for about 2 years, trying out every single stylist tyring to find one that I clicked with. None of them were awful but I had to go back a 2nd time several times to get things fixed. But at least when that happened, the 2nd time was free of charge. So when I had finally worked my way to someone that I did like, she left! But I mustered forward anyway and made an appointment with someone new there to get my hair colored/ ombre highlighted. It was over $200 dollars and nobody could tell that anything was even done! Now I don't mind dropping some serious change on my hair but it has to be worth it and this was not! Everyone at my office was appalled at how much I paid for what was done. And then when I called to complain, the stylist said that it was what I told her to do. Uh-no. We obviously have different interpretations about what I was saying but to pay over $200 for a color that didn't look like a color all the while not telling me that she was starting to charge me extra for work is absurd and bad business. So a note to those considering going there. If after they color your hair and you aren't happy with it, ask them before they start to fix it if they are going to be charging you for what they are doing. Because as it turns out if they think that they didn't make a mistake, that they did what you asked and gave you the color you described (even if they didn't!), then you will pay for everything that they do the 2nd or 3rd time around to make you happy. Also get traditional foils instead of "balayage". That will cost you $25 extra. Another little tid bit they won't tell you until the bill comes. Expensive lesson learned. I will never recommend this place or the stylist, ever. Such a shame. read more

I just moved here from California and needed to find a new stylist. (I am very particular and honestly haven't settled with a new stylist since my former stylist moved about 6 years ago!) I did a ton of research on Yelp, Instagram, etc. before choosing Caily at HeadRush. I knew from the consult that she was the right choice. And she was! I am so incredibly happy, finally the search is over! She created the most beautiful, fine highlights, giving me an overall stunning blonde. Jennifer Anniston status. ;) And my cut is wonderful as well! Just a trim but it lays so much nicer now. If you're a blonde (or going blond), go see Caily. You won't regret it! read more

Headrush is where my wife goes to get her hair done. I just started going there as well. We see Lindsey when we go there. She's awesome. This one time I walked in there and said "I Need a hair cut." and she was all like "NO you need a lot of hair cuts!" OMGZ!!!!!111!!!! LOLZ!!!!!!!#@@#!!!! First time I ever heard that joke, seriously. I walk into this place looking terrible and walk out looking.....well....still terrible. But now I have a trendy hair cut. I generally tip spare change and packets of orbit that I have in my pocket and she is genuinely happy to receive it. The girl I saw the past two times was a little snobby and wasn't easy to talk to at all. She did an OK coloring job on my hair but it definitely didn't look like a balayage, which is what she insisted I should get. On top of that, it cost almost $200 for the whole thing. read more

Went to Headrush for the first time on Friday, got a short haircut and a balayage. The balayage went great, but the haircut was absolutely not what I was looking for at all. He butchered my hair, and had to go to another salon that had to cut it shorter to fix the terrible job I was left with. All in all, my hair was cut WAY shorter the anything I wanted it to be, and I will NEVER be returning. Save your money. Overpriced and not done right. Ending on a positive though, the guy was really nice but I was super disappointed by the end result. read more

I know quite a bit about hair and hair styling products ( I am a junkie) and with that being said I am very particular about who touches my hair and what salon I get it done at. I had heard very good things about this particular salon and that they have College Night, which allows you to get 50 percent off whatever service you want on a Tuesday night( from 6-9pm). I knew some friends who got their hair done and had nothing but positive things to say so I decided to check it out. The first booking I made was not on a Tuesday night because those nights were booked 1 month in advanced. I cant remember the woman who cut my hair but she was very informative and somewhat talkative. Im normally a quiet and shy person if I don't already know the person, It takes me a while to open up, but she was very friendly and I enjoyed the conversation. 40 bucks later and I was Very satisfied with my hair cut. With it being my first time there I was given some coupons that gave me 10 dollars off i think my next haircut. I made an apt on a college night and with my coupon my total came to 11 dollars. With my second apt I was with Justin and I will def. be going back to see him for my hair, he was very outgoing and understanding that I only want the best for my hair. The atmosphere was calming and relaxing, not to bright with blinding lights and flashy advertisements. LOVE LOVE LOVE this place. read more

A bad haircut crushes my very soul. I lose my will to live. Just sayin.' Kristy Goplin at Head Rush brought me back from the abyss. She has a graceful, methodical technique AND she understands curly hair (!). PTSD from a chop shop scrub brush haircut from another salon was a sleek bob and Zen-like calm after 45 minutes. It was almost Biblical. Not quite changing water into wine, but close. Way too much styling product for me but it was probably necessary to work with the Brillo pad hair I showed up with. Given that I was jumpy and anxious, and that she was working with me and my hair for the first time, it was a WOW result. I will follow the peaceful path of good hair karma back to her chair for my next cut. Excellent work. read more

i went in May to receive a brazilian blowout which just so happened to be the "special" of the month ($199 from the usual $249). I wasn't happy with how they skipped over steps in the process, in what i call was their way of simply trying to save money from the "special". comparing the service and quality of my hair and the process, I'd rather have paid full price. Maybe both service and quality would be better if it was not a Brazilian Blowout "special" of the month. I'd get the treatment again, because I've seen the results with my friends (who receive the blowout elsewhere) but not here again. There was a HUGE difference between receiving a blowout here and elsewhere. read more

I've tried dozens of salons in the DFW area and I'm incredibly pleased that I found HeadRush. Contrary to other reviews, I have never had trouble with scheduling or sneaking in a quick complimentary bang trim and all of my hair stylists (a multitude because I tend to schedule at the last minute) have been well-trained & convivial. Honestly I never get anything more adventurous than a trim or cut, but to someone who has long hair they are continuously creative, understanding, and quick. The atmosphere is chic without pretension and calm-- the stylists give orgasmic head massages and never try to pressure you into something you wouldn't want/don't need. It runs about $30 for a cut & my partner is also a fan-- he loves his regular stylist Justin. read more

Its not a bad place to get a haircut. Though, the last time I went they raised the prices with out giving me a notice, which I didn't really like. I understand "levels" and promotions of stylist, but I just wish they would have told me when they call to remind me of the appointment. I had kate as my stylist, shes really easy to talk with and will make sure you're satisfy with the cut. I've gone to Head Rush off and on the past couple of years- the salon is one of the most well-kept and cleanest I've ever been to. There are a few issues I have with it though- I'm not sure how education/training works with their employees but I have had to go back within days of my appointment to have something fixed the last two times, by two different stylists. This last appointment, I had called and asked for someone who had been there for awhile and who was good with short hair....only to get neither. I was put with the most inexperienced employee and I'm not convinced that she is some sort of "short hair extraordinaire," after seeing the results. I'm not sure why a salon would book an appointment with that person after being specifically asked for someone who knows exactly what they're doing because of previous experiences. I really like this salon and I think the prices are very fair, but I wish there was some more thought into their employees (training stylists AND receptionists would go a long way). read more

Ever since I started going to see Cailey at Headrush I have never gone anywhere else! She is so sweet and really knows her stuff! She makes helpful suggestions and really has her customer's best interest when making hair decisions. Most places would just try to give the customer what they come in for right away even if it ruins their hair. I love that Cailey is so honest and makes suggestions of healthy and safe steps to get my hair to the desired look without frying or ruining it! Make an appointment with her! If you plan on visiting HeadRush Salon in Denton and expect to pay the advertised price for your selected service, you might want to get it in writing before getting started. Apparently, this place thinks nothing of telling you AFTER providing service that it's actually much more expensive than what's advertised on their web site. It's understandable to be told before you sit in the chair that your bill will be more than what's expected or advertised. However, finding out when you're going up to pay, that the price has been jacked up by 200%, doesn't make any sense - and actually borders on deceptive trade practices. So, proceed with caution at this place, and don't rely on their advertised prices for determining what your final bill will be! Probably best to stick with a Salon that's more ethical about what they charge customers. read more

I have been bouncing around with stylists for years and I'm so glad I finally found keepers at Headrush! Lindsay does my hair and I can't say enough good things about her professionalism and sunny disposition. Kristy is my go to for up-dos and make-up. She really proved herself when she did my wedding hair and make-up recently. She went above and beyond to make sure I was happy, and was positive and patient with me through both my consultations and day of styling. I set the bar high and she certainly met it. Well, this crappy salon advertises $39 for all over color on their website. I go there and the girl does my hair, but there are ashy streaks in it, so AFTER she dried it all and styles it, she decides to dye the ashy pieces the same color. Sooo after 3 hours I finally go to pay, the receptionist says it's $71. I freak out, give her my coupon and say WTF, and she's like, oh, well she said you had really thick hair so she had to use extra dye, so sorry. So I left with shitty hair that I paid almost 3x the advertised price for. I will NEVER go here EVER again. My stylist was rude, told me she didn't have time to blow dry my hair (when this is included when you go there), and had no talent what so ever. My hair looks HORRIBLE. read more

I read the reviews and thought this place sounded great but it was very disappointing. First off, I went there to cut off my hair and donate it to locks of love and the lady asked me if I was sure if I wanted to do that. And then the whole time she was cutting my hair she didn't say anything to me, I kept trying to start a conversation and she was would respond with the shortest answer possible and then more silence. My hair ended up being shoulder length and then she started chopping it off and styling it without even asking me how I wanted it. The front is longer and the back is short, after she did that she preceded with thinning it 3 times and then straightening the crap out of it! Now all I can do with it is straighten it and I hate straightening my hair! Ugh, I'm so disappointed! If that wasn't bad enough, they charged me $5 more bc I had long hair! All she did was cut it all off! Then she handed it to me for me to send it in, I had to ask for a bag even. They gave me coupons for the next time which went straight in the trash! read more

Poor customer service! A place where no one is available to cut hair for walk-ins. Got an appointment for the following day and unfortunately I got there 15-20 mins late. Yeah, i know its my fault I was late but the appointment was for hair cut and color. So I asked if they could do just the haircut which should not take a whole hour to do, I'm sure. And have the color at a different day. Though I still have 40-45 mins left of my appointment, they insisted they could not do the haircut coz they are out of time. Seriously?!?!? They insisted that a good quality hair cut would take an entire hour!!! What a shame. I asked if they have anyone else who can cut hair. Unfortunately they wanted me to sit and wait 45 mins to an hour for the next available hairstylist. How many hairstylist does this place have? One? And they would really expect a brand new customer who have an appointment with them in the first place to wait longer juz because I was few minutes late? Don't ever go to this place!!!!! If your wanting to go blonde I recently went to Kylie and she did an amazing job. I usually have a light brown/ dark blonde hair color that takes 2 or 3 full highlights to get it to the color I want. Today I left a great color that I don't think I even need to do anything to. Very professional and obviously good at what she does. I am new to the area so I did a google search to find a good salon in my area. I decided to try HeadRush....but now I am totally regretting it. I had a full foil along with a haircut. Nicole was my stylist, whom during my 2hours there probably said like 10 words to me. She would not carry on a conversation and I felt that she was very rude. I have naturally red hair with blond highlights and told her I wanted more blonde since it was growing out. Here she added lots of Orangish red highlights that made my hair turn pinkish since I already had red hair. Then as far as the cut goes, I came out with a mullet looking haircut. For the expensive price, the lack of quality was just not worth it. I came in wanting a ashy brown balayage but came out with a streaky, chunky, not blended blonde/orange hair. I don't understand what went wrong. Only half of my hair looked like it was dyed because apparently balayage means that the bottom layer stays natural....that may be true if it was blended. They were very nice to let me come back and fix it free of charge. They couldn't get rid of the chunky streaks in my hair so they decided to tone it to get rid of the brassiness. After toning it two men started to blow dry my hair. I feel as if they should let me see my hair so I can see if it was the right color because after they spent so much time blow drying my hair, I didn't have the heart to tell them that it was not what I wanted.
