I stopped into ulta today to pick up some items and I noticed they had a lot of sales/buy this get free gift on things I use or wanted to try. Normally I don't spend as much in one trip but because of this I put a lot of stuff in my basket. When I got to check out some of the items rang up higher then the sale signs and I was told it was because they put the wrong signs up for certain products and keep forgetting to take them down and I won't be able to get those prices. (Today is a holiday and a lot of the sales we're on the sales because of the holiday but I didn't say anything it's not the end of the world no big deal just a little bummed) and a lot of the free gifts they were out of. (Again no big deal) I had mentioned that I still wanted the items I bought but they should maybe change the signs or fix the ones since I noticed a lot of other people in the store were getting some of the same stuff as me and they might be disappointed/upset that they aren't getting advertised prices/free gifts and they shoved it off. One of my friends that had also been shopping with me had mentioned to me in the car that she had asked an employee about a product she uses and was wondering if they carried it at this location as another ulta she goes to carries it and the person told her "Well we're not that other location you can go somewhere else if you want it." And when she tried to ask for a recommendation of something that might be similar she walked away and wouldn't help her. Because of that my friend didn't buy anything and doesn't want to come back. I don't really like leaving negative reviews but I think this location needs to work on helping customers so they can make more sales and if you forgot to change out signs then see what else you could offer to that customer so they would want to come back. read more

In the height of the pandemic I purchased several items and was assured that I could return them or exchange them at any given point in time because colors were not able to be matched. I had accumulated several returns over the course of several months and went to exchange them for in store credit knowing I was going past the 60 days for return and I was denied taking all of them back. The associate said it was past the 60 days. I said yes, it was Ulta's policy is to issue store credit past that. She said their store manager doesn't allow them to take returns or exchanges past 60 days. I told her clearly that's against ULTAs return policy. She said she would get the manager on duty. The manager came over and she was even more rude than the associate. She was incredibly abrasive and I simply explained the same thing I told the associate and she looked at every item with disgust like how dare I return these items. They were all in like new condition and she acted like I got them out of the trash. She opened each item and shook her head as she was doing so. She looked at me and scrolled though my account and said to me that I had been here several times after some of these purchases so why didn't I return or exchange them then? I told her it's not her job to interrogate customers on when it's convenient for them to return or exchange their items. She continued to say to me she isn't willing to lose her job for returning items. I showed her on my phone the ULTA return policy. She stormed off and grabbed the return policy notepad and stood there going over it. I asked her to show me where it says she couldn't take my items back for store credit. She couldn't. She told me she wasn't going to except my items, gave them back to me and gave me the store managers name and the phone number to the store to call and ask for her. I told her I didn't appreciate being treated this way and I am a loyal customer. I told her I was entitled to the store following their own policy on returns and she was refusing to help me. She had zero response. She glared at me as she handed me the information for the store manager. I assure you I will be following up with corporate regarding this as well as the ULTA customer service. I have NEVER been treated with such utter disrespect. I will NEVER patronize this business again. No wonder people are turning to online business. They can't get people to respect customers that patronize their business and pay their wages. read more

I have naturally curly hair and had a great experience the first time I had Jasmine cut my hair. Unfortunately, she is no longer there so I booked an appointment with Bryon S. thinking he probably had the same training. He definitely did NOT. Instead he cut my hair similar to how Jasmine had, but obviously didn't know what he was doing because there are CHUNKS of my hair missing. I think he just watched her and thought, "I can do that." I wish he would have cut it as if my hair was straight. It's uneven and choppy in a horrible way. I paid $65 and now I have to pay another $65 to go somewhere else where I'm really hoping she can make it at least look decent so I look professional at work. Hands down one of the worst experiences I've had at a place like this. I was shopping for my mother and had a question regarding some product she uses. The bratty store clerk that tried to assist me almost instantly began assuming the product was for me and basically pointing out my flaws making me feel insecure. I was not able to but what it was I was looking for because I was too disgusted with her attitude. After I finally found what I needed I went to the counter only to be greeted by more bratty clerks discussing marijuana and not prepared to take care of me as a paying customer. They have everything! Ulta is the ultimate beauty supplies and fragrance shop. Honestly, there has never been a time where I couldn't find exactly what I was looking for here. They usually have a coupon in the weekly paper, offer lots of buy one get one free or 1/2 off deals, and many of their distributors offer their own special deals. An example of this: I bought a LORAC eye-shadow and got a free LORAC (full-sized, not sample sized!) mascara. I tried some of the Ulta brand nail polishes and have to say I think they are sub-par in quality. They have lots of color options, but the finish looks cheap. I have not been to the salon at this Ulta location, but have been pleased with services at another location in the past. I will never shop at this store again. Came in on a very quiet evening and shopped for close to an hour. Numerous sales associates walked past me multiple times. Not once did anyone say a word to me but they did greet other customers that were within feet of me. I bought over $200 worth of product. I didn't grab a basket coming in and literally was having trouble holding onto everything as I headed to the checkout. Again employees walked right past me with not a word or offer to grab me a basket. The cashier was rude during checkout. I almost said skip it and walked out but I was out of everything I was purchasing and needed the items for a vacation. I will tell everyone I know not to shop at this store. Sephora has my business forever even if I have to drive 30 minutes to get there. If it were possible I would give zero stars. read more

horrible service/shopping experience customers get when they visit the ulta store at 4651 1st Avenue SE Cedar Rapids, IA 52403 (319) 294-3100 Most of The associates there r very unprofessional,rude, and snotty. I have shopped there 4 times. 2 of the experiences were just awful. I walked in there on November 6th. 4 associates were standing somewhat in the corner talking. I needed help so I approached their huddle and stood there for a minute waiting for them to aknowledge me. They never did so I said "do u guys work here?" One of them nodded her head really quick without taking her eyes off of the girl talking. I said "can one of u help me?" The girl that kept blabbing held her finger up to me to be quiet/wait one minute. I could not believe that she just did that. Finally a different girl came up to help me. She was awesome/very helpful. Then when I get up to the register to check out I asked the girl at the counter if she would price check a couple things I had brought up with me becuz there were no prices. She rolled her eyes and acted very annoyed. Like I said this is not the only time I've been treated like this there. A lot of The staff there are very very rude/unfriendly. I just thought u should be aware of how ur business is being ran in Cedar Rapids. I'm sure u don't want this behavior to continue. I was visiting family for the holidays and stopped to shop around and spend some of my Xmas money. Unfortunately the store was completely picked over. It looked liked they had just endured a tornado. Scarce shelves, missing/misplaced prestige cosmetics and drug store cosmetics, the first employee passed me without a simple greeting. Instead they just shimmied around me while they unpacked boxes. I used to love this store when I lived here, but now it just feels like they are trying to stuff too many things in one store. read more

Not very impressed on the customer service the past two times I've been there. I spend well over $100 every few months at Ulta...Love their products! But after my bill today of $127, I asked for some free samples of urban decay products which they did not have. That is a quick way for me to find something else that I like so I can buy it next time in their store. And the free item with the foundation purchase that I made today was out. And she did not substitute me with anything else. How much money do I have to spend to get some free samples? Or a smile!! Not impressive. Their customer service has gone down hill lately. Deserves 0 stars. Customer service is nonexistent. There are five or six registers and typically only one person working a register even when there is a long line. Sales people wandering around and socializing with each other. Most of the time, the merchandise I went to purchase is out of stock. They send coupons for merchandise which, of course, is out of stock. Whenever Ulta comes up in a conversation, the comments are always negative. They have lost a lot of customers because of their horrible customer service. I wonder if they are having financial problems because of all of the out of stock items;i.e. suppliers don't send merchandise if they aren't getting paid. read more

If I could give zero stars, I would! DO NOT COME HERE FOR YOUR MAKEUP! Either drive to Sephora or order your products online. The staff are just awful! they don't know how to treat their customers with respect and make everyone without makeup who walk in seem dumb and uneducated. I watched a "Clinique Consultant" harass a teenager and her 2 younger siblings for trying out makeup, which is ENCOURAGED by countless signs, tables, mirrors, and jars of disposable applicators. He was following them from a distance, and came up to them multiple times talking to them like they were 2 year olds, telling them to "be careful putting makeup around the eye area" an that "the testers are very dirty" and not to use them. They thanked him for his comments, which seemed like a kind dismissal. However, he continued to follow them around and give necessary and passive-aggressive "advice". When the teenager and the kids (who were not wrecking anything, bothering anybody, or wreaking ANY havoc, mind you) went to another section, an actual employee of the company came up and said "we don't recommend full make-up here" in a HORRIBLE tone of voice, AND standing right by a sign that said "go ahead, play!". They were only doing eye makeup, not trying any foundations or blush or anything. That is not what "full makeup" means. The whole experience was appalling to watch, and at that moment the teen stormed out, and let the workers know that any money she was going to spend was not going to be spent anymore. After having very good experiences at Ulta salons in Denver, Co and Columbia, Mo I was excited to set up a hair appointments at this location. Unfortunately I will not be returning to this Ulta for any hair appointments. I have gone here twice, the first time I waited for over 30 min after my appointment was suppose to start before getting seen, the second time it was over 45 min after my scheduled appointment before I was seen. While the staff was nice they were very unprofessional. The manager came twice to talk to my stylist in front of me telling her she needed to hurry up because they were closing, then in the middle of my cut they turned off half of the lights in the store. I did not feel carried about or well taken care of. The customer should not have to suffer the consequences of their poor scheduling. I won't be returning, or recommending this salon to anyone. read more

I stopped in to spend a good amount of money. I was never asked if I needed help which I did because I wanted to be color match for some new foundation. I walked around for about 30 minutes the whole time I had to listen to one of the employees talk about her wedding and all of the other girls were standing there talking. I finally asked for help but was greeted with some of the nastiest looks I have ever seen. One of the girls stepped away and asked what I needed and I told her she acted like i was a total bother. I put down everything I had in my hands(about 200 dollars) worth of stuff and walked out and drove the 30 minutes to sephora where I had great service. I email corporate and got a generic email saying there were sorry and a manger would be contacting me well it's been awhile now and no manager has ever contacted me.
