I've lived in LA, Nashville and Dallas before moving to Iowa, and the salon is something I would have expected from a larger metro area as far as capabilities, atmosphere, and whimsy. I had my hair touched up with a single color and trimmed as I am growing out a shorter bob. The hair turned out a little more red than I hoped, but knowing red often fades quickly, I went on my family vacation thinking it would be more auburn/brown when I got home. Over the next two weeks, the red in my hair did fade, but I had hot roots, so my new growth that was colored over was almost orange. The day after I returned, I sent a picture of my roots explaining the situation. At first I was told it would be $100 to fix (they do have a 7 day guarantee, and yes, I had been away for 2 weeks). When double checking, stating it was only my roots, they said they would be able to do it for $50. I understand color is expensive (as is time, overhead, etc.), but after paying the initial cost for a cut/color (way more than I expected for Iowa...definitely what I paid in LA/Nashville), I just couldn't justify it. I went to Walgreens and bought Clariol Root Touch Up (I have not touched a box of home hair color in 15 years) and used it at home and it totally toned out the hot roots and blended it perfectly with the rest of my dark auburn hair. Total cost: $9 and about 15 minutes of my time. I have received tons of compliments on my cut-it really works well with my wavy hair as it grows out, so I am debating whether or not to return. You do get what you pay for, and I am completely for supporting local businesses and young entrepreneurs. However, I do have a slightly bad taste in my mouth in regard to the cost for the area for basic hair services. I guess time will tell.

They're a little vague about their prices - everything starts at a reasonable price range (newer stylists?) but then there's a plus sign to which it seems there's no end. I'm not upset that I had to pay so much and I know I'll return, I guess I just wish they'd be upfront about how much the services will cost without me having to sheepishly ask... even just asking if there's a budget you need to stay within or having the receptionist confirm prices when the appointment is made would be so nice! I know from my experiences, Jess made it so exciting to be there and get made over that it was impossible to remember to tap the brakes to then embarrassingly ask about costs involved. Anyway, you get what you pay for, and I love my look, but my last 2 visits were the most I've paid for my hair at any salon, ever, even at some pretty freakin' incredible salons in the past (NOT in Iowa!). What we got was blonde, orange and a weird brown also the lady ruined my daughters tshirt ( it now has orange all over it). I told the lady I wasnt happy with it and she got an attitude. I said she ruined my daughters shirt she got an attitude. There is a flyer on their desk that says call the owner to talk to them! I did she said o'well as the lady rents a chair from her and not her problem. She did offer to fix kiddos hair but the only time we have is on the weekends and she said that doesnt work for her. I could ask the lady that did my daughters hair to fix it, why would I do that so she could ruin my daughters hair? I havent heard back from them or the lady about my daughters hair..
