I've never been more livid in my life to actually leave a review on Yelp before. But here I am, as a boyfriend to a lovely woman with type 4C hair, writing a review to warn others about Clarissa and how she rudely and lazily "straightened" and "trimmed" my girlfriends hair. I know nothing of how hair salons work, so I accompanied my girlfriend for the first time because she was so ecstatic about booking an appointment after wearing braids to help grow her hair for months. We moved recently so she had been longing for a new stylist to help her. She told me she needed a confidence boost so I was happy for her newfound excitement. So there we are as we enter the store with my confusion of how these salons work. Lo and behold, enters Clarissa. Right off the bat, I notice the look she gives to my girlfriend's hair and told us with an horrible attitude, "It'll be a while." I felt something was off and I looked back at my girlfriend as we sensed something was off. I joke with her to ease her mind. Clarissa comes back and essentially doesn't talk to us at all as she sits my girlfriend down. I, immediately go to the little chair and watch as I could tell she's nervous and off-putted by how she's treated at the very start. I go back and forth looking at her as she gets her hair washed for what felt like forever before the actual hair styling starts. I could see on her face the entire time, she was saddened and upset by the way she's being treated. I notice how the other ladies are striking up multiple conversations about husbands and sons. Places to go and see. Drinks to have at nice little bars. Not a single conversation was held or told at my girlfriend's station as Clarissa proceeded to ignore her and have a face that revealed only how bothered she could be that she had to straighten this woman's hair that laid before her. We eventually leave and I tell my girlfriend it looks lovely and I ask my girlfriend what's wrong as I notice she's silent. I notice a couple wild strands at the top of her head, even after being straightened, are cut extremely short and sticking out of all directions. I ask her what's wrong and say I'll go talk to the hair stylist myself. She refuses to tell me until we get into the car AFTER she's done paying around $200 and still tips $20 where I'm surprised she even did so out of PURE courtesy. As we're in the car, I later learn how this was supposed to be a hair straightening and dyeing the hair as well. Except, Clarissa informs her that "Clarissa doesn't have time for that" and it would have to be a separate day and separate charge for that. She then tells me how it's odd how long it takes to wash her hair. She felt as though, the "time" for this appointment was being run out on purpose so that there wouldn't be any time to add hair dye. Adding the fact that her neck was uncomfortable the entire time she had to have her neck in that position for a long time. I ask her how the experience was overall and how she was treated cause I noticed some tension via Clarissa's face and how upset my girlfriend looked. She tells me how she heard Clarissa mumble angrily to herself and made a "tsk" noise multiple times and how uncomfortable the experience was. As if she was bothering Clarissa, a hairstylist, to brush and straighten her hair. Clarissa later then asks if she should trim the hair to which my girlfriend said yes as there were damaged/split ends. She pulls her straightened hair to show me and I notice just how much shorter it is compared to how I normally know because she's had her hair straightened before where it's reached her bosom. She tells me how Clarissa cut off 2-4 inches off as her hair rests much further up on her chest whereas it was much longer. I insist that I'll talk to someone but she is too upset and saddened by this experience, prefers that we go on with our day. She puts her hair up in a bun to try and ignore the issue. It isn't until we get home and my girlfriend looks in the mirror and I notice as well, that one side is uneven as if it was a sloppily done rush job and she bursts into tears as she says this is her hair length back in 2020 and for a black woman with type 4C hair, this will take years to grow back to the size it was once. She also tells me through tears how sad she was the entire time as she wished to be one of those other ladies getting their hair cut as THEIR stylist was speaking to them the entire time and having an enjoyable experience because this was supposed to be a special thing to help her confidence and take pride in how long her hair is. Instead, it has been a nightmare and I'm unsure of how I can help her fix this. So now, here I am, writing a review for any black woman, women of any color really or even the boyfriend/husband who's dragged along. Don't waste your time here. It's clearly not worth your $200 plus courtesy tip. You might be seated by someone who treats you like a waste of her time. read more

Every time I go in the staff looks at me like I walked out of a barn. I always feel self conscious going into beauty stores and the way they look at me makes me feel worse and I always feel like I stick out like a sore thumb and I don't belong. I went in for a specific lipstick and asked if they had it and got a condescending and curt "no we don't have that" and they didn't offer anything comparable or to help me find something else I might like. Everything is set up in category areas so it you are looking for shampoo or conditioner, it will be in the same area. They seem to set up their stores in the same design so you know where to go no matter what location you are at. They have a great rewards program but it totally encourages you to spend more because you get free merchandise or free with $$ purchase. The store was pretty buys but the check out line went pretty quickly and the service was good. I walked in on Monday Dec 12th. I was looking for a specific product and found out, that the business no longer carried the product. But here's the best part, A young lady(very tall and beautiful) and a young gentleman went out of their way to assist me in locating the product, now remember I wasn't buying anything in their store, but I sure will in the future. I have to give a shout out to two of the ladies working at Ulta. Brittany who works in the salon is amazing!! So friendly and knew exactly what I was looking for when it came to cutting and coloring my hair. We instantly clicked and I love that when it comes to finding a stylist!! The manager of the salon is amazing too!! I can't think of his name for some reason but he is so sweet and super funny! Secondly, Krystal who works at the Benefit Brow bar! She never lets me down and my brows always turn out amazing!! She has been styling my brows now for at least 9 months and they look so much better than before I started coming to Benefit. 100% recommend going to Krystal instead of your nail salon. She is trained and knows what she's doing. To top it off she is friendly and super sweet!! As for the remaining staff I don't think I've ever encountered anyone who didn't greet me or ask me if I needed help. Everyone has alway been so sweet!! read more

I don't what it is about ulta in Florida and black people. Every time i come in a store I'm never greeted. No one offers help or I'm followed around the store as if I'm going to steal. I have your credit card you know I'm loyal if you talked me. I never have this problem in New York. You need to have a talk with your employees i shouldn't walk in store and be in there for over 15 mins walking around and no one helps or acknowledges me but someone who isn't black you go out your way. read more

Honestly , the worst ulta I've ever been to. Every time I go, something happens. First time I went I wore a big bag and the people who work there just kept on following me like I was going to steal and it made me very uncomfortable and I couldn't even concentrate on what I was going to buy. They literally followed me everywhere I went. Mind you there were other people with big bags but of course they wouldn't follow them because they are white. These workers were Caucasian .. and I am a Hispanic woman.. I'll let you figure out what was going on here second time I went which is today actually, one of the girls came Up to me and asked me if I wanted to hold all the things I was going to buy up front.. idk if she thought I was trying to steal or something like I was right in front of the cashier minding my own business then she tells me I can't take the brush out of the package and swatch them when I was only taking the brush out to look at it because I was looking for a really good bronzer brush.... I will never go here again .. I live in Boynton and if I really need to go to Ulta I will happily drive to the Wellington one because this was ridiculous. DONT GO HERE !!!! read more

I've waited 2 weeks to review.. my skin has never felt better after years of dermatologists and creams and medication to help control hormonal acne. I did a 10 min facial and then make up consultation with the aesthetician Elizabeth. Although I had my doubts at first, she guided me through a simple, yet effective skin care routine and make up routine. I came in with a 10 year old routine from my teen years but my skin has changed! Between Elizabeth, Emily at Lancôme, and Khrystal at the brow bar we came up with a routine. They were very thorough, kind, informative, and understanding of my uneven skin tone, hormonal break outs, and literally taught me how to achieve beautiful skin with an easy to follow daily routine. Can't thank them enough. Already been back in twice to exchange /explore more products which they helped me find and they remembered me by name. My self esteem has gone way up and I don't feel the need to constantly hide behind my hair. 5 stars and a raise to these women! read more
