This salon surpassed all expectations. I surprised my aunt by taking her here, she has super thick course curly hairs that most salons have failed in not knowing how to do her hair. I called after booking the appointment to reassure they knew how to handle her hair type and they told me it would not be a problem. My aunt was scheduled with Trudy and my aunt was running late and they were very patient about it. My aunt said as nervous but Trudy was so reassuring and she got her colored and blow dried and it looked beautiful. It's been years since my aunts hair could be blow dried to that silky smooth and she's been living in Florida for 35 years and finally found someone. I hadn't had my hair professionally cut in 5 years because I had a hard time finding someone that I felt I could trust since the last lady (in NY) botched my haircut the day before my college graduation! I have very thick and straight hair- not exactly as smooth as I wish. It was very long and down to my elbows after letting it grow out! So I decided 5 years is too long and I had been trimming my hair myself every month that my hair lacked shape and texture. Then I depended on Yelp on finding a salon I'd be most comfortable with. There were a plethora of salons that had 4-5 stars, but most of them didn't have consistent reviews or had very very short reviews explaining their reason why they liked the salon. I actually had researched for a month and saw a couple of my Yelp friends liked Resta. So I took their reviews seriously and decided to make an appointment with the master stylist & owner of Resta, Eric. I wasn't going to let anyone other than the master stylist go near my hair due to my bad experience 5 years ago, lol. I'm sure the others are great, but I just had to ease in my nervousness by feeling assured that my hair was in the best hands at Resta. My appointment was on Friday morning, the salon was already busy. The girl at the front desk was very sweet, and Eric was just finishing up a client and he smiled at me. Since I arrived maybe 10 minutes early, I sat down on the comfortable bench and I was mesmerized with the architecture and decor of the salon. It is NOT your typical salon where everything is stark white with fancy mirrors and lighting. Resta is a very artsy-fartsy kind of place. It reminded me so much of a couple of my favorite artsy-fartsy cafe hang outs in college in New York. There are paintings, drawings, sculptures on the walls. I felt so much at home because I am an artist myself, too. Eric approached me and led me to his chair, he pulled up a stool beside me and asked me what I had wanted to do with my hair. I shared a couple of photos that I had on Pinterest on my phone and he looked at what I liked and what I did not want. He clarified what he would be doing and consulted with me in his opinion what would work best with my face shape and the texture of my hair. I had wanted to go shorter than my shoulders, but he explained to me in detail why it wouldn't work with my hair type and the shape of my face. He then brought me to the back room to get my hair washed by another sweet girl (I never got her name). She massaged my scalp soooo good that I felt like I was gonna fall asleep. haha I went into the chair and let Eric work his magic. It must have taken about 2 hours from the washing to the finishing touches. I did not mind the long wait because from watching him work with my hair, I could tell he really takes pride in his own work. The finished result was exactly what I wanted! I LOVE it. I cannot stop looking at myself in the mirror ever since! LOVE my cut! I have uploaded my before and after photo so you can see why I am super happy with it! Resta is definitely the place I will recommend to anyone who is looking for a comfortable and relaxed place and awesome stylists!!! P.S. The Beat Cup Cafe is right next door and I kept smelling the delicious lunch being made wafting into the Salon. I nearly went in after my appointment, but I had such a busy day planned! I was really excited to check out Salon Resta and had high hopes because I had heard great things about it, but I guess my experience was different from everyone else's. I called the salon in early December to schedule an appointment for balayage and a cut. When I called, I spoke with Carolina. She scheduled me for a cut and balayage with Leah, but I asked her if Luisa was available for a cut because she was the one that I was referred to. Carolina informed me that Luisa was booked, which was fine, but about 15 minutes after hanging up Carolina called me back to tell me that she rearranged some things and was able to book me with Leah for the balayage and Luisa after for a cut. I thought, "That's awesome! What great customer service!" My appointment was at 9 am. I showed up, walked into the salon (which could have used a deep cleaning), but that is beside​ the point. I met Leah, went over to her station and should have trusted my gut instinct when I saw food just sitting on her station, no napkin or plate. I had a consultation with Leah and told her what I wanted for the color and provided some pictures for an example, but she never once introduced me to Luisa to have the cut consultation - Leah handled that as well. Another red flag. Leah starts with the balayage. It took a while to complete, but no big deal. I wasn't in a rush. After 2.5 hours, I was moved over to the bowl to rinse and add a toner. I sat at the shampoo bowl for 30 minutes with the toner on, washed, rinsed and went back to Leah's chair only to find one large highlight right in the front of my face - which I'm fine with if the rest was lightened, but this was the only highlight to pop out. It looks like I went for the Cruella DeVille effect​. Leah then starts to comb my hair and begin with the cut. WHAT? What about Luisa? Still no introduction or mention of Luisa. Leah skipped right over the fact that I had scheduled the cut with Luisa and took charge of the cut, but she literally only cut the base layer. She never one elevated my hair to create, or trim, my existing layers, and when I asked her about that she said if she cut layers into it, it would remove my hard-to-see balayage highlights. EXCEPT that is the point of a consultation... To figure out the end game and make it happen. She could have easily cut my hair or had Luisa cut my hair before adding the balayage, but instead I was left with a dusting on my ends and one highlight in the front. She knew I was not happy when leaving, and I went back and forth about leaving a review, but they asked me to - so I am. I waited a month to leave my review because I know that toners can fade after a few weeks and highlights will then pop out, so I wanted to give it some time and give Leah the benefit of the doubt. Well, in the last month the toner hasn't lightened, I still have one huge highlight right in the front, and the worst part is the damage she did to my hair with the high volume developer. I have severe breakage all around my face frame and the delicate "sideburn" hair is FRIED. The integrity of my hair was the least of her concerns. I was never asked, offered or had the opportunity to add Olaplex to my formula to save/repair my hair, or even a deep conditioning treatment afterward​. So with that being said, from other reviews maybe Leah is good at adding simple highlights and keeping blondes blonde, but if you have dark hair or really anything darker than a level 6, I wouldn't recommend Leah to be your lightening specialist. However, check someone else out there. I did see Luisa and Eric cut and style a few people while I was there for 3.5 hours (no joke, my appointment was at 9 am and when I walked out and got in my car it was 12:36pm), and it turned out great! So that's why I gave it two stars - I think I just got the wrong stylist. I wouldn't recommend going to Leah, but try someone else. read more

In NYC I was getting CHI Enviro American Smoothing Treatments That lasted for six months, had no from formaldehyde or dangerous chemicals and got rid of all the frizz from my shoulder length hair. I looked All over Florida to try to find a salon that had a formaldehyde free treatment to get rid of my phrase. Online I found Salon Resta's sweet shampoo for $150 and made an appointment with Carolina. The salon was clean, I parked right in front and Carolina was lovely. She spent about an hour and a half putting the chemical in my hair, rinsing it and drying it. It looked OK when I left and it's not as frizzy as it was, But it requires a lot more blow drying and styling. If I get caught in the rain I'm a frizzy mess. I won't go back because I'm still looking for the Chi Enviro Treatment and can't believe it's so hard to find in frizzy Florida. With the heat and humidity here there's got to be a better way to make my hair look sleek, shiny and silky without putting carcinogens on my head. read more
