Tried to place a curbside pickup order 3 days in a row. Every time i went to checkout my card was declined time and time again. I got on the phone with customer service as he said they would be able to resolve the issue in 24-48 hours??? When i finally got my payment to go through days later (never heard back from customer service) I placed the order for curbside and was not notified when my order was complete, didn't give me an option to add my parking spot so i called the store. After 4 different attempts at getting them on the phone someone finally answered and told me i had to come inside to pick it up? Why would i do that being i work an extremely busy schedule and do not have time to shop or go inside. The lady on the phone was extremely rude, and when i got inside i stood by the "pickup area" and was ignored for close to 5 minutes when someone finally approached me and started gathering my order scanning the items. This is after i walked into the store and not only did the 4 ulta employees standing by the door glare at me but i did not get greeted by anyone. This is the WORST online shopping turned to in store shopping i have ever experienced. EXTREMELY unprofessional, i will no longer be shopping at Ulta and until i receive a customer complaint response i will make sure everyone else knows this is absolutely not the place to shop. SMH Ulta employees! Sephora will be the only place i shop for supplies moving forward until I'm compensated or receive an apology. read more

I visited the store on 9/18 to receive service at their salon. The service I received by their stylist was nowhere near what I requested (I confirmed via showing the stylist a picture she was comfortable doing the color, she said yes). My hair was damaged in the process. The stylist didn't even wipe the dye out of my face, she was trying to rush me out and I had to request for wipes. I noticed also that some dye was left on my scalp (not the small residue after coloring, but think goopy dye from not washing properly). The stylist then confirmed she received training and was told the deep conditioning treatment she used on my hair was not supposed to be used as it was not good for hair. I was scheduled for a conditioning treatment on Saturday 9/25, which the stylist said I'd have to pay for, but then a manager said that was incorrect and the stuff the stylist had said about the treatment was also incorrect. I have an ongoing conversation with Guests Services that has gotten nowhere. I have been refused a refund for the services even though due to the damage THEY caused, I cannot get a re-do. I have spent money out of my own pocket trying to condition my hair back to life. This is beyond ridiculous. I've been extremely patient with them as they attempt to assist me but I can't get answers. *no test strand was done prior to bleaching or coloring. Stylist said I had Henna in my hair which I've never done. Do not recommend the Salon services at this location as it doesn't seem their stylists know what they're doing or they can't get their story straight. She kept mentioning how much it would cost (rude in and of itself) finally I said so basically you dont have time to fo anything. We left and we saw her walking out to her car and leacjng. Be aware.!!! Unless you're signed up for their loyalty program, you cannot return an item, period. No if's, and's or but's. I bought an item (a hair dryer) 6 days ago and tried to return it unopened/unused with my receipt-like I was told I could do. I was told that I was not allowed to return the item because I hadn't signed up for their loyalty program. This was not posted in the store nor stated on my receipt. I just don't know what is going on with this store. Since the covid shut down me and my daughter have been back a few times. Once in awhile you run into a helpful employee but most the time they would rather talk to each other in abandoned aisles or just disappear in general. They are also phasing out products but nobody seems to know why or have an idea if getting back in. Not sure I'll be hitting Platinum this year but they don't seem to be concerned about their faithful customers so oh well. All and all, we just get a sense of not caring at all. Okay- this review is long overdue! You know when you find something so amazing that you kind of want to keep it for yourself . Well... I'm from California originally- and the idea of finding a top shelf hair guru in Billings, MT seemed like it would be a challenge... so I opted to try the Ulta in town... kinda scary I'm super light blonde - oh yeah and I wear extensions!!! Tall order I prepared for the worst... well almost a year later and I'm still in love with my Guru!!!!! JYME... IS A GENIUS... tons of experience & super kind but such an amazing lady!!!!!! Went in there to get hair gel and the lady was so stuck on needing to find me in her system and not just move forward with the purchase, that we walked out without buying the hair gel. As we walk away, then she starts saying, I can get you rung up without finding you. Something she could have considered 10 minutes earlier and made it my option to ask her to keep looking me up. They need to learn customer service does not include FRUSTRATING the customer that is ready to buy stuff from them. Amazon is a great option for stores like this! read more

The ladies here are just down right rude. Whenever I go in, alone or with a friend, they always wandering around in groups of 2-3 and give some seriously judgemental looks. Whenever I try interacting with them, they either sigh or scoff as if I'm ruining their day just so I can find an item I need. They lack basic customer service, Ulta needs to update their employees. I've literally never been treated badly here. I walked into the store dressed like a homeless person recently (okay, not really "homeless", but I definitely didn't try to look nice), and was treated like royalty. I had plenty of money to buy makeup, but with how I was dressed, there's no way the gals there knew that. I'm not even sure I didn't wear the pants two days in a row that I was wearing, had my hair up in the ugliest ponytail in America, the makeup I fell asleep in the night before, and a hoodie...They still helped me find what I wanted, chatted me up, and were super helpful. I saw they have a bunch of bad reviews, and I dunno...maybe go in dressed like crap with wads of cash, and you'll get better service. Haha read more

The salon and brow bar are so wonderful. Sammy did a wonderful job on my unruly brows and explained the "Ulta" method very clearly and asked lots of questions to make sure that I went away happy. The store itself is an entirely different story. The staff aren't very well trained in their products and they don't offer personalized advice. They do have a generic but helpful advice for general beauty questions and are friendly. They don't carry a lot of the products I use, like Hourglass cosmetics, and they run out of promotional items very quickly. Ulta isn't the best, but it's probably the best in the area. read more

I had an employee (who seemed to be the manager) literally roll her eyes at me when I told the cashier I didn't want to sign up for the rewards program. She then was very curt when I had misread the price for an item. She wasn't even my cashier, just standing behind the cashier barely trying to train this new cashier. Overall I am very dissatisfied with her attitude and the fact that several employees were just standing around while the line for the one register grew. read more

My review isn't about the store necessarily. Although I do wanna point out the tea kept it very clean in the entire store is very organized. But the cashier ringing out today was wonderful. I apologize for not getting her name, but she made a point to warn me about my purchase of the eyeliner that I was getting. She had said that there were some that had not been working for people. Maybe a dry batch or some thing. But she allowed me to test it after I paid so that I could exchange it quickly. I've been to many Ulta stores, feeding my addiction, but none are as disappointing as the one in Billings, MT. Every time I've been in- which is at least a dozen times- the employees behavior has ranged from aloof to downright surly. I'm a platinum rewards member and it is customary in Ulta stores for the clerk to inform you how many rewards points you have- not once has this actually happened there. Nobody offers to help me either- which is cool with me as I prefer to shop in peace- but this store is such a contrast from every other Ulta I've visited that I've decided to either buy my products online or at an Ulta in Bozeman or Casper. read more

I have shopped at this store since they opened in Billings. I was in this store yesterday March 15, 2016 and there were more salespeople than customers. Two major issues I had here: 1.) All employees congregated at the back door which is right by the professional line of Biolage and Kenra products I was looking for. They were loud and obnoxious and I just really wanted to find my items and get out. 2.) There was a line of people waiting at the cashiers. Why? Especially when you have a handful of employees congregating in the back room! Where was the service here? Then once I finally get up there with my bag full of at least $150 (including a CHI flat iron), I told the clerk I had forgotten my coupon at home and requested she look up my account so she could honor the coupon. She said "the coupon has to be presented at the time of purchase." I requested she call a manager and she said the manager was busy. And she was rude about it so I cancelled my purchase and bought the flat iron online and the rest of my items at Sephora. What a horrible experience! I will never go back into this store and was reminded why I like shopping online, especially when treated this poorly. read more

If I could give less than 1 star I would. I went with my sister to get her hair touched up and went to a hairdresser by the name of Shy. Her appointment was at 6pm and wasn't seen until 45 min later and my sister left crying. She went in for 1 solid color and left with at least 3 different colors in her hair. Her hair should have been brunette but for some reason Shy gave her a backwards ombré. Blonde roots and dark ends. Worst part is she didn't even style her hair. She barely blow dried it and my poor sister left with wet hair. Yes she was extremely nice but definitely does not know what she's doing and lacked any confidence. My sister didn't even want to pay and they didn't offer any type of discount or refund. Now she has to go to another salon to fix Shy's mess. Would never recommend this place. read more

I had my first experience at Ulta today and met Grace. She was so helpful, very nice, and recommended products specifically for me and what style and type of coverage I like/needed. I was there for over an hour, and we just had fun trying different types of make up. She made me feel comfortable, wasn't pushy, and I was overall very impressed. The only reason I'm giving this one star is because the sales ladies did not ask if I needed help. I went to the high end makeup section wanting to purchase blush and eyeshadow. I wanted to try it on before buying and stood around waiting for the 4 sales ladies to help me. They constantly walked past me asking three other ladies if they needed help that came in after me. Being a person of color I felt judged because of this. I have been to the Ulta in Cheyenne and Casper, WY and Ft. Collins, CO and they were extremely friendly and helpful. I had an appointment for a cut & style with Michelle, the salon manager. Unbelievably unprofessional! She was 10 minutes late (the manager), said she knew how to cut fine hair, didn't. Was the worst hair cut, if you can call it a cut, more of a trim that I have ever had. One side is an inch longer than the other. Then blew hair dry, no flat iron or curling iron, where does the "style" part come in??, and had the audacity to over charge me. Said it was her price,$46, when I was told it was $36. I don't mind paying for a good cut, but this was and is ridiculous. I knew I should have listened to my inner voice, when it said "RUN!!!" So I never use to have a problem with them until recently. I use to get my brows waxed there, and yes I'm under 18, but no one ever told me when I went there asked my age. Only was I ever asked twice. The first time I was told to sign a consent form and my dad was there too, to sign. She said oh yeah it's a one time thing and you're here in the system. Won't have to do it again. I'm like okay sweet! I go in multiple more times and then came the day I realized when they quite literally don't have their shit together. This one young woman, right out of college was asking me all types of questions and everything. Then she popped the "are you 18?" question. I said no, and she continued, honestly in my opinion, very rudely to say how she can't wax my brows and it was state law that she can't wax a minors brows. I was like okay? I'll just leave. Me and my friend go to the checkout to pay for her stuff and I ask the manager what was up with the situation. Said the same thing blah blah blah. She had to ask her employee, fresh out of college, the rules of waxing. Why are you the manager if you have to ask a regular employee? Clearly they have problems following the law with wax underaged girls without written consent from them and their parents. This shouldn't be a problem at. I know it's Montana state law about waxing minors and can't ask the age over the phone I got that. But if they're having this much of a problem. They need to be shut down. ‍‍ read more

They're constantly getting new things but sometimes when they run out of something, it takes forever to get it back in stock. Sometimes. I went for an appointment on a Saturday morning at 10:00. After waiting for a few minutes someone asked if they could help me. I told them I was there for a 10:00 hair cut with Angela. They said she should be there shortly. After waiting an additional 15 minutes I finally found someone else and told them I had a 10:00 appointment. This person called Angela only to be told that she over slept and would not be in until 12:00 noon. I was told I could come back then to have my hair cut. I agreed and left. As I was having a cup of coffee I received a phone call from Angela saying she could only do my hair at 6:00 that day. I told her that would not work! She replied okay and that ended the conversation. I went back to Ulta to find out what was going on. The only thing they offered me was "I'm sorry". I could either come at 6:00 that day or another day that was convenient for them! Unfortunately, I left and drove home with no hair cut. The sad part is I waited for several days to get this appointment when I could have used the hairstylist I have been using for a some time, but I wanted to try something different. I would not recommend Angela unless you have a lot of time to waste and don't mind being treated as if your time doesn't matter. read more

Don't think I'll use the salon again, as today was the last straw of sorts. My stepdaughter had an appointment at 1 for a cut and color. We showed up early, around 12.30. There was only one person in the salon working and she did not say anything to us. No hello, no nod, nothing. A couple employees came up from the front to help us and one said she'd go find our stylist while the other said "I don't think she's here". At first I took that to mean she wasn't in YET but the first girl came back and said she was sorry but our stylist apparently wasn't there. She had not shown up to work. They said they'd called her that morning but she hadn't shown up. Now they were both nice and clearly felt bad but the fact that she'd apparently been late enough they had to call her, yet didn't call us to cancel is pretty unacceptable. Not to mention any other appointments she had today. We initially rescheduled but I was able to get an appointment elsewhere. I gave three stars because the staff there ARE very nice, but I feel that their customer service today was really lacking. read more
