This locations manager is incredibly rude. In multiple interactions he tells people he can not help them, he rolls his eyes, and makes faces constantly. The elderly woman in front of me was trying to complete an online order and he said he could not help her. I understand retail work is tough and people are rude sometimes but, all the interactions I've seen the customers were being very nice. He just has a bad attitude does not want to help and appears as if he does not want to be there. I decided to take my wife on a little shopping spree, the first place that popped in my head was Ulta, because she is I love with make up. She decided to get hair done and purchase a few things, which was really nice. The perfect reason I dislike coming into Ulta stores. I was standing in line, as there was only one customer in front of me and 3-4 behind me. I had my son with me and told him to stay in the line because I was just grabbing a product off the front display right by the counter and the cashier looked at me and finished assisting the customer. I got back in line and once she finished she went off to the side to talk to manager. I waited a few more minutes, and she still didn't come to assist me. I then walked off to a different line, as soon as I did that she helped the customer that was behind me. I had to wait another 10 minutes in the line because I assume she didn't want to assist me. I had been given a sample of clinique intense surge 72H and it made my hands baby soft so I wanted to try this as my next face moisturizer. This time I came on a monday evening to grab some important items and complete a return. The customer service - the employees are the best! Everytime I come in they helpfully ask if I need anything. However, today I recieved beyond excellent customer service from Jena and Asma. My return was complicated and they not only listened empathetically but helped me find a good solution with kindness and efficiency. Because of them I will definitely be back to this store. The location is relatively convenient at the factoria mall with ample free parking space (though on weekends it can get full so expect to wait or walk). The store itself is very bright, open and well organized. It can be a bit overwhelming with so many products if you don't know what brand or product you are looking for so I might recommend looking online first or asking an associate for help. They have great selections of most things and the ulta line is both economical and functional as well. The only reason they get 4 stars is that there are a few items not labeled and many items out of stock. The price of most items sold are comparable to department stores or online and they often have sales and coupons not to mention birthday gifts! I brought my grandma in for a Signature Haircut with Hayley and she did an absolutely STUNNING job. My grandma had photos of the haircut she wanted and Hayley managed expectations on what was doable with her type of hair. She was so thorough, sweet and very laidback easy to talk to. My grandma doesn't speak English and Hayley was very patient as I translated and took the time to check in with us throughout the process to make sure my grandma was getting exactly what she wanted. My grandma's favorite part was the shampoo and she loved her cut so much that she asked to take a picture with Hayley so she could show her friends. Well I feel good about my purchases, it's my wife's bday tomorrow. It was all or nothing As I walked into Ulta factoria location. I had low expectations for my gift getting capabilities at a women's make up and perfume store. My fears had come true... yet again, 24 hours before my wife's birthday, I am now shopping for gifts. I had a horrible experience about a month or so back. I try not visit this store because of the lack of customer service. My boyfriend and I were shopping around and I've been wanting to try the Chanel foundation. There was no one to do a sample for me so I saw the testers and I did them myself. While I was doing this, the lady who I assume works that section comes up to my boyfriend and asks if he doing ok. He replies yes. She then comes to me and asks me in the most rude way, "What are you doing?!!!" I had said, "I'm creating a sample for myself since no one else will help me." She then get mad at me and tells me, "Well I'm supposed to do that. I need to write down which one it was." I say, "Okay..." While she was doing this I got her name (Tee) and I had let her know that I didn't appreciate the way she spoke to me. Later, I got checked out by a assistant manager, Lisa. Who was the sweetest and she did ease what had happened. She kept trying reassure me to come back and had said she would speak to her. But I let her know that it just put a bad taste in my mouth about the place. I'm not sure if I was racially profiled or stereotyped or what had happened but it still sucks that the professionalism lacked from this associate. I understand the amount of products that get stolen from this place. I mean I work in customer service myself, I know first hand. Probably the worst retail experience I have ever had. I have never written a review before but felt compelled to do so after such an awful experience. I made an appointment at 12ish for 4:40 PM the same day for a brow lamination. When I arrived, The associates at the register informed me that the woman who was supposed to do my brows had called in sick. "Didn't they call you?" (I mean, no, if they had called, I would not be standing there) They questioned if I even had an appointment, and I had to provide screenshots and texts to prove that, indeed, I booked it. One of the associates went to see if someone else could do it. They ushered me back to the salon. I assume I was talking to the salon manager, who said the same thing. No one there could do my brow lamination. I said, "ok, well, I just drove 40 minutes in the pouring rain to this appointment, and no one called me to let me know that she was not here today," She said she was sorry, but there was nothing she could do. Finally, she said she could offer me 50% off a brow lamination for Wednesday, the day before Thanksgiving, or Friday (Black Friday.) I told her neither would work for me but that I could come the following week. She said that the woman who does the brow lamination would be transferring to a different salon after Friday. So I said, "ok, well, can I get a gift card for 50% of my service so I can get it done in Issaquah or another Ulta?" She had to call the General Manager over. The manager came over. Her name is Jen. She said her associate had told her about the issue and wanted to know what I wanted her to do about it. She said, "WHAT IS THE BOTTOM LINE? WHAT DO YOU WANT OUT OF THIS?" I explained that I had just driven 40 minutes from North Bend in the pouring rain at 4 PM for no reason, as no one had called me to tell me that the appointment had been canceled, and I wanted her to make it right. She said, "I LIVE IN NORTH BEND, AND IT DOES NOT TAKE THAT LONG TO GET HERE." I was stunned; first, does she know where I live? No, she does not. Did she realize it was raining so hard that I could barely see while driving? Did she know that it was 4 PM and there was traffic? So she is essentially calling me a liar. She said that I was "obviously belligerent" and was unaccepting of the resolutions presented to me. I was in NO WAY belligerent. I was frustrated and angry, but I was not spewing obscenities; although I wanted to, I did not. I said that the two options that the associate presented would not work for me. I said I could come in next week, and she said the woman was transferring salons. I asked if there was going to be someone to replace her, and she said, "NO, YOU NEED A LICENSE TO DO BROW LAMINATIONS, AND PEOPLE OFF THE STREET CANNOT DO THEM." Again, I was stunned. Obviously, people off the street can't do them. I asked her why she was being so sarcastic. She said she was not being sarcastic at all. Hmmm. Do you talk to all customers like this? I told her I wanted a gift card for 50% off my service to a different Ulta salon. She said, "no, I can't do that." Finally, she said, "WHAT DO YOU WANT, A TWENTY SPOT FOR YOUR GAS?" I said, "yes." She said, "ARE YOU SERIOUS?" I said, "yes." She said, "YOU REALLY WANT TO ME GO INTO MY PURSE AND GIVE YOU A TWENTY FROM MY OWN MONEY?" I said, "yes," so she stomped into the backroom, but on the way back, either she or the associate yelled, "WOW, SHE IS SO GREEDY!" I was stunned again, but I just stood there for 6 mins documenting all of this on my phone. I wish I could have recorded the whole thing. It would have gone viral... She finally returned, handed me the "TWENTY SPOT," and said, "HAPPY THANKSGIVING." I turned around and walked out. I will NEVER walk into that store again. It is hard to believe she has a job, let alone a management job. They must be really desperate for help. I immediately got in my car and called customer service to discuss my experience. I also texted customer service. A week later, the district manager called me to find out what had happened. I told her the whole story. She was wonderful and is the only reason I would even consider shopping at Ulta again. read more

They had some items that bare minerals makes that I'd never seen before and I had some questions. However there wasn't an employee to be had other than ONE person that was applying makeup to another customer. I wandered around for about 5 minutes looking for someone. All of a sudden out of nowhere there's an employee. I asked her my question and she said she wasn't sure and would call someone over that had the product knowledge. (She said something into an ear piece) I continued to wander around for another 5 minutes all the while this employee followed me around. I finally gave up and decided to buy a bundle just because it was $20 cheaper than I could get it at bare minerals. I stood by the cash register for 6 minutes waiting for someone to come and ring me up all the while said employee watched me. I paid for my purchase and left. I went to bare minerals at the big mall and purchased another $75 worth of product there. The same $ that this store would have gotten had anyone taken the time to answer my question and not just followed me making me feel like I'd done something wrong. Had my eyebrows waxed by Kat. She is just a gem! Everything is sanitized before + after your appointment . She has necessary PPE on. She's sanitizing & disinfecting everything during your appointment too. The appointment itself was very professional. Asked you preliminary questions like if you were on any retinoids, allergies, etc. She mapped my brows to make sure I liked it and explained what she was going to do & why. Ulta beauty has a good selection of products. It's in the Factoria mall, so there is enough free parking. They have testers for almost all products, and so you can try anything on your own and figure out what looks best. I don't think the people there know what works best based on one's skin type. They will just give you information based on what's written on the package/bottle. So if you want to buy a new product, research before hand and then try it out there yourself. Also, they have a very good return policy. So in case you don't like what you bought, you can return it easily. (Obviously it should only be used once) read more

Terrible customer service! I had an appointment at the Benefits counter and was 11 min late (which I understand is an inconvenience). Although there was no mention of the "late policy" when I booked my appointment I totally understand if this is something they need to enforce. The issue is that the employee and store manager I interacted with were both incredibly condescending and kept mentioning that I didn't "respect their time". There is a respectful way to tell a customer about a late policy and this was certainly not it! Holy shit, there's so much products here. Make up, hair, skin care, anything beauty related. What's cool is that they carry a wide range from lower to higher end stuff so you'll find something that fits your budget here. Even though they carry some brands of make up that I like here like Urban Decay, I'm still too loyal to Sephora to shop here for make up. I recommend my clients to come here all the time if we don't carry a certain product at my salon since I trust that they will sell them better quality stuff than the drugstore. I wish I could give a negative rating. The "manager" Chelsea at this location is beyond unprofessional and seems to take joy in being rude to customers and humiliating them. The first encounter I had with Chelsea was an exchange for shampoo. The previous day an associate had helped me find the Joico sulfate free purple shampoo for blonde hair. If you tone your hair, you know that purple shampoo is very specific for toning bleached hair and you can't really confuse the product with a regular shampoo. Well the associate gave me the wrong shampoo even though she helped me pick it out for 5 or so minutes even verifying with another associate that it was correct. I had purchased the shampoo thinking I could trust 2 employees who should know the product better than me (wrong). When I tried to exchange it the next day, Chelsea was beyond rude to me. She didn't want to let me exchange it at all, and because of her intensely put out attitude I felt the need to defend myself and tell her that I trusted her associate to give me the right shampoo and she didn't. That pissed her off I guess. Her mouth dropped open and she scoffed so loud at me, proceeding to throw my shampoo in a plastic bin loudly behind her. She did the exchange without a single word and turned her back on me and walked away. The second time she was rude to me was 2 days ago when a friend and I went to buy a ton of makeup. We definitely should have went to Sephora. A nice associate was ringing up our makeup and the "manager" was at the register next to ours ringing up other guests. Our makeup was ringing up to about $250, a generous purchase that a manager should be happy about. Before our transaction was done I remembered that Ulta rewards is actually suppose to do something so I asked our cashier if she could see if I had points to use. I was slightly irritated at the fact that they ask for your phone number religiously but never ask if you want to use your points, so they end up expiring. I had $17 off. I told her I was kinda shocked that the many many times I have come into Ulta nobody has ever asked if I want to use my points. She quickly apologized to me and before I could finish my responsw at all the manager cut me off and said "yeah well you get a pamphlet when you sign up so you should know". I felt really humiliated in front of the huge line of people she was ringing up. It really bothered me for like 2 hours after the encounter. Her face had a very nasty look on it. As someone who has worked in retail for years, I can say she has TERRIBLE customer service skills. I don't know what the hell is going through her head when she talks to customers. Even when they're making a huge purchase. Totally ungrateful. I will never go back there again and I'm cancelling my Ulta rewards. So low class compared to Sephora anyways especially with the trashy manager. Someone call her district manager and get her fired. She doesn't deserve the position. read more

Stacia at the ULTA salon is nothing short of amazing. Back in September, she took my hair (which had suffered greatly at the hands of a rogue box dye) from meh to marvelous in a single appointment. She then recommended a regular regimen of color, cut, and conditioning that I stick to religiously, and my hair is longer and stronger than ever. Stacia really knows what she's doing. Even more than that, she's one of the nicest, most grounded people you'll ever meet, but then that's the trend at this ULTA salon. Stephanie does AMAZING skincare and makeup. And Jessica, their scheduler, is always positive. I wish I could remember everyone's name so I could give them all kudos. I really can't say enough good things about the team. read more

Now that I've had time to calm down and collect my thoughts.. this poor poor poor review is in regards to the middle aged blonde haired manager (I believe her name is Chelsea because that's what was printed on my return receipt, however i may be wrong) but wait there's more.. AND! a younger Asian sales associate with flat black hair. Anyway, it was a gloomy Friday night and my bf and I had nothing to do, so I convinced him to accompany me on my trip to ulta so I could take advantage of the 20% off coupon they had. I typically only ever go to the ulta in Tukwila and Renton but I was on he hunt for a product that neither store had, so I made the decision to make the drive to factoria. I get to the store and was greeted upon entering, which is nice but boy oh boy was I mislead. Before I wanted to scan the aisles and see if they carried my product I wanted to return 2 pairs of lashes I had bought and ended up not liking.. so I'm in line patiently waiting to be helped and the blonde haired manager, who may I add, instantly had an irritated and annoyed voice asked if i needed to be helped, of course I said yes and stated I had a return. At first, she shut me off and said the cashier next to her was almost done and she would help me but I guess she changed her mind and decided to help me herself, and this is where it gets RIDICULOUS! She looks at my receipt and says, "oh so you buy your things at Renton and you just come here to return them?" and before I could even respond she adds, "well, WE don't like it when you do that, if you're going to buy something at Renton don't come here to return it, return it at Renton." I looked at my bf and was just speechless, never in my life have I ever been talked to like this! especially from someone who is unfortunately the manager! and if that's not bad, the young Asian associate next to her chimed in and said, "yeah, don't come here to return your things cause we don't like that, return everything you buy at Renton." At this point, I am so angry and upset that once we finished the transaction, I walked out the store. I didn't even care if they had the product I've been on the hunt for, I did not want to be in such a nasty, unwelcoming, hostile environment. I LOVE ulta, but man, I am NEVER coming back to this location ever! WORST COSTUMER SERVICE IVE EVER EXPERIENCED. I have NEVER had a problem returning anything at the Tukwila and Renton location, which is why I love going there.
