How are you supposed to shop, smell and buy cologne if you can't smell the product . I went in to smell the Sauvage to possibly buy for my husband but they didn't have a tester for me to smell. Shout out to Heather who was fantastic when I went in. I was there to pick-up some Madison Reed hair color I'd purchased online. As a gal ready to upgrade her hair products writ large, I asked her about shampoo and conditioning. She gave me a ton of helpful tips on hair care that I did not know, and made some great product recommendations also. I have always had great customer service and useful help when shopping at the Bangor store.

This place runs off of fake advertising. I have fallen for it not once or twice, but THREE times thinking there's no way a business is allowed to put up printed advertisement for free items they don't intend to actually have. I really thought the first couple of times it happened they were having bad luck with inventory and not able to give me my free item advertised. This last time I was in first thing in the morning. Purchased $70 in Redken product to receive a free full size Redken leave in conditioner bottle as the multiple printer signs said all over the Redken section. After paying for my items I questioned where my free product was (as I always have to because they never seem to have anything tell them on their screen that it was printed and posted. Another hint of false advertisement) and she did the usual "oh yeah we don't have that" and I got a cheap NYX sample size of blue mascara instead. Wtf. Stay away from this business. The one in Portland is way better and honors its advertisements. read more

Well, I have always been happy to take my Grand daughter in for all her needs. On Sunday we went in and during checkout I was asked if I wanted to apply for a charge card. They said I could save $30,00 off my total. That sounded fine so I did the paperwork and then the girl says the finance company will have to get in touch with me. I have a great credit rating and was pissed as this I believe was a scam to get me to apply and they have all my info. So don't apply there unless you want to get lots of junk mail and nothing to show for your trouble. read more

Really really bad customer service.. The last time I was in there I received no help what so ever.. I would understand if the store was understaffed but it was not.. Three customers besides myself ... I use to work in a store similar to Ultra and I would not ignore anyone it's just downright rude and obnoxious.. My thoughts are treat how you expect to be treated... I feel like the employees that work for Ulta Beauty should have a little more training in how to treat customers from the time they enter to the time they approach the register!! Nathan at the Benefit Brow Bar If I could give a lower rating, I would. Absolutely terrible. I've had 5 appointments with Nathan & he only kept two. The only consistency between those two appointments was his nonstop talking & not paying attention to what he was doing. The first time he did my brows, he mapped my brows & did a decent job with a small divot in the top edge of my left brow that he hid with brow pencil. Yesterday, however, OMG!!!! My brows look so awful. The left one is an absolute disaster. It's completely wonky. It's thinner, longer & has a MAJOR divot in the top edge while the other looks pretty normal. He knew he messed up & tried to explain it away by telling me my right brow is just darker than the left. I knew he messed up when he showed me a strip that had far more hairs on it than it should have. When I mentioned it he said, "You just have a lot of tiny hairs on your forehead that aren't part of your eyebrow." WHAT?!? Like I would believe that there were thick, black hairs on my forehead that I just never noticed before. I did what I could to fix them when I got home, but there's no saving them. I'm an esthetician & makeup artist that has done my own brows for many, many years. Looks like I'm going to continue doing them myself. Complete disaster. I can't believe these are my eyebrows until they grow back. Book someone at a different salon. Do them yourself. Do anything else!! read more

I wish I could give this store 0 stars. I encountered 3 employees while I was here on the weekend. 2 were beyond rude and 1 was incompetent. This store should consider hiring qualified employees and perhaps sending the ones they already have to a customer service bootcamp. I cannot see myself ever returning to this location, especially when Sephora is across the street and I received amazing service there after the beyond horrible experience I had at Ulta. read more

Whenever I go to Ulta, I walk in and am greeted by happy and welcoming employees. Today, my brother and I were there. We only had about $20 if that. So we picked out three reasonably priced items. Unfortunately, we did not have enough money. There was one lady behind us, she ended up purchasing the thing we couldn't buy. The ladies who were checking us out almost cried. This is a review for the Salon at Ulta. I had my hair dyed a silver blonde by the salon manager at the end of November. I left super happy with a gorgeous color, although a little surprised at the cost ($170) most salons charge $100-$120. It was a demi-silver blonde, the color was supposed to last me a couple months but instead washed out within a week and left me with bleach and roots. Awful customer service- rarely greeted by employees, and I was treated like an inconvenience to the cashier at my last (and really last) visit when I wanted to apply rewards points. I haven't always had great experiences at this store, but I will not be going back. Frustrating seeing as I am a platinum rewards member. Every time I go into Ulta the employees without fail do their best to exhume an "I'm better than you" attitude. I get the side eye, bitchy looks and sarcastic "may help you's?" The whole atmosphere is negative and I get the feeling that the employees are hired based on their looks, not their knowledge of products and customer service. For example I came in to get a recommendation for a foundation that would work for oily skin and had full coverage the employee recommended bareminerals hydrating gel cream foundation which number one is a sheer coverage and number two has a dewy finish. She literally just picked up the nearest foundation and said here you go. On top of this they don't make samples. I am astounded at the consistent poor customer service and prejudice coming from employees. I am seriously considering writing a letter to their corporate office to bring this situation attention. No one else should have to experience such a poor experience trying to shop for cosmetics. read more
