where do I begin!? my birthday spa day experience was everything that I could've hoped for. 5 years…read morecoming. 5 hours of service. 55th Birthday loading. my universe aligned for this very moment. started with a massage by Dain. those arm and leg pulls were everything! I have a neck sensitivity and he had me so relaxed that I didn't flinch once! he even massaged my ears! that was a pleasant surprise. I would've expected that during the facial, if at all. massage was followed by a facial by Markiah. she throughly cleansed my face and offered some products to use for my skin type. then she massaged, moisturized, and gave my hands a heat treatment. that was yet another unexpected surprise. after each service i was greeted with some water by my attendants waiting outside the rooms. everything was so clean and organized. Ciara had set aside an hour for me to enjoy lunch. I requested sushi (my favorite). it was ordered and delivered to the spa. Ciara set me up comfortably in the serenity room. I enjoyed my meal in a peaceful environment while reading and reflecting. after lunch I had a manicure and pedicure by Nila. she song happy birthday to me in Phillipino and gave me her Nutty Buddy ice cream cone to enjoy during my pedicure. it was a very nostalgic moment for me. growing up in the 70s, eating one of my memorable childhood treats. the salt scrub, paraffin wax, and hot towels added to the experience. the restrooms were clean. the locker room was very inviting. offering showers, toiletries, robes, and slides/shoes. like real shoes! lol. I didn't explore the whole facility but saw various products display areas. I mostly floated from room to room. lol. and at the end of my services. (I could've hung out til closing. they have blankets and pillows on the couches in the serenity room.) Ciara gave me a gift bag (I can't wait to open it). it made me realize the importance of taking the time for self care and I plan to make a spa visit part of a monthly ritual. the facility is BEAUTIFULLY decorated and inviting. if I was to have one "con" it would be the inner rooms decor. its basically bed or chair and service supplies. some plants, stones, or something of that nature would've definitely added to the inviting environment. but thats something very slight as 99% of the times your eyes are closed!!! lol. She was very friendly and professional. All the staff there also seemed very friendly and helpful. One was holding a customer's baby while the mom was getting her hair done. The aesthetics were pleasing and soothing, with a smell of flowers and eucalyptus.

I understand everyone has to start somewhere but I had a sudden health crisis a year ago that resulted in major hair loss. I was subsequently deeply concerned about a neophyte coloring and trimming my hair. I emailed them my regular stylist's "recipe" and Naomi was an absolute master at her craft. She did an incredible job and was very much a subject matter expert as to what I could do to protect my hair that was coming back in and asses how much new growth I had given it was all uneven. I am strictly team Aveda for years and years but often the sacrifice is the personality of the stylist and although I'm fine with silence, Naomi was the absolute coolest and a complete delight. Do hair and your psyche a favor and schedule an appointment with Naomi, you're worth it and so is the experience.

She color matched my extensions exactly to my hair color and did exactly what I wanted her to do with my hair and it turned out absolutely beautiful! They also have a skin expert that can do wonders with your face, treating it for age and skin problems. In this way, Sport Clips is definitely different from most places in the area as they try to make a haircut a relaxing experience as opposed to just a utility visit. Keep in mind I've lived in NYC for 6 years, so I've seen a lot in the way of barber shops that go the extra mile (free whiskey or beer, massage, DJs, etc.) Anyway back to Sport Clips - I got the "MVP" package, which was great (definitely worth whatever it costs). This includes a cut, shampoo *after* the cut (which means no shedding for the rest of the day!) and a hot towel / quick shoulder rub. The cut itself was great - Ashley did a phenomenal job, nailing exactly what I asked for and was conversational throughout (without getting annoyed at me for talking about NYC this and NYC that the whole time). All in all, I highly recommend Sport Clips for a quality cut at a great price. There isn't really anything else in the area that compares (for men).

The website clearly states walk-ins are welcome. I didn't even set 1 foot in the door before they turned my business away. It's pretty frustrating given that I have a business meeting tomorrow morning. Why are you open till seven yet, you close at 6:20 PM? I would understand if there was a long list of customers waiting. Not. Lazy
