This Ulta Beauty was nice and organized when I first visited on 11/21/2023. I was originally there just for an order pickup, but I couldn't help myself with their cute holiday displays and good deals. Their perfume & cologne section is considerably better than most Ultas I have personally been to. At the register was two of the nicest ladies I'd ever encountered working at an Ulta. And although the line was fairly long, they moved it along in under 5 minutes. The storefront can be seen as you drive into the northeast side of the Mall of Abilene. I left the salon feeling sick to my stomach! am so upset with the results of my root touch up because it ended up changing the entire color of my hair! Now I am out the money & with a new hair color when all I wanted to do was maintain the color and I made that very clear. Background: A few weeks prior I had my hair professionally bleached to this gorgeous bright solid shade of blonde. With the intention of maintaining the color as my roots grew out I would get them done to match the rest of my hair. Simple right? Unfortunately the initial stylist who did my hair the first time no longer is with the company. So I put my trust in another Ulta stylist as I believed this was pretty basic and all of the stylists should be presumably qualified. And well you can see the results yourself. Completely different color. I expressed my dissatisfaction multiple times. She really didn't address my concerns and attempt to make it right. She told me that if I made another appointment 2 months out she would be able to get me to my original color that I came in with that she darkened? I explained to her that I already did the bleach wash weeks prior and my hair is a solid color and I was happy with the current color I came in with all I wanted to do was my roots but somehow have a new brown hair color? And on top of that I paid for the service and a color I don't want! And now I am going to have to go through a whole bleach wash process again to get back where I was weeks ago! I am literally spending so much money to fix something that wasn't even my mistake! I put my trust into Ulta to literally do my roots and ended up with brown hair and back to square one to get my hair back to the blonde I had prior to this appointment. Did an online order at Ulta in Abilene Tx last week. [[HIGHLIGHT]]discovered I had ordered the wrong color of foundation and thought I would be able to do an even exchange.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] But no I paid $28 with tax on the product they wanted to charge me $56 regular price, the item wasn't used. Terrible experience at the salon! They don't know how to do a curly cut. I didn't get what I requested.

I left a review two weeks ago about the 150.00 conditioning treatment that made my hair much worse. started knotting up and no matter how gentle I was with my fingers to loosen the knot my hair would just break off in my hands. I've lost all the length of my hair and it wasn't like that before that particular treatment. spoke to another hairdresser about it and she said that if that conditioning treatment had to much protein or keratin in it, it would make my hair worse. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Anyway I damn sure haven't received a message from anyone at Ulta. No apology , no refund for ruining my hair nor a store credit.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I mean nothing. Absolute trash. My wife was trying to get her makeup done "professionally" for a costume party. She gave 5 different pictures of what she wanted it to look like. The artist fought her on every aspect then completely disregarded her requests. She took way longer than was advertised, we were late because she had to redo everything herself. Salon review: I had a haircut, color and facial at this Ulta and they were amazing! Let me start by saying that if I hadn't had these services here this Ulta would get a One Star - the retail workers are either rude or un knowledgeable, products are limited and the store is always disheveled. Hair cut with Kay- she truly wanted to make me happy. I have never had a stylist who was more professional or caring. She always asked if I liked my cut or if I had any pictures or ideas of what I wanted. She was spot on when I described what I wanted. Facial with Kaitlin - a facial in a pod in the middle of the store??? Yeah, I was taken aback at first but all I can say is WOW!! Kaitlin was so caring and she explained what she was doing and I could really tell she knew what she was doing. She answered all my questions and didn't pressure me to buy products I didn't need. She suggested what would work for MY skin and she was so on point. Loved her recommendations and can't wait to go back. These gems are the ONLY reason I go to this sad Ulta. read more

Went to ulta today to buy new foundation. The girl who helped me color match was awesome. Got to check out. the girl who is checking me out goes to the stash of free gifts but then comes back empty handed and says nothing. I remembered seeing online that this foundation came with a free gift. I asked her about it and she just said "yea but we don't have it". Ok cool, were you just going to hope I didn't ask? I said ok can a get a voucher or one of the other free gifts they had, she asked the person who appeared to be a manager and I could hear her say "just tell her we don't have anything". This person makes 0 eye contact. I normally love getting the free gift as its normally an opportunity for me to try a new product that I would come back to buy.... Guess marketing doesn't make sense to these girls. Or customer service. read more

I am very impressed! I was able to get an appointment the day of to fix my rough, coppery bleached hair. Jessica was purely terrific. She explained in detail how she planned to fix it and talked me through the coloring process. She regularly asked if I was comfortable or wanted any water. I had an appointment for brows and haircut. I had several problems with their appointment app. So when I FINALLY got scheduled I was happy! I should not have been. I had to reschedule my brow appointment. When I show up to get my haircut they told me I had no appointments. The system did not cancel my brow appointment so they just ASSUMED I would not be there for my haircut. It's TWO appointments, not one. If your system worked properly there wouldn't be an issue. You don't cancel an appointment with ULTA when the Benefit appointment was missed. I'm beyond pissed. I got there at my appointment time and was told they WOULD NOT help me. read more

Now don't get me wrong she was a very sweet stylists, but somebody who supposedly has years of experience didn't produce what they were putting out. I went in for a perm, and ended up paying extra fees that were not on their website, which is quite misleading when you come in expecting to pay one price then having to pay a leg and arm for something that btw didn't come out right. I wanted a corkscrew perm but ended up with curls I could have done with braids. Here is the kicker though with braids at least I would not have a random straight piece of hair in the mix of supposedly "corkscrew" curls. If I could give these ladies 6 stars I would!! First of all my stylist Isabela was so sweet and gave me the exact cut I was looking for! I forget the stylists name who had my friend, but she did an incredible job on her as well, being that she's very protective over the length of her hair and was nervous about getting bangs she gave her the perfect cut and she had nothing but good things to say! Not only were the services fantastic, but the personal experience was too. I brought my month and a half old son with me, who is usually sleeping all afternoon, but today he wanted to switch it up lol. She worked so well around me having to get up and hold him every once in a while when he'd start to get a little fussy, and having to stop to go feed him midway through the service. She was an absolute angel throughout the whole process, just what this new momma needed. I feel fantastic inside and out! Thank you ladies, we will absolutely be back!! read more

great service, however availability of new make up launches of your favorite high end make up lines is very poor. They have not really any stock in the urban decay lipliner or eyeliner section. Im not sure what the deal is with these place but they dont have enough inventory. This is a hair salon review. I booked my appt online for a hair cut. The pricing for the each stylists is different. I picked one stylist that was more in cost (thinking more experience). I believe I paid around 60.00 for my haircut and I HATED it. It was not at all what I wanted. I came in with a picture of a swing bob...shorter in back longer in front. I left with an extremely shorter bob all one length. I told her several times after she was finished that I felt like it didn't look like the picture and that I wanted more of a swing. She cut even more off the length but never fixed the swing. I said something again after she asked if I liked it and I was told that the swing was dramatic and noticeable. Another employee even stated there was a noticeable swing. I thought maybe I could be wrong bc seeing the back of hair is hard some times. So paid and left. Once I got home my hair was all one length just like I thought. It reminded me of Jackie off of Roseanne. Super short bob all one length. I ended up having to go to another salon and get even more cut off to make it more my style. My hair ended up being super short and I paid o well over 100.00 once it was all said and done. I will never go back there. Way overpriced for a cut in the first place and they do not listen and lie just to get you out of their chair. I made an appointment for color and cut, and specifically asked for someone with experience because my hair doesn't go blonde easily (although my previous stylist in Phoenix had no trouble). The woman on the phone booked me with Naomi, but when I arrived, Naomi told me she was doing training in the back and that Priscilla would do it instead. You're too busy to honor this appointment? Strike one. I told her about my situation and she said she trusted Priscilla but would help her with the consultation. So you trust her, but you think she needs help? Strike two. I felt like I was a volunteer at a cosmetology school, except I wasn't getting a discount. Priscilla had no idea what she was doing! Strike... Ugh, who's counting anymore? She kept leaving to answer the phone and do other stuff with bleach in only half of my hair. Then she didn't put a cap on it and let it sit there drying out and turning into what felt like drywall for an hour and a half! She then tries to fix it by putting some crap on it and making me sit under the heater. When it was over, it was this horrible zebra stripe pattern in macaroni-and-cheese orange and (wait for it...) purple! I had her tone it again and now it's this horrible yellow-orange color and feels like straw. I left before she could blow dry it (she started to dry it without even parting it as it was soaking wet and matted to my head. Who does that?) and I wasn't going to let her come at me with scissors! Three hours of my life gone and horrible hair! I have some repair oil in it now and I'll leave it in over night. She charged me $73 for it, and I tried not to laugh when they asked me if I wanted to leave a tip. I'll leave my tip on Yelp instead: Stay away from Naomi and Priscilla!!!! read more

I can not stress this enough...DO NOT GET YOUR HAIR COLORED HERE! All I wanted was my roots colored to match my platinum blonde hair. I even went there a week before my appointment to make sure I had the best stylist that was educated on blonde hair. They explained the price would increase because I was getting the best most experienced certified blonde stylist but price is no object when you have blonde hair. The day of my appointment everything is going well she bleached and lightened my roots and then applied THE TONER. As she's applying my toner she explains it's a grey toner and she's never used it before. RED FLAGS! Why are you putting a GRAY toner on my platinum hair and why is a person so experienced in blonde hair never used this product. In all the years of getting my hair colored this exact color no one has ever put anything but a purple toner. I instantly knew this was about to go downhill. As she's drying my hair I look in the mirror and freak out I now had PURPLE AND DARK GRAY HAIR. She insisted I was crazy and to let her finish but it was obviously not my platinum beautiful hair. I pleaded with her to fix it but all she did was try to wash the toner out and make up excuses. However the damage was done. The WORST part was she wouldn't just admit she messed up my hair she kept insisting my hair was white blonde. She needs to find another profession if she thinks dark gray hair is white. She made excuses that my hair just wouldn't lighten...well my hair was platinum blonde when I arrived there 4 hours earlier and I've had my hair platinum blonde for 15 years (My hair is naturally blonde)! She kept telling me to go home and wash my hair and then I'll get the color I want. I have never left a salon with the stylist telling me to go home and wash my hair to get the desired color. After looking online for one second I realized she left the toner on way too long and will use lemons and pray this dark gray color fades! I am in disbelief that they consider her their best most experienced stylist! How does a 15 year stylist not know how to use toner? How does any stylist not know the difference between white blonde and gray hair? Anyway I paid the $150...yep $150...and ran out of there! I'm new to the area and will drive the 3 hours to Dallas for a decent stylist because none exist in Abilene! read more

We went to Ulta for a specific hair product. They only had one on the shelf, which is fine, except it was missing the cap and seemed like it had been used or tested. So we asked if they had more and were told it was all they had. We asked if we could get a discount on it since it was missing the cap and seemed used. The cashier called the assistant manager up the front, and she seemed annoyed that we would even ask for a discount, claimed they had just received a "truck load" of the product and didn't try to understand our predicament. She didn't go try to find more of the "truck load" of product for us and refused to help us out. She said she wasn't allowed to give discounts... So we ended up just having to buy the product as is and paid the full amount. read more

I can't believe the poor service I received today at the Abilene Ulta Salon. I usually overlook these things but just had to let someone know what they might encounter when getting their hair cut. I called prior to arriving and set an appointment. Upon arrival, I was greeted by a nice, young girl (or so I thought) who would cut my hair in less than 5 minutes. Prior to her cutting, she looked at my hair, asked what I wanted and sold me on a conditioning treatment. Yet after the cut and blow dry, it was apparent that the cut needed some tweaking. So I asked her to fix some things to my liking. I must also mention that when she dried my hair, she dried it straight back (like a werewolf), going as far as spraying it like this. Now why she never asked how I typically wore my hair and assumed I wore it like this (maybe because my hair was pulled back into a quasi french braid when I walked in?) just shocked me. Here is a young girl, newly married, trying to pass this hairstyle off that hasn't been worn in this fashion since the 60's. She then tweaked my hair and sent me on my way. The whole process was less than 20 min. I then went to the front to pay my bill and left her a nice tip. It was when I was at the counter that I remembered I also wanted to but some hair accessories, which were located in the back by the salon. This is when I overheard her mocking me and making fun of my hair to her co-worker, who was having her hair colored by this girl (no wonder she flew through my haircut). The old me wanted to walk up front and get my money back, then confront her and call her out. But I am a Christian woman and felt sorry that she felt the need to belittle and judge a customer, whom she had just met, just to make her co-worker laugh. I am a frequent customer and Platinum member of Ulta, but you can guarantee that I will never set foot in that store again. read more
