I was so excited to find a hot dog place. Like, they sounded like a GREAT place to get hot dogs which was perfect for a post hike bite. Sigh, I was so disappointed with our hot dogs. We got the Bavarian smokie and the Korean style hot dog with kim chi. My Korean Hot Dog literally tasted like the one you'd get at a hot lunch in elementary school in a lackluster bun with a boiled hot dog inside. The Bavarian Smokie was slightly better because it was covered in cheese and sauerkraut and an actual smokie, but honestly, I wouldn't bother getting a hot dog if you are coming here. Stopped into Ukee Dog based on a recommendation from a stranger, and it paid off. There is a solid selection of hot dogs and tacos and burritos. They also have home made sodas , I had the raspberry ginger ale (light hint of raspberry over the fresh ginger, very nice not sweet) I had the Spicy Mexican - which is a chorizo sausage, my friends has the Logger and the Canuck. The hot dogs are huge and the sides are pretty generous. Sides are extra and you may want to consider sharing. The side of mac n cheese could have been a meal on it's own. I think most of the dogs could be substitutes for a veggie dog.. small amout of indoor dinning and a partially covered patio, if there is mo seating order take out, there are more picnic tables across the road read more

Stopped by here July 3rd. Group of 5 adults. Tried the Canuck, Ukee, and Korean dogs and Salt Spring Wild Ciders. The atmosphere was really good, outdoor seating with shade coverings. They were short staffed but the cashier/waitress literally ran back and forth from the tables to taking orders. We came during a bit of a rush, the food was delivered to our table at exactly the 20 minute mark as the server said. The dogs got good reviews from each of our party. The buns were fresh and toasted ingredients were very generous. My buddy and I rode out to Ucluelet to search for a great hotdog. Unfortunately we didn't find any here. I ordered the Logger dog and a soft drink which came to over $14. For that I got a cheap boiled wiener on a toasted (or stale?) bun, some mild cheese, a few hot pickles and a homemade soft drink. I thought the soda was good, but my friend didn't drink his after one taste. The room was also dirty with some sort of sticky coating on the counter where we dined. The guy that took our orders was less than friendly, but the young fellow who brought our food was congenial enough. But like every other restaurant in this tourist town, expect to pay a premium. The picnic tables outside could have used some umbrellas to offer some shade from the sun. But these quibbles aside, overall I would give this establishment a thumbs up and would return should we come back to this part of the world. (the owner has quite the sense of humour. Stopped in for breakfast and coffee while touring Ukee. The drip coffee was self serve. Not sure what they were serving, but it was a nice roast. I had the scrambled eggs and my husband had the breakfast sliders. It was essentially the epitome of the beige basic breakfast. Nothing special and certainly not healthy. That being said it did hit the spot. Just a heads up if you are a toast lover- you'll get a toasted hot dog bun verses proper bread as your side. I loved the chili dog and the small pot pies! I didn't get to try all the cookies and other baked goods, or the soup, but they smelled good. They have about 4 different topping-ed hot dogs on the menu. This is one of the few "take out" places we found during our trip in Ucluelet (besides another, less memorable pizza place). We kept coming back since we were too intimidated to go "dine" at the fancy-looking restaurants more than once :) At the end of May, the closing time was pretty early (I think 3:30), so beware! This quirky little place is a great choice for an inexpensive meal. We stopped for lunch . My daughter had a mac&cheese dog - I was impressed by the flavor of the mac&cheese - it definitely wasn't neon orange Kraft. The weiner was a 1/4lb and was served on East coast style lobster roll buns which were fresh. I had a beef curry pot pie, light on the curry. The crust was flaky and delicious. I was able to get a mini salad with it. We also had a good cinnamon roll and a creative diablo cookie - chocolate cookie with chocolate chips, cinnamon and hot pepper. Yummy! read more

Both the chili and mac & cheese started my lunch out right, but I feel like it was something I could have created better at home. Really great people and a lovely atmosphere. I just love the garden in the front of the restaurant. Being on a grain-free (GAPS) diet I couldn't eat much here. They have these delightful meat pies as well as hot dogs with all kinds of toppings. But they also make a great soup and so I can generally find something to eat here. read more

We went here on our first day in town based on the great reviews and sounded like a quaint little place. Thought the place was cute and what you'd expect as a little seaside lunch place, and the ukee dog the canuck dog were definitely tasty, me and my new husband enjoyed (this is on our honeymoon trip) so overall a five out of five for the taste they were good! My concern was more so for cleanliness... There was one guy cooking in back who came out go take our order and ring us through. He helped us pay by credit (which there was no option to not tip since we doing takeout a bit weird) and then went into the back and continued prepping food - didn't see a handwash or gloves at all so a little concerned. We sat where we could watch the food being made and a young guy there eating likely on lunch break got up and went into the back to make our food picking up dirty plates along the way and again didn't see a hand wash before handling our food without gloves. Im certain these were not the owners based on overheard conversation, we would have walked out had we not already paid and been starving from a four hour drive and all of the good reviews - just basic food safe thing like a hand wash makes u think what else isn't getting done. Stopped in for a local meal after a hike and was excited to try this place. However after a 25 minute wait, I wondered if I would EVER get my meal. After 30 minutes it showed up. That was a LONG wait. The hot dog looked only mediocre. I ordered the Ukee dog. The chili was sparse and dried out. The hot dog itself was unremarkable, at best. Super friendly little hideout in a garage, serving creatively topped hot dogs that are large and tasty. The pulled pork dog is great, and is sized for two people. They also have small prepared pizzas and various meat pies that we did not have a chance to try, but the pies looked particularly good.
