Actual soft serve and taiyaki were super tasty! They also had a variety of Asian flavors that are seldom found in the area, and provide a welcomed addition to the neighborhood dessert scene. It's a tight space inside, with two waiting chairs and actual tables are all outside. Why the 3 stars? The service was painfully slow. Understaffed for a busy Valentine's Day evening. Both workers were very kind and nice, but the one taking the order was exceptionally chatty to each customer despite a long line. The one manning the actual assembly station also had to make the taiyakis and didn't seem to know how to read the orders. He actually made our order wrong and took extra time to redo it. Menu and food are great, but staff need to be better trained.
i love anything Ube/ Matcha and when i heard about Uji time coming to the desert i had to try them out. since then ive been coming and this has always been my order! the ube is flavorful and not too sweet which i can appreciate, and the cone is just cooked right. service is always kind and fast, i enjoy how convenient everything is. they also offer mochi and other tasty drinks in their fridges incase you're not in the mood for ice cream but with this heat it goes hand in hand
Great matcha and ube selection. They have drinks and frozen yogurt. Service was fast and friendly. Place is small but desserts are delicious. Will return especially to cool down in the desert heat.
Stopped in after looking up some taiyaki places in the area. We ordered a variety of mochi, taiyaki and taiyaki with soft serve. We were informed that the Taiyaki may take a little bit to prepare, which was good with us since fresh is always best! After we had ordered, we were informed that one of the mochi flavors we wanted was out so we had to choose another flavor. They handed us the mochi and we waited inside for the taiyaki since it was still warm outside. We received the taiyaki with soft serve but they had forgotten the chocolate drizzle we had ordered on top. Unfortunately, we had to wait so much longer for the taiyaki than expected that our mochi had actually burst and we were unable to properly eat them. Many other customers had ordered, received their treats and left, and the Taiyaki we had ordered didn't get cooking until a few rounds of customers had gone through. Taste of the Nutella Taiyaki was as expected, but unfortunately we were unable to get a proper taste of any of the mochi as they all ran together after they escaped their mochi casings. That being said, their matcha drinks they are advertising look like great combinations, so I may be back to try their other sweets they offer!
You have to try the matcha ube swirl with Nutella stuffed fish. I thought they paired well together since Ube is sweeter and the Matcha is more bitter. My boyfriend had a vanilla milkshake. It was creamy and very good. I'd recommend visiting after the sun is setting. I was taking pictures outside, and it was instantly melting ,obviously in our desert heat.
What a hidden gem in the dessert! These types of Asian-inspired dessert places are popular in the major cities, like San Diego and LA. Happy to have found one here! Loved that they had Black Sesame flavors. I got the Black Sesame mochi ice cream for only $2 - and it was a perfect little treat. My daughter went all in with the matcha/ube swirl in a cup with a Nutella-filled Taiyaki (waffle fish) on top. My son got a vanilla soft serve in a cup. Both were big portions! Which was good because they both didn't finish in time for the last parts of it to melt but it was ok. Service was quick and easy. There are two chairs inside but no tables, so we had to take them to go. We ate in the car to escape the heat and quick melting of the soft serve. It's a little tucked away and small. Hoping they get enough customers to stay in business!
Yummy ice cream with unique flavor combinations. The location is small; seating is outdoors; however it is very cute and the treats were yummy. Price was a little high, but I believe it was worth the overall experience and will visit again.
I was super stoked to find a Taiyaki dessert spot in Palm Springs. It sounded really good, it was after dinner and it was pretty close by. It was a Friday night, pretty hard to find. I recommend parking in front of the liquor store and walk over. They have many options and smells really good. The only reason why I only have two stars is because the young lady who took our orders used her gloves to collect the money and used the same gloves to get our ice cream. I've never seen anyone use a set a gloves for everything. She even used her hands to sprinkle the peanuts. I had to ask for a spoon to eat the match ice cream and ended scraping off the peanuts. Forget about eating the Taiyaki. I most likely will not be returning if I'm in the area.

From creamy soft serve to flavorful mochi and a wide variety of ice cream flavors, there's something for everyone. Their homemade waffle cones are seriously so good--crispy, warm, and the perfect touch. It's a great late-night dessert stop with a super friendly and welcoming vibe. Definitely a sweet addition to the desert scene, and one worth coming back to!

In my search for dessert, Uji conveniently popped up on my radar, as it was located just down the block from where we were! Thanks Yelp for directing me here, as I wouldn't have noticed it -- around the corner -- on my own. Fun-&-interesting flavor options. I ordered my first taiyaki cone filled with red bean, along with ube soft serve; I appreciated that I was asked if I wanted the cone filled with the soft serve or if I desired the soft serve in a cup, topped with the cone. I opted for the latter, which made eating my dessert easier (on a warm night) and more enjoyable. I thoroughly enjoyed their ube soft serve -- very tasty, full of flavor (unlike many others I've had, which are light and bland)! Pleasant, patient, and helpful staff.

The cashier was friendly and informed us that the waffle iron would take a little bit to heat up and we were ok to wait. We didn't know we would end up waiting as long as we did, though. I ordered right after my friend who got 2 cheese taiyaki. Understandable if she put her batter in first, but there were 3 molds, and I think it was still heating up after my order. Turns out, she made 2 taiyaki, took a while to heat up (which was fine). But when she made mine she made the 2 Nutella first, waited for those to be done, then the 1 cheese, which took even more time. We didn't understand the reasoning behind that. The Nutella taiyaki were good, but the cheese one barely had any cheese (they use store bought cheese shreds). I couldn't even tell mine had any and just tasted like a plain taiyaki. The cashier was sweet though, and by herself. The place was clean and hopefully it picks up for them. Some unsavory individuals are around/nearby but not bothering anyone.
I WANT MORE ! Vegan mochi ? More please ! The coconut and mango were my favorites. They've got quite a variety here ...lattes , ube coffee , drip coffee, taiyaki cones ,red bean paste croissants, boba tea ,milkshakes and more . Don't be fooled by the tiny size of this business, they're packing some fun delicious flavors like black sesame , ube , pandan , & matcha ! Highly recommend popping in for a treat. Pro tip : come for happy hour m-thurs 2-5pm for 20% off. read more

UPDATE (9/15/26) First off, I came here 2 years ago when they first opened. I got their soft serve in the Taiyaki with the Red Bean filling and other toppings and it was wonderful. It was a really good first impression. Also Black Sesame is one of my absolute favorite flavors I always order for any dessert. Now fast forward to now, I'm back here for a visit. When we got inside it wasn't busy at all. Service was friendly and helpful. When I walked inside to see their Taiyaki soft serve options, I was pretty disappointed. They only had three flavors available. And I have to be honest, the flavors didn't interest me. It was just Vanilla, Green Tea, and I think Chocolate? Maybe a Mango flavor too which seemed seasonal. I'm sure they were good but the ice cream section had flavors I wish were soft serve like Black Sesame and a milk tea one. We ended up getting their ice cream instead because they had a larger assortment of flavors. And when I tried the sample, the flavor was decent. Two years ago, my 5/5 stars was for my Taiyaki experience. Now it's 3/5 stars for the ice cream. I got the Black Sesame and Coffee ice cream scoops with the waffle cone. Flavor was there, the waffle cone was good, but the ice cream didn't blow me away by any means. I wish this place had more variety for their soft serve because it's worth the money for me. Most of my disappointment came from that I'd probably never have the Black Sesame soft serve Taiyaki again from here because I only had it that one time, and also there weren't any appealing flavors for the soft serve I would've been excited to try instead. I would not come back here for their regular ice cream, I'd just spend my money somewhere else. read more

This is the second Uji time location I've been to and I decided to try something new. The wait did take a bit because a large group came in before us and there was only one employee working the register and making the ice cream, so I won't fault him on that. We got the mochi ice cream which was so good a delicious. We shared between ourselves but it's definitely worth getting the 3 for $8 deal for yourself. Highly recommend the sweet cream and passion fruit! read more

Got lost the first time trying to find the place, but worth a second drive around! If you're not from the area, just know that Uji time is on the left side of the liquor store lol. Anywho, I loved the soft serve. The cup was small, but they pack it up! Make sure you get extra napkins! The ube was really good and tastes like magnolia's ice cream. Iykyk. The taiyaki itself could use a bit more filling inside. However the texture of the taiyaki was lovely and crispy towards the tail (if you're into that). It is quite sizable compared to other more popular taiyaki places. They also have a wide range of scoopable ice cream and sell pints! If I didn't live so far where it could melt, I'd love to try the durian, ube, lychee, and hojicha, and black sesame pints. Uji Time also has coffee and matcha drinks. Showed up for their soft opening and the business was already getting a lot of customers. Everyone was super friendly as they were working out the kinks. Due to this we received a 20% off. They have three flavors of soft serve, but tons of ice flavors. For a niche kinds of asian flavors this is a great place to goto. Nice ambiance and glad to see the dessert has some new things happening. read more

We love this place! Great matcha/ube swirl! Service was good but the first time we came this poor kid was by himself bustin his butt to make everyone's order & we felt bad for him. Anyways the soft serve ice cream is delicious & so are the cones! Haven't tried anything else yet so we shall see! read more

Pretty good for some good ole tayaki soft serve but I'm more partial to Somi Somi. Almost didn't find this place since it's around the corner of a liquor store and it's quite small. Service was friendly and place was clean. read more
We saw the beautiful pics on Yelp showing the taiyaki and decided to drive from Indio to try Ujitime during their soft opening (about 15 minutes's drive). We were so happy to find that they're open! The shop is adorable, very demure and photographable! :) There's a neon and cherry blossom area where you can snap one for the 'gram, and the white wallpaper with a sakura (cherry blossom) print is very sweet. Their menu board is very modern. Upon walking in, we were greeted by the yummy aroma of something sweet baking. Behind the glass enclosure, one of the staff was making the cute little open-mouthed carp-shaped taiyaki cones for the signature treats. The staff were super friendly and welcoming, and we were encouraged to sample the soft serve before buying. I tried the ube (purple yam) and matcha. Both were yummy. Between Nutella and red bean paste for the taiyaki filling, I chose the latter. My BF had the ube soft serve, and I went with the matcha. We both got Pocky sticks for our topping. Our dessert was delish, and we were both so glad we made the drive. My BF said he could see becoming a regular. Me, too! A tip: the shop is around the corner from Hwy 111. Also, there are two steps to walk up to get inside, and a regular door (not automatic for accessibility). Check it out! read more

Had a Sunday dessert date after dinner. They were very friendly and quick service. I liked that they have seating outside so we enjoyed the nice fresh weather with beautiful views of the mountains, while we savored our ice cream. The cones were soft, warm and very yummy. The ice cream is creamy and surprisingly the black sesame was my favorite! read more
Came in at 7:30 on a Wednesday night, the poor kid working was all by himself & bombarded but he still did well. They really need to hire another person to help. Having people handle money & immediately go to touching food like the homemade cones is unsanitary. I ordered soft serve in a cup after observing this. The ube matcha swirl is good with the matcha being more overpowering. I'd return when in the area but please hire more help! Having one person working alone is absurd! read more

Cute little dessert shop in Palm Desert! It's a small building, and we came in during a busy time. There was only one worker, but with how long the line was, it definitely could've used two, especially during the summer when ice cream is so popular. I got the Matcha and Ube swirl Taiyaki with red bean inside, topped with honey drizzle and a Pocky stick, and the Vanilla Taiyaki with Nutella inside, topped with mango drizzle and Fruity Pebbles. We both had ours in a cup with the taiyaki on top for $10 each. Thank you! read more

Abby and gentleman (name starts with a "W") were fantastic; great service, small little ice cream parlor style with some outdoor seating and cute minimalist decor. Walking in, you're instantly hit with the smell of fresh taiyaki and waffles. There isn't anywhere else in the desert like this! Between the beverage menu, many varieties of ice cream and soft serve with topping choices, and tons of mochi flavors.. this place is one of a kind! From the second we walked in, we were welcomed with the delicious scent of taiyaki. Lina helped us and was super cool and sweet. She offered us a sample of the ube ice cream and I'll definitely be getting that next time. My boyfriend and I loved our ice creams with taiyaki. Lina was super helpful and sweet! This is such a great spot for ice cream and Japanese desserts! I got ube ice cream, with Oreo crumbles and a pocky stick, with Nutella filled taiyaki on top. Later on, I came back and ordered their classic matcha drink and some chocolate mochi, both of which were wonderful! The matcha was so creamy and delicious Customer service was great, despite the store being quite crowded, which would be my only complaint if I were to have one, there's no indoor seating and the inside is a bit cramped if it gets busy. But that's something I can look past for some of the best ice cream I've ever had! read more
