lady in the front was very very rude it was my first time coming into this shop and never have i ever heard of being charged $1 for a freakin spoon?! that's so crazy in my opinion i got shaved ice in a drink cup and asked for a spoon as well and she was like we can't just give out plastic utensils for free if you get the bowl it comes with a spoon but since you got the drink cup it only comes with a straw and at first i thought she was joking and i laughed but she was serious and i never in my life heard of that so she was like you can buy a spoon i was like um okay thinking it was 10 cents or something cheap but she went ahead and said $1 i was like a $1 for a plastic spoon really now and she went ahead and rolled her eyes like god forbid if i had my son and my son we sometimes go in places to get a plastic spoon for him to take his medicine on and every place i have gone into just gives out the spoons usually or even have them out to grab and i was just thinking god forbid we ever come in here needing a utensil for that reason because my goodness it seemed like she definitely is pocketing the money because who in their right mind charges a $1 for a plastic spoon you can go buy a whole pack at the freakin dollar tree! The location in cat city is definitely better the guys there are so so friendly they gave me a free cotton once but don't tell the owner at this location or she'll have a heart attack! sadly it was closed for repairs so we went to this one and will definitely never be coming back i've read the reviews and it seems like a lot of people have issues with this certain lady and she tries to comment to justify her behavior or why she acted that way so she can feel better at the end of day im sure she will do it to this response as well but pay no mind no one should ever charge a whole dollar for a plastic spoon im surprised she didn't charge me for a napkin or breathing the same air as her inside the shop. Attaching pictures of the owners response since you can't fully reply back to the response so i am posting another review: You buy your stores utensils FOR your customers so yes it is absolutely not the customers problem to pay for a spoon since it is intended for your paying customers! if a random homeless person came in needed one sure you can be cruel and not give them one without paying for it but for a PAYING customer you shouldn't have them pay an extra thing as silly as a freakin spoon and especially charging $1 for it! you clearly don't know how to run a business you charge more for a spoon than wendy's or mcdonald's does for a freakin sauce and some people don't want their shaved ice in a bowl because it melts faster i simply wanted mine in a cup for a reason for it to stay cooler and not melt faster we are in the desert after all aren't we?! i got mine in a cup at the other location and they were more than willing to give me a spoon to use, and i brought up my sons medication as an example if you clearly read it you would've seen that! If you want your business to keep going and actually show you are a clean business owner you accommodate to your PAYING customers needs! Like you said you buy all your supplies for your customers so me simply asking for a spoon for my shaved ice shouldn't have been a problem regardless of where the shaved ice ending up going in. You trying to justify otherwise just makes it 100% worse. You lack empathy and don't know anything about customer satisfaction. If you're complaining about your customers complaining about buying a stupid utensils than maybe you shouldn't be running a business at all because at the end of the day a true business owner knows it's always about leaving the customer happy and satisfied which you lack completely and other people clearly see it as well. Take care and hope you improve your attitude and behavior for the sake of your business and realize being a business owner sometimes also means making sacrifices for the satisfaction of your customers! Again without customers you wouldn't even have a business. Your customers is what makes your business going so jeopardizing that for a silly reason is all on you my dear, and you saying that you pay for all your supplies yourself is absolutely what a business owner should be doing if they want a successful business?! Then you saying it absolutely matters how those supplies are used?? The shop owner at this location is very rude. She ruined my experience so much so that I didn't even get anything here. I have been here multiple times under the last owner and I had the best experience, but no matter the quality of the items, the service was horrible and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. Visit Cat City location or Great shakes in downtown Palm Springs:) It was a small misunderstanding and the owner went out of her way to try and correct me, even went as far as going back and forth with me. She should have politely corrected the issue which was over sample cups for some reason they don't offer sample cups in an ice cream shop. It was very rude, she came around the counter and pointed out the sign that read something about sample cups that I didn't see because they advertised a new flavor so I immediately asked the employee to try it and he didn't explain the process very well and I clearly asked so I just try it from the cup and he said yes. I then went over to try the product and she came around very rude instead of guiding me. I didn't order anything because of the obnoxious response from the owner. She proceeded to tell me to have a great day with a snippy attitude as if she knew nothing would happen to her business with just one bad review. A Sweet Surprise: Dole Soft Serve in Every Flavor I was pleasantly surprised by this place. They had Dole soft serve -- the kind I usually only find in Hawaii at the Dole Plantation. Here, though, they had it in just about every flavor you can imagine: strawberry, orange, pomegranate, lemon, and more. Having ALL the dole whip flavors is amazing though, incl the less common flavors like lemon, watermelon, strawberry. Per other comments, some of the toppings were stale. Mochi bits were rock hard. I got the mangonada which was delicious with the dole whip. Their version is basically mango dole whip with chamoy and tajin. I realized I could've made it myself at the self serve bar (since chamoy and tajin are avail toppings) though I'd be missing the tamarind straw, but that would let me customize the size a bit more. Kids enjoyed the ice cream too and my husband liked his milkshake, though I had to remind the staff he was missing the mini donut on top. Staff was helpful but not super warm/nice. I think the poor woman wasn't having a great day as she definitely seemed like she was over all the tourists, ha. The customer service here is amazing. My son and I came here on a recent vacation based on the positive reviews. When we first entered and I tried to read their rotating menu, a staff member offered me a copy of a menu to make it easier for me to read. I was taking a photo of the screens so I could read them. The manager was also there and she answered all my questions about their Acai Bowl. She offered to eliminate the granola since it wasn't gluten free. I don't like to be an annoying customer with lots of questions but my son has Type 1 Diabetes so I needed to know exactly what was going to be in the Acai Bowl and how much. The manager was so accommodating! She had a worker there who was being trained and I think the answers I got helped her staff member too. The Acai Bowl was fresh and delicious. You can't go wrong with a nice nutty fill of chocolate and fruity sweetness of strawberry. They also charge a $1 for any extra toppings, I got the Reeses' PB and it was delicious.
