I called the Bone Health Center's department with the Bone & Joint center in Albany to speak to…read moresomeone about scheduling an appointment with an endocrinologist specialist. I was transferred to a woman named Julie whose voicemail said that she was either with a patient or in clinic. I left a message for a call back. Finally got a return call the next business day and Julie scheduled a telephone appointment with me for July 16th at 1:00pm. After waiting several hours, I never got that call. I called her back on July 17th and left her a message regarding the call I never received. When she returned my call, I asked her what happened to our scheduled call. Her response was that she went home sick. Rather than an apology, she stated again that she was sick and went home. Her next comment was "I don't call from my home to cancel appointments because I don't get paid for it". She called me the following week to schedule another phone conference for July 22nd. During this conversation, Julie stated several times that the doctor does not appreciate patients not calling in to cancel appointments and that she herself would get into trouble if a cancellation was not called in. I proceeded to ask for a time that we could have our telephone appointment on the 22nd and she could not confirm. I stated several times that I needed to know a timeframe. Finally, she agreed to "maybe 9:00". I did receive her call at 9:00am. Because I was unsure of the type of person I was dealing with, I had my husband present with me to listen in on the call. I completed my medical background with her and during this call, she gave me a November 9th appointment with an endocrinologist (out of respect for the doctor, I will not mention her name here) at Albany Medical. Julie mentioned again several times during the call that the doctor did not appreciate folks not calling to cancel appointments. Julie then provided me with her email address so that I could forward to her additional medical documentation which I did. I requested that she confirm with me that she received my emails. The morning of July 24th, I received notification that both emails were undelivered. I called Julie regarding the undelivered emails and she insisted that she gave me the correct email address. Finally she agreed that it was wrong, so she provided me with anther email address. While I was trying to relay back to her the correct email address she gave me, she insisted on interrupting me. I asked her several time to please let me talk. She then proceeded to tell me that from the very beginning, I was mean to her. She decided she was going to intimidate me by saying she was going to talk to the doctor about me. It made no difference to me who she was going to speak to, so I told her to take me off the appointment schedule and I hung up. I then called the Bone and Joint Center and I cancelled my November 9th appointment at 3:00pm with the doctor. I verified again on July 27th that this appointment was indeed cancelled, and of course it was. Because Julie was at fault from the start, she tried to intimidate and control the conversation. I find it disturbing that it was okay for Julie to not call and cancel my appointment with her, but it was okay for her to state on several occasions that the doctor gets upset with clients who do not cancel appointments. At this juncture, I have decided to seek medical treatment with another provider. If this is the best that the Bone & Joint Center can do when it comes to hiring folks to schedule appointments with their Bone Health Clinic, then I feel sorry for your clients who are in need of these services.

He makes you feel very at ease and listens very closely to your concerns. He is a very skilled doctor and very caring. He took me to his computer screen and showed me my knee. He explained everything about my knee in detail and told me exactly what I was looking at, which was great because after 3-4 months of seeing other doctors, having x-rays, MRIs, Urgent Care's, I really hadn't seen this before. I have a torn meniscus, a torn ACL which is pretty much useless 2 fractures and a Baker's cyst. He made sure I was out of pain and we discussed a plan of action. He did not rush me, and this is one of the main complaints I have about almost all doctors nowadays. He is from the old school and a master at his profession. I highly recommend him.

My friend had recent shoulder surgery and absolutely LOVES Dr. Alley...and through her connection, I got an appointment right away. He also surrounds himself with a phenomenal, efficient and friendly staff. Dr. Alley spent an extraordinary amount of time with me during our initial consultation. He is an orthopedic surgeon...and quite the "mechanic". But...he's also personable, kind and has a great sense of humor. He specializes in shoulders and knees and performed my ACL reconstruction surgery 2 years ago. Everything went exactly as planned and I'm back to my many activities with no issues. Insurance covered everything. I refer everyone that I know to Dr. Alley. If you need to see an orthopedist, pay him a visit.

Professional, kind, super chill, and very knowledgable. My only complaint is Art Smuckler. Now as far as his skill level, craft of the orthotics, and his knowledge and thoroughness with orthotics, feet, and the over all body mechanic knowledge he's fantastic. BUT, and it's a big but, his bedside manner is atrocious. I first saw Art for my orthotic fitting. Typical old school guy. Big ego. Talks a lot about himself and how he works with "the best athletes in the world" and the "highest level NBA teams." OK fine. I've dealt with big egos before. Prior to my 1st fitting (after meeting Art and my initial consult), reception messaged and said that the sneakers Art wanted me to buy from the office were no longer available in the color that I wanted. The women I spoke to suggested that I choose another style or purchase sneakers of my own in 2 sizes: 1/2 size bigger and a full size bigger, just to be sure. I purchased my own sneakers as instructed and waited in the room for Art. When Art came in he was very upset that I purchased my own shoes. I told him what had happened, but he didn't care. We continued with the fitting and he would not let it go. He completely lost it when I told him that I wasn't fond of the selection at the office which is why I purchased my own sneakers. He screamed at me. He got very close in my face and he was screaming at me saying: "You don't know who you're dealing with Honey!" "I'm the most sought after person in my field and I work with the most famous sportsman in the world!" At a certain point I was scared. I'm a smaller framed woman and he was looming over me yelling at me and pointing at me in my face. He threw one of the sneakers that I purchased across the room into the shoe box. I told him that he was being very unprofessional and that I did not want to deal with him any longer. At that point I demanded that he get Will Smith to finish my appointment. I had spent over $600 for the orthotics. I wasn't going to waste it. Will Smith came in and apologized for Art's behavior. Will also said that it was totally fine that I brought in my own sneakers. He approved of the brand and made his own suggestions. I will be going back only because of Will. The entire practice is great except for Art and his extremely large ego. As a woman, I do not feel safe with Art. He's very nasty and takes the slightest thing personal. I give General Orthotics a 4 because over all everyone is lovely. Art Smuckler, not so much.
