Dr Mulligan is a phenomenal DR. I can say that he cares greatly about his patients he took great care of my daughter Emani from surgery to her post op appointments. Dr. Mulligan listened to my daughter needs. As a mother it means everything to see your child in good hands and DR. Mulligan has been nothing short of amazing. HE performed my daughter hand surgery and has taken such wonderful care of them every step of the way. His skill,patience and compassion truly stands out. He makes sure we understand everything answeres all our questions and never makes us feel rushed or overlooked. The level of care and attention he gives his patient is rare and im so grateful my child had him as her surgeon. Update: On March 2nd I returned at 3:45pm and was told that my issue was not urgent and I needed to be seen in the office, they could not see me. I told them I was turned away the day before. I was told you need to come in before noon to be seen. They close at 5:00pm and you need to arrive 5 hours before??? I was scheduled to see an NP on March 4th who found my issue and treated it. On March 1st I arrived at your urgent care at 11:15am. I waited in line 10 minutes to then be told at 11:25am that they were no longer seeing patients and to come back on March 2nd at 8:00am. There were three receptionists there, two were at the desk when I arrived and said nothing about not seeing any patients. The third receptionist returned to the front desk and was the one that told me. Your hours on Sunday's are 8:00am- 12:00pm. Good customer service would be to see patients that arrived prior to 12:00pm. Nothing was posted on your website or in the office. I traveled 40 minutes to come to the urgent care. I saw dr santoros and he was very off putting. he came and spoke with me for about 10 minutes. he was unwilling to do anything to help me with my hand issues. he said to leave it alone and to come back if it lasts more than three months. Trying to make an appointment for an MRI is very tedious, waiting on hold 30 minutes, many hoops to jump through, etc. Thinking of going someplace else for an MRI. I had a procedure done this morning at the Bone and Joint Clinic by Dr. Alex Harbin, I'm a Veteran and I was sent to the B&J Clinic by the Albany VA Medical Center. I want to let you know that this doctor was great, he was personable, explained everything and asked me the questions that I hoped he would, never having a procedure like this before. He knew I was in excruciating pain and assured me he had it covered, and he did. His PA Hope was great, she explained everything to me and made sure she set up my meds. The sleep doctor was a Vet so we chatted while he explained what he was gonna do and what I'd feel to numb me up. Nurse Megan first took me in and set my IV's and assisted me in getting changed and ready. Nurse Kelly stayed with me through my Prep period and did everything to comfort me and take my Vitals. Nurse Paula was my discharge nurse and went over everything plus asked a ton of questions knowing I was just coming down off my sleep drugs . The receptionist even came in early to get the patients set up. You know they only have 5 Stars in the rating system but this place should get 10 and the Doctor 15. When people do their job and do it well, they should be recognized. read more

After two months of a severe ankle sprain I have seen him three times and he has given me no guidance for healing, not stated in the room long enough to answer my questions, and has not given me a diagnosis. I arrived at urgent care on Saturday at 3pm with my son who injured his finger. We didn't even make it to the front desk without getting looks from the three female staff members sitting there. They were extremely rude and dismissed the fact that my son injured his finger. They quickly told us they had seen too many patients for the day. I think the MD's should be aware of the way their patients are greeted and treated. Do better Bone and Joint. We certainly won't be going back or referring anyone we know to go there either. read more

Their doctors, physician assistants and nurses are amazing, but the administrative staff who worked today in the urgent care... not so much. They literally tried sending me home rather than having me be seen. They argued with me! They wanted me to just wait for my appointment two weeks from now, despite the fact that my pain level was 8/10. Thank goodness I stood my ground and stayed. I was seen by the PA and he helped me by giving me a cortisone injection. Front desk staff urgent care, do better! You stand in velvet rope lines to check in and out. You are put in one waiting room for an hour then moved to another waiting room for an hour. Finally you see the Doctor and he sees you for less than 5 minutes and that visit is even interrupted. The short amount of staff that are there talk about what they are going to do after work, you wonder if they are all dating each other. read more

After spending a few hours at Northern Dutchess and getting no relief for my knee pain I went up to The Bone and Joint Urgent care where I was helped immediately. I could hardly walk because my knee was so swollen and painful. Dan removed the fluid from my knee and I was able to walk out . I was in and out of there within a half hour!I wish I had just gone there to begin with...Thank you Dan!!! read more

After numerous attempts to get relief from my severe sciatica pain, I drove an hour, had to park a distance & then was told to go to 3rd floor. The wait wasn't too bad but the consult lasted 3 minutes. 3 week wait for a shot. Pain meds prescribed were not compatible to my kidney & high blood press meds. I called for a substitute & was told that's all they prescribe & don't do med management . So I'm back to square 1 with no relief in sight . They don't care! Wow! 2 1/2 hours later , after sitting in a cold doctors office , Dr. Di Caprio shows up and tells me I don't have cancer. Well what a relief!!, Unfortunately he wasn't sure of what side of my body it was on ??? What a waste of time. He could have at least had a better bedside manner, he seemed annoyed that I had darkened his doorstep. It's not like he sat in a cold room in giant blue shorts for 2 1/2 hours. The parking is awful. No matter what time of day you show up, the parking lot is always packed. This forces you to park in one of the upper parking lots for other buildings in the complex, which is not great if you walk with a cane. Since there are no sidewalks, you have to walk in the road. Almost got hit by a car. Went through all that. Saw my doctor for 8 minutes total in two 4 minutes sessions. I suppose I should be grateful his majesty allotted me even that small amount of his time. It was a lot to go through to hear essentially "Take two aspirin and call me if it gets worse." Call them again and for what? To repeat this glorious experience? read more

I have a bad back and have had 2 failed surgeries (not with Bone & Joint). Because of my back issues occasionally my right leg goes numb causing me to fall. It happened and I fell. My ankle became extremely swollen and after a couple of days I went to Bone & Joint urgent care. Xrays taken and told no break just a bad sprain and I could walk on it as much as I could tolerate. I did. And shoveled snow. My ankle kept swelling so after 3 weeks I went back to Bone & Joint. Turned out I actually had a fibula fracture that I had been walking on for 3 weeks. Emergency surgery was scheduled. I now have a plate and 9 screws in my leg. So much for "just a bad sprain". read more

I injured my left knee over a year ago and it's been locked straight since I fell on the ice in my driveway. I had arthroscopic surgery that did nothing at another facility and the doctor said he couldn't do anything more for me. I just got new insurance so I wanted find a new orthopedist and try again to get some help. I called the Bone & Joint Center to make an appointment with Dr. Jared Roberts. I was told his next appointment was in four months and he only does surgery. I really didn't want to wait that long and am not sure surgery is the best option. Then I tried to make an appointment with Dr. Andrew Gerdeman and was told to send in my last doctor's notes from my treatment and surgery and someone would call me to schedule an appointment. A week went by and no one called me, so I called the office. The woman on the phone said I couldn't make an appointment because the doctor only does "sports medicine," even though it says on his bio that he does general orthopedics. After I said that, she told me there was a note attached to the files that I sent to the office and it was from Dr. Gerdeman. It said he couldn't help me. This was without speaking to me or examining me. I was really upset at this point and spoke to another woman in the office who tried to help me make an appointment with any orthopedist who would accept me as a patient. I finally saw Dr. Ortiz in Latham a few weeks later but he seemed to think I was wasting his time and literally rolled his eyes when I said I couldn't bend my knee at all. He was walking out of the exam room and probably thought I couldn't see him. The x-ray tech also snapped at me when I asked a simple question. Dr. Ortiz then said he would consider doing a procedure on my knee under anesthesia to try to get it moving again and he would call me. I guess he decided not to help me because he never called. I wouldn't want to go back there anyway. Awful. read more

Being an existing patient of both Dr. Zanaros and Dr. Riccio, i never imagined it would be impossible to schedule a return appointment for ongoing care. I called both providers' schedulers more than two weeks ago - one for a second opinion for surgery and the other to schedule another pain management shot. I have yet to receive a call back for either. While I realize most of the medical community is overloaded, particularly post-Covid, I can't justify no callback. Very disappointed. read more

My husband had a HORRIBLE experience at the Bone and Joint Center in Malta. I do NOT recommend becoming a patient there. It is HIGHLY dysfunctional, unprofessional, and uncaring towards patients. Here is a list of some examples of what happened: 1) They were at least 10 days late on more than one test result and never responded when my husband asked where they were. 2) The receptionist, Jessica, mistreated my husband and refused to give him information about what was going on with his test results and what the next steps were. She also lied about the portal process for the P.A. receiving messages. This woman was VERY immature, unprofessional, and uncaring. 3) My husband repeatedly called and left messages for supervisors to call him, because there were so many communication problems regarding his care. It took them two weeks to respond. 4) While he liked his relationship with his P.A., the Center CLEARLY has organizational and professional problems. It is NOT worth the hassle going to this center. It is THE WORST treatment facility we have been to. read more

I have used Bone and Joint three separate times for shoulder injury's and met with Dr. Whipple both times. I am an active 70+ year old and made it clear to the doctor, I wanted to remain active as a bike rider, skier and a kayaker. My wife and I enjoy these sports and want to continue to partake in them as long as we can. Dr Whipple reviewed my MRI and X-rays and told me the damage to my rotator cuff was pretty severe. He recommended that if i have PT, I could continue with my activities albeit with limited range of motion and some weakness. He said he could perform surgery but recuperation time could be over a year. I chose not to go through surgery and work through my discomfort which is now minimal. How many surgeons will take the time to learn who their patients really are and take the time to give you options, when they could just say surgery is the only option. Dr Whipple treated the patient, not just the injury. Dr Whipple also treated a trigger finger condition for me during one of my shoulder visits. I rate the quality of care at Bone and Joint Center as excellent. Getting an appointment was fast and easy. The staff is courteous and professional. Now fast forward a year, and my wife slipped on wet rocks and fell and broke her hand. A local hospital in Maine immobilized her hand until we could see an orthopedic surgeon. As soon as we returned to New York, we stopped at Bone and Joint Urgent Care with no appointment. The team at the Urgent Care efficiently checked her in and had X-rays done, met with a surgeon and had her hand cast and set her up with a follow up appointment, all within an hour and half. All emergency rooms should be as efficient, courteous and professional as the team at Albany Bone and Joint. read more

If I could give a minus one, I would. I called today for an appointment because I have a fractured back. They will not take me. I had a back surgery in 2012 and that is the reason. They will NOT help someone who had a former surgery. What kind of doctor does this. The worse, that's what kind. I sit with a back fracture and called the bone and joint center to see an ortho. Get this they will NOT see me because I had a prior surgery. Their doctors, all surgeons, will not see a patient who had prior surgery. My surgery was 12 years ago. I told them I would think orthopedic surgeons would want to help a person with a back fracture, but no, Capital Region Orthopaedic Associates, The Bone and Joint Center turns people away. I had a torn rotator cuff repaired by Dr. Gerdeman in 2021 and an elbow tendon repair in 2024 and my experience with Dr. Gerdeman and his team is outstanding. He is a highly skilled surgeon and is very knowledgeable about all aspects of surgery, recovery and rehabilitation through PT. If you follow his guidance and work hard at your rehabilitation your results will be excellent. The Bone and Joint Center is the best Orthopedic group in the capital district. read more

I have had some very very VERY bad experiences at the Bone and Joint Center. A little more than a year ago, I came to the Bone and Joint Center with an extreme amount of pain in my right foot. I went to urgent care, got some x-rays done, and the doctor deduced that I had simply sprained my ankle. For three more months my pain ensued, so in desperation I went to another doctor in Boston Massachusetts, George Theodore. He diagnosed me with a pretty rare ligament tear in my foot called a LisFranc Ligament Tear, by simply getting an X-Ray on my foot from a standing perspective. For a while I was very bitter that I was not diagnosed at the Bone and Joint Center sooner, just because they failed to have me take a standing x-ray, but I was very grateful to receive a diagnosis and receive a surgery from Dr. Theodore at Mass General. (Fast forward to about a year later) While I really loved being under Dr.Theodore's care, I had to make a plan to see orthopedic doctors much closer by, because college was rapidly approaching and it was too painful and time consuming to drive myself to Boston. My surgery was very successful, as mentioned, However, I was doing physical therapy at too rapid of a pace and trying to return to sports too quickly, and had developed bone edema/bone mineralization as a result. I additionally was experiencing quite a lot of pain in my left foot because the medical device I was using forced me to bear most of my weight on my good foot. So, I went to see Dr.Cole in urgent care. He was actually very kind and patient, and requested that I get an MRI on my left foot. Unfortunately, my insurance did not allow me to get an MRI until it was also requested by a specialist doctor, so I scheduled an appointment with Dr.Rosenbaum, who could not see me until a month later. In the meantime my pain spiked to a level 10 in both feet, to the point where I couldn't attend classes or get out of bed. I went to urgent care in desperation and not only was the lady at the front desk really short and rude to me, they DENIED ME CARE, saying that I could not get any help at urgent care because I was already seeing Dr.Rosenbaum in a month, even when I started crying and explained I was in an EXCRUCIATING amount of pain. So, I came back the next day, was greeted by the same salty lady at the front desk, and waited for 4 hours in urgent care only to be seen by an upper extremity's doctor. I got a prescription for a wheelchair, and came back weeks later to see Rosenbaum. I went into the appointment, asked for an MRI on both my feet since they were declining in health so much so I was wheelchair bound, and they deemed it not MEDICALLY NECESSARY? I went home and I cried because I couldn't function, and I had truly begged to get any sort of answers on my foot, but I got nowhere. After this final interaction at the bone and joint center, I decided I'm never going back. I never got the care I needed. NEVER go to the Bone and Joint Urgent Care if you can, and NEVER see Dr.Rosenbaum, he denied me the care I needed. read more

Worst urgent care ever. Sprained my knee. Doc did xray then said he's not a knee doc so he's not sure if it's a ligament or meniscus but he can give me cortisone shot to maybe numb some of the pain . Had me schedule in a few weeks to see a specialist. I would have rather not wasted time or money. You go there thinking they can figure out what's wrong but it's just a business. this service used to be A+ . The current model of practice is not user friendly, chaotic, overwhelmed reception people, and horrendously managed. The doctors and nurse practitioners are very skilled. However getting to see them in a timely fashion, with or without an appointment, is a long, long process and wait. What was once a model of great service has become a torturous process. 1367 WASHINGTON AVENUE OFFICE My husband had an appt.with Dr. P. Hospodar in June, an ortho doctor, for his hand. After we waited 2 1/2 hours, a smug doctor came in. He didn't even apologize. I didn't even stand up to shake his hand, I was so disgusted. He had a way about him that made you feel he was better than you and you should be delighted he showed up. Absolutely no bedside manners. He looked at my husbands hand for less than 5 minutes and gave him a script for a cream and PT. When we got home and read the Warning label it turned out that my husband couldn't use this cream because of the side effects on the warning label to one of his medications. As you can imagine, I was furious. How careless to show up to a patient 2 1/2 hours late and not even read his chart. My advice stay away from him. I would have given them a negative 5 star if I could. If you really must go there make sure you make an appt. with another doctor. I see why they have a hotel close by. I couldn't find a place to write a review on the website which leads me to believe they screen their reviews. I still haven't paid the bill, I am so mad. I rarely write reviews unless they are good reviews, but this Dr. infuriates me to this day. read more

I was waiting in exam room for an hour. I finally came out to ask if there was a problem. We are waiting on fax of MRI (which I had viewed at home on the CD of my MRI which I gave them). Then they said wrong report was faxed. Then said PA is running late. Then I was told "Please go back to your room". Sherry did not examine me! It did not sound like she ever did get my MRI report either. I told her I have 5 bulging discs but that the pain is in my SI joint area. Also told her my left hip hurts on palpation. So she palpated it and said I had hip bursititis and gave me an injection. There was no exam in regard to the site of my back pain (SI joint area). I was scheduled for an SI joing injection OVER a month post office visit. I have been to many doctors. Also I worked in healthcare for 20 years. The entire visit was very unprofessional. I am going elsewhere for care. read more
