Surgery for full hip replacement [right side] Wednesday 8/27/2025, walked out of hospital same day, back to work five days later, indoor cycle trainer @ [4] weeks, outdoor cycling @ [6] weeks, golf @ [8] weeks, skiing @ [12] weeks. Hip feels great with no complications. Dr. Mitts did both full knee replacements seven years ago and are going strong. He also did a rotator cuff repair which has held up nicely. I'll probably need the left hip done in [3]-[5] years. I'm currently [73] years old and I'll say that without these repairs I'd probably be sitting on a couch somewhere but instead I'm cycling, skiing, hiking, golfing and living the active life I've always enjoyed so thanks to Dr. Mitts and the entire BOA organization along with Berkshire Medical Center and all of their staff. From the first time he saw my X-Rays he was thoughtful, constructive, conservative -- until, after a year, he spotted serious deterioration and thought (my choice...but) at my age and because I'm still active, it would be wise to have knee replaced. On June 1st 2022 I had a complete knee replacement . I was bone on bone for years and finally had enough pain that I couldn't take it anymore. I'm so glad I had it done. The first 2 weeks were very hard. I was in extreme pain but my doctors office perscribed pain meds that help get me through it. I had surgery at 9am and was ready to go home at 3 pm. I was very happy to go home the same day as I feel you recover better in your own home. I was fully recovered in 6 weeks. I need the other one done to and will not hesitate to have Dr. Mitts do that one to. I would highly recommend Dr. Mitts to anyone needing a joint replacement. read more

Dr. Mitts did a fantastic job on my hip replacement. I was walking with only a cane a few days after surgery. In about one week I was walking w/out any assisted devices. I was only out of work for three weeks before feeling strong enough to return. In under three months I am able to resume most of my regular activities. Walking up stairs is no longer a dreaded task. Lifting heavy items is no longer painful. I'm able to wear high heals again! I'm very pleased with the results. read more

If you are over 50 and have hip pain go check to see if you might need this I am 70 and my only regret is not doing it sooner. My advice is use the pain to motivate your recovery and work hard at walking over different terrains. I had a full right hip replaced and within 2 months after the surgery I was walking like I had not had any procedure. read more
