Basically sandwich with turkey sausage, egg, American cheese, on an everything Bagel with Ugly Sauce.
    Adam W.

First time trying Ugly Bagel and definitely impressed. Not a lot of bagel spots around, so was pleased to see a new spot I haven't had before. I ordered the Basically sandwich on an everything bagel, with turkey sausage and added their ugly sauce. The bagel was soft enough to bite through, but still had the chew you expect from a bagel. The items on the sandwich were great. I never would have guessed the sausage was turkey, and the sauce combined with the melted American cheese gave the fat the sandwich needed. I am definitely someone that loves salt, but the added sea salt made the bagel slightly too salty for me. The place was very clean, and they have a display area showing what their bagels and spreads look like. Super helpful for people that eat with their eyes first. They have multiple ordering screens, so the only interaction I had was with the employee that handed me my food, but she was super nice and helpful with a question I had. I will definitely be back to try more bagels and spreads!

Bacon egg and cheese bagel. Amazing!

Absolutely the best bagel I've ever had - and that includes New York. It's soft, chewy, stretchy, flavorful. I had the bourbon pecan schemer. Wonderful! Check out the photo of the bacon egg and cheese - tns of great smoky bacon on jalapeño cheese bagel.

    Bagel and cream cheese

overpriced and inconsistent portions. sometimes it's a mountain of cream cheese, New York style, other times it's nothing. I think when you pay $$$ for your food, you expect quality and consistency. We'd rather drive downtown for something better than this.

Overall we liked the bagel from Ugly bagel. I grew up going to H&H in NYC and Hanks in Toluca Lake/Los Angeles so my bar is pretty high. We tried the Asiago bagel with bacon chive cream cheese. The bagel had a good taste, could be a little more toasted. Also tried the season cranberry walnut with salted butter. I enjoyed the butter more than the cream cheese, the bacon texture could have been better, I will go back and try a different cream cheese flavor next time. Pro tip, there is no seating inside and you order from a computer stand so I recommend just ordering online instead of waiting there. There are tables outside for warmer months but no where to sit while it's cold. Excited to see more bagel spots coming to Franklin.

My confession, this was not my first trip to Crieve Hall Bagel Co. and I have no idea why it's…read moretaken so long to post a review. It's in a small shopping center at the north limits of the Crieve Hall neighborhood. You can normally find a parking spot in the lot or if you know someone in the neighborhood, walking is an option too. Walk in and order at the counter. Be sure to check the available bagels that day AND any specials, especially the cinnamon bun special. Every time I have been, the staff has been extremely helpful as you navigate the choices. (note - there is a separate window outside to pickup online orders, delivery orders etc. so that helps with inside congestion). There is almost always a line but it moves quickly. On my last visit, they had just completed the March Madness bracket and were featuring the Cheddar bagel with chive cream cheese- $1. As I said, always check the special! They will feature some interesting coffees, bagels varieties and let's talk about the Cinnamon Roll. The first time I sampled the Cinnamon Roll special it was a blueberry pancake version, imagine an amazing cinnamon roll(yes, it's sweet but not overly and has great flavor), with blueberries and cream on top! The only downside is they are very large, but that means you get one to share with your people. Their bagels are really good! You can eat them plain or get some spread for them. (note that bulk bagel orders are not sliced). They also have breakfast sandwiches. To top it off, this has the feel of a real neighborhood spot. Plenty of folks greeting each other, friends connecting, families gathering. Indoor seating with books for the wee folks and some outdoor tables too. I understand they have another location but this is original CHBCO. Definitely worth checking it out!

Having enjoyed great bagels over the years in Nashville, as well as on our travels to New York and other places, bagels in general in Nashville just aren't very good. We had high hopes for Crieve Hall when we found it, but our Takeaway evaluation was simply: meh.

The staff were patient and helpful as I asked questions and considered all my options. I had forgotten that they brew Nashville's own 8&R spresso!! Their 16oz drinks come with four shots - coffee lovers like me will appreciate the strength! Most of their syrups are Monin, I think maybe I saw 1 housemade. What really sets this place apart is the charming farmer's market-style vibe. Besides food, coffee and fresh-baked pastries, they offer their own delicious sourdough and focaccia loaves to go, and a very thoughtful selection of local items - like organic Amish eggs ($6/dozen - unreal price right now and I saw they reuse the cartons/place to return them - heartwarming), bone broths, small-batch sauces, and so much more. I loved spotting a whole shelf of Republic of Tea bags, sold individually so you can sample new flavors before committing to a full tin. You can tell everything is chosen with care both in quality and with a community focus. Franklin Bakehouse is one of those places that just makes you feel good the moment you walk in. It def helped to see and pet some pups too (I assume they are welcome as there were some inside when I arrived).

It's a good place to go when you're wanting a fast grab and go with a black coffee. We decided to try the custom breakfast sandwich and got the ham with egg and cheese on sourdough. Overall, the sandwich was tasty. The hot pocket looking pastry was actually great, but the cinnamon peach "French toast" was not the best, it was okay in terms of flavor but overall a little underdone and dry. On top of that, I would say the service was very mediocre. Cashier seemed a little rude, and when leaving we realized no one picked up the order number that needs to be placed on the table once ordered, when trying to return it to someone before walking out everyone was just in a circle talking and no one acknowledged that I was trying to return this table number. So that really was a cherry on top of the environment of this place. Definitely a mid level experience.
