Really great again! We get takeout here frequently, and the medium is all we can handle, though we are spice fiends. We usually get most of the dishes mild plus and one that's medium. The basil fried rice is phenomenal. We tried the papaya salad and panang, and while both were good, we'll probably try something else next time. read more

I've been coming to udon Thai for years, back when they were located in the center across the street. And I'll still say that it is the best Thai food around. They have all the classic (pad Thai, Thai basil, Tom yom) plus plenty of authentic options. And everything I've ever had here has tasted great. Plus this is the only Thai place that brings the heat. Trust me, don't go past medium if you can't take spicy food, but if you're a spice lover this place is heaven. read more

First and last time ordering from this location, we ordered some takeout Pad Thai and ordered it Thai Hot, like we do in every other restaurant. We can handle Thai hot flavor in any restaurant, but this was just straight pepper and spice for the sake of being extremely hot. Not flavorful, just hot. I reasonably called and asked politely if there were any way to get a less spicy replacement and was promptly told no refunds or exchanges. I politely explained that this was in-edible and asked again for a resolution. Keep in mind, I was very civil on the phone. I could hear the manager in the background saying "If they order it Thai hot, they'll get Thai hot" Again..THIS FOOD WAS INEDIBLE. Then they hung up on me. Do not eat here. On my way to Shwarma next door for my usual lunch that I love, I saw in their window 'no msg' which is unusual for a Thai place so I had to stop in. At 1:30 there were just a few tables so I sat and ordered a few dishes to go- all vegan which she assured me was possible- even the soup which she said they could 'make vegan' for me- no fish sauce or chicken broth! How is that possible to negate a whole broth they made for the day and whip one up just for me? Red flag. I also told her I was happy to see they didn't have msg. Her face dropped. She said they have it but only use it upon request. I find this hard to believe anyone would request msg and now believe it's just a marketing ploy. Anyway, once I drove 25 minutes home and tasted the food I knew I'd been had. The soup that I ordered non spicy for my toddlers was beyond spicy and tasted so strongly of fish it could've been called fish soup. Clearly they knew the broth had it in there but just didn't care. The worst part was the pad Thai. It smells and tastes exactly like ammonia. I don't know why or what to do about it but it was so strange that I spit it back out. It scares me that before I tasted these things, I gave some rice and drunken noodles to my girls. How could food taste like ammonia? I don't know, but I don't trust what they're doing and as much as I don't like to totally slam a restaurant (especially a small one that I'd want to succeed) I want to just let you know my experience before you eat there and possibly get sick. read more

This is my first time visit their restaurant after they close and reopen in this new location. We will come back again to try more food! Their plates are gigantic with large portion of food which means that it is good for family style dinner. I've had some pretty solid Thai food in the short time I've been in Denver, but Udom is certainly one of the best thus far. I've had the Pad Gra Pao w/ pork and Pad Prik Khing w/ chicken dishes, and both were very delicious. The Pad Gra Pao was definitely my favorite, as they did the garlic sauce just right and the pork was crazy tender. On the Pad Prik Khing I was a little skeptical of the carrots (not usually in this dish), but they turned out to be a nice new addition. The one thing that stands out to me here is that they actually make spicy...well...spicy. Some other places I've been to like to make assumptions as to what I really mean by spicy, but not here. On the flip side, the one thing that bothers me about Udom is that they give a very small portion of rice to go with your huge portion of main dish. You will likely need more rice, and that'll cost you $1. Seriously? If Capital One can do "50% more cash", I wish Udom could do 50% more rice. Definitely some good food up in here, and I look forward to trying some other dishes. Wish they would replace some of the non-Thai dishes with more Thai dishes, but oh well - seems to be a popular theme here in Denver. Service has been spot on each time. It's been pretty dead here the two times I've been, so go give them a try and some business! Perhaps for lunch, where they have a nice list of their dishes for $6.95. read more

I've heard good things about this restaurant and decided to give it a try! The inside setting and environment is cute and small, but it's still a good size. I was excited to try many of their dishes. The beef jerky that came with sticky rice was pretty good. It had a side of sweet sauce and the level of spiciness could be adjusted to whatever you wanted. We ordered a large tum yum soup as well. The soup was so flavorful and really good! I would highly recommend this with a side of rice. The Rad Na was also good! I liked the flavor of the gravy. I think it would've been nice with a side of rice as well since it was on the "soup-y" side. The Panang curry was also flavorful! However, pad Thai did not meet up to my standards however. They used noodles that reminded me of pho noodles. Very thin. I typically consider the texture of the noodles when ordering food, and the noodles seemed to fall apart. I wasn't a huge fan. It's very important to consider that their spice level is a little spicier than most places. The medium can be quite spicier compared to other places, so please be mindful. It might be a good idea to cool down with mango sticky rice as dessert! read more

So... I have ate here before and the pad thai is very delicious. However, this time around I decided to also try their "drunken noodle" and their "udom basil seafood". I ordered all 3 for take out and pick them up.... The pad thai and drunken noodle are good, but the udom basil seafood, which they state is a house special is lacking. The ingredients they describe in the plate are overstating the meal! Plus... it is NOTHING worth $16. It's a total rip off and looks like someone ate half the meal. I called to just talk to the manager of the overpricing of the dish, she immediately went on a frenzy that no one ever complains about their food and that she does not want my business. I tried to calmly tell her how I love the other dishes and that just the one dish was lacking, but she would not listen and said that she did not want my money and to NEVER come back and hung up on me. I was looking for a place in this area to meet a friend for lunch, & stumbled upon this restaurant on Yelp - I'm so glad I did! This place was amazing, & they don't mess around with their spice! First, I had a hard time deciding what to order as their menu looked amazing - lots of options to fit any dietary preferences - but settled on my usual go-to Thai restaurant dish, Thai Fried Rice with Tofu. My friend ordered the Vege Pad Thai with medium spice, & the waitress stopped her & asked her if she had ever been here before. She replied that she had not, so the waitress gave us the disclaimer that their medium is other restaurants' Thai hot, so that she recommended mild plus if you truly wanted a medium spice level & said she would bring Thai chilies if we needed to add them. I'm glad she gave us this warning, as I was about to order hot - the medium definitely had more of a kick than other Thai restaurants I have been to, & I only had to use a minimal amount of extra chilies in my dish to get the spiciness to my liking. The fried rice was extremely flavorful, & I also tried my sister's pad thai, which was delicious. The ambiance of this place was super nice inside with tasteful decorations. The waitress was very friendly & attentive & seemed to know a lot of the customers in there. 4 stars instead of 5 as this restaurant was a little expensive, but still worth it. If I had to describe Udom Thai, the one word would be anticlimactic. I've had this place bookmarked for awhile and on a not so happening Saturday night, we decided to check it out. It seemed like an ideal time to go, after the dinner rush and walking in it seemed that way. Only a few tables were sat but there were about six dirty tables with everything still on them( pre-bussing, people!) I only saw two ladies running the show the whole time with a lotta chatter in the kitchen from guys. The girl came out very to get our order and seem confused by us asking for water. I stuck with my standard chicken pad Thai medium spice. It didn't too long, which is one of the pluses I can give to this place. The portion was hearty but it lacked spice and the noodles were a little thinner than normally used. I even gave it my test-leftover pad thai is usually better than fresh-and a few days later for lunch it was lackluster. I was thinking about coming back for lunch one day since it's closer to the office but probably won't bother since it's right across the street from Arapahoe HS and too busy in that area. Worst Thai food I've had so far. Ordered pad Thai, which was actually good except for the classic barely any meat that all pad Thai offers. Also ordered Penang Curry and wontons. I'm pretty sure they ran out of Penang sauce and added water to the pan to try to salvage any. It was super thin and separated with half coconut cream on top of water and veggies. Pic below. Great Thai food!! We have gotten a wide array of entrees and they have all been great!! The warnings in the other reviews about the spiciness is no joke!! We got a level 3 last time and it was so spicy!!! I like spicy food and this was HOT. I would recommend getting it very mild with the spice rack in the side. Negatives: 1. Service can be a little slow at time. The place isn't very big and there are usually 2 servers so I'm not sure why it's so slow but it's not a big deal. 2. I didn't realize that paying $9.95 for a dish included a scavenger hunt for my meat of choice. When we arrived, the waitstaff was overwhelmed. While we waited to be seated, another lady walked up with her card in hand and asked "Do we pay up here or do we wait for our check?" She seemed frustrated as we were closely reaching that point. As soon as we received our dishes, the waitress asked "Would you like utensils?" How else am I supposed to eat my dish? Should I use my hands or dig in snout first? We went here on recommendation from other yelpers as well as the general reviews. The place was not packed but the waitstaff seemed rushed. As I sit here in tears from how hot this delicious garlic chicken is, I decided to profess my love for Udom Thai. I got garlic chicken with medium spice. I love hot food and am comfortable with stuff around 1 million Scoville. Normally the medium spice is perfect for me, but they loaded up on this order. Definitely around the 2-3 million Scoville. Be patient with the employees cos it normally takes 30-45 minutes before your food is ready. They cook the food fresh and it's ALWAYS tasty. Good food takes time here. I love this place and will always come here if I feel like punishing myself with spicy delicious Thai! For people who like it less spicy, the Mild + has good flavor and (in my opinion) a small amount of spice. read more

Hit this place for lunch with a coworker. My first Thai experience so I asked the waiter a lot of questions. He was great! I started with a cream tea drink (sorry didn't get the name) but very tasty. I ordered the green curry and really liked it. Great flavor. Eggplant bamboo shoots and I ordered mine with beef. Love that it came with egg roll and soup, rice too! Great lunch price. Usually I'll go here for lunch and having been here several dozen times I'm happy to report that I've never had a bad experience. The food is delicious and consistent. The wait staff is friendly and courteous. They have the spice trays set up just like you would find in your average Thai restaurant in Thailand. I'd like to see them get a liquor license so I can have a Mai Tai with my meal but I'm guessing they can't because they're to close to Arapahoe High School. There is also one other small detail that is missing. Fresh mini-corn on the cob. If there is one thing that could stick out in my mind about eating real Thai food in Thailand, it's the mini corn on the cob. It's always so fresh and packed with flavor. I can't express this enough. Seriously! It's like an explosion of sweet and creamy corn. I have yet to find a Thai restaurant in the states that uses high quality fresh mini corn on the cobs. read more
