I had cataract surgery in with Dr. Devgan last month and I can now add my 5-star review to his many other glowing reviews. I have a lazy eye (amblyopia) which means I only have one good eye. I was apprehensive about doing the surgery so I did many hours of research and had consultations with other highly reputable surgeons. But I found that none of them came close to Dr. Devgan in terms in knowledge and experience. After all, he is The Cataract Coach and has performed over 40,000 surgeries, including many for other ophthalmologists. Plus he spent a great deal of time during my consultation reviewing my images taken in his office, discussing lens options, explaining the surgery process, and patiently answering my many questions. Dr. Devgan loves what he does and his passion is evident when you meet with him. Additionally, everyone on his staff is very pleasant and professional. And Dr. Devgan gives his patients his email and cell number so we can contact him with any questions. I texted him on three occasions and he responded immediately! And in each case, he gave me very thorough answers to my questions. It was very comforting to know that he was always just a text away. I don't know of any other doctor who is so available to their patients. Dr Devgan recommended the Alcon Vivity in both eyes for me and my surgeries went well with no issues. They were both quick and painless and everything went smoothly at the Surgical Center. He came over and talked to me before I went into the operating room which I appreciated. I am very happy with the results. I requested the focus be set at near/intermediate, and I was OK wearing glasses for distance. I use a mild reader for fine print, my intermediate is perfect, and my distance is better than I expected. I can drive in the daytime without glasses, so I just I need them for driving at night. And there is very minimal halos and glare at night; much less than before surgery. I feel very fortunate to have had Dr. Devgan as my surgeon. I will not hesitate to recommend him to my friends and family because I know they will be in excellent and very skilled hands! read more

UPSELLING, and MISREPRESENTATION of Medical Facts to Sell Un-needed Surgeries. Dr. Devgan presented to me photos of my cataract condition, which are "FALSE" images according to Dr. Barry Seibel who authored a textbook on cataract surgery. See the scary purple images from Dr. Devgan which do not even look like someone's eyes. Where is the pupil, let alone the iris? Compare Dr. Devgan's images to the true/correct image of my eye from Dr. Barry Seibel. See the photos ATTACHED to my YELP review. Dr. Devgan had told me that I have 65% cataract condition in both eyes, and gave me incentives to QUICKLY get eye surgeries in both eyes from him. BUT two other prominent ophthalmologists and two optometrists all agreed that I have only a 25% cataract condition in both eyes, which do not require cataract surgeries. Everything is documented in email communications with the ophthalmologists. Then I experienced RUNAROUND in my attempt to get a copy of my medical records which I paid for. I had to make 5 requests over the course of 2 1/2 months via email and faxes - to finally get a copy of my medical records from Dr. Devgan. read more

A surgeon who listens, never pressures, and delivers extraordinary results. My experience with Dr. Devgan was exceptional. As a health professional with over 45 years of experience -- including serving as a Director of Nursing -- I felt completely respected and never pressured. I came in anxious because of a family history of complications, and he never rushed me or pushed me toward anything. He made it clear that I controlled the timeline, whether I wanted to wait or move forward, and he explained every option thoroughly without a hint of upselling. Both of my cataract surgeries went perfectly, and I can see beautifully now. His staff and the team at the surgery center were warm, professional, and clearly held him in high regard. I'm deeply grateful for the care I received. read more

I am Happy with eye surgery I did with Dr Devgan. Now I can see near and far without using eyeglasses any more. Thx

You're truly in excellent hands with Dr. Devgan. He was clearly born to do cataract surgery and lens replacement--anything involving the eye, really. His expertise is obvious, yet he makes the entire process feel effortless. He's cheerful, reassuring, and put me completely at ease from start to finish. His staff is outstanding as well, from the office to the surgery center. I highly recommend Dr. Devgan--he absolutely gets the job done right. Thank you for restoring my eyesight! I had cataract surgery in both eyes with new EDOF (extended depth of focus) lenses with great results. Dr. Devgan has incredible skills. But equally impressive is his bedside manner. If you have the choice to have this Dr. perform Cataract surgery, you need to schedule with him. I personally went out of Network for this surgery, and I would do it again for his expertise. Also his staff treats you like family. Professional and very kind. The staff were fun, patient, and thorough while enrolling me in Dr. Devgan's consults and the inevitable cataract surgeries. I initially went on my optometrist's referral, though I quickly learned that Dr. Devgan has a stellar reputation nationwide -- enough said! That was all the reassurance I needed to proceed with his office as my choice for eye surgery. Dr. Devgan is personable, upbeat, and genuinely seems to love what he was put on this planet to do. I trusted him completely and would wholeheartedly refer anyone to see him and go the distance (pun intended!). You will receive expert care while also being concise, kind, funny, resourceful, and exceptionally knowledgeable! read more

(I'd give 10 if I could!) I recently had a YAG laser treatment on my right eye with Dr. Devgan, and the results are incredible--my vision is now crystal clear! His office is conveniently located near the 405, in a modern building with easy parking. The office is spotless, and the reception staff are friendly, professional, and efficient. Dr. Devgan is not only highly skilled and knowledgeable, but also warm and personable--he explains everything clearly and makes you feel completely at ease. I drove from Ventura to Beverly Hills to see him after learning he's one of the top cataract surgeons in the country, and it was worth every mile. He uses state-of-the-art equipment and delivers results that exceed expectations. If I could give him 10 stars instead of 5, I absolutely would! read more

Dr. Devgan is the best! I have nanophthalmic eyes with narrow angles and oxygen damage and one laze eye all due to being a 2 lb. preemie born at 28 weeks 62 years ago. I was extremely farsighted (+13 & +13.5 in contact lenses) and have worn correction since under a year old. When my eyes started rejecting contact lenses, I moved from gas perms to toric soft lenses. My vision couldn't be corrected better than 20/40. When the soft lenses started to be an issue and I couldn't drive at night. I began researching lens replacement over 10 years ago. I went to 6 specialty surgeons all over the country for consultations and all told me they couldn't help me. One of those doctors referred me to Dr. Devgan. I flew to LA from South Carolina to consult with Dr. Devgan. He seemed confident that he cold help me. I went home and started researching everything I could think of. Not only am I extremely risk averse, I also was afraid of losing the little vision I had. I emailed Dr. Devgan all kinds of questions. He patiently and kindly responded to all of them with his opinions and knowledge. He eventually thought we should schedule a Zoom call so we could discuss the surgery further. He put all my fears at ease and I scheduled to first eye. I still can't believe I actually did it. From my understanding, traditional math used to calculate lens power doesn't work on short eyes, so Dr. Devgan has his own calculation. The next day after that surgery, I was able to easily read the 20/20 line on the eye chart. We went back home and prepared to have the other eye done a month later. He wanted me to wait, so he could calculate how the lens settled on my eye. He also had me get a refraction on that eye, so he could take it into consideration when calculating the other eye. I ended up with a +36 lens in my left eye. After the refraction, he determined that I could have a +33 in my right eye, which allowed him to use a toric lens. I am seeing so well. It is the most amazing thing. I wake up and can see. I'm afraid that I'm gonna stick my finger in my eye, because I am so programmed to think if I can see before going to bed, I have to remove my contacts. I also don't have to panic if I can't find my glasses (which were very thick and magnified) and carry extras in my cars, just incase. If you are considering using Dr. Devgan, I sincerely believe you should go for a consultation. He is top notch and a super nice guy. Confident but not condescending. He is truly one of a kind. Consider yourself lucky to have found him. read more

I recently saw the news about Dr Devgan performing the first human robotic procedure. As usual, it seems Dr Devgan continues to be at the forefront of the field of cataract surgery. He performed my cataract surgery a little over a year ago. Mine was a complicated case because of my retinopathy (I am 69), but in Dr Devgan's magic hands the surgery went flawlessly and the outcome was perfect. I still can't believe how much my quality of life has improved. If you are looking for a cataract surgeon, especially if yours might be a challenging case, you owe it to yourself to look up Dr Devgan. You'll quickly find that this "doctors' doctor" is the Michael Jordan of cataract surgery. Not only that, in spite of his busy schedule, he is one of the most empathetic and responsive medical practitioners I have come across, and I consider myself extremely lucky to have found him. Keep it up, Dr Devgan! read more

My husband recently had his Posterior Polar Cataracts (PPC) successfully removed by Dr Devgan. We couldn't be happier with the results! Unlike me (who had suffered from awful vision / clunky glasses / irritating contacts since I was in grade school) -- my husband was (annoyingly) blessed with 20/20 vision for most of his life. But in recent years, he started going from optometrist to optometrist prescribing stronger and stronger reading glasses for what they assumed to be presbyopia. Finally, after realizing there might be a larger issue at play, we booked an appointment with ophthalmologist who successfully diagnosed the issue as a rare form of congenital cataracts (PPC). Unfortunately, when he did, he also said it was a risky surgery, and one that he would not want to perform. Instead, he recommended us to Dr Devgan, who he said had successfully performed more of these surgeries than anyone he knew in the field. We met with Dr Devgan - and a month later, both my husband's eyes have successfully been treated and he has near perfect vision again (grrrr ha). Here are a few things that we liked about the experience: Dr Devgan is the real deal -- his success rate in this field is incredible. He was happy to go through the risks and their probabilities (which are significantly lower than the industry numbers we read online) and about what the worst-case scenarios could look like. My husband was skeptical at the outset as, while his cataracts were annoying, he wasn't prepared to risk his eyesight to remove them given the failure rates that we had read online. Having listened to him, we were completely reassured and booked the surgery for the following Monday. Dr Devgan explained complex details of my husband's condition and the treatment in very simple terms and if we had any further concerns or questions, he gave us his personal cell to call at any time. He has posted a host of information and videos online detailing anything you might want to know about your condition and the treatment. The surgery was completely painless - we mean ZERO pain. And the whole thing took 5-10 minutes in the operating theatre and my husband was home 30 mins after that. Everything was quick and efficient -- 1-2 days lead time for the initial consultation organized by the uber-friendly office staff. After the initial consultation, we scheduled surgery within a week for the first eye and then the second eye a few weeks after that. Recovery time was fast - my husband was back to working at my PC within an hour or two and while the sight in the operated eye was slightly blurry that afternoon - by the next morning, his eyesight was perfect. All in all, a great experience - thank you Dr Devgan! read more

Dr. Devgan treated my mom like his own mom!! Amazing care!! Listens to a patients input, email. Is humble, kind. Given his giant stature in his field he's an elite doctor in cataract surgery and its a real treat is down to earth. Considerate, kind and always made time to ease our fears or concerns. I RESPECT doctors busy schedule but it's comforting to see if have a genuine concern and email the doctor BOOM he made time!! My mom was legally blind we went to two different doctors before him. Doctor Sebastian in Torrance and Dr lu at Doheny Institute. Both them pricks were very disrespectfull and cold to us and my mom's cataract was soo hard and advanced couldn't be measured lady threw paper shouted bs at lu's appointment, my mom was like what's wrong? Other staff lady said she does that when can't measure eye. We were like what now God? Boom then Dr. Devgan a God sent found on internet, as Dr. Uday Devgan diagnosed my mother, he asked her what time is it? My mom couldnt even see the clock. Legally blind :( Later his assistant Shaun couldn't measure cataract either in 2008 but was polite kind never rude. Dr. Devgan took over measured my mom's eye and went from legally blind to threading needles. Gave us his cell phone number. Called us after surgery see how mom was doing? In 2013 did her other cataract. We are so grateful!! Quality of life he gave our mom wow thank you!!! Our pop is next soon. Before I met with Dr. Uday Devgan, I spent over two years using every eye drop brand on the market that claimed to cure cataracts. Unfortunately nothing worked and my cataracts got worse. The first cataract ophthalmology doctors I consulted did not explain the different types of lenses and how they work. I wanted to understand the types of lenses that were on the market and how they would benefit me. Luckily I found Dr. Devgan's extremely helpful youtube.com videos and all my questions were answered. I made an appointment with him and I now have the best eyesight I've ever had since early grade school. My eye problems were myopia, nearsightedness, a stigmatism and finally cataracts in my later years. I wouldn't have been able to pass the DMV eye test this year if I did not have surgery even with my prescription eyeglasses... When I met Dr. Devgan it was the happiest appointment. I knew I was in the best hands and extremely secure with everything he told me. I was able to understand the lenses I wanted and why. His surgery was well done, completely painless as if I didn't have an operation, I could see extremely well within 24 hours after surgery, and he has the nicest, authentic personality. I feel extremely lucky to have found Dr. Uday Devgan. read more

It was such a pleasure to have Dr. Devgan do my Lasik operation. The actual operation went very smoothly and barely took a couple of minutes! There was minimal pain during the first 12 hours and no pain afterwards. The day after, they tested me and I had 20/20 vision! I'm so grateful to Dr. Devgan for giving me the ability to see without glasses. Dr. Devgan is very knowledgable and experienced. His confidence made me feel at ease throughout the entire process. He was very kind during the consultation and the operation. His office was also able to fit me in really quickly. After the consultation, I was able to get the operation done the week after. Thank you, Dr. Devgan! read more

From my cataract consult appt to the actual surgery itself was nothing but professional and smooth. I checked in for my consult appt and waited no more than 5 minutes before being taken back by Steven for all the necessary testing. Dr Devgan came into the exam room not more than 2min after the tests were completed. He went over the results & explained my options, we then scheduled the surgery date with Jodi, who by the way is hysterical. The surgical center was efficient and on time. Dr Devgan sat with me while I was prepped for surgery. The surgery was so quick and of course painless. My vision is amazing. Now that 2 months have passed since my cataract surgery, I must say, I could not be happier. The precision of selecting the proper implanted lenses for my eyes was from Dr. Devgan's extensive experience. Aside from removing my natural cataract affected lenses, my goal was to be able to read without glasses and see distance pretty clearly. I had been a contact lense wearer for distance, plus I had astigmatism. The Dr prescribed the perfect balance for me to accommodate both near and distant vision clarity. I am extremely happy with my "new" vision. Also, there were absolutely no complications following the surgeries. In a follow-up exam with my Optometrist, he had a hard time finding the location of the incision where the surgery was performed. He was also very impressed with Dr. Devgan's quality of work. I definitely recommend Dr. Devgan based on the quality and very satisfactory results of my cataract surgery, in addition to my earlier comments about the professional staff. I felt very comfortable working with all of them during this process. read more

I was super nervous about getting cataract surgery and put it off for years. When my eyesight got to a point that I could not take it any more, I did a lot of research and found Dr. Uday Devgan while viewing cataract surgeries on you tube. He has a you tube channel called The Cataract Coach" that is really for ophthalmologist to learn from, but to me it was fascinating and I really feel in love with his bedside manner and found that he is one (if not the top) surgeons in the country. Opthamologists will go to him for their own surgeries. He is considered a Dr.'s doctor. He is retired now from teaching at UCLA but is still active in many surgical conferences, teaching other Dr.s etc. He is an amazing instructor, look up his videos! I can imagine he was a beloved instructor for his residents. He has also designed surgical instruments that are used in opthamologic surgeries. Dr. Devgan works out of his private practice in Beverly Hills and a state of the art surgical center nearby to his office. Dr. Devgan was on the other side of the country for me but - it was worth every bit of the trip and effort to come out to California for the surgeries. Your eyesight is for the rest of your life! My local East Coast Opthamologist / Retina specialist is looking forward to checking on my success when I return and is interested in possibly going to him as well ! I have other 2 other family members that are planning on seeing him within a year or two and friends who are also noting my good experience. I cannot say enough good about his care and his skill. Your vision is so, so important! You will not go wrong by trusting Dr. Devgan. read more

It was because of the reviews I've read on here that made me book a consultation with Dr Devgan and believe me, they're all on point and correct. I had a previous consultation from another Ophthalmologists that was recommended by my insurance company and researched Yelp, I wanted another opinion and found Dr Devgan. It was a blessing I did, because of him and his friendly staff, in a 3 week process I now have 20/20 vision in both eyes after his Cataract lens placements. My name is Lorenza and I am 75 years old. I was in serious need of cataract surgery especially in my right eye. The cataract had completely covered my eye and I could not see at all from it. Since I had RK surgery in 1985 I had to make sure I found the best and most experienced surgeon on post-RK patients. After a lot of research I decided to make an appointment with Dr. Devgan. His credentials are very impressive. I sent him an email and he answered me right away. After Dr. Devgan reviewed my medical records he assured me that he would be able to help me. I am presently living in Europe so I had to travel far to have the surgeries done and I am so happy I did. Dr. Devgan is an amazing surgeon. He took time to explain the whole procedure and right away I felt comfortable and sure that I was in very capable hands. His staff are all very effecient, kind and courteous. The day after both my surgeries I was seeing very clear and sharp. I would totally recommend Dr. Uday Devgan. Words cannot describe how grateful I am to Dr. Devgan. Don't waste your time going elsewhere, I did all the homework for you. I am blind in one eye, and had a bad cataract in the other. When you only have one good eye, they advise to wait as long as you can, in case something goes wrong in the procedure, and you risk being totally blind. SO, I did hours of research online. I have a handful of friends and relatives that have had cataract surgery in the last year or so. They all had high recommendations for their doctors, they felt their procedures were successful (but all experienced some minor issues). However, I still did the homework. Someone once said: "If you want to get an A, do your homework". I got lucky. I found Dr. Devgan, and the more I read reviews, visited his website, and watched his outstanding youTube videos, the more enthused I became. Then the pre-op consultation. This man is the best of the best. He's done over 20,000 cataract surgeries, and that's all he does. When I heard he had done the surgery on at least 60 other eye doctors, it just about sealed the deal. But I had to meet him. That sealed the deal. Supremely confident, but not cocky, he instills confidence in you. Extremely nice, enthusiastic, and mostly, knowledgeable. His staff and office is great. My procedure was 3 days ago, it was quick and painless, and I now live in a new world. No minor issues. I can't thank him enough. Dr. Devgan is the best medical professional I've ever come across. But don't trust me... do your own homework, and your stress level will go way down. Thank you again, Dr. Devgan! read more

Dr.Uday Devgan is such a PRO and compassionate about his profession. Dr. Devgan is one of the kindest & most compassionate doctors I have known. He took great care of me, twice. I had two cataracts, in 2018 and 2024. He & his staff are wonderful, helpful, and go above and beyond expectations. What really wowed me about Dr. Devgan was the care he provided my husband, who almost died from a heart infection and numerous complications. One of those complications was developing two horrible cataracts and he could barely see. With his oxygen tank in tow, we went to see Dr. Devgan. His compassionate care for my husband, back in 2017, is still vivid. So much so that when I found out I had a 2nd cataract, I had only one doctor I would call and that was Dr. Devgan. Dr. Devgan did a fantastic job on my right eye and I can see 20/20. I have complicated eye issues- prior lasik in 1999 that regressed, wet macular degeneration in the left eye, PCO in the left eye. I loved his wonderful bedside manner, patience and willingness to address all of my concerns. So I decided to have him do my right eye surgery. He spent alot of time pre-op at the surgical center reassuring me. He hit the target, which was difficult given my eye issues. No signs of PCO. Vision is clear and sharp. My vision was altered surgically by an eye surgeon who misdiagnosed my eye problem and proceeded to surgically implanted the WRONG INTRAOCULAR LENS. Not only was the wrong lens implanted but also the wrong power of the lens that my eye needed. After this initial surgery to remove my cataract, my vision became worse. I could not see clearly at all. My vision was blurry and the first surgeon had no idea how to fix the problem. After a series of further tests I was then led to believe that there was "nothing" that could be done. NOT TRUE. After contacting Dr. Devgan's office and getting a "same day" appointment (his staff being so nice and realizing the angst I was going through), Dr. Devgan diagnosed the problem right away and gave me a solution. He KNEW IMMEDIATELY what was going on and told me very truthfully the course of action that needed to be taken. I WAS SO RELIEVED. Dr. Devgan could help me and I had HOPE, that he could get my vision back.AND HE DID!! He surgically did an intraocular exchange for the wrong lens and put the correct lens into my eye and RESTORED my vision. Dr. Devgan is the THE LEADING cataract surgeon in the United States. He is world renowned. His skills are beyond compare. His patient education is the best. He knew what to do, and he fixed my problem. I was devastated and traumatized by my first cataract surgery. My subsequent two surgeries with Dr. Devgan were like a miracle to me. I would never go to any other doctor for cataract removal. HE IS THE BEST. His office and surgery center are state of the art.
