Dr. Castor is one of the most incompetent doctors you will ever find. Because of his incompetence, he severely damaged my eyes, which in turn badly impacted the quality of my life. And when things went wrong, and I was experiencing severe pain, he didn't care to do anything to fix it. I had to then run to find another specialist to heal what he had caused. Don't let his fancy office fool you, he's most concerned with paying the lease, not in the well-being of his patients. Being told I was a good candidate was so exciting because they gave me hope. I scheduled my operation, and when I went in again, I was welcomed with the same attitude -- a warm environment -- to the point where they felt like my friends. I was extremely anxious leading up to my surgery but Dr. Caster and his staff were very attentive and receptive to all my questions and concerns. I was coming from Ortho-K, overnight hard lens so it took a month for my corneas to return to their original shape. So after years of "thinking" about getting LASIK eye surgery, I finally did it!! What a game changer! I've been wearing contacts and glasses for 20 years now and it never really bothered me until recently. For the last 3-5 years, my vision was starting to get worst and I was getting headaches. Dr. Caster was personally recommended and referred to me which is why I went all the way out to Beverly Hills but I'm happy with my services and glad that I can finally see without glasses or contacts!! Dr Casters staff is really helpful and friendly! They go over everything in a detailed manner and even offer financing. The consultation is $100 which I wasn't made aware of at the time when I called to book the appointment (which would've been helpful), so just an FYI. So I wanted to wait a few years before writing a review because if the LASIK doesn't hold up, what's the point. Plus a lot of the issues they tell you will go away in a year after surgery. I had Lasik in 2016. I spent a lot of time looking and Caster Eye Center seemed to be the best.(although definitely not the cheapest). To get to the point, it's 7 years later and my vision is still 20/20 or very close to it. Had some dry eyes for six months or so after but that went away. My eyes do have some issues post surgery. It immediately and permanently hurt my night vision. None of the halo stuff you sometimes read about, but since the surgery I now need to use my phone light to read menus in darker restaurants. Before the surgery I could make them out by the ambient candle light. Also, it definitely hastened my pace for reading glasses. They tell you that after the surgery you'll be able to read at the same level you had with your contacts. For me this was not the case. After the surgery, I had to hold my phone several inches further back to read it and now finally in my early 40s, time has caught up with me and I'm having to use reading glasses and larger fonts to read. I think without lasik, I could have gotten away with another five - ten years without reading glasses, so something to consider. Also, they tell you can go back to work the next day, but if you use computer screens, I would recommend taking several days off. I couldn't see anything on the screen the next day. It was so bad, I thought the surgery had gone wrong. It cleared up on its own within a few days, but definitely was not fun trying to work during that. So if you're reading this because you're going to do LASIK for sure then I think Caster is a great choice. I think he did as good as job as possible and there are just some inherent downsides/risks to LASIK to consider no matter how good your Doctor is. If you're wondering if you should get LASIK at all then that's a bigger question. In my experience, there are some issues and I would definitely wait for several years for your vision to stabilize because it will wear off. I went to Caster in my mid 20s and they told me I was a good candidate because my vision was stable for a year, but when I went to actually do the surgery five years later my vision had gotten .5 and .75 worse so glad I waited. Anyway, they're good, but ultimately they are salesman as this is an elective surgery, so keep that in mind. read more

PERFECT! LONG LASTING EYE HEALTH!! ! I had lasix surgery 12 years ago and he was PERFECT. I used to wear corrective lenses in both eyes, but one eye was fairly weak lens prescription. Therefore, they told me that if they correct my eyes Io "mono-vision" , (which means one eye is under corrected and the other is over corrected, so you can see both near and far) ... then they'd only have to do the lasix on ONE eye. That saved me a lot of money, ... they could have easily taken my money and did correction on both eyes but they volunteered this method and told me of it's benefits for both near and far, AND the cost savings. I was impressed! Also since I was age 44 at the time, they DID forewarn me that eventually I may need "reader cheaters" for up close since that's inevitable after age 50, no matter what, BUT he did such an excellent job that to this day, I'm STILL GLASSES FREE, contacts free, and I show off when I read very very fine print. I couldn't be more happy with Dr. Caster. So for 12 years I can see everything, which pisses my kids off because I can see spots on the dishes that they missed washing. Haha. read more

I had had it with my glasses and contact lenses back when I was in my 20s and living/working in Los Angeles in the late '90s. I had been wearing glasses since second grade. I had contact lenses, but summer allergies in LA were making them impossible to wear. Today was my post-op day and I have 20/20 vision! Dr. Caster and his entire team are awesome! Laura is a star - really personable, and she makes you feel so comfortable. Dr. Caster is very knowledgeable and sweet. He's recognized as a top Lasik surgeon in the country, has been doing this for years, and even wrote a book about Lasik, which I got a free copy of. They have different options, and for every one of them, top of the line technology. My procedure was quick, painless, and easy. Make sure you follow post-op instructions, as the first few hours are crucial. Once the numbing eye drops started to ware off, it felt as if I was maybe cutting onions? But they had provided me with multiple eyes drops, including a "comfort solution" that gave me instant relief, and after getting sleep, I was fine. I suggest having someone come with you to help on that first day. My husband came with me, and now he's scheduled his own procedure with them too. Haha! Get some sleep as soon as you can after, and you'll wake up feeling great! Currently, there's some blurriness in my super close up vision (like, in my face) that may or may not clear completely, but I'm of age to maybe need reading glasses. Also, this is discussed beforehand, and you are offered the mono-vision option as a solution, which just wasn't for me, or at least not right now (it can be done later). I am extremely happy with my decision. My vision wasn't terrible, but enough to be annoying and get in my way. I hated dealing with both contacts and glasses due to random issues, but now I don't have to! Everything is clear! I suggest using their financing option over Care Credit, which promised me something they didn't deliver on (CC). Dr. Caster's staff not only gave me space to deal with my stressful calls to Care Credit in their office (I feel bad, cause it has nothing to do with them), but they offered me a better solution for financing. Just some really great people! I say figure out how you'll handle payment way before your procedure so that stressful phone calls to third parties don't get in the way of your fun experience, because honestly, that's what Lasik in this office was, FUN, and this coming from an extremely anxious person! They just put you at ease. :) Seriously, everyone in their office makes you feel special, from reception, to all of their techs and staff. I feel privileged that I was able to come here. Don't go to some discount place. I shopped around first, which I do recommend, but your eyes deserve the best care, and in my opinion, this office is it. I had SMILE vision correction ("flapless LASIK") with Dr. Caster two weeks ago, and it was such a good and easy experience. I had 20/20 vision the very next day, and although there was a little blurriness while it was healing (this is normal), my eyes healed very quickly. Some people get dry eyes from vision correction but it's less likely to happen with SMILE, and I have not had dry eyes or any complications. It also seems to have helped my seasonal allergies so far to not have to wear contact lenses! SMILE is best with a cautious and skilled surgeon like Dr. Caster, but my experience as a patient felt very simple. You lie down and stare at a green light for 25 seconds, and then you look at a bright white light for about a minute, and then you repeat for the other eye, and that's about it. I was able to see well enough immediately after to order an Uber and walk outside. I wore sunglasses on the ride home and slept for a few hours and when I woke up, I could see clearly for the first time in my life. Absolutely awful and humiliating experience. Dr. Caster spent a total of ten minutes with me, and attempted to tentatively diagnose me with something I didn't have. He even tried to recommend I get a procedure done that I didn't even need. That could have been dangerous. He dismissed me coldly, and then told me I was not eligible for any procedure. Well, Dr. Caster, you were 100% wrong. I was indeed eligible for PRK, and got my procedure last week. Thankfully, I found a professional who had actual knowledge of what they were talking about. My vision is already improving quickly, and I am pleased. This doctor may be someone that a lot of people have good luck with, and that is lovely. He treated me like garbage. When I did complain, he had his office manager call me. He should have called. No way would I want a cold and rude individual like this treating me! Keep in mind that I was an actual consult in July. I HIGHLY recommend Dr. Caster for Lasik. I did ALOT of research on the top lasik doctors in LA and narrowed it down to 2. I went in for free consultations to both and choosing Dr. Caster was a no-brainer! Valet parking is easy and validated, the office is extremely nice and peaceful. Everything was thoroughly explained to me- procedures, tour of laser room, different kinds of laser options, etc. I basically could not see a thing with my poor vision near or far and had astigmatism. I qualified for All-lasik. What finally sold me was his bedside manner and post-op coverage. 18months free touch-ups if needed and if you get your yearly eye exam at the office then touch-ups are covered indefinitely. I was well aware that because of my poor vision there is a greater chance for touch-ups in future so I wanted to choose a doctor who could really take care of me post-op if needed. He also gives you a book on lasik which he wrote. I read through it before surgery day and felt even better for choosing to go with Caster. His knowledge and expertise is undeniable. His office is clean and organized and modern. The equipment and set up is meticulously. He tests for everything. The day of the procedure, I was taken care of the whole way. His technical staff were great and answered all questions. The procedure was truly painless. Instructions and after care were clear and very helpful. I went from having terrible distance vision to being able to see without any contacts or glasses in 1 day. I did all the follow up visits which were great. After a few months we decided to do a touch up as there was some small level of clarity that needed fixing. We did some more follow up and good consultations, and decided to go at it again. It was a minor correction but we decided it would be worth it. The second time was faster and smoother. The staff and Dr. Caster were fantastic. There was no judgement or bad sentiments. I was cared for the second time just like a new guest. My vision is perfect and the healing is easier than the first. I've learned so much through this processes and really appreciated the help and attention to detail from everyone at the office. I was never just a number. Dr. Caster is a Master Class in Eye LASIK surgery. He's a pioneer in the field. You will be in great hands from start to finish. We could not be more pleased with our decision to choose him for my daughter's LASIK surgery. On our first appointment he explained everything in detail and with patience. He sensed our anxiety and was a true gentleman in answering all our questions. His staff were all so attentive, polite and nice. There is such a good vibe and energy in that office. I splurged and got Lasik in Fall 2006. BEST DECISION EVER. My hubby researched all the top Lasik doctors and we met with a couple. I was extra comforted when we saw that some of Dr. Caster's clients included top athletes and celebrities. After comparing their rates with other, it was a clear decision. Their Lasik rate included lots of pre and post exams/treatment. I also appreciated how much information they gave me and how extensively they prepared me so I had reasonable expectations. ALL the staff were exceptional. Their equipment is top notch. The entire experience was wonderful. As mentioned, the pre-Lasik exams were super thorough, the actual Lasik surgery was problem free. They even handed me a soft animal friend to hug while I was getting Lasik. Literally the first thing I saw when I was done was the clock at the far side of the room which had been a blur when I had entered. The recovery was exactly as they described. Easy. No issues. Just follow the directions. The month after the procedure I had 20/20 vision!!!!! WHOOO HOOO! While I was pregnant (three years after the procedure) I did notice my vision wasn't as sharp. This is normal as sometimes pregnancy can affect vision. I had hoped after delivery my 20/20 would return... and it did. It's now 8 years later, I've retained 20/25 vision... which is incredible for me as my vision has been terrible since second grade. They also did follow up exams just to be sure the surgery was holding and to check on the health of my eyes. I cannot recommend Caster Eye Center enough. I have raved about this decision for years and am so happy to get to Yelp it because I think it has improved the quality of my life. Trust me and go get evaluated.
