But, we always dreaded these visits for their brusque transactional experience and because we couldn't trust she was paying any attention. Our last visit she gave 2 of our 3 kids a typhoid shot because we were traveling WITHOUT consulting us as parents - one of our kids is 18, so it is his choice but he would have liked to ask us. The other is 16, which requires parental approval. And why not give it to our 3rd child if it was so threatening??? They did happily send us the full bill for it as it is not covered by insurance, even though they told us it was. We brought up an issue in our daughter's health and the next thing we knew we had been referred out to a neuro. But there was never a conversation about the referral with the doctor. Dr. Dana NEVER called us to inform us we would be contacted by Stanford. We overheard a young mother with her first baby explaining to the staff that she was uncomfortable giving a third COVID booster to her baby, because the studies are inconclusive on the risks. The person in the front office treated this woman like she was on crack - OF COURSE you should give the third booster to your child. It was a gross overstep. Any parent deserves understanding that get to make different choices I cannot recommend this practice. It just feels like a cattle call with a doctor and staff who stopped caring long ago.

Every pediatrician we have seen in the practice is extraordinary, from their education to their experience, to their bedside manner, to how they interact with young children and their parents. The front office staff is thorough and efficient, we never had to wait more than a few min to be seen. We have always been accommodated day of for sick day visits and our doctor immediately follows up if we had to go to urgent care when they were not available. We are so grateful for how quickly and adeptly they developed their guidance and vaccine clinic during Covid. Having to go see another practice was one of the hardest things about leaving SF!

She was confirmed to be negative for strep but when I asked if this may be a flu, she said no antibiotics needed as this is a virus. Two days later, my youngest got the same symptoms and so did their cousins( we all were on a family gathering prior to my daughter getting sick). BUT! Cousins were tested for a flu (which we were not offered, despite my specific question about it), in another clinic and then were prescribed Tamiflu. Cousins now are feeling so much better. When I called the clinic, the rep said I need to go buy a test from a pharmacy, check if we also have a flu and if confirmed to make another appointment to be able to get the medication. Really?! I will have to buy a test now , pay for previous appt (10 min), pay for another appointment and then pay for meds when it could have been avoided, had the doctor spend more than 7-10 min. It's sad watching your kiddo being sick for soon to be a week and to have to tell them to tough it up when there is always a better option.

The doctors seemed more concerned with being right than truly understanding our concerns and speaking to us as new parents with empathy. They were cold and never seemed to remember our child or discussions in our previous visits. When our child was born, one doctor told us it was unsafe to take them outside for a walk for the first 3 weeks because they could get germs from others. Not to mention they charge for providing immunization records for preschool/school, releasing medical records to you ($25), if you forget your vaccine record. I never got the sense they care about their patients. It's night and day with our new pediatrician, who is warm and goes above and beyond for our child. This is your warning - choose a different practice!

I'm so glad he helped me navigate through the normal childhood issues like vaccinations (yes, and on the recommended schedule!) and rotavirus. And nothing beats Langston's gentle demeanor that calms both little babies/toddlers and tired and often worried new parents. But around age 8 or 9, many children including mine need varying resources a small practice like Langston's isn't set up to easily manage. Bigger kids mean bigger problems: They might be grappling with parents getting a divorce, anxiety, peer pressure, bullying in school, lack of focus, prepubescent changes in both body and mind. UCSF has a team approach whether you're there for a simple well child check-up or need a referral for a specialist, a nutritionist or social worker who can work with your child's school if he needs more support or another person besides you to go to bat for him. There's a whole layer of solutions-oriented doctors, nurses and specialists right there on staff so it lessens the onerous running around and insurance approvals all-too-common in medicine. And, you have access to UCSF's MyChart that lets you communicate online with doctors, request refills, send/receive messages and make or change appointments. It's streamlined and lets you avoid missed calls and frustrating delays. I absolutely recommend UCSF for your child. You'll know when (or if) making that change is good for your child. Yes the building is not remodeled and they use paper files, but all we want is good care and an attentive pediatrician. That is exactly what you get here. We are mainly with Dr. Elizabeth, and she takes her time to stay with us the full 30 minutes. Does not rush us out of there and is extremely attentive and friendly. We also had visits with Dr. Anne and Dr. Tan, both of which were great and we wouldn't mind working with any of them. The front desk team have been always welcoming and the response times of phone/email have been reasonable.

UCSF explains it as one bill for the facility and a separate bill for the physician. This was a basic 15-min visit. Dr's Tang and Huie were incredibly supportive through an otherwise very scary time and have been so great to work with from day 1. While I was recovering in the hospital, Dr. Tang stopped by to check in on me and ask about my son, even though he was in the NICU and not with me. She could not go into the NICU due to COVID but followed all updates in his chart and called me throughout my 6-day hospital stay to see how things were progressing and answer any questions. While this may not seem that notable, her proactiveness during my c-section recovery and hospital stay was such a lifesaver. I didn't have the energy or wherewithal to pick up the phone to dial her but I inevitably had questions every time she called. Since bringing my son home, we've worked closely with both Dr's to get my son his proper vaccinations and work through all newborn concerns. They are super responsive, patient, and experienced. I've never once felt rushed out of their office or off the phone. They are thorough and, in my opinion, that is critical in healthcare. Dr's diagnose/treat based on information - asking questions then listening to patients could make a life-altering difference. That attention can be hard to find these days as everyone seems to be in a hurry. I am so grateful to have found them!
