I'm now 22 and still see Dr. Aicardi to this day. She has been my pediatrician since I was a baby. She has a wonderful personality and is very patient and kind to her patients. I've never had an issue with her. The new office is quieter and the waiting area seems larger - no toys for kids though. The private rooms are definitely larger and very nice. My favorite room was the Giants Mickey Mouse room! (Room 3?) Thanks for always taking wonderful care of my sister and I, Dr. Aicardi! :) read more

I've spent years at this group in Mill Valley and I can no longer stay quiet about it. Dr. Dana does not seem to care about the child right in front her. It's box check, box check, get out quickly, on to the next cattle call. We are not an overly sensitive family, nor are we helicopter parents. But, we always dreaded these visits for their brusque transactional experience and because we couldn't trust she was paying any attention. Our last visit she gave 2 of our 3 kids a typhoid shot because we were traveling WITHOUT consulting us as parents - one of our kids is 18, so it is his choice but he would have liked to ask us. The other is 16, which requires parental approval. And why not give it to our 3rd child if it was so threatening??? They did happily send us the full bill for it as it is not covered by insurance, even though they told us it was. We brought up an issue in our daughter's health and the next thing we knew we had been referred out to a neuro. But there was never a conversation about the referral with the doctor. Dr. Dana NEVER called us to inform us we would be contacted by Stanford. We overheard a young mother with her first baby explaining to the staff that she was uncomfortable giving a third COVID booster to her baby, because the studies are inconclusive on the risks. The person in the front office treated this woman like she was on crack - OF COURSE you should give the third booster to your child. It was a gross overstep. Any parent deserves understanding that get to make different choices I cannot recommend this practice. It just feels like a cattle call with a doctor and staff who stopped caring long ago. read more

We couldn't be more satisfied with the quality of care our children received at GGP and couldn't recommend them higher. Every pediatrician we have seen in the practice is extraordinary, from their education to their experience, to their bedside manner, to how they interact with young children and their parents. The front office staff is thorough and efficient, we never had to wait more than a few min to be seen. We have always been accommodated day of for sick day visits and our doctor immediately follows up if we had to go to urgent care when they were not available. We are so grateful for how quickly and adeptly they developed their guidance and vaccine clinic during Covid. Having to go see another practice was one of the hardest things about leaving SF! read more

Always answer the phone, find time to see your kid. This is old school medical care: focused, take the time, go the extra mile, like when us parents were kids. read more

I couldn't be more grateful for such a responsive and caring team at GG Pediatrics. Our pediatrician is Dr. Parker but whenever there's been an emergency the nurses, the team and any other Dr there have been quick to get us in and get my daughter assessed. Luckily I live only 10 mins from the office but if we ever have to move I'll make sure it's not far from them. Being a FTM is hard and it's a world full of unknowns but being looked after by GG has made the road easier. So happy we are with them and recommend the practice to anyone looking for care for their family. read more

Overall 3 stars: I miss my the staff from UCSF China Basin. They were kind, on top of scheduling and not condescending. I understand that there is a shortage of pediatricians in the city, but being rude doesn't solve anything. Front desk staff: 2 stars The front desk staff is the rudest I've ever encountered. They can't be bothered and do not have any answers to anything. When trying to transfer to Golden Gate Pediatrics from UCSF I was told very firmly they needed all my son's medical records before accepting him. I sent said records, I completed all paper work. I was then asked 2 more times if I completed the asks. It was only after I gave a firm, I've completed every document asked of me that they finally pulled up the info and verified that yes, I had sent the paper work. They also are not great with scheduling. UCSF staff would automatically help you schedule appointments. This staff claims victim-hood and that they don't know schedules 6 months out and can't possibly schedule but, oh, you can wait to get a reminder that it is time to schedule your appointment, but by the way it is going to be weeks after you are supposed to go because, oops, they are already booked. Expertise/Doctor experience: 4 stars - Dr. Hume is an expert in her area, she knows what to look for and is patient in answering all your questions. read more

Dr. Rosenberg pays attention to details, is always patient with my questions, and takes the time to explain the facts behind her decisions (and to offer alternatives routes when they exist). I trust her fully and feel extremely grateful for her care. read more

We have been a happy patient at Golden Gate Pediatrics. We moved to San Francisco and before then we have been to different pediatric clinics in different cities with great experiences. I was relieved to have found Golden Gate Pediatrics. We absolutely love our pediatrician but have had good experiences in general with other doctors in the practice for sick visits. They also can get us in for sick visits in a timely manner if necessary. This is a well run practice with great doctors. read more

I am saddened by what happened last Friday and wanted to share it with all of you. My 3 year old has been sick for the last 3 days running a high fever that Tylenol hasn't been helping with for the first time. On Friday we were really worried and called our pediatric office to ask for an umergency appointment. I was told that we owe $250 and unless the amount is paid my sick child would not be seen. I was just furious!! My child needed care and help right there and then. Instead I have received a rude front desk person followed by a manager who confirmed the same. This was just ABSURD! The least you need when your child is sick hear about bills or have someone bargin with you! This is something the office never accounted correctly for and kept charging to the incorrect insurance. I don't even feel like explaining any more! Today I was proven that this is not my daughter's doctor. We ended up going to an urgent care and then were sent to USCF. I would never ever bring my child to Golden gate pediatrics despite the fact that we have been with them since My daughter's birth! read more

I have been coming to this pediatricians office ever since I was a baby. I will now be leaving as I am now 22 years old (I have taken the hint that I need to find an adult doctor now haha) but have had great experiences with retired Dr. Gonda and recently Dr. Rosenberg. Both were amazing, knowledgeable, and friendly, and I have never been uncomfortable around them, even at a young age. I will agree that the office space and patient rooms are very small, but this does not particularly takeaway from the good healthcare experience I have each time. read more

We saw Dr. Dawn Rosenberg at Golden Gate Pediatrics. She's a tiny woman packed full of baby knowledge! When we had trouble getting our little person to gain weight, she knew what to do! That next week, our baby gained a whole POUND! If I were to gain that same ratio in one week, I would weigh 16 lbs more by next Friday. I had better start in on the ice cream. Parking is tough, but the office is directly across from CPMC and all of the baby-related businesses up on California Street. Worth the drive around the block to find a spot. Four stars because the office is a bit crowded and feels cramped. Especially if there are sick children in the waiting room while you're carrying a three day old baby. read more

Damn that Dr. Dawn that makes me stay at a place that drives me crazy! Dr. Dawn is so good that I put up with GGP and their rude office staff that never smiles and puts me on perma-hold every single time I call, a physically depressing office space (especially for a pediatrician's office), a parking lot that scares me and is impossible to navigate with a double stroller, and 2-month wait times to get appointments. Damn you, Dr. Dawn for being so straight-forward, direct, knowledgeable, and reasonable in your approach to raising children. Your great perspective keeps me coming back to GGP in spite of myself. 4 stars for Dr. Dawn, 1 star for all other things GGP. read more

Being 21 and going to a pediatrician is pretty awkward, but Golden Gate Pediatrics always comes to the rescue when I have an emergency. I see Dr. Piel and she is always so helpful and kind. The past two times that I've been here, were for 'emergency' reasons and I called and was seen that SAME day. Dr. Piel always diagnosis me correctly and always asks about my life and genuinely cares. I guess I only have 4 more years of going here. haha. pretty sure everyone else thinks I'm the mom with a newborn baby... read more

We love GGP. We were really sad when Dr. Piel retired. She was amazing. The only exception is Dr. Paul Silvestri. This doctor has bedside manners that are better suited for treating livestock. He shouldn't be working with children. He's got an ego bigger than the door jam. He's on a power trip. He is abrupt with our child, doesn't listen to our questions, and even caused an aversion in our child going to doctors. She screams bloody murder at home begging not to see the "mean doctor". She has no issue with Dr. Parker or Dr. Kwan-they are amazing. Unless it's an emergency I highly recommend avoiding Dr. Silvestri like the plague/pandemic. read more

We see Dr Dana at Golden Gate and she is amazing. I know sometimes they are limited on the new patients they take, but if you can get in here, do it! We've been seeing Dr Dana since we had our first baby last year and I've never had more personalized service from a doctor. She is the type of doctor that calls us to check in, always makes room for us when we need to see her and spends as much time as needed with us when we're in the office. I've never had to wait more than 5 minutes past my appointment time and never felt rushed out of the office. I've even hung out there for over an hour with my newborn because we needed to feed him before we left. As a new parent finding a pediatrician that makes you feel comfortable with the scary world of parenting, lets you parent in the way you want but also can find a way to communicate hard to hear news in a soft way is more than I could ask for in a doctor. I don't know if she's accepting new clients but if she is I would absolutely try to get into here, I couldn't imagine my baby seeing anyone else. As a side note: she does spend her time in the two locations so she's only in the SF office on Mondays and Wednesdays. I was a little concerned this would be inconvenient but it hasn't been a problem at all. She's always able to fit us in on the days she's in SF and when she's not, she's more than accessible by phone if we call the Mill Valley office. read more

Dr. Lisa Dana is our pediatrician for our son and daughter, and WE LOVE HER!!! Dr. Dana has been seeing our son since he's been 18 months old, and now he is 6 1/2 years old. Our daughter has been with Dr. Dana since she was born; now, she is almost 3 years old. She treats our children with such gentleness and patience; furthermore, she always makes time to listen to our concerns as parents, which is an A+ in our books!! What we also love about her is that she is very pro-active and up-to-date when it comes to the most current pediatric information regarding children's health. I highly recommend her; my kids highly recommend her too!! Dr. Dana is only at the SF office twice a week; however, they have plenty of wonderful pediatricians at their office in case of emergency visits. My kids have seen Dr. Aicardi, Dr. Piel, Dr. Rosenberg, Dr. Schultz, and Dr. Silvestre over the years for emergency visits; they are great to our kids! The front staff, the nurses, and the medical assistants are good, but Dolores at the front desk is amazing!! Whenever I need to get a referral or medical forms to be filled out, etc, ....she is always there to make sure the job gets done promptly and efficiently. My only cons are 1) parking is very limited. Their parking lot is tiny so you need to resort to street parking or the big parking lot behind Starbucks at the Shopping Center; 2) the rooms are a bit outdated, small, and drab (as if the decor is stuck in the 70's) in the main clinic, but they have another office next to the main clinic which has bigger rooms and more open space. read more

We come here for both our kids and they are great! Very caring kind people and if we need to get in fast they are very accommodating! A ton of great docs especially Dr. McMahon! We love her! read more

Dr Dana has seen my son since he was born, 16 years later we still love her! The practice is great and we've seen most of the doctors for last minute "I think he has strep" or "what's this weird rash" office visits and they're all great doctors! The advice nurses are super helpful and they make room for you to come in quickly when you're having that new mom panic attack or even the been-there-done-that moment years later and you think you're a pro parent. read more

I hesitate to give this a 1-star review because Dr. Aicardi is a good doctor and we like her. Unfortunately, the staff she hires to take care of her patients are very low quality. Today, my son was given the wrong immunization shot that should have been given to his sister. When I caught the mistake I requested a different nurse come in to administer the shot to my daughter. As the new nurse walked in she requested my son by name to sit up on the table and get the shot. I asked if she was trying to be amusing and but she declined and again asked him again to sit down to get his shot. Once is a mistake, twice is a quality problem with the staff and who is hiring them. What I wonder is how many mistakes these people make that parents don't catch. read more

I started taking my son to Dr.Tracy McMahan in December of 2014. First impression of the office is not the best.. DR. McMahan is AMAZING! So sweet, professional, and an overall WONDERFUL PERSON AND DOCTOR! FRONT OFFICE STAFF-are rude, inattentive, disorganized, harsh, and non-friendly. They have no people skills, or customer service skills. THIS IS A PEDIATRICS OFFICE!!! NOT THE MORGUE! The MEDICAL ASSISTANTS/NURSES-are sweet, professional and very gentle with my son. The front office/reception staff need to be retrained!!! read more

So grateful for Golden Gate Pediatrics! They are always thoughtful, kind and loving. You never have to wait long for an advice nurse and grateful for the knowledgeable doctors. Top notch! read more

Don't worry that they are not taking new patients. Dr Ernster told me that my 2 year old boy was obese and sent me to a dietician. The dietician disagreed completely. Fast forward 3 years, my son is not in anyway obese in fact he is 99% height and 75% weight. I am glad we changed from Dr Ernster to another doctor. It is hard to get appointments. It's hard to get "fit in" for a sick visit. read more

I absolutely love Golden Gate Pediatrics - especially Dr. Aicardi. When my son was in the PICU with RSV, she stopped by to visit him each weekday that he was in the hospital and kept in close contact with the attending at the hospital. This was really reassuring when we were determining his aftercare. The attending at CPMC's PICU told me that his children went to Golden Gate Pediatrics and that most of the doctors at CPMC who have children also chose the practice for their children. I think that is recommendation enough. The one drawback is that they are very busy - so you may be on hold for 5 minutes or more. But to me, it's worth it to see a good doctor! read more

My daughter sees Dr. Dawn Rosenberg. Dr. Rosenberg is by far the best doctor in San Francisco. She is full of knowledge. She is very patient with my baby. She knows exactly what to do when the baby is cranky or sick. She can just soothe the baby in one second. As a first time mom, I had a lot of questions. She understands our anxiety and ALWAYS has time to explain things in a way that we, non-medical professional, understand. She returns call very quick and efficient. She is such a warm doctor. Both my husband and I feel so lucky our kid has such a good doctor. I will recommend Dr. Rosenberg to any parents. read more

Just got a call saying that they charge $25 to send medical records. That's absurd, but they're giving me no choice since I need those records. I was pretty happy with them, but needed to switch to a closer practice. Now I'm VERY glad we're leaving!! read more

Very knowledgeable and has a great bedside manner. It's our first child but not our first time around infants either due to relatives with children or direct experience in caring for sick children as medical professionals. If it wasn't in San Francisco, the parking would be considered tight but there isn't really any easy parking anywhere in the city. The few times we've called, the call was more businesslike than hand holding but that's ok with us. I have recommended her to fellow medical professionals who are expecting. read more

Such a wonderful practice of thoughtful, knowledgeable and nice pediatricians. We have always been seen on time. Dr. Rosenberg is wonderful and great with kids. When she is nit available we gave seen others who are equally as talented. Love the advice nurse line and the evening/night phone line. So helpful and a great resource during off-hours when kids always seem to get sick. The only reason I did not give it 5 stars is that the offices are tiny and crowded, but that really does not seem to have any impact on the care kids get here, so probably not even worth mentioning... read more

On the phone nurses are very rude. After you have seen a the Doctor, they never follow up wth you after regarding your child's illness.

I called, they asked when my due date is, I told them, then they said they weren't accepting new patients. So my question is, why ask when my due date is if you're not accepting new patients? read more

not accepting new patients.....need to update their web page to say this so that people DON'T waste their time calling! they should also add it to YELP. read more

This is a wonderful practice. I have been taking my kids here for the last 11.5 years. Dr. Piel is our main pediatrician and is great, but we have seen everyone over the years and have been happy. Today our 21 month old spiked a fever. We called, spoke to the advice nurse, and were given an appt within one hour. We waited about one minute in the waiting room before we were called to an exam room. We saw Dr. Meghan Gould (fantastic) who brought her fever down with medication in the office, and did a thorough exam and a flu test. We were very relieved about the timeliness and thoroughness of the exam and our little one already looks better. Thankful! read more

I cannot say enough wonderful things about Dr. Lisa Dana. She's been our primary pediatrician for our baby girl since her birth. It's been a very tough season and baby girl has been sick 7 times in a matter of 4 months. Every single time, without exception, no matter who ends up seeing our girl (whether it's an after hours clinic or another GG pediatrician--all are great too btw--) always ALWAYS Dr Dana calls or makes a personal appearance to ensure our baby girl is ok. I've never met a more thoughtful, organized, professional, caring and wonderful Dr EVER. Dr Dana also has the magical ability to just make you feel at ease with her calm confidence and demonstration of her vast knowledge. I wish we could take Dr Dana with us after we move! read more

5 stars for Dr. McMahan. She's a wonderful doctor who is very personable and knows her stuff. Only complaint is that they have a $25 fee to get your own medical records. It looks like medical practices are beginning to act like airlines, finding a new way to make money through fees that never existed before. read more

Best pediatric office in the bay area! They may not be taking new patients but thats only because they are so fabulous that no patients ever want to leave. The nurses always have an answer to my questions and are very caring. Front desk ladies are always friendly! read more

My son is almost 13 and Dr. Dana gave him his first exam when he was only a few days old and we've never looked back. I love the practice and the doctors (I think my son has seen them all at some point) and the nurses and the staff. I realize they're busy so I know they don't smile all the time (per other comments), but I usually crack a joke and they all laugh....again, they're just busy. Never had a nurse give a wrong shot, they always double check chart, and always repeat the dr's orders to me. I always feel I'm part of the discussion and no one rushes us out. Dr. Dana always does my son's annual visit and while we may see a different dr during a "same day" appointment, we see Dr. Dana quite a bit. I really like them all, trust them, and so what if the building is kinda old, its San Francisco for goodness sakes. If you want brand new, go to the burbs. I'd rather have a crappy office and an amazing doctor....not the other way around. read more
