FREE tire pump and water tank refils in lot 30, I love it!! It is very easy to become aggravated when things don't go your way, but my experience with TAPS has been decent and fair. I have gotten multiple tickets from TAPS for parking in a section too long. While some TAPS officers are dicks and still ticket people who go are only 5 minutes over the time limit, hey, they are just doing their job. UCR is actually pretty considerate in terms of parking for guests. For example, the paid parking spaces by Glen Mor or lot 4 allow you to add to the parking time limit through an app. Therefore, there should be no excuse when you get cited for going over the limit. TAPS has even repealed 1 or 2 of my citations because I sent them a polite email regarding my situation. The actual office staff has always been helpful to me. While some staff seem like they completely dread being there and show it in their conversation at the kiosk, they get the job done. If you are not dumb and actually follow the rules that the school set up, you will not have any issues with TAPS. You are not doing an act of "justice" to you or anyone else if you deliberately choose to not follow these rules because you don't agree with them. If you compared our situation to the parking situation and "TAPS" at other UCs, you will be way more appreciative of what our school offers. read more

This is the worst, most greedy, filthy organization you will ever run into in your life. I received a ticket while having a gold permit for parking in a lot that has allowed gold at night for 3+ years. All of sudden, they change rules without notifying anyone and left a ridiculous piece of shit ticket on my windshield. So I appealed, and they denied because they are building a parking structure and they were seeking ways to ROB students of their money, through UNREASONABLE parking tickets and raised parking permit prices. I appealed again to their supervisor who had said I had explained the situation very clearly and he said he understood, yet it was denied because TAPS needs money. Hey COVID cut off their income, so they're jumping at every penny they can get. I'm so glad I graduated and I don't have to put up with this bullshit anymore. If you're a UCR student. Walk if possible. If you bring a car, they will find a way to give tickets one way or another when they need the money. Parking spots are also very hard to come by if you show up a little late, so become an earlybird. If you bring a bike to school, it's also likely to get stolen or they may steal a wheel, handlebars, etc. TAPS are no better than people who have physically attacked me and tried to rob me, the only difference is these guys just don't physically hurt you, they do that in other ways, oh also they do not care about your safety. Have fun in hell TAPS. Good luck to the innocent students who are all victims subjected to different ways that UCR will rob you during your time here. Where to begin the $200 annual parking price which comes with a mile long hike? The car getting ticketed despite having the permit and being in the right lot? Repeated denying all appeals for tickets? Unhelpful unfriendly staff? Tickets for parking at the sub station to check the hours of the sub station? The ridiculously over priced $74 tickets? Literal pot holes in parking lots or the audacity to issue citations in the same lot? Unclear and ambiguous parking signs? Double ticketing (same offense, same instance, same day. Let me just say that if you've ever dealt with TAPS (as it's known on campus) it is a complete and utter nightmare! Not only do none of the kiosks make it easy to buy parking permits (especially when you're in a hurry and late for class), but the lil rent-a-cop attendants are total douchers!! I can't, (and don't want to) figure out how much of my money I pissed away during my time at UCR to TAPS...what with all the parking tickets (at $25 a pop) I was given and the meter fees and all. In my opinion parking permits are a joke to buy because you still are forced to make the mile long hike to campus from lot 30. Before they put in the traffic light this was a total pain in the arse... The trolleys are cool but take forrrrrrreeeeeevvvvvvvverrrrr when you have to wait for them...So all in all, parking at UCR is a joke...and the TAPS people are a-holes. read more

I received a parking ticket because I wasn't aware that employees have to apply for a new parking pass every year. When I went to the parking office the people there were very understanding of my issue and after sending an online appeal the ticket was voided. I have heard many horror stories about the parking services, however, my experience was different and the staff there is very helpful if you are dealing with a minor offense or misunderstanding. read more

IF I COULD I WOULD GIVE TAPS A NEGATIVE RATING. Never have I come across such an unprofessional and money hungry organization!!!! They are willing to give you tickets for anything. Got a ticket because I parked in a carpool spot that wasn't even marked as carpool. NOT ONE CLEAR SIGN. Beside that incident, I got another citation and the officer managed to hide my evidence. I caught his mistake and reported him. To this date, I am still waiting for a refund check after four months. Their staff are rude and are no help at all. Money hungry!!! I live in a UCR apartment complex and can't even park in the visitor parking that sits unused even though I pay my rent which covers my permit for housing. All the other spaces were filled and getting home from work at 2am when it is dark is scary having to walk from the other side of the complex especially when a person has history with someone abusive. Safety is not one of their priorities. Gave me a ticket for not paying for the visitor spot. My resident permit was visible. There should be leniencies when it comes to housing parking for residents. When I contested and explained why I parked there, it was denied. Now I have to take my toddler with me to contest it in person. Ridiculous how much they don't care about people. And the woman in the parking office was rude for no reason. read more

I got a citation for parking in bannockburn after 12 minutes to eat at Sub Station... even though that's the whole purpose of that lot!!! The officer lied and wrote that he saw me cross across to campus and my appeal got denied! Students don't make enough to be paying $67 a ticket. read more

Wednesday parking is terrible and they ticket the people who have to park in an odd spot in order to make it to class when there are tons of people on campus chilling in the frat seats or club places taking up the parking spaces of students who actually have class at that time slot. read more

You get tickets for doing what you're not supposed to be doing. You park without a permit/in retarded spot, you're problem. Trust me, $25 is not a lot. And for all the money the previous reviewer complain about "pissing away".... well... how many times does it take for you to learn? If you do something and you get a ticket for it, don't do it again. I haven't had any problems with buying permits from the meters, either. Here's what you do: you stop in front of meter, put in your credit card, select time (if applicable), and it'll print you a ticket. If that makes you late for class, leave five minutes earlier. Rocket science! The "mile long hike" from lot 30 is not that bad. If you think the parking permits are a joke, park in the UV structure and walk to class instead. You'll find that lot 30 permit fee is worth it, most of the time. I do agree that the new traffic lights help shorten the walk, however. Those TAPS guys are just doing their job. I've never gotten an unreasonable ticket from TAPS before (got one I deserved when I let my resident hall meter time expire). I paid it, and it never happened again. No one hasseled me or was an a-hole to me. In fact, those TAPS guy are even willing to help me when my car broke down. read more

Can't say I'm surprised by the amount of 1 star reviews after my experience. I was on campus WORKING with a construction company on a project. I was there to deliver some equipment instead of shipping it so it could be on-site quicker. I pulled over next to the staircase and put my hazards on. The employee I was working with from the construction company spoke to parking services to tell them I would be unloading equipment. After I was done, I walk back up to my car and am greeted with a $74 parking ticket for not being in a parking space. Note that it was 100 degrees outside and I was already carrying heavy equipment up and down stairs. Apparently, I was supposed to risk my health to also carry the equipment across the parking lot instead of being pulled over next to the stairs with my hazards on. I appealed the ticket and received a generic response that I was not parked in a spot. Clearly no one even took the time to read my appeal. Needless to say this is the last favor I do for this campus. I feel bad for the students who are subjected to this greedy organization. read more

Nov. 18 Friday at 9:55 pm, I'm writing this review just in case I need to argue with parking services again I can use this against them. My parents came to visit me at Bannockburn apt and they parked in the correct spot, with the green paint specifying a "60 minute parking spot". They came out of the apt just to see a ticket on the car, guy says it's b/c they parked in a non 60 minute parking spot. We had to argue with him, he takes out his flashlight and sees it IS a 60 minute parking spot. Makes up some excuse and even calls another parking services over to make sure. like hello if you don't believe the the green 60 minute parking spot paint what the hell are you supposed to believe? He takes the ticket back but doesn't give us any confirmation so to make sure we don't get charged i'm writing this just in case. I also have pictures so don't try anything parking services !!!! edit: I checked online the next day and the citation was there even though the parking services guy took it back and admitted his mistake ! wow can not believe this, what liars they are! read more

California law gives the campus too much freedom. The intention of this agency is not to enforce laws or regulations for the common good, its to make money. They give tickets on Saturday and Sunday when the campus looks deserted or even around 10pm when very few people are around. Remember, just because its the law, it doesn't make it right to do. For example, segregation was once the law. I was once at a funeral on campus and had to argue against a ticket in a designated lot. One time I arrived right before they wrote the ticket, and they wouldn't delete or stop despite that I was running to make it. These people are just doing their jobs, but these are jobs they chose. So its not a random event, they just fell into. They chose to financially impact students for the purpose of their benefit. read more

Most heartless people. Gave me a ticket even though I bought a daily permit for $10 but because I parked in a reserved carpool space they ticketed me $67. I didn't know I parked in a reserved space since I accidentally drove pass the sign. The daily permit does include the reserved space but after 10 am but I came there at 6 am (ticketed at 8 am) because I wanted to study for my final in Orbach. I tried to appeal and even pleaded with them to at least take $10 off the actual the amount since I already bought the permit but of course they didn't. Also, they never even gave me a warning citation before even though my friends have said they have gotten warning citations. Dont bother parking on campus. Just get a bike and hope they don't ticket your bike too for parking it in the wrong spot. read more

I had recently received a parking citation for purchasing an incorrect space. Since the parking spaces are slanted, from a distance I had thought I was purchasing the correct space--an honest mistake (my only one in 4 years) and one I thought to be easily appealed. Unfortunately, my appeal was denied and I was told that I would need to pay my citation anyway before seeking a 2nd level appeal. The student should not be inconvenienced so greatly to have their mistake considered. My time should not be siphoned away from my academics for parking money. One can understand the frustration of many students' encounters with Transportation and Parking Services at UC Riverside when they consider the steadfast application of citations in relation to the barriers created for communicating with and appealing said citations. read more
