I've had them both in her agility classes following their training and they both had a lot of fun. The best part is that in her class if your dog acts up, everyone treats it like a learning experience and is totally respectful instead of making you feel like you've got the bad dog. I've tried other trainers in the past, and most of them are good at basic obedience, but I've never had anyone who is ACTUALLY able to correct and improve behavioral issues, and in fact, some of them have made them worse. Heather has always been completely honest in her assessments of my dogs and will honestly tell me if she thinks there is a limit to what she can do, unlike other trainers who will tell you they can fix every behavior. She is also very honest about the work I will need to put in to make sure they continue to behave after she's worked with them. I don't trust anyone else to care for my dogs when I have to board them. I know they will get attention, exercise, and be safely cared for while they are at BFA.

We've used Mutterly love to groom our golden doodle for about 1.5 yrs now. We go consistently every…read more6-8wk. They never were as good as his old groomer and frequently gave him patchy spots, especially around his legs and neck, but it was never enough to complain about. What motivated me to write this review was just today we pick our boy up from the groomer around 4pm and took him for a walk this evening. It was dark, and we were shocked to see when we came home all 4 of his paws were bloody. They trimmed the nails on all 4 paws past the quick. We called to tell them and to make sure the person who did his nail trimming knew they caused all 4 paws to bleed. The person we spoke with told us it is normal to cut to the quick and keep it short. They said this happens when "we don't keep up with his nails". But he had gone for grooming 6wks ago and walks about 2.5 miles every day. So his nails were not long to begin with. They told us to apply some Kwik stop to his nails and he would be good. They did not offer any compensation. They simply told us the who did his nails "usually does keep them short". I am not a groomer, so I cannot say if this is normal or not from a technical standpoint. I can only say in his nearly 5 years of being groomed, we've never experienced this before, and Mutterly Love seemed pretty convinced it was normal.

This place is ADORABLE, and is so homey and comfy!…read more Thank goodness for Southwest Michigan's Superbook, because without their awesome coupons, I never would have found the Crate Escape (buy one, get one free day of doggy daycare)! Their main room has rugs, chairs, and sofas for the dogs to lounge and rest on, as well as plenty of room for them to socialize. We boarded our Coraline there for a few nights once, and periodically bring her in for a day of daycare. For overnight boarding, they have private areas for dogs that range in amenities. Some will have their very own personal seating area, and bed, or there are also crates for them to sleep in if they need that. Coraline LOVES this place. As soon as I let her out of the car, she starts lunging for their front door. When she gets home from a day of daycare, she goes off to a quiet corner to nap right away, which I take to be a good sign because hopefully, that means that she wore herself out having fun with her little furry friends there! We've been to other places in town, but like this one the most because it always feels so warm and inviting. Two warnings: 1) They require reservations for day care and boarding. We were told the last time we dropped her off that they wouldn't take our dog for daycare again unless we called ahead of time (obviously, we didn't know about the reservations-only policy because no one ever told us about one before then), and 2) it's CASH ONLY, which is a pain because I seldom have cash on me. Luckily, there's an ATM at the Walgreens down the street. (The website doesn't list much information, AT ALL, so call, or stop by to grab some informational sheets from them.)

My husband and I met Leslie Marquis over a year ago when we inquired on a 7-year-old dam she was…read more"retiring" from breeding and looking for a good home, and we were looking for a dog for my elderly father-in-law to keep him company. We met with Leslie several times, some alone and some with Dad, to interview each other to be sure that we were what she was looking for and also that it was what we were looking for for our Dad. She was very patient with us and all of our questions. At that time, we currently had an 11-year-old GSD in our own home but were interested in getting a puppy "some time in the future" as well. Leslie was gracious enough to allow my husband and myself to come "visit" with puppy litters on roughly a monthly basis to get to know her and her family and also to help socialize the puppies, five litters in total if I remember correctly. I have not previously witnessed such caring of the individual pups/litters in my 50+years of having GSDs from any breeder, and her adult dogs are just as amazing, well behaved, well mannered, and socialized. She goes to great lengths to train, title, and breed these beautiful dogs to get amazing results. We've watched several of her pups go on to train in the settings of police work, tracking, and service work for veterans. We lost our precious GSD in October 2019 at almost 12 years old, and we got our first puppy from Auf der Marquis this past Thursday after visiting with the litter almost weekly since they were born. I'm happy to report to you that he is the most amazing puppy we've ever had (not that I'm biased of course . He has a great temperament, already follows some basic commands, and is smart as a whip although he is still a 10-week old puppy and is mischievous as expected. Leslie was instrumental in helping us pick out a pup that would be suitable as we would like to train him in IGP when he gets a little older, and he has already demonstrated characteristics suitable for this type of training. He is most definitely not timid, is very curious of all his new surroundings, is not afraid of loud noises, etc. I also witnessed on several occasions her visits with other potential buyers to discuss their particular needs and wants, and she was very helpful with them making their selection of a pup to suit their own personal needs. We are not family and have no business affiliation with them, and I would most definitely recommend Auf der Marquis Kennel and Leslie Marquis as thee place to get a German Shepherd puppy in Michigan. We live over an hour drive from there, in Rockford, and wouldn't go anywhere else.
